The worst....Our HOA was foolish enough to enter into an agreement with these people...My guess is that the post-COVID labor crunch gave companies like them the upper hand with agreement with little, if any, accountability. Over several weather or schedule instances, they simply say "we will miss your collection day"...no communication or expression of trying to make up the pickup when the weather clears! We have gone weeks with NO trash collection due to this kind of depraved attitude towards customers. Because they have an HOA contract, there is no consequence for lousy service. Certainly understand that weather or other instances will sometimes prevent a collection from taking place - but NO offer to pick up on an alternative day? No communication? to make matters worse, if you dare to call them, snarky replies and responses in at least 2/3rds of the times you ask for help. They are in a position where they collect the full amount of money owed, deliver less than full service, don't attempt to provide the service they are contracted for to their customers....Of course, these are first world problems...we will survive..but we do pay for a service and trash is not being collected. It seems that they were recently acquired by Waste Management - the Goliath of the industry...expect higher prices and even less service...run for the hills. Another clue to avoid like the plague...the company's listing here on Yelp is not even claimed by their own business. I have never seen a reply to a review here posted about them. Our HOA has a contract to provide trash pickup even though the collectors leave trash on the ground that came from the truck as they threw bags in the truck. The HOA has also contracted with this company re: snow removal their work is deplorable. Thank goodness the temp will raise above 32° today. When I spoke to patriot, the driver thought I had a rug in my trash bin. On normal days, trash is disposed of and any trash that's missed their truck, stays in our streets. They're also incredibly loud - our prior neighborhood used a different company and it was never this loud. Literally sounds like they're breaking everything in sight. On snow days, they will stop service and not announce it. Even though their website says statuses are updated on social media, that's not true. And of course no one picks up if you try to call. I just submitted a complaint via their website. I don't know if it will actually go anywhere and I honestly don't care since I've been so disappointed with the trash service in my neighborhood over the years that I expect nothing less. I just wanted, for my own sake, to attach a picture so Patriot knows I'm not exaggerating. I'm sorry I used the extra trash bin for recycling. It was assumed that the large amount of large cardboard would be known to be recycling and taken as such. Instead I come home from a 12 hour work day to find boxes picked out of the bin and tossed into my yard. Our HOA uses them and we all wish we could switch. The trucks speed around the neighborhood with no regard for kids playing or pedestrians, sometimes start banging cans around before the sun rises (while we have sleeping babies), and they've missed us entirely before. My usually game is coming home and playing Where's Waldo with my cans since the can never put them back in the vicinity of my driveway. I've found the recycling at my one neighbor's and the trash at the other's, all on the same day. Today has reached a new level with them picking through a can to remove the cardboard, dump it on the lawn, for the one bag of recyclables. If this is the standard of service, I'd rather just drive my own stuff to the dump. read more

Absolute worst customer service. They claim to provide yard waste pickup in my HOA community every Saturday, but since the start of our contract, I've never seen them. They've been picking up yard waste with the normal garbage. Today, they did not pickup a bag of yard waste (1 bag), when I called to ask why not, I was told -- they would put in a request to have it picked up Saturday. If my community is NORMALLY scheduled for that day, why does there need a special request. She stated the trucks have GPS and they can see where they are, so maybe I'm not putting the bag in the correct place. I informed her, it's the same place used for garbage/recycling and there's no issue. So clearly it's with this company advertising a service that they are not performing. read more

