I have been going to Dr. McCormack for over 5 years. She is a brilliant doctor. I am very picky about doctors and would change doctors in a heartbeat. Dr. McCormack always listens with patience and caring with my best interest in mind. The PA's she has chosen to work in her practice are all very knowledgeable and caring as well. Whether I see her or one of the PA's, I know I am in good caring hands. As far as her billing practices, we are all responsible to know our insurance plans. If my insurance plan rejects a claim for a visit, procedure or test, I always pay it because I know that her office has fought with my insurance company to get the services covered. Sometimes, when my insurance declines to cover something, I don't find out until months later. I pay her with a smile because I know that her office staff went that extra mile on my behalf to have that service covered by my insurance company. Again, about billing, she is worth every penny in copays, whether I pay at the time of my visit or months later, when my insurance rejects a claim. If I need a special billing form for my insurance, I am always accommodated with a smile. Whether I see her or one of her PA's, it is the same. Her PA's are always learning because medicine and medications are an ever evolving field. An example of how much she cares about each individual patient, I came to her asking for a certain medicine. She reviewed the prescribing information with me to make sure I understood what was going into my body. That particular medication was 75% effective. After a few months on it, we changed how it was administered to me. This was based on MY idea that I asked her about. Dr. McCormack agreed with my theory (and I am no doctor) and we went with the treatment MY way. Now this same medicine is 95%+ effective and I have had a drastic improvement in the condition of my skin. I couldn't be happier to have a doctor who is willing to think outside of the box and LISTEN to her patients. Bottom line, I highly recommend Dr. McCormack and every PA that works for her. read more

This office left me with many unnecessary biopsy scars all over my body from PAs that do not know what they are doing. After getting both a 2nd and third opinion of moles that this office INSISTED be biopsied saying i was HIGHLY prone to melanoma despite 7 previous mole biopsy in the past 1.5 years being completely benign and 1 with mild dysplasia (practically benign), no family history, i never tan etc. i realized I was their biopsy cash cow. Every other doctor I told of my experience who I go to for routine skin checks have told me they were milking me for money especially given my age at the time (early 20s). This office literally traumatized me about skin cancer and I now go to a therapist to deal with very bad health anxiety and trust issues with doctors. Also for a punchline on how biopsy crazy this office is with even no moles. They biopsied a suspected fungal infection on me. A FUNGAL INFECTION. Ask any doctor and the first thing you do for a suspected fungal inspection is prescribe a fungicide and see if it cures it.. then you look further. Nope straight to biopsy. Saw Dr. McCormick the 1st time two weeks ago. Now, having gone back as not a "new" patient anymore, I saw her P.A. I asked him if she followed up with my other dr. to prescribe another medication she wanted to give me. The P.A. hadn't a clue and would ask her. I had waited 2 weeks for this answer and apparently she did nothing. And now I waited 20 more minutes with no one returning. So I left. Today,Oct. 1st I went to the office for a follow-up visit. I started going to Dr. McCormack's office about two years. I was referred to the PA...Robert Cipolla. He is wonderful....a good listener, explains the problem and which steps are involved in dealing with the issue. He always makes me feel comfortable in discussing my case. Oh, I wish I had read these reviews before coming to this place! I had nothing but bad experiences. And I kept giving them second chances, and they failed every time. Today was my last time. And I will make sure none of my friends or family will ever go there. For starters, Wednesday is apparently the only day that the "surgeon or doctor" is there, so they overbook patients. This means they try to make a lot of money at the cost of their patients time, because you can be sure you will be at that waiting room for more than 2 hours before someone even looks at you. The first time I went, was with my little girl, for her skin condition. Not only they had us waiting, as usual, but the doctor or whoever was that saw her, was in the room for less than 2 minutes! He was one foot in and the other out of the door! I started coming up with questions to keep him in. Absolutely unacceptable! I brought my daughter here for an initial visit. The PA rushed the appointment, did not answer her questions. The medication she was prescribed was not covered under my insurance so I called the office to see if there was an alternative and if not if a letter of medical necessity can be written and sent over to the insurance. I was told they would pass the message to the PA who would call me back- nothing was done. No letter of medical necessity, no alternative- not even a phone call back. I called 2 weeks after to ask again. Still no response. Also, I paid my copay the time of the visit and just received a bill for the copay in the mail. When I called up and told them and offered them proof of my bank statement and the receipt given to me by the medical assistant at the front desk as proof of payment. They told me once again someone will call me back, this time in 7-8 business days with an outcome--- An outcome--- seriously? It takes your business 7-8 business days to check if you took my payment? And I am offering you proof of the payment. Horrible place to deal with. read more

