Boo just boo, today i give my experience a 1 star because. yes it was busy but it took 2 hours to see a doctor for 6 minutes. Came in at 11:40am didn't get seen til 1:55pm. doctors were literally seeing other patients yes patientS that came after me. one of the doctors saw me waiting for so long she checked the systems and said "there's 3 patients in front of you". I told her i had been waiting and seeing other patients get seen before me. she said "they're not doing it in order, just by what the system shows". choosing patients who get seen like a bingo game, whoever they picked that's who got seen, not in order at all. so boo , when it wasn't so busy it wasn't terrible just slow. I downloaded yelp just to make this review so you know how this place works and make an informed decision for yourself and make sure you asked if they're busy before going. This place has gone down hill. They used to be great but now they promise to return calls and don't. And the PAs do not provide adequate care. The last two times I was there I was seen by a PA and both times they prescribed treatment that was ineffective. After a long history with this establishment it looks like I need to find a different provider. read more

Front desk staff always great. Other staff is decent depending on who it is. Wait time for a doctor is long generally no more than two doctors to check all the bays. The doctor cannot multi task and direct employees to cut down on wait time. Since there are 6 employees in the triage area the least they can do is handle customer service instead of standing around as one of three receive instructions. This place use to be top notch service and quick turnaround. Now it seems I need to plan a half day off work. read more

I am grateful they are available for same day testing however the line to get tested is insane. I mean it wrapped around the building! The doors open at 8 but you better be there by 6:30 to get ahead of the line. Arrive on time, to the back of the line. Make sure you bundle up and bring a seat and some form of entertainment because people can get restless and bored. Once you get in and checked in thigh you're good! You'll be there another two hours or so and they'll send you on your way, results can be pulled up by phone and you will also be notified by text. read more

Been sick since the day after Xmas and felt sicker than usual. After checking in, and being warned to expect a 2-3 hr wait, I sat in my car and waited until they called me. They took my insurance info, vitals, and tested me for C-d, strep and the flu. When a room was ready, they called me and I ended up waiting no more than 10 minutes before seeing the doc. The nursing staff was pleasant. The doc was exhausted and matter of fact. I think overall, given how packed this care center was, they did great. read more

Some times I don't think people fully grasp the concept of what urgent care facilities are for. Urgent care facilities are not emergency rooms. People come here to be seen for nagging injuries/problems that happen weeks prior instead of just going to their PCP. They come here instead of going to the ER, and increase the wait for others because they have to be patched up and shipped to the ER. They treat urgent care facilities like it's a loop hole to faster service, and it's not. One of the other reviews said a girl was bleeding severely for an hour prior to coming to this location, and so they rated it 1 star because of that, and the wait time. First of all that girl should've went to the ER, because that is an emergency. Had she gone to the ER i'm sure they would've rushed her back, but people always try to beat the system and come to urgent care. Urgent care is not for EMERGENCIES! Patient First is not staffed with a rapid response unit. If you feel you need to be seen immediately, then chances are you're having a _________ . [I'll let you fill in the blank] I used to work in a hospital, and remember people coming into the ER by ambulance thinking it would get them seen quicker. The nurses would triage them and if it wasn't an emergency they would wheel them right on out to the waiting room with everyone else. The looks on their faces would be PRICELESS! Also the lack of knowledge, and people not knowing the difference can raise the wait times dramatically. Nobody wants to go to the hospital, because they KNOW its gonna be a long wait in the ER if they're not having a life or death/emergency situation. They then come to patient first and complain about the wait...lol Most likely because they're sitting in a room full of people trying to duck the ER just like them. If you find yourself sitting in this patient first, the first thing that you should realize is that by coming here you have already acknowledged the fact that your visit is URGENT, but its not an emergency. So your life is not on the line if you have to wait for a hour or 2 or 3. Another thing that people seem to forget, is the amount of documentation that has to take place inside ANY medical facility. For every patient that comes in there will be paperwork. Front desk has to document, M.A.'s have to document, Nurses and doctors too. Not to mention that the people in the lab need time to run test if necessary. So if they see 150 people in a day. That can be alot of work in itself, but it's an essential part of running a center. It's not something that can be done at the end of the day. It has to be done THOROUGHLY in the moment. which is why you dont see doctors running back and forth from room to room. People complain about how long it takes to see a doctor, but most doctors are slow. A doctor that's in a rush is bound to make mistakes or miss something. A good doctor is a thorough doctor and patient first doesn't staff a ton of doctors. So you've got 100 patients vs 2-3 doctors at any given time. If they were rushing people in and out the door I'd be more concerned, than I'd be having to wait. The staff here is super friendly. The center is very well kept and though the wait time can be longer at times (same as any other medical facility). I always get sound medical treatment/advice when I visit. [WHICH SHOULD BE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING, NOT WAIT TIME] This is the reason why I come to this location for my "NON EMERGENCY, NON LIFE THREATENING, MY PCP ISN'T A VIABLE OPTION AT THE MOMENT, URGENT BUT I'M NOT DYING BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE AN EMERGENCY. ." medical needs. read more

