I ordered a risotto which was good, but not amazing. The asparagus was crunchy and seemed not fully cooked. We sat on the patio but it was loud since it was on a busy street with constant traffic. The outdoor booth was comfortable, although very low down making it hard to reach my food on the table. Buckle in for a bit of a lengthy review on this one, I have many good things to say about this place. We are Americans that live in a somewhat remote area, so we regularly travel to the Penticton area for shopping and amenities that can't be found in our local area. After we completed our errands this afternoon we decided to stop in to The Nest for a round of drinks and appetizers before returning home. We had the pleasure of being served by the owner himself, who is an extremely friendly and polite gentleman. The vibe upon walking in immediately felt casual and welcoming. The owners passion for what he does shines when he speaks about the menu and about the restaurant. He was extremely attentive despite being short staffed this evening, and being it was our first time in he took the time to explain that the restaurant uses only locally sourced ingredients, and makes as much as they can from scratch in house. The drink menu is pretty expansive and is full of many craft cocktails that are not commonly found elsewhere. Being someone who loves a French 75 and a Tom Collins, I was happy to see both. You'll find many specialty flavors of margaritas, gin and tonics, and smoked cocktails all made with locally distilled spirits. Additionally, they have a nice selection of local beer, wine, and cider when available. As far as the food menu, there are few (if any!) other restaurants I can honestly say I would be willing to try every item on the menu, but this is one of them. There is a unique collection of dishes and options for everyone, with entree options varying from red meat, to seafood, to gluten free, to vegetarian. We opted for two of the appetizers, the baked Brie and nuts and the bison carpaccio. Both were exceptional and fresh tasting. The quality of the ingredients used is apparent. This place will have to be one of our go-to spots from now on. The service is enough to keep you coming back, but we are so looking forward to trying everything else the menu has to offer. Would recommend in a heartbeat. Farmers breakfast - such a simple dish but one of the best. Bacon was cooked to a nose crispy glaze. Olive feta Toast was house made and very flavorful just buttered. Potatoes were so herby, crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. Icing on the cake was the house made chutney sauce that was perfectly tangy, sweet and savory! Vegan tofu bowl - earthy hash bowl. Good mix of veggies that were so well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Potatoes were soft, mushrooms were juicy, vegan mayo was tangy but light. Great thing about a road trip is trying new restaurants. Need a place for brunch for Father's Day, we found The Nest. We wanted to make sure we got a table so we lined up before it opened. It worked! First impressions of the restaurant is great. Full of character, pictures of birds on the wall was beautiful, nice furniture, and ambiance. Service was good. The highlight was definitely the food. Being brunch we had Smoked Salmon Brunch Bowl 5/5 tasted and looked great. Farmers breakfast 5/5, house made breakfast sausage was fantastic. Croissant Benedict, needed a bit more taste but good overall, 4/5. Huevos Rancheros was good. 5/5. Shoutout to the smashed potatoes and maple smoked bacon which was excellent. Masks are required to and from your table, a certain number of people are allowed in the establishment at a time, and hand sanitizer is mandatory upon entry. The staff, all of them, are quick to respond, quick to refill, and really friendly. You get the sense that they're all friends with each other and with you. Easy atmosphere and a lot of smiles. The menu is really interesting! I absolutely love brunch and love having options until 2 PM. The butternut squash soup is rich, thick, creamy, and tastyyyyy. Their plates are aesthetically pleasing and their food is cooked to perfection. You can tell they take pride in what they do! The only complaint I have, and I'm sure they've heard before, is the parking situation. Getting a truck in and out of those spots at the front is tricky when there are pedestrians and other cars bustling around you. Perhaps I didn't see parking on the side or at the back that might have been easier; keep your eyes open! It's worth it regardless of the parking situation! I didn't actually go to the washroom so I can't comment on the handicap situation, but I believe there was a ramp at the front entrance and the place is SPACIOUS so getting around in a wheelchair is easy as pie. read more

The bison appetizer was delicious. However the striploin, even though the presentation, veggies and sauces were excellent, was inedible. It must have been a chunk of stewing beef because it was too tough to cut and Too tough to chew. I asked for a steak knife to try to cut through it and they said of course but forgot to bring one out. Great chef but they need to fire their meat purchaser. read more

