Pat and crew have treated me and my aging vehicles LIKE FAMILY since the first time I set foot at his former location in Broomall, PA. I was referred to him by a long-time race driver, auto builder, mechanic and all-around gear head who swore by his services and lets Pat handle the transmissions he uses or works on (mostly European). Back in those days I drove an hour from Delaware just to get to his former shop to deal with my old Ford and Honda transmissions that were starting to show small transmission problems. My experience at Pats was refreshing from the moment I opened the door and was kindly welcomed by the receptionist. Pat himself made time to accommodate me, take me for a ride in the car and point out the issues, show me technical data and computer readings, explain my options and weigh them realistically. They answered a myriad of questions and scenarios only a stickler like me usually comes up with. His whole staff was generous, friendly and forthcoming about my concerns without making me feel like I was wasting their time with my questions and curiosity. That alone won me over! After reading other reviews about Pat's, I called them and spoke to Pat about replacement of a clutch on my truck. I had done the work myself 2 or 3 times on other vehicles, but did not have the tools to do this job with confidence. After speaking with Pat, he assured me of their ability to do the work, and discussed my options of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd stage racing clutches, and which was best for me.(By the way, clutches are make and model specific, but after specifying clutch for vehicle, contact the distributor to make sure part actually fits vehicle, I went to 3 different websites that said the clutch would fit, but distributor informed me that it wouldn't fit!) Received the parts, bought a few extras that I needed to replace. Pat did a great job at a great price. Great shop with pleasant honest reliable folks! My car had two problems that I thought were related to the transmission so I brought it in for Pat to investigate. I didn't need to make an appointment and Pat was very friendly and accommodating with my walk-in request. I was fully expecting to need a new transmission and made that clear upfront, but Pat was able to fix both problems without even needing to remove the transmission from the vehicle, and for a tenth of the price of a full trans job. He went the extra mile and looked over the rest of the drivetrain and let me know of a few parts that were not in the best shape but not yet at the point of needing to be replaced, and even provided suggestions for how to prolong the life of those parts as long as possible. The car was in the shop for a grand total of 27 hours and Pat called with updates along the way. After he was done with the repairs he took me for a test drive to make sure everything felt and sounded as it should. I wish I could give more than 5 stars, Pat treated me like family and most definitely deserves every star and then some. read more

I have an older car, and when the automatic transmission started giving me trouble, I was terrified that it was going to cost me lot of money. I took the car to Pat's, and he ran a diagnostic and informed me that the problem was actually just a sensor, and it wasn't going to cost much to fix at all. He had it ready for me to pick up the same day. The car runs great now. They did exactly what was needed to fix the problem, and never tried to up-sell me anything else. Knock on wood, this transmission is going to be good for another hundred thousand miles... But if it isn't, Pats is the shop that I'll trust for the next repair. read more

After spending the past month working up north, I was ready to go home to Florida. Trans Fault light came on just as I was getting ready to start my trip. Took it into Pat's Transmissions on a local mechanic's recommendation. Pat diagnosed it, explained everything to me and made the necessary repairs in one day. Had our Hyundai Veracruz towed to Pat's on the recommendation of the AAA tow truck driver. Car would not go into drive. They diagnosed it as the bracket for the shifter cable. Apparently there is a rubber bushing that disintegrated. Pat fixed it in a different way so we will never have the problem again! Only $255 of labor and done in less than a day. Had the dealer tell me my 2013 nissan with only 36,000 (yes rarely driven) miles on it needed a transmission. Seems they are notorious for trans problems and Pat being in his line of work filled me in on the lawsuits, sadly I missed the extended 7yr 84,000 warranty settlement by 5 months. Now understand he didn't try to get my business he just didn't want to see me fork out the cost for a new transmission on a car with such low miles. He gave me the number for Cust serv. Nissan and told me to call and advocate for help. I did they took my info and created a case. Think about how many transmission garages would try to help you NOT have to pay to have your trans fixed. At no point did he try to get my business (he stated that the quote I had was a good one) he just empathized and wanted to help me. Who does that now a days? I had taken my car to my normal auto shop for what I thought was an oil leak and it turned out to be a right front axle seal leak for the transmission. My auto shop recommended I take the car to Pat's Transmission. I called them to find out the protocol as I suspected these types of repairs require me to leave the car. Mary Jane at the front desk explained I could drop the car off and that depending upon what was needed it could take a day or 4 days, though, I would know that after Pat confirmed the diagnostic by the auto shop. She also reminded me to make sure the transmission oil was topped off so I wouldn't have any problems until I could drop the car the next day. I dropped the car the next day(Wednesday) and Pat confirmed it was the right front axle seal. He let me know the part was order from Honda and he should have it the next morning. Mary Jane took the information on the warranty as I was lucky to have taken the 80k warranty (car was 74.5k) - she took care of contacting the warranty and processing the paperwork for their payment. Pat said the car would be repaired by end of Thursday and he would call to confirm. To his word, Pat got the car repaired by Thursday and I was able to pick it up. The team kept the car neat and clean too. I can't say enough good things about Pat, Mary Jane and the quality of work the team did for me to keep my 2013 Honda CRV in good running shape.