My experience with this place is simple. I went in, added my name to the list to be seen. I selected the option to get a phone call, so I could wait outside in my car to avoid the lobby, which was about half full. Waiting about 15 mins to be called in to register. The person who checked me in told me that i could wait in my car to be called in. Two hours later, I realized they closed and left, except for one person that I could see. I was sitting in my car right outside with the car running. I knocked on the door. The person inside appeared to look at me, then go back to what she was doing. At first I was upset, but then read some of the other complaints. Apparently, this happens a lot. Or more than it should. I wasn't having an emergency, so thank god for that. Literally any service anywhere else is better than this. read more

Patient first, they're no big deal. First, I waited 2 to 3 hours to be seen by a doctor. Secondly, they are thieves. I have insurance, and when I went, I told them I had a co-pay and could pay it, and they said no. Then they sent me an invoice for $300, I paid them 250 because I did not have it all. Later, for $50, they sent me to collections. They are inconsiderate. They are not the only urgent care that exists. So don't go there, go somewhere else. If you don't have a way to pay the co-payment then they will send you to collections. They are a gang of thieves. read more

I visited this location Monday morning it was very empty not busy at all. Check in process was smooth and the front desk staff was friendly. I cannot remember the name of the provider that I saw but she was incredibly dismissive uncaring and cold. I explained in detail how I was experiencing a severe pain/headache behind my left eye followed by random spasms and numbness throughout the entire left side of my body. Her solution was to prescribe me some steroids. No testing no blood work just steroids. I politely declined her prescription and opted to go somewhere else where I was throughly examined and tested to find out steroids was not the remedy for my condition. I am thankful for physicians that truly care and will go above and beyond for people they are treating. read more

This has been a horrible experience. I don't understand how or why we had to wait 3+hours to get a physical- when the waiting rooms and bays were empty. I mean absolutely ridiculous. If you go and are placed on the right side of the clinic- run - the provider must be a turtle !!!!!! The left side was rolling - people that arrived hours after us for physicals were in and out of here . I've been to this location a couple of times, and have never had a bad experience. Wait times have always been okay, and staff friendly/efficuent. My daughter was sick with what turned out to be the flu a couple of weeks ago, and from walking in to walking out was less than an hour. That included wait time for test results. read more

I have been using this patient first for years but I'm not going back. The wait was short and I was excited to be seeing a doctor who looks like me. I had an infection, a cough and a really painful foot. She gave me an antibiotic for the infection and told me that the other things were chronic and refused to treat them. She asked me what I thought I needed for my foot and never even examined it. Yesterday I went Adventist Urgent Care on route 1 for a covid test. Dr. Chima listened to me and not only gave me the test but he also prescribed medication for my cough even though I told him it was old and according to patient first not urgent care's responsibility to treat. I started going to patient first when they were the only game in town. They are not anymore and you can get more thorough care elsewhere. read more

Really took time to work with me and get down to the root of exactly what was going on with my injury to neck and shoulder. Service depends on staffing and the day you visit. My recent Saturday visit was just over 3 hours from check-in to walking out the door, and I only arrived for a shot. (3) people sitting and waiting inside, I noticed (2) people waiting in their vehicle as I walked inside. The parking lot was about 1/3 full. I typically give 4 or 5 star reviews, but then again, I typically don't go on Saturdays. read more