Worst experience ever. I had mohs done on my cheek. I knew it was going to be a process they said it could take up to 3 hrs between scrapping and testing. I had an 1130 appointment, was not taken in until after 12, scraped and done within a few minutes and I was told they would call me in a hour for me to come back. Over 3 hours, I am still just waiting. No call or anything. I finally asked and they took me in, so apparently they forgot to call me for 3hrs. There were over 30 people in The waiting room, mostly elderly and not enough chairs for them. I felt terrible for them. I was finally taken in after nearly 4hrs to be scrapped again only to be left alone in a room that had blood all over the floor and my tray that had my name had blood all over it. I asked someone to come in and clean and when I asked about my bloody tray they said oh well it's just you we don't use it in anyone else, so my blood has been sitting on the blade and tray papers for over 3.5 hrs, ok super clean! So what ever the procedure was finally completed at about 6pm and I went across the street to pick up my prescription that I was told they would be calling in at 11:15am when I arrived only to wait at Walgreens on line for 1/2 hr only to find out the office never called in my script. If I didn't need to go get stitches out this week I would never go back and I never plan on going back. It's so gross, the health department should pay a visit to them in surgery days. How can you not sanitize a medical room before a new patient comes in?? read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Had basal cell carcinoma on front top of my head. I was told before scheduling I would only have a tiny bit of hair removed from the area and if they had to go back in it would be a little more. The day I went for the Mohs surgery the doctor that came in literally scalped the hair off a large part of my head, totally unnecessary!! I was also told to leave it uncovered as much as possible to heal, which I later find out from my new dermo that that's the worst thing you can do you will develop scabs WHICH I DID over my stitches. Imagine how that felt when I had to have them removed!! I was charged a copay every time I went back for follow ups or to be seen because my head was a mess! (All about money) Do you think that Dr McCormack ever was scheduled to see me as many times as I went back because my head was a mess? NO! I am now scheduled to see a plastic surgeon for a possible scar revision! Do yourself a favor and stay far away... read more

I will never come back to this practice. Unfortunately I came here for nearly three years not knowing any better and had many mole biopsies. Many of those biopsies came back moderate/severe and they did further surgical excisions of the areas which required stitches. I am left with scars each about an inch in length that have turned into keloids for a tiny mole. I never saw the doctor and was always treated by the PA. The office would refuse to give me biopsy results over the phone during a pandemic. They kept insisting I make an appointment to come into the office for the results probably so that they can bill the insurance for the visit. It seems they only care about making money and did the more invasive procedure that they can bill the insurance more for. ALWAYS GET A SECOND OPINION! Also, they never addressed my original concerns and just wanted to do a ton of mole biopsies. When I asked about my original concern they said I would have to wait until next time because they already did too many biopsies and the insurance wouldn't cover anything else for this visit. My new doctor who is a medical director of a melanoma and skin cancer center basically said that the surgical excisions were not necessary and that a further shaving of the mole to determine if everything abnormal was removed would have been sufficient. This procedure left me with a little scar (just slight discoloration). A biopsy confirmed everything was removed. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE TO ANYONE. My father is a physician knowing better I went to Robert Woods they did the slides in their pathology office which came back negative.. .McCormick trying 2 cover her ass had another PA call me and asked if they could send them out to a better pathologist.. .My Dr in Robert woods did her internship with him and they still work closely together..Never heard from a real Dr Mcormick do you exist or just send your PAs out to make you more money so these PAs can pay back their loans....Get a 2nd opinion anywhere you go be your own adovacate....My daughter and I had 3 weeks of hell waiting for the results to come back from Robert woods thank god they were just A Typical moles....Stay away read more

