This was the second time we travelled up to Portage for Cimaroli's. Since we were last here they added a whole new modern building with large windows which makes for a bright dining experience. The original bar is in the old darker section - more traditional for a supper club.. We stopped there for some old fashions before dinner - they were solid. Service was very good. We ordered our meals after some tough decision making after snacking on their very tasty warm rolls. I tried their special of crabbed stuff shrimp. Five large shrimp that were very good with a baked potato on the side. My wife got the encrusted salmon and was surprised that it was encrusted in a bread crumb cheese mixture. She really enjoyed it. Our friends got the chicken with pasta and the walleye - two thumbs up. We decided to try their ice cream drinks for dessert. One pink squirrel and one brandy Alexander. First time here. The "Old Fashions" were pretty gross. When I watched the bar tender make them she used what appeared to be aspartame rather than a classic simple syrup. I love going to Cimaroli's when we are in Portage. It is my favorite supper club meal. We went on a Friday and I got the broiled fish. It was sooo good. I also loved that I could do all you can eat. I had some to take home when I couldn't finish what I had! The beans were delicious and the corn fritters were interesting. They are very cheesy or liquidy than a corn bread, but still tasty. The Italian Potatoes this time around lacked salt. I don't normally crave saltiness but I wish they had been a little more flavorful. I also enjoyed the $4 Old Fashioned. It was super tasty and you can't beat the price. Service was pretty good. Nothing to write home about. And the ambiance is your typical Wisco supper club. I did enjoy the bar area though. Honestly didn't get the hype behind this one. Very very popular place but food wasn't all that great and very expensive. I had gotten the Alfredo and it was not that good, borderline worse than Olive Garden for double the price! Noodles were overcooked and the chicken was very tendony. Our group of six ate at Cimaroli's Supper Club Sunday night. The ambiance was good, the service was great, the food was tasty and reasonable. The location was in a stretch of fields between Portage and the Dells. It was dark when we arrived, but the lights made a great beacon. A large parking lot full of cars greeted us. Cimaroli's can accommodate numerous guests with multiple rooms, and we were seated by the hostess immediately. Our server was friendly and cheerful. She took our drink orders. Drink prices seemed reasonable and once they arrived were well made. Old Fashioneds and ice-cream drinks just as you would expect from a Wisconsin Supper Club. Our server took our appetizer and dinner orders and brought dinner rolls. Nothing particularly special about these. (I miss the days where Supper Clubs served relish trays or cheese and cracker baskets.) Our group ordered Clam Strips, Escargot, and Mozzarella sticks. The clams were lightly breaded and plentiful, the snails buttery and garlicky, and the mozzarella melted and chewy. Successful appetizers all around. Most of our group had the flat iron steak for dinner with sauteed mushrooms or onions. I had frog-legs and fries. I was pleased with the proportion of frog-legs and enjoyed the light almost tempura like batter. The fries were crispy and flavorful. The group all thought the steaks were tasty though one complained it was undercooked. The mushrooms were a big hit. Cimaroli's is a good value and definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. Cimaroli's has been a family favorite for a long time. Consistently delicious food, great service from friendly staff. Wonderful, strong cocktails made by excellent bar tenders, and a great atmosphere if empty or crowded, usually the latter. The few negative reviews people leave, I chalk up to people that don't understand the truly local supper club experience. That or people that were rude to the kind staff. I have never been disappointed by their ribs, soup, salads, and definitely their steaks which I order medium rare. Best advice when you go, throw yourself into the experience, go with the flow, order a nice steak, some lightly battered shrimp and a good cocktail. Also, it gets busy and the wait can be a while, but that's the supper club way, so grab a drink from JoJo or Amy and be kind and friendly to the great staff. We drove an hour and a half to come here after hearing really good things from many. To start we got there around 6:30 on a Saturday. Thankfully the wait was only about 30 min so we grabbed a drink and went outside where they had live music on the patio- with a full bar outside. A nice little touch because the actually bar area inside was packed and loud. We got to our table and out waitress was very busy, but good. She was moving. We got refills on drinks and started with the crab dip. It was good and super quick. They obviously have food prepped and ready to go in the back. Had that gone and she came back and took our order. Hubby had the flat iron steak and I had the scallops. Both came out within like 10 min of ordering. Both were cooked really well, however both needed more seasoning. We had to salt everything. We got the Italian potatoes with it. They were interesting. Overall a good experience. If we came back I would probably try something else. read more