TERRIBLE i literally only came for a Tb test something that takes 2 minutes. The check in process was quick and easy. But they make you pay before you go back which sucks for me cause i would had just left. I've been sitting in the exam room forever. The tb test is only $38. The two times I've been to Patient First have not been the best. Each time I was misdiagnosed of an ailment that I never had. The only reason why I decided to use them was because those two times fell on public holidays and I did not want to spend several hours at the ER. The last time I went(a different location from the first time), the doctor said I had Covid. I went home and did another home covid test. It came out negative. I did another test 24hrs later with the same result. I then scheduled an appointment with my Primary Doctor who did another test and told me I had Sinusitis and not covid. Yet they sent me a bill of almost $250. read more

My husband had his hand crushed when a car fell off a jack . They wasted almost an hour arguing with him that while they had his insurance card on file, and he had picture ID showing that the address on file was the same as his DL, and therefore IT WAS HIM, they would not see him. WHY? Because he didn't have his insurance card in his wallet. They insisted that he call the insurance company for proof of validity. ON A SUNDAY NIGHT. Let me say this...I rather go to the ER than to come to this place again. I went there this past week, right when they opened up and got out of there almost 3 hours later. That's just crazy. I was there for a physical y'all. But this is what really pissed me off. I went in there, got all my test done to see how I am doing. And I had some concerns. So the doctor was going through the check list for a physical and I said, hey I have some concerns regarding my health that I would like to talk about (especially something I had noticed and wanted to get treatment for). She said, this is a physical and if I wanted to talk about "concerns," that is a different kind of appointment. I'm there speaking to a doctor, but I cannot discuss my concerns. What the ____. That makes no sense. So if I'm noticing that I'm having trouble breathing when I do work around the house (this is an example) and I bring that up during my physical, she basically said make another appointment. Child please. PLEASE Y'ALL don't do it...I rather go to Laurel Hospital. I know that sad to say but its the truth. read more

I have been here far too often for everything from a dislocated ankle to the flu. I usually get sound competent medical care. The problem I have is they are slow!!! I mean glacially slow, sloth slow, dead turtle slow. And their customer service and billing departments are dreadful to the point that sometimes it is easier to just suck it up and not be seen by a medical professional. Case in point I went in for a fairly minor injury and after giving them my id, insurance card, prescription card, letter from the Pope, copayment, etc. I was seen by the nurse, the dr, the x-ray tech, and some random people who might have an opinion. I was given my walking papers. All is good right? No, somehow, they managed to transpose 2 numbers on my insurance card and of course the insurance rejects it and then I get a bill. Ok, I see what happened so I figure a quick phone call and this will be fixed. No (see the part about slow above), I am also informed that they have done their part and submitted the bill which was rejected because someone made a boo-boo, and now I have to pay it because they will not resubmit it. Three friggin' months later I finally get it straight and then my wife has a very similar problem. So, if you are bad off and your primary is not available, and you don't need the ER, and you are feel lucky... roll the dice... what's the worse that could happen? read more

I cannot thank this Patient First enough for how compassionate they were and how efficient my time spent here was. I had meetings in the area that morning and since I was scheduled to fly out of the country in a few days, I was starting to get nervous that my "cold" was more than a cold. So I called Patient First to see what their availability was like and headed over. They had me in and out within an hour... with meds purchased on site (because of course it wasn't just a cold, it was really bronchitis and an ear infection). Both the Dr and the intake folks were super sweet and treated me as if I was a regular patient of theirs. I appreciate that kind of bedside manner and if I am in need of medical attention in this area again I would not hesitate to return. read more

