It is AMC. I expect my experience with AMC to be consistent across theaters and this one is exactly that. You buy your tickets downstairs on level 2 of the mall. They are two great food places there for parents to sit if they have a teen go to a movie by themselves. #ParentTaxi Once you take the working escalator upstairs, the snack counter begs you to purchase that popcorn and soda. Or nachos. Or candy. Or if later in the day, a drink at the bar. The movie volume is not excessive. The reclining seats work. And the bathrooms are stocked and clean. It is exactly what you'd expect from a movie theater. read more

I usually go to the Lake in the Hills AMC down my street, but this one was close to my work. I love this AMC, because it's low key at least when I was there on a Thursday night at 6:00pm. It's cool because they have enough kiosks so that you can just buy your tickets very easily. Then all the theaters are upstairs, which is great, because it feels private and quiet and chill. One of the key points about this theater is that there are unusually wide rows, so the seats are nicely distributed from front to back. It felt more spacious than other AMC locations. Lastly, parking was a breeze. I think there's a lot less traffic here as the mall scene has declined over the past 10 years. I'm on the A-List, so I'll be back! read more

You can preselect your seats when you buy tickets online. This was a nice convenience and allows you to take your time getting in. AMC seems to have consistency across locations. The theater was clean and had really comfortable reclining leather seats. They recline really far back to let you get a better view of the screen. No noisy audience when the movie started. Warning: technical difficulties at this location. We prefer to sit in the back row - we saw Shang Chi and Dune in two different theaters weeks apart, both times the overhead canned lights were left on. When we asked about it after Dune, the info desk person was very nice but simply shrugged and said they were aware, spouted some corporate spiel and left it at that. My family and I are at a point now that if we can't get good seats at AMC Hawthorn 12, we just don't go to a movie. Sounds snotty, doesn't it. Yeah... that's just how we roll now that we've gotten spoiled by the cushy, leather, barcalounger seating. The powered seating that lifts up your feet and reclines your back. The chairs are designed two by two, so my youngest son loves putting up the 4-inch arm chair and cuddling up with me like we're hanging out on the couch at home. There's an adult bar (did I mention it's a FULL BAR!!!!) The ability to pre-order our tickets... and not just that, you pre-order your seats so you know exactly where you're going to be sitting. Don't worry... if you get stuck on the floor, the seats are still just fine. The sound system is fantastic. And it looks like they may be getting creative with the rumble seats (they actually vibrate when the sounds gets to a certain level -- awesome for action-packed movies. It creates a whole different experience but freaked out my kids of bit (it was Zootopia after all). I don't know if they're going to put them in all of the theaters or if this is going to a specialized thing. Ask the theater. I've never had to wait long at the concession line. My boys love the fact that they get to fill their own drinks (you know those machines that have 50 different versions of Fanta as well as Coke.... it's overwhelming for an oldie like me ;-) The place also sells pizza and goodness knows what else. I haven't gone down that road yet... but it probably won't be long. The one downfall of this place is they don't sell buckets of popcorn. I'm sorry... but what?!?!?!?!? Isn't that a movie staple? Honestly not a huge movie goer. I'd much rather be on my couch and watching a Netflix movie than be in a theater. But this is the next best thing. I love that you can pre-purchase and select recliner seating. Once you arrive just scan ur electronic ticket and ur in. You can even pre-order food and drinks too (non alcoholic). The theaters are smaller averaging about 200 seats and I believe all seats are leather recliner style. The sound and temperature levels seems appropriate for my liking. Not too cold or too loud which seems to be the base very often. I will say the bar service is always slow but hey at least you can get a drank or two for the movie. The theater opened in a rush for Avengers because $$$$$. They were a bit short-staffed and the bar & restaurant still had not opened. Several weeks later, it's still ramping up to its full potential but it's worth exerting a little effort to go up an escalator to enjoy the movies. The restaurant won't be open until the fall, but there are more employees. The word is definitely getting out about the theater actually being open, which means online ticket ordering is a plus. And the seats, complete with cup holders, recline to your personal preferences. The sound system is fabulous with sub woofers maximizing the bass in every song, score, and explosion. Now the real question is how long it will be before AMC closes the "other" theater in Vernon Hills. Treat yourself (it's not that much more expensive) to sit in red leather recliners and enjoy the latest blockbuster or box office bust. Go online and reserve your seat(s) so you can waltz in whenever and kick someone out of their perfect seat. Just consider wearing pants instead of shorts because, well, leather seats. read more

So my son and I saw Jurassic in 3D it was good but probably wouldn't see it in 3D again any movie . However since the regular show was sold out the guy comped us a 3D movie. We had to wait another 45 Mintues so my legal22 year old suggested we go and have a drink. As I would have expected it was extremely over priced and not executed very well not to mention SLOW. My son ordered a Long Island iced tea it came out like a lemonade with no sugar. The lines were rather slow and there bathrooms were very dirty. If you want to go see a movie they have huge recliners I would suggest a blanket or coat ithe av was on and was very cold It is my second visit I would come here to pay full price over the competitors to see a non 3D movie because the seats and acoustics are top notch. Bought tickets at Costco so it shaved off the price of 3 bucks a ticket . However my date is very expensive and likes the good life. read more

This is a modern AMC with reserved seating, leather seats and reclining chairs. The seats are comfy. Their sound system is pretty good. The ticket counter has kiosks and you have to reserve seats to secure your spot. The theater screens are somewhat small compared to some other big AMCs. It's a nice, family friendly place. They don't have an IMAX screen here but they have a screen that features Dolby 5.1 experience. I haven't checked that out yet. I haven't checked out their concession stand so not sure how their food tastes. read more