If I could give less I would. Seriously, I am banking on the fact they hope people take them up on their "old fashions" and get schnockered prior to going in to eat. My soup was salty and tasted like the broccoli had gone bad. I didn't eat it, so at least I didn't have to pay for that. The baked potato was mushy and actually watery. But wait, there's more! This is a classic Wisconsin supper club, much loved in the area and famous for its flat iron steaks. I loved the duck, crispy and full of flavor. The server's are also classic Wisconsin. We come here when visiting my parents. My dad loves the battered walleye dinner with shrimp. Kids tend to get the burgers which are decent but not really the main show. The loaded potato soup was a hit with the potato loving daughter. Their specialty is the flat iron steak. I got the 10oz with fries and mushrooms. It was not as good as I remember previous visits, but for the price it's a solid steak meal. It comes on a sizzling platter swimming in butter which certainly doesn't hurt the flavor. It's a supper club in WI, so it's got that cozy vibe and down to earth feeling. No reservations taken, so you may have to wait on busy nights. It's like walking back into the 90's.. not in a good way. Bad taste decor & colors. They're playing a 90's radio station loud in the dining room with some modern hip hop.. not appropriate for a supper club! The steak is nothin to write home about, and the seasoning they put on the steak AND the fish(which was full of bones) was a nasty artificial garlic flavor.. and they're butter isn't even real. This is a disgrace to true WI supper clubs. Wouldn't consider them a supper club just because they sell an Old Fashioned and have an old building. Won't be coming back BUT if you want a real supper club that is better quality? - Go to Hob Nob in Racine ! That is a real treat, the food and especially the ambiance it's as if you're back in the 50's. First time in Portage, WI for a work trip and decided to have dinner at the supper club. I had a terrible 1st experience at a supper club in Waunakee and almost didn't try this place. As soon as I walked in at 5 pm, several folks looked at me. Yes, I'm Asian and Portage is probably not very diverse?! However, the hostess brought me to a table shortly and the server was friendly. She recommended the $3 old fashioned but I had an iced tea instead. Based on the menu, it appeared they are famous for flat iron steak and I ordered the 16 oz medium rare with mushrooms for $33. There were some complimentary dinner rolls with a big slice of butter. The plate was sizzling hot when the server placed it in front of me. My first bite of the steak was delicious although it was more of a medium than medium rare. Tender, moist and flavorful. I ate 1/3 and finished all of the mushrooms. While dinning there, I observed the crowd was mainly elderly like 65+. You see large groups of friends or families and I guess it's rarely to see a single person dining out at a supper club. Just in case you ask, what's the difference between a supper club and a steakhouse? In my humble opinion, a supper club is nothing fancy like the decoration in Pappas Bros or Del Frisco's. The service was really slow...I ordered the salmon and it was the dryest piece of salmon I have ever had. My partner said his meal wasn't bad but for the price of what I received and the length of time it took for us to be served we were not impresse. We came on a Sunday, pretty early and it was PACKED. We were lucky and found a spot at the bar. They actually got people in and out pretty efficiently though. My husband was eager to try the $3 brandy old fashioneds and he said they were really good. Obviously, the be that cheap, they are rail, but still good. Once we were seated, we got our order taken and we got a LOT of food without realizing how much we really ordered. I never see corn nuggets on a menu, so I had to get them. They are my favorite, and these were delicious! My husband ordered the onion loaf not realizing it was an entire fryer basket of onions. Hahah, so just be aware, it's huge. He also ordered the