The only clinic I ever heard that has you pay via card (no cash) before they charge your insurance. They charge you $0 at check in and then have you sign a paper stating they will charge you what ever your insurance doesn't pay later. Second they weren't friendly at all. I was so ill for the New Year's, so I finally dragged myself her. When I arrived there were so many people. It was literally standing room only. I was too sick to drive any where else, so I stayed. After I registered, it took 2 hours before I was seen by the doctor. Although she was nice, all she did was check my throat, and told me to take some Robitussin DM. Seriously?! I waited two hours only to be seen for ten minutes. If you are truly ill, I would suggest going to your primary physician because this place a waste of my time. This is hard for me. For many years, we have used them for minor stuff to avoid the ER nightmare. Once, they successfully diagnosed my wife's pneumonia that her primary doc missed. We have never waited long, they are very efficient. TV service (quality of pic) in lobby should be upgraded. Here is the bad, very bad, part of this review. They totally mis-diagnosed me last week and the results could have been catastrophic. I had a fever getting worse for several days, then it went to 102 then it broke after a day. I'm 51 years old so I was concerned but it broke and a pool of sweat and I thought I was over whatever bug I had. That night, I went through 5-6 cycles of high temp and breaking in sweat. I went to Patient First in Laurel for a throat culture. I told the tech and doctor my exact symptoms, headache and sore throat for days (never get headaches) muscle aches, high fever but without ANY respiratory symptoms (no runny nose, cough, etc.). I also showed them an odd bug bite on the back of my leg which was getting ugly, bigger, looking like a bruise and bubbly. I had been in Florida and assumed something had bitten me and wondered (out loud) if my illness could be related to the bug bite. The doctor (female, Dawnt Gaines, PA-C) gave me a quick look, looked in the computer for what to prescribe, said out loud she was diagnosing me as having "Flu" and looked up drugs for "upper respiratory infection." I had to ask for a generic equivalent to avoid a big co-pay and she had no problem and prescribed me Amoxicillin (Augmentin 875mg) for 7 days, 2x day. I started taking this right away and a day later my symptoms began to go away. The "bite" on back of my leg started to shrink and my wife was very worried about it and got online, eventually becoming convinced that everything about this sounded like Lyme disease. We live in an area that is near epidemic with Lyme, comes from tiny "deer ticks" the size of a poppy seed, and I spend a lot of time gardening and in the woods near our house. She got me in to see my primary doctor (Himani Shishodia at Park Medical), who has a Lyme expert in their office. She ran a blood test but changed my prescription to Doxycycline 2x 100mg for 21 days (yes, three weeks) which is the MUST prescription to actually KILL the Lyme disease. All of my symptoms left immediately and the bruise/bite area shrank to almost nothing in a few more days. The full blood test came back and confirmed 100% flaming Lyme disease infection. Had I continued with the incorrect (but an OK #2 choice) of prescription, the symptoms would have gone away and because the prescription would have been too little and way too short to kill it, I might have developed all of the "hidden" Lyme problems in future years. Arthritis is common and even heart disease. I know someone who had it but didn't know it for years and they ended up needing a pacemaker. Knowing how bad Lyme is in this part of Maryland, seeing my bite (back of knee is most common place for these bites) with the Bullseye and ignoring it, not getting a blood test and just thinking flu could have been a disaster. I'm sorry but I may have to just wait in the future for an appointment with my primary doctor and avoid this place. Sad, it is usually a good option but I'll probably use it only for ER style issues. read more

We have been to this location so many times. Its so close and convenient. The late hours are excellent. We have seen many practitioners for our whole family. I was surprised how good they were with the kids. I will say that if you are really ill just go to the ER. They seem to do best with obvious ailments. Some are better than others as with most places. But the center is clean, organized and run efficiently. The wait time is usually not too long and the process from start to do is is quite smooth. I like all the documentation they give you. The paper could be better quality though. It's like that glossy receipt paper. Another plus is that you can fill any RX right there and just go home and rest. Not necessarily cheaper than Walmart or cvs not convenient. The parking lot could be a little larger but I guess it's adequate. We have also used the doctor on -call service they offer and was given good advice. The doctors sometimes need to be probed for more info. They are sometimes too quick. It's an urgent care that offers primary care services. So they should take they're time with people sometimes. But I will def be back. read more

Yesterday was my second visit to Patient First. The first was after I suffered a 3rd degree burn to my Achilles tendon area (at the time I didn't know what the heck had happened). I was impressed with the service, what they were capable of doing there, and the cost! I had never utilized "Urgent Care" in the past. Yesterday I went in and was thoroughly diagnosed after a round of chest x-rays, time on the nebulizer, and speaking to the doctor. Again, the cost for the visit and prescriptions was very reasonable. And today I received a follow-up call; impressive. I was reminded of a follow-up appointment and was asked if I was feeling better. WoW! I suggest Patient First for Urgent Care. read more

