We also chose him for the way he captures photos - which were very natural and leveraged the background to enhance the entire image (our wedding venue was very nature-y, so it was important to us that the photographer knew how to work with the natural background). We hired her anyway…read morebecause wedding photos are very important to us, plus we liked the talent she demonstrated in her sample photos and thought that she would do a good job on our wedding at Pebble Beach. Well, the end product was disappointing because it didn't seem like she put in full effort to do our wedding, for whatever reason. Perhaps our decor wasn't up to her other clientele's standards? She missed a lot of details that I would have expected from a wedding photographer - example: there were no (I mean, ZERO) pictures of our dinner menu, from appetizer to entree. There were also zero photos of our band. If you looked at the photos she took of our wedding, you'd miss the fact that we even had a band. She also only took photos of our guests' tables at the reception because we saw her and 2 second shooters often standing around cradling their cameras instead of taking photos. Even then, those were simply posed photographs, not actual candids of guests talking, etc. Had she put in more effort, she would have at least caught some photos of our dinner entrees. Incidentally, we spent a big part of the budget on the food, so it was pretty bad that we had no professional photographs of it. Finally, the deliverables were less than stellar. We told her since the beginning that digital copies are extremely important to us, and since she shoots part of her photos in film, she would have to make sure that the scanned copies are sent to us. The first set of digital images she sent us were 600x800, barely web quality. I asked her to send us the original sized files, and all the black & white scanned images had grains all over them. In some of the photos you can even see the evidence of lint/dirt from the scanner. I asked her to re-scan the b&w images, and she sent over a 3rd set. The rescanned copies still had a lot of issues on them, but she refused to fix them further. She also didn't bother to edit the other photos, so the only edited ones we had are the small web-sized images. To this day, I am sad about the look of our wedding photos. We could've hired a number of other photographers and ended up with a better outcome. ***UPDATE*** Seeing that Suzy has responded to my review below - After this many years, I get nothing out of sharing my experiences, so I am not writing this out of "confusion" that I was at one-time happy and later changed my mind (in fact it usually is the opposite). I think saying that there were images in a "favorites" folder as evidence for my "satisfaction" of her work is a poor reason. I created a "favorites" folder to share the photos (which, mind you, I paid $80K for back in 2006) with family and friends. What should I have named it instead, "Photos that suck less"? What I named the folder has no relation to whether I was happy with her work for what I paid. If I wanted to go for lower expectations, I could've paid much less. And to say that it was our fault to not communicate that we wanted images of our dinner was rather ludicrous and offensive. Shouldn't it be a no-brainer that the couple wishes to have the dinner documented? If a wedding photographer doesn't inherently know it's important to capture photos of something as mundane as the entrees served at your wedding, do you really want to hire this person?

Yes, we were delayed in selecting our photos due to buying a home, moving, and dealing with major health issues. We finally sent our choices in April 2025 and apologized for the delay. Ken replied once, saying he was busy but would look at them that weekend. Since then--radio silence. No updates, no communication, and no photos. It is now September, nearly 10 months after our wedding, and we still have nothing to show for the money we paid. Ken has had his notifications silenced this entire time, and every call, email, text, and attempt to reach him has been private and respectful. We've tried to keep this between us, but after months of being ignored, we've had enough. This is more than a delay--it's a complete failure of service. A true professional would honor their commitments, or at the very least communicate honestly with their clients. Instead, Ken has shown zero respect for us, our wedding memories, or his own reputation. For someone who once marketed himself as a professional, this behavior is beyond disappointing--it's embarrassing. All we want are the photos we paid for. After this he completely ghosted us and has not responded to any of our emails, phone calls, or text messages. We have the wedding photos but they all have his watermark.