soup. Soup and salad are extra with your meals here. I did order the salad, and it was "eh" for getting charged extra for it. But his soup was THE BEST cheesy broccoli we've ever had. We also learned that he got their last order of that soup! My husband got the scallops and he loved how they prepared them. Was similar to a wine and butter sauce but with vermouth. I got the chicken and mushrooms with a potato side I've never heard of before, but they were all AMAZING. I usually order steak, but wanted to change it up, and they sure delivered! Great ambiance with big bar & nice patio. You don't need an appetizer due to the portions being great, but I do suggest the corn nuggets with the honey butter. Who would have known there is a nice restaurant in the middle of nowhere? When I say middle of nowhere, I really do mean like in the middle of NOWHERE. Theres just grass and fields with trees, wild animals and a couple houses here and there (WHY?) and as you keep driving, you will end at Cimaroli's Supper Club. Its so random how I found this restaurant but I am glad I did. Well, all credits to Yelp (I love YELP so much)! My boyfriend and I were driving back to Madison from a couple nights in Stevens Point because of his work, and theres really nowhere to go in Stevens Point, WI except Fathers Fats. We were just driving and he told me to look on Yelp to see if theres any restaurant we can stop by for dinner before we get to Madison. Of course, I got my Yelp app open and in 10 seconds or less, I found Cimaroli's Supper Club. It had 4 star rating with more than 60 reviews. Not so many reviews so I was skeptical but that was the nearest, about 8 miles driving back the opposite direction (oops!). I opened my Google Maps to start navigation and I saw that it had more than 500 reviews with a 4.6 rating! That made me relieved and I was also proud of myself for finding this place, haha. Anyway, more of that driving in the middle of nowhere with hardly any cars and lights I was doubting if there really was a restaurant here. But I trust Google Maps more than anything so we drove and drove. Finally got to Cimaroli's and we were pretty appalled by nice presentation. The lights on the big tree was beautiful! We got in and got seated almost instantly. Our server was super friendly and attentive. They are known for their Flat Iron Steak as it made it to the first page of their menu. I had to try that and ordered ribs as the server recommended. My Flat Iron Steak was super delicious! So tender and moist. It was full of flavor, juicy and had a good distinct beef flavor! I finally understood why they were known for this! I also got a baked potato with it and it elevated the soft and tender steak even more. I always get my steak in Medium Rare and I hardly see any restaurants that cooks the way I like it. Well, Cimaroli's executed this Flat Iron Steak to perfection and it just melts in your mouth! Mmm, I think I want more of their steak. Boyfriend's ribs were also delicious. Not like the other place we recently visited (North and South), the meat just fell off the bone without even trying. He didnt need a fork or knife. He tried to break apart the bones, and there it was! It was so tender, I dont know how else I can describe how delicious it was! The BBQ sauce was a lot on the sweeter side for both of us but the meat tasted great! Who would have known you'll find a restaurant in the middle of nowhere literally. It takes everything hitting a perfect score to get the five star rating. This was our second visit in ten days and when we sat for a few of their outstanding old fashions the two ladies who bartended on our last visit remembered us and even picked up on where our conversation ended last time. As mentioned both the brandy sweet and bourbon sours were fantastic! And only $3 ea. They come in a very nice cocktail glass which must be 10oz. If not larger. From there we moved to dinner where I again ordered their famous flat iron steak making for both a 10oz. And a 16oz. Having been consumed between the two visits. They were very juicy and flavorful and served with the upgraded mushroom caps and onions. A cheap cut of steak cooked to perfection! The baked potato was crispy on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside. When you add the chilled slab of butter and a little salt and pepper it's perfection in itself! I also added the side salad with their only house made peppercorn dressing. A perfect trio for dinner. Service was also top notch Almost worth buying a house in the area! read more