I'm not sure what everyone else is complaining about but I have nevere had to wait in the waiting area more than 5 or 10 minutes. The service is always prompt. Then again I always take my ID and insurance card to the doctors with me so check in is easy. I visit here more than I visit my doctor. They have after work and weekend hours which fit my busy schedule. Labs and x-rays can be done on site. Plus they carry most perscriptions which saves you from having to stop at the pharmacy after your office visit. I have been there for simple flu shots ranging to severe bronchitis. Doctors and nurses have always been professional and accurate with my care. I'm a health care professional so I am VERY picky. I have never found one thing to complain about. read more

Excellent service, both professional and friendly. Stopped in for a serious wound to my left arm with a large patch of skin missing. After a brief wait, the physician examined me, took several steps to stop the bleeding and reduce the pain. Then told me what I needed to do to protect my arm for the next several days and why I needed to take each stop. She even wrote the instructions down to ensure I did the right things. Dr. Melissa Anderson was superb. Particularly in telling me why I should do the things she recommended. Very personal service. Amazing how the ratings for this facility range from one star to five. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to come back. read more

I use this place as my primary doctor and I'm quite satisfied. I really enjoy the walk-in model for a primary doc. I find the medical advice to be as good as any other doctor I've had. I think the key to avoiding long wait times is not to go during the after school / after work rush. I go later at night or during the day and have not had a wait. This place is really only a substitute for going to the ER, but truthfully you might be better off just going there first. I don't use is as my PCP (I'll get to that later), and really only go when I can't get in to my doctor's. PROS: - location is easy to find. - easy to sign in. - helpful staff for check-in process. - takes all insurance (even Medicare). - all-in-one visit if you need medication. - clean lobby. - smells relatively good. CONS: - long wait times (I was there for over 3 hours for a doctor to tell me "I can only treat your symptoms and refer you to a specialist", ended up being gastroenteritis...) - assembly-line medicine. I didn't feel very acknowledged or important. Both the nurse and the doctor talked with me for less than 10 minutes before scurrying away for another hour of waiting. - got a bad bruise on my upper arm from the nurse tying the rubber band so damn tight. - the facility was pretty gross. I wouldn't have noticed if I didn't have 3 hours to look at the floors. Not recently mopped, there was a glove and some ripped paper on the tile.... made me uncomfortable but I had already waited so long I just wanted to get it over with. All-in-all, I probably wouldn't recommend this location. But, if you have to go, just save yourself the trouble and go to the ER. I wouldn't want to use this place as my PCP because I overheard them telling a lady with an appointment for regular care that the wait would be over an hour... read more

Great staff, clean office and overall good visit. I have been there twice in the past few months, and while the wait has been a little long both times, the staff makes up for it. I love the fact that I can get blood work, chest x-ray a breathing test and a Dr. visit all in one place by nice people. I understand people get annoyed with the wait time, by the way I was in and out in less than a 1 1/2 and I had a lot done, but this is not a normal doctors office, so yes there is going to be a wait. But like I said if you need a few test done all at once, this is the way to go. If I went to my PCP I would have been charged $20 co-pay, then sent for blood work and charged $20 co-pay, then sent for chest x-rays and another $20 co-pay... plus I would have spent hours being sick and running around. Patient first is the way to go. Plus I dealt with at least 6-7 people and they were all super sweet, cheerful and nice. I even had my 2 kids with me and the staff was joking with them, getting them stickers and making sure they were ok while I was busy getting tested. I will be going back when we get sick and need a quick Dr visit. I have been there and I have taken my children there. read more

My fiance cut his leg open at 8 PM on a Tuesday night and we could definitely see that he needed stitches. Unfortunately, his insurance hadn't kicked in yet as he had just started a new job. We called the Patient First clinic (and were able to actually talk to a person who answered questions like they knew what they were talking about) and were on the road shortly after. The staff was friendly and courteous and apologized for not being able to see us immediately. We were dreading the cost that we were about to incur, but when we got out to the cashier she told us our cost came to only $129. I have to say, after working in an emergency department for more than 2 years in the rural south, I would not complain a bit about our experience. read more
