We stopped by Patio Burger & Ice Cream specifically for ice cream while checking out Penticton on our visit to the Okanagan Lake region. Food. As mentioned, we stopped specifically to get the restaurant's famous custardy ice cream, which can be ordered in either a cup or cone. While the list of options is limited (9 flavors), we were very happy with our choices of Silk Salted Caramel (husband) and Blonde Mint Chip. Some of the flavors would appeal to kids -- such as Bubble Gum or Cotton Candy. Single scoops were $5.95/double $7.95 (June, 2022). Milk shakes were also available for $8.95. The restaurant also offers burgers, chicken strips, hot dogs, a kids menu, coffee, beer, and cocktails. Ambiance. I believe that all seating is outdoors. The "patio" is a large wooden deck, with only Lakeshore Drive separating you from the lake. The tables are shaded by large umbrellas, and music is piped in from speakers around the deck. Orders are taken at a window, and pick up is at an adjacent window. The environment is beautiful, with the lake view and warm breezes (in June!). The only distraction was the music, in that it was being played a bit too loudly. The restaurant is adjacent to Lackawanna Park, with greenery and pretty plants and has clean rest rooms. Value. Prices were expensive, especially if you're feeding a family. But, that said, the restaurant is in a "prime real estate" area, and is open only seasonally. Lakeshore & Powell st. It's a standard fast food place so it's a stand up and order and low expectations but wow!. I'm vegetarian and usually every fast food veggie burger is bad if not decent but they knew what they were doing with the plant based chicken burger I'm so amaze! We wanted to try this place after seeing it on Hello Okanagan. Unfortunately, we were not impressed. The fries were chewy and seemed stale. The garden salad with grilled chicken was okay. A large spacious patio really catches your eye as you cruise Lakeshore Drive looking for somewhere to eat. My advice is to keep cruizing. The burger patties are thin and greasy and left me wondering where my $15 went? Just stopped for a late lunch,I'd have to say very good, nice patio in the sun across form the lake. I read other reviews it was just fast food, maybe yes but from an burger stand circa 1950 -1970. Hand made patties, perfectly caramelized onions, thick cut smoky bacon and hand cut fries. What's not to like! On top of that 3 local craft beers on tap, happy hour to boot. Burgers have a real "in and out" feel but the buns are good and the patties fresh. The fries seem to have taken a huge tumble though, they now taste like packaged handcut, not fresh handcut if that makes sense. Service has been pleasant each time I've been here, but that's always what you make of it IMO. Great views of the Lake on a sunny day! This could be my new favorite burger place in the Okanagan! When we first came by I wasn't sure how this would be. Its a pretty casual place right on the Lakeshore strip in Penticton. We walked up and the staff was very friendly. We had a few questions about the burgers and they were patient and helpful. My favorite burger ever is the Double Double from In-N-Out Burger. Living in Canada, I sadly don't get to have it that often. But this burger does a very good job holding off the cravings! It's a close second for sure. If you are a fan of In-N-Out, you'll most likely enjoy this! The fries were really good also. Didn't have a chance to try the ice-cream yet, hopefully next time. The seating is all outdoors. But on a nice day it has a really neat vibe to it. Beautiful setting. The patio is lifted so you can see out on the water really easily. My wife even said to me that it kind of reminded her of Disneyland for some reason (just the feel of the place). Can't say enough good things about this Burger joint. Ordered their Classic burger with the double patty! It was very good and tasty! The fries were a bit on the soggy but they were hot! They give you a pager to tell you when your order is ready with a count down. Our burgers were ready in about 7 minutes! That's pretty impressive! Well maybe for me! We had takeout since our group had young kids that ate and wanted to play in the water park next door but their patio was spacious and last but not least friendly staff and very organized. Went to the beach for a bit and then made room for their custardy style made in house ice cream! The salted Carmel ice cream was a very generous one scoop!! Can't wait to go again!! read more

Great burgers, I had the Texas and it was full of saucy goodness, the wife had the Mexican and it was also good. The boy a plain cheeseburger and it was demolished. A little disappointed they didn't have their liquor license as a couple of beers would have really rounded out the meal. Only complaint was the music. I've been anticipating the reopening of Patio Burger as I had missed out last year. Sadly I had set my hopes far too high. First visit, I ordered the chicken strip meal. It was meant to be something to share while on a walk. That was smaller than a happy meal and twice the price. Visit two was a chance for redemption. But it didn't happen. Ordered a burger and it reminded me of one of those convenience store burgers you throw in the microwave. Service was completely lacking on both visits. The staff seem more interested in doing anything other than serving. The quality of the food is hit or miss. The portions are far too small for the price. Given its location, it does not surprise me to see this. There are limited options for food along the lake in the area. Total disappointment and not a good way to make an impression on tourists. As the property is owned by the city, I am surprised they have not put thought into the quality of the experience here. Bringing a vendor that offers good value would do much more for the city as a whole. I don't see myself coming back. I won't make a recommendation. read more

When you come here they have a menu stand to look over and choose what you like. Once ready, you place the order at the window and are given a buzzer to sit at your table with. Once it buzzes you know to pick up your food and enjoy! I actually enjoy this pick up set up and not being asked by a waiter when my mouth is full of food "SO, how's everything tasting?!" The service was prompt and they gave our drinks first to enjoy until the food was ready. I recommend the buffalo chicken and fries , they were so good! I didn't feel poutine was worth it. There's a great view of the beach and nice big umbrellas that shield you from the sun. When we were there they had a live singer. I'm not really a fan of live music but after 3 songs it went back to music from the speakers which I appreciated. I plan on going back and enjoying another buffalo chicken burger, but be prepared because the food is a little pricey. read more

Customer service was so bad! I stood at the counter, trying to make eye contact with the staff, as 4 of them stood there without acknowledging me for at least 5 minutes. I couldn't believe it. BUT...the main reason I'm giving 1 star is the quality of the burger. I ordered the classic cheeseburger. It was horrible. The beef was definitely very low grade and way over cooked. I 'dragged' my friend to patio when she suggested eating under the Golden arch. Patio seating overlooks the lake with large shades and music. It's a self service style restaurant with menus when you walk in and order from a window with remote notification. My friend had the chicken and bacon burger - it was a filleted chicken breast with bacon and nice bun. I polished off a chicken burger with delicious dill sauce. Fries were hot. With 2 burgers, large soda $37. Food seemed fresh. Can accommodate large groups if there is available seating. Witnessed lots of to go orders for the beach goers. read more

Decent burger joint, but with the beautiful view of the lake, you really can't go wrong. You can either sit and have a server come to you, or order at the window. Service was pretty slow, 10 minute wait for order taking, then another 10 minutes for water. Once the food came, we asked for more water and was told that they "don't do that but will do it this time" which I felt was pretty odd.. Not the server's fault, but I would suggest that management have a place for pitchers of water by the order/pick up window, so guests can get water when they need to, or have a better way to serve water instead of using a brand new cup, lid, and straw every time. You can order any burger with a beef, chicken, or veggie patty which is a nice edge! I ordered a Mushroom Swiss with the veggie patty which was a bit dry but everything else was yummy.