This review is actually for Dr. Patricia McCormack. She works out of the Pt. Pleasant, NJ office and I had the unfortunate experience of meeting with her. I can see by other reviews, people were completely dissatisfied with their office visit and I can completely see why. First, the front desk was filled with young girls who seem to judge you and act like they do not want to be working there. When I said I do not have insurance and that I would be paying cash for everything, I was given a bunch of dirty looks, as if they pitied me. I have a good job and as long as I am getting my money's worth, I do not mind spending it. However, I did not get what I paid for. First visit was $150. They did a full body check and diagnosed the specific issue I had. I had a very small cyst that I wanted removed. The first doctor I saw said it would go away if the injected it with a steroid. That would be another visit and $75. Fine, as long as it would be gone. But then Patricia McCormack came in and said her assistant was wrong. I would the cyst scraped for it to go away. I felt uncomfortable and started asking questions but she seemed annoyed and walked out. She was in the exam room for a minute and a half total then left. So, I set up another appointment to get the cyst scraped and removed. That was another $75. I was ok with this since I knew it would be removed and it would be worth it. Took all of 5 minutes and then they set me up for a follow up appointment two weeks later. The office does not call to confirm your appointments so unless you remember to go, you are screwed. I called ahead of time because I had a feeling this follow up wouldn't be free and I wanted to double check. They told me it was $75 for a follow up apt, which means it's not really a follow up appointment! A follow up is for the doctor to check their own work. It should cost nothing. In this case, the cyst was still there and I would have to go and pay another $75 just so she can see that it was still there. Then, they would charge me another fee on top of that to get it removed again. Complete waste of my time and money. They were so unhelpful and rude. They did not act like they cared and I would never recommend anyone going to the Staten Island office OR the Pt pleasant, NJ one. Fuck her. read more

Came here the first time, had a biopsy done for our son. Then had to come back 3 weeks later for follow up. They ONLY accept copay in a form of cash, normally in most doctor's office follow up don't require copay. Over all, i am just not feeling this place, from staffs to doctors this will be our last i be taking anyone there never mind refering anyone else. And oh did i mention they even have a ATM in the office just to make sure you get them the cash for the copayment. Have no idea what kind of establishment is this, it seems like they care less about the patients. I should have done a research before coming here, because we had to return for our son's biopsy results and didn't want him to go through doing another one, that's why we are back for the follow up, other then that, NEVER AGAIN. read more

I visited Dr. McCormack on 3/1/13 for a rash and itching condition on my arms and legs. I saw both the Doctor and the PA. Neither actually diagnosed the condition or the cause. Instead I was told to use Dove brand soap, shower with cooler water and was given a prescription. I went to Costco to fill the script and was told that the cream would cost $900.00 It is outrageous to be given a prescription for that costly a cream without some sort of indication from the doctor that the cost was so prohibitive. I understand if I have a life threatening illness and this cream is the ointment that will save my very life.....but to use in the same sentence, to switch to a different soap and use a $900 cream, is scandalous. Was skeptical to come here because of all the negative reviews, however, my experience was great. Saw the PA Kristen who was very nice and helped me with exactly what I needed. Also, my appointment was at 3:45 and I was out by 4:15. A lot of the reviews mention the extended wait time but I got in and out pretty quickly without feeling rushed. I did not see the doctor so I cannot comment on that but I recommend seeing the PA Kristen who was very very nice. She wrote me a prescription and told me that if it wasn't covered by my insurance she would call and try to have it covered. It ended up being covered and was ready only an hour after I left the office so she must have called it right away. read more