I opted for the sweet old fashion, but you can also have pressed, pushed and the options go on and on. The BEST broccoli cheese soup I have ever had in my life. Pro's: fairly priced and strong drinks, great escargot, quick and attentive service. Cons: Bar is very loud, absolutely no seasoning on anything, all steaks are served on cast iron skillets, no salad bar, soup and salad are an extra charge. Not really a "supper club" in our opinion. My husband and I arrived at 6 pm and waited at the bar for an hour before our table was ready. The bar tenders were very attentive, and our drinks were excellent and not overpriced. Finding a place to sit is challenging. People are very quick to grab any open table, and some of the guests were a little aggressive about this, so be prepared to move quickly if you want a seat. The bar area is very loud. This was tolerable for about an hour, but we felt bad for the groups waiting 2 or 3 hours with small kids. Our server was very attentive and provided quick and efficient service. We ordered the escargot, which was baked in parmesean cheese. We were very optimistic about the rest of our food after the delicious appetizer, but that's where the flavor stopped. We ordered broccoli cheese soup, which was served in a giant bowl of Velveeta like cheese with chunks of broccoli. Quite honestly, we wished it was Velveeta because it might have had some flavor. This "soup" was so bland we had only a few bites, no matter how much salt and pepper we added. The table next to us inquired about how we liked our "pasta dish." When we explained that it was the soup of the day, they were very quick to all order salads instead. I ordered their 14 oz. Bone in ribeye, and my husband ordered the 24 oz. Prime rib. We both prefer veggies over potatoes, so I ordered broccoli and my husband had acorn squash. The acorn squash was great, but again, not seasoned. Apparently, all cuts of meat here are served on iron skillets, which come out of the kitchen sizzling hot. Great for smells and grabbing your attention, but it's a dangerous game they're playing with doneness of steaks. We quickly realized that we needed to remove our meat from the skillet, or our medium rare cuts were going to be well done very quickly. It was incredibly frustrating to have to hold up a 24 oz. Prime rib with two forks for 5 minutes until the skillet cooled. Sadly, it was a lost battle, and both cuts of meat were very overcooked. It might have been edible if they were seasoned in any way, which they weren't. My rib eye had some garlic butter on top, which helped, but my husband's overcooked prime rib was flavorless, and not even the au jus could save it. Sadly, the prime rib was taken home and given to the dogs. We were fooled by all the excellent reviews here, as I'm sure many others were. If you like well done steak with no seasoning, paying extra for "soup" or salad, and waiting hours at a very loud bar, this is the place for you. read more

Old Fashions were good and cheap. Food was bad. I ordered the 16oz flat iron steak, rare, because it was supposed to be their specialty. I got it, and tried cutting it in two different places, and both places I had to saw it with a steak knife, and still couldn't get a piece cut off. I stopped the waitress, and told her if was tough, and asked if this was normal. She didn't really answer me, just asked if I'd like a different cut of meat. I said ok, the 16oz prime rib rare. She said, oh sorry, we only have medium, maybe some medium rare. I'm like, I'll need to see the menu again then please. Mind you, this is at 4:30, and it opens at 4:00. I end up ordering the ribeye, rare, even though it's only 12oz. It was decent and rare. My husband ordered the Tuesday-Thursday special, a full rack of ribs,. His first bite or two was good, after that the ribs were dried out and bad. This only tells me they reheated leftover ribs from the night before or the week before, probably taken from the freezer and reheated. And if they didn't have any rare prime rib when they open, that has to be leftover from the night before, or who knows when, because they serve it every night. I guess they didn't want to make another chunk of prime rib to serve rare because it was a Wednesday night???? Anyway, totally disappointed in the quality of the food we were served, especially when specials are normally just that!! GOID!! Maybe it's better on the weekend when they're busier?? We won't be back to find out, that's for sure!! Definitely a waste of $70 plus tip. read more

Great service and really good entrees. We tried the Crab dip for an appetizer but it was under whelming, I was hoping for lump crab meat and it was more of an imitation crab salad. But the Flat Iron steaks were really good they were juicy, tender and actually cooked R-MR as requested. We shared a fried shrimp add on that was also good. We had a few different sides and the acorn squash was by far the best. My wife also enjoyed the spinach salad with hot bacon dressing.