Patriot cancelled two consecutive trash pick up days because of inclement weather without offering make up days per their website. Then they show up on a Saturday, unannounced. When my wife tried to flag them down after they had already passed our home, they told her to roll the overfilled trash bin to their truck because driving back a couple of hundred feet was apparently too much of a hassle. This is the worst disposal service. My HOA switched to them a few months ago and now they don't take anything outside the trash can. They left trash and boxes on the street in front of my driveway because they weren't in the can. I contacted them via email, someone responded with attitude and said they don't get out of the trucks anymore and said I can pay $45 and get an additional can. Seems like they just want to make more money and provide crappy service. I will definitely contact my HOA and see if we can switch back to old company. Bad service. Bad customer service. We've lived in our community for nearly ten years and we've used a smaller trashcan due to the larger trashcan not fitting in our garage with a vehicle. Our HOA began using Patriot about 2 years ago. On one occasion our smaller trashcan was taken with the trash but returned the following day. Last week our trashcan was taken on Tuesday and we expected it back the following day. It was never returned and we placed our trash bags out on Friday and no one picked the trash bags up. We called this morning and we were told we must use the Patriot trashcan they provide, which we never got and they wanted to charge us $50 to replace it. The customer service representative was rude and did not want to listen. I understand us using a different trashcan may add a wrinkle to their system but don't decide to remove our trashcan without discussing this with us. I would give Patriot Disposal a zero if I could. I belong to a HOA. PATRIOT has missed my trash at least 3 times since the new year 2023. When I call to complain, they try to blame me for not putting my trash in the right place. I have been putting my trash in the exact same place for 30+ years; at least 8 of those years Patriot has had a contract with my HOA and suddenly they are missing my trash. They hung up on me 3 times when I called to complain. Run from this company. They are unreliable and their customer service is the rudest I have ever seen. I have not received regular yard waste pickup in several months. Trash and recycling is fine. I have to call every week. They won't credit the HOA because they are picking up some houses on other streets but not on my street. They have GPS on their trucks and admit that the truck has not gone to my house. I have cameras and I can see they are not coming to my house. How hard is it to drive a truck down the ENTIRE street and pick up CLEARLY marked yard waste bins? I've been asked to email pictures of receptacles, asked if cars were blocking them -- every excuse in the book for months now to excuse their lack of service. I put out yard waste receptacles the night before in the same place as my trash. This company has complete disregard for performing a straight forward service. Customer service managers question customers, defend the drivers when they clearly see the job was not performed and tell you they put in service requests that go ignored. If your neighborhood has home gardeners and you want to be able to have yard waste picked up per Fairfax county guidelines, don't waste your time with this company. read more

The previous owners of our house trashed the garbage can. I tried calling them to order a new can at 4:30 PM. I was on wait for 30 minutes to talk to a representative. Promptly at 5PM, I got the message to call during normal business hours and they immediately hung up on me. If I'm in queue, I expect my call to be answered - especially after waiting 30 minutes. The recycling staff are ok but the trash pickup staff provide substandard service. Every trash day, our surveillance footage reveals how sloppy they are. Confused because our neighborhood received notice recently that they would not be picking up anything left outside of the the bins. This rating is based off my experience just trying to get a quote. Our current trash company has not shown up in week. So our HOA is currently looking for bids. the website has no option to request a quote. I called and for 30 mins I was caller number 5 in the queue. I took a quick second to look up the reviews on Yelp of this company while I go crazy listening to their 2 mins of looped piano music along with every 30 seconds being notified that I'm the same number in the queue. We've had Patriot Trash disposal in our community for over three years that I've been here and they've been super. The people who are on the trucks are kind, always smile and wave and hustle like crazy to pick up the trash. They are the fastest, most efficient group I've ever seen. They've upgraded their trucks to now have an automatic hand grabber that can lift the can and empty it, which has been very efficient. They do have specific requirements about the type of trash they pick up outside of the can, yard waste etc., but as long as you adhere to the requirements they take it. Waste disposal is a thankless job, one that we take for granted. I want to give a shout out to Patriot for the great job they do, no matter the weather! read more

This fact that they received two stars is due to the fact they haven't hit any cars in the neighborhood. My community contracted with them to empty our rubbish, recycling and maintain our doggie poop stations. They do not do the poop stations and when you call to complain they only placate you with "I'll make note of that". I had a special pickup set up for a nice clean boxspring. It rained all day that day and they didn't show so we had to hall it back into the garage, wet and dirty. Set it up again for the next week and put it back out, looking really gross and embarrassing now, but they still didn't show up even though I called to confirm the day of and they said they would definitely get it this time. I have called multiple times regarding how fast the driver goes on the tertiary residential streets. We have a ton of children walking to school at the time the truck comes down our dead end/cul-de-sac street. With the speed of the truck, they will have a difficult time stopping should a child run out into the street. I've called the customer service office and they look up the specific driver based on the street I live on and can monitor the driver's speed. But nothing has changed. They have been warned, and if something happens they can not say they didn't know about this problem. The individuals collecting the trash are also very rough with the trash bins, constantly breaking the bins. We've personally purchased multiple recycling bins and they've broken all of them. Our HOA contracts with this company for trash/recycling. If it were up to me they would be fired. Sometimes they don't show - period! No notice, just no service. We find out by trolling the online Nextdoor app -- someone usually calls the company and then posts an update but the company NEVER is proactive. The service itself is phenomenal. The billing on the other hand is ridiculous. I was charged a month early for this quarter with no warning or explanation. When I called to let them know of the mistake, the lady was bothered and was clearly irritated with my wanting her to credit the account.