My co-worker dragged me here kicking and screaming, so concider this a slightly hostile review... A very friendly, hip, comfortable and welcoming establishment. The meals look very nice and all in all id concider coming here if I was a 3rd level vegan that only eats what does not cast a shadow. Thant being said, you might have good luck getting drunk here since they offer some nice drinks. However if you are looking for hearty food like steaks or pasta y'all might want to keep looking. But that is not to say that there isnt a lot of food on the plate, i doubt youll leave hungry. So yah its actually pretty nice. Just not my kind of place. The menu is really limited in my opinion. Great brunch spot with good food for a reasonable price. I came here with a group of seven and everyone ordered something that I would've happily ordered for myself. I got the tofu scramble. I also got to try the huevos rancheros. Both were delicious. The stand out to me were the hash browns. I love hash browns that are golden brown and extra crispy, and this was perfect. The presentation of the dishes was also very appetizing. Something like this in Vancouver would've easily cost $15+. My tofu scramble was $11. The only star deduction comes from the rather slow service. Our server was nice, but it took a while for the food to start coming. Even then, only half the orders came. The other half had to wait another 20+ minutes until it arrived (after we asked about it). This was odd because the first batch and second batch had overlapping orders, so it was strange that there was such a long wait in between. Nadine was our server and was so sweet, friendly, and attentive the entire time. We ordered the Farmer's Breakfast and Savoury Waffle with two coffees. Food and coffee were awesome! They have also put in super safe social distancing protocols by placing tables far away from each other, mandatory hand sanitizers for each guest as soon as they enter the dining room and each server is wearing a mask. Profoundly average, from service to plate. Dissenting opinion apparently, we went for Saturday brunch and will not go back. I asked for maple syrup (we both had a waffle and none was forthcoming) and was brought table syrup... that alone ‍ Bacon piece (singular) was good, eggs were tiny, but at least they were eggs, what they call hash-browns were in fact golden door stops. You get what you pay for! All I can say is I'm glad we got out of there only 25 bucks in the hole. Amazing experience. The service was amazing, the food was also. They immediately brought a free"kid's platter" for my daughter after asking about allergy concerns. Because that's just what you do here. See pic. My daughter LOVED it. I ordered the sliders, which I would say are the best sliders I've ever had. They were served on buns that you would enjoy at Christmas dinner at your moms house or something. Oh, and they had bacon on them. The fries had sea salt on top which was a nice touch. Lovely and accommodating place! We went for breakfast one morning and they have wonderful healthy options as well as your typical waffles, pancakes, and bacon and eggs! We got the yogurt trifle and the breakfast with toast, eggs, and bacon. Both we absolutely delicious!!! You can tell everything is homemade and organic and so good!!! It is a great place if you want somewhere quieter as it is off the beach so not many tourists go their. If you are doing a beach day however it is only about 10 or so minutes away (down by the rona). Wow, can't recommend this enough! Went for the weekend brunch (buffet style - don't let any negative connotations about that phrase sway you), and walked away absolutely impressed. Made to order crepe bar with GF and various crepe options, ALONG with dark rum, and Bailey's whipped cream topping options with fresh strawberries! Made to order waffle bar as well. All the other brunch foods were on-point, and they were constantly rotating them in small batches, so everything was hot and freshly prepared. Breakfast burritos were great, the cinnamon buns, along with all of the meat, fresh fruit, and plenty of vegetarian options. They also have beers on tap, full wine selection, and full bar with creative cocktails! Sadly, we don't live here, but if we did, we would undoubtedly make this a weekly occurrence. I have been to the Nest and Nectar several times and have always had the best services and the most delicious meals. Randy's staff is well trained, very personable and knowledgeable about what is on the menu. I too was asked to taste a particular dish before adding other ingredients and boy was I ever glad to have that kind of advice. Eating out is about the experience as well as just "eating"! The chef came to our table to see how we enjoyed our meal and even described the way he prepared it. We had the best time ever. Can't wait to eat another fantastic meal there.