I had previously written a positve review about Dr McCormack and her office staff in Point Pleasant however now I have the complete opposite opinion. I have been trying to get biopsy results and blood work from 3 weeks ago. I called, left messages and even stopped by the office today. Each time I was totally ignored. Today I was told to sign and release which I did. This staff member told me they legally have 30 additional days to give me results and my files. What on earth does this mean? On January 4th I had a horrible skin rash with severe joint pain, swollen ankles, wrist, tongue. This condition was severe enough to put me in the ER . I may add this could have been a reaction to medication that Dr McCormack prescribed. I still need to understand what had happened to me but apparently Dr McCormack and her staff see absolutely no urgency in patient care. I should have listened to the negative reviews. They are all accurate. If Dr McComarck reads this review-I would appreciate my test results as soon as possible as I am concerned about a possible reoccurance without having a proper diagnosis. Never again. I have been to this office 3 times and not once have I ever seen Dr. McCormack. I am beginning to think she doesn't exist. The PA was good but I would have liked to see the doctor - at least for the first visit!! The chairs in the waiting room are PLASTIC! And there is one wooden bench. Can you say uncomfortable! I cannot stress enough how awful this doctor's office is. I've been here multiple times for multiple issues and there has been scheduling problems, payment problems, they have lost my file, I have waited over an hour and a half at times to see someone (who is never the actual doctor), and I've never had a fully great experience here. The front desk people are not friendly or helpful in anyway, The PA are nice but I do not feel like I am being treated to the best of the ability. I am doing absolutely fine and never needed any kind of further treatment on the benign mole they told me I would die from. She has always made room me in her busy schedule and given me nothing but personal attention and care. Her staff is competent, efficient, and caring. I'm not sure which is worse-the negative(and very accurate)reviews or the doctor's condescending, self-righteous responses to them. My experience in her office is an exact duplication of the ones described here-young, haughty, rude staff and physicians and PA's who literally have one foot pointed at the door signaling that they don't have the time to deal with you. I wouldn't subject my dog to that office. The last time I was there -the waiting room was standing room only-with many elderly people having to stand and wait on the doctor-whose time is clearly more valuable than her patients' time. I went to this doctor 9 years ago and I see, based on recent reviews, I see she has not changed at all. What they say are completely true. I am the type of patient that don't mind the long wait time or even the rude front desk but when I make an appt with a DOCTOR I expect to be seen by a DOCTOR and not some peon assistant. What they say are all true, she rushed in with her 2 peons and disregarded anything I had to say and rushed back out, seriously it was not even 2 mins so I had to ask the peon assistant all my questions which he just looked dumbfounded. 2 mins is being generous seriously felt like 1 min! You make patients wait forever in the waiting rm but spend only a min with them?! I knew I was NEVER going to come back. I'm just glad there's yelp and reviews so people can be warned, wish I had that 9 years ago! And if I could give her NO stars I would but too bad yelp doesn't have that feature. Update: since the "doc" felt the need to reply to my review, i am going to say is even if I went to her today she would not remember who the patient was since she doesn't even spend 2 mins with the patient. there is nothing "strange" posting a neg review since we now have a platform to do so and did not 9 yrs ago! seriously, why would i call ur office to complain so i can waste my time, energy, & money AGAIN? I've been to doctors in Staten Island, Brooklyn and Manhattan for treatment for an auto immune disease. I visit the office monthly for injections and always had a pleasant experience. The staff is nice and caring, I also never wait long. Dr. Mccormack is very knowledgeable and takes her time and answers all my questions. I also take my children to see her and they like her as well. I would recommend her to anyone who needs a dermatologist. read more

I initially went to see Dr. McCormack in Dec 14 to evaluate a bump on my back that did not go away. Like others, I was seen by the PA. She said it was likely a cyst, that she could remove or the Dr. could. I told her that I would prefer Dr. McCormack. I schedule appointment for last Friday, Jan 9. I took day off from work as apt was @ 115. I get there early, wait 15 minutes & then was taken into room. Again like others I was asked why I was there, don't understand why it was not in my chart or their appointment schedule. PA comes in, told him that Dr. was to do procedure. McCormack then comes in very nasty & rude, tells me that I'm late for my appointment and that she has no time since she has a dentist appt. When I tell her I am not late, that my appt card said 115, she asks "Well, where is your appt card" - like I would lie to them. She tells me it does not have to be removed, that she could just inject it with cortisone - I told her to forget about it. I wanted it to be removed as my father had cancer, precautionary for me. I do not know why she considers herself to be a medical doctor much less a dermatologist as it strongly appears that she is only interested in the money making aspect of cosmetic dermatology. I would never recommend her or her practice to anyone - maybe she was good at one time or was able to be cordial & polite to her patients, but she should retire or just stay on the cosmetic side of things, It is very ironic that all over her office, they are these plaques that say she was named a "Best Doctor", don't know who she paid off to get those or if they are even real. read more

Wish there was a no star option. never see the doctor, long wait times, barely even examine you,can't get them on the phone, had to call 6 times to get the results of fa culture that took almost 6 weeks to get the results and then they refused to give me the results over the phone, said I had to come in to get them, so if they were negative, I'd have had to pay to get the results! If you roll the dice and go there, make sure you ask to see the doctor or else you'll only see a PA. I went to see Dr McCormack for some strange rash on my leg. Her staff was really friendly and helpful. She made me feel extremely welcome, and it turned out to be just poison ivy (first time i had it, in my 30's- who knew). I would definitely recommend Dr.McCormack and her staff.
