I do love their pastas I did take also my mom's friends but they stayed so short in Galena for a two and a half hour drive. Anyways this is memorial Day and I don't have family anymore and I decided to go to Galena Illinois it's very quaint and feels like Gettysburg this restaurant that I went to I really love their Italian food was very busy regards to the ambience but I like how there's different floors and it has that old civil war 1860s feel. Other than that do come here again and try to explore Galena and all the other antique shops and one of a kind small shops for specialties

Children are welcome and there is a limited menu for them as well. But, when you are paying these prices, you expect a little bit more than what VV's has to offer. First, the toasted ravioli's are clearly mass-produced and just heated at the restaurant. Then, people must love the idea of salad and garlic bread (like the OG), but this is not a great offering. The bread is like that you would get at a pizza place with your order of pasta and the salad is literally swamped in onions and dressing. The pasta is house made, and fine, but that was about all that was okay. The veal marsala is just odd. The sauce is the consistency of a thick, brown gravy and it just serves to disguise the over-cooked meat. At over $100 for one adult and two kids, you'd be better-off elsewhere. Extra star for the wonderful service from Gracie.

We had been looking for a local farm-to-table experience when we found Campo di Bella. Our first…read morevisit was a Saturday evening which consisted of a five course meal. Everything about the evening was exceptional. The first course was bruschetta, followed by a refreshing fresh salad with lemon dressing. The main course was flank steak, cooked perfectly. This was followed by a cheese board with delectable cheese samples from local dairies. For dessert, they had an absolutely amazing home made vanilla ice cream. It was rich, creamy, and very tasty. We enjoyed it so much, that we immediately reserved a second dinner which had cider braised pork shoulder as the entree. Again, the meal was exceptional. It started with prosciutto wrapped cantaloupe. I've never had prosciutto sliced so thinly, it was tender and flavorful. This was followed by a butternut squash soup that was thick and rich. I didn't know butternut squash could be so flavorful. I cleaned my bowl so thoroughly that the host jokingly asked if they forgot to serve me. The pork was next. Served with honey crisp apples. It was tender and perfectly juicy. Again, a cheese board was served before dessert. All very tasty local cheeses. For dessert, a French apple tart. I could have eaten a whole tray, it was so good. I've now been there over 20 times. Every time has been exceptional. They offer a variety of wines, ciders, and local beer to go with your meal. They also make their own vermouth which is sweet, with a hint of clove. It's so good, in fact, that we like it on the rocks. Not mixed. The host, Mary Ann, is wonderful. She takes time before each course to provide background on the home grown or locally sourced ingredients. She also gives a history of the farm and her family and, if the season permits, offers a tour of their farm. Marc (Mary Ann's Husband) is the chef. He is a culinary wizard. As I mentioned, I've been back over 20 times, which equates to almost 80 different dishes. All of them amazing! My only criticism (it's a minor one) is that the room is small and cozy and it can get a bit loud inside. It depends on the crowd, but it can be a bit hard to carry a conversation. In summary: exceptional food and exceptional people. I could not recommend it more. Update (12/13/24): We've been coming back to Campo di Bella for the last 5 years. At least 60 times or more and we've never been disappointed. Marc and Mary Ann are incredible hosts that continue to create amazing meals and experiences.

The texture of the gnocchi was so very pleasing - little pillows of goodness. The main course of polenta, mushrooms and house-made italian sausage with polenta was hearty and wonderful. As always, the cheese course was very tasty with several lical cheeses I had never before tried. (I look forward to having them again at home . Dessert was divine! I am not usually a fan of chocolate, but this was delicious! At this restaurant, they use local ingredients as much as they can, too. Give Campo a try if you haven't already. You are in for a real treat!

Food: A nice selection of pizza, split between ones with and without tomato sauce. I got the Lombarda which has Gorgonzola Cream, Pears and Apricot Glaze and Arugula. My wife got a cheese, sausage, mushroom and onion (CSMO). Both of them came out, pipe hot, with nice crisp crust. Nice presentation for both pizzas. They were both good, but I was a bit underwhelmed with the Lombarda. If it had Apricot Glaze, it wasn't very noticable, and maybe was the reason that it needed a bit of salt to enhance the toppings. The CSMO was very flavorful, and clearly the better of the two. Service: Super friendly and helpful service, both when ordering and when the food was delivered. The cashier was patient and happy to give us advice on what their favorites were. Atmosphere: It's a small place. Some interesting vintage large photo print on the walls. The original bar is in the old darker section - more traditional for a supper club.. We stopped there for some old fashions before dinner - they were solid. Service was very good. We ordered our meals after some tough decision making after snacking on their very tasty warm rolls. I tried their special of crabbed stuff shrimp. Five large shrimp that were very good with a baked potato on the side. My wife got the encrusted salmon and was surprised that it was encrusted in a bread crumb cheese mixture. She really enjoyed it. Our friends got the chicken with pasta and the walleye - two thumbs up. We decided to try their ice cream drinks for dessert. One pink squirrel and one brandy Alexander. Both were good but we have had better and bigger versions at other supper clubs. Prices were typical for a supper club - not cheap.