3 of us were there last night for an 8:30 movie. The women's restroom next to Theater 10 was a pig sty before and after the movie. There was TP all over the floor and the garbage was overflowing. I did not see any employees to talk to when we were leaving. Perhaps you're understaffed, but the restrooms should be a priority. That's disgusting. One of my favorite go-to theaters--mainly for the cleanliness and super comfortable recliner seats. If you catch a movie in their dolby theater, the recliner seats are different from the standard ones. The width is a bit smaller, and the seats will vibrate along with the surround sound in the theater. Pretty cool experience, but not as comfortable. Minus one star due to food delivery fail. When you buy tickets online, the site gives you an option to have popcorn/drinks delivered directly to your seat at a specified time. I set the delivery time for 6:15, but no one showed up between 6 to 6:30. When I went to go inquire about it at the concession stand, they had it on hold with a note that said 'sorry we missed you'. Umm... pretty sure no one came to deliver the food. I think I will be opting to pick it up instead next time. read more

This is the best theater in the area. Similar to the AMC in Lake in the Hills, you get to reserve your seat ahead of time. That means no getting there early and waiting inline to get the good pesetas as everyone rushes in. All seats are good seats since they are the comfy recliners!!! Management is great here (I had one minor issue opening weekend they are awesome about making up for it) and I expect them to keep up the good work. Also there is a bar inside and you can bring booze into the movie. Love this theater! read more

This movie theater recently opened as part of an addition to the Westfield Hawthorn mall in Vernon Hills. The theater is very well made and having it be part of the existing mall is simply great. Downstairs you go to buy your tickets at kiosks. You then take an escalator to the second level where an attendant scans in your ticket, or scans your phone if you buy tickets in advance. They have your typical concessions. The popcorn is already in bags so the lines move pretty fast. There's also a bar upstairs if you fancy a drink with your movie. They have several Coca-Cola Freestyle machines so you can customize your drink how ever you like it. All seats are now plush recliners. They're unbelievably comfortable and recline pretty much all the way back. All the rows are leveled and there are dividers so there's plenty of space. It does seem however that there are fewer seats than in your typical theater. It also fills up very quickly. So you may want to grab your seats fairly early. Although some showings allow for reserved seating. All in all this is a fantastic new theater in the area. (I feel bad for AMC Showplace 8 down the street). It will surely become popular and regularly busy. read more

I tried out the New AMC Prime Dolby set up in theater 1 viewing Star Wars. It's good but not great. Here's a few points... I sat near the middle in Row E (Last row in the front section) The Picture: It's ok, average at best. I guess I was expecting a lot from the laser projection but it's no sharper or more "color accurate". It's actually darker and no better than any of the other AMC locations I've been to and I think worse as far as a picture goes. They might say blacker blacks... That means any dark scene the shadows blend in with the blacks and the midtones get pulled down. The mid to bright scenes are fine. C The Sound: I like the set up. They have feedback in the seats so they will vibrate when things are happening. Almost feels like a subwoofer in the seat which works well. A The Seats: For Rows A-E The seats are better than the other AMC seats. You can independently adjust the foot rest and the backs of the chair, very nice. Now you can actually lean back to look up if you are in a row close to the screen A+ A few other minuses... For Rows A-E The seats are to close front to back. If people have the footrest up you can barely walk by to get to your seat unless they pull their feet back. They removed the short wall between the rows so you can actually touch the seats in front of you. This also sucks because now you don't have a place to stash your winter coat (behind your seat) so either sit on it or keep it on your lap. This theater for some reason shuts the lights off when the preview starts so you cannot find your seat easily or read the seat numbers on the chair because they are not lit up. All the other AMC's I've been to lower the lights when the MOVIE starts not the 20 min of previews... This is a love hate situation. The Sound, Chairs, and vibration are great but everything else seems like a step back from the Dine In AMC line the one in Lombard which is excellent. I still gave it a 4 star but it has some annoyances... YMMV... read more

We're not frequent movie-goers, but it was absolutely necessary for us to see the latest Star Wars movie. I purchased our tickets online, a super easy process that allowed us to choose seats in advance, rather than fighting for good seats upon arrival. Because of that, we were also able to choose the movie time that had the best seats available, which is a total win in my world. We were in Theater 10, where we saw the movie in 3D. A staff member recommended waiting a minute or two before going in, as she suspected they were still cleaning the theater. No problem - we made the obligatory concession stand and restroom stops and then headed in. The theater was immaculate. The reclining seats were comfortable. My only gripe is that the wall that separates rows is great for most people. My poor husband, who is 6'8, couldn't fully recline his seat because there isn't enough room for his legs. That said, it was still more comfortable for him than typical rows of seating or even stadium seating, which pushed his knees and legs into uncomfortable positions. Otherwise, it was a great movie experience. I may be converted back to a movie-goer rather than a binge watcher at home. read more

This was our first time at a movie theater with the recliners and it didn't disappoint. The seats are large and very comfortable. They recline back and have cup holders and plenty of space in between you and the next person. We ordered our popcorn and drinks ahead of time and they were brought to us in our seats. This was a nice feature. The theater was clean but not perfect. We weren't able to get in the actual theater until 5-10 minutes before because they were cleaning but we still had to wipe popcorn off our seat before we sat down. This wasn't a huge deal and certainly didn't ruin our night. I will be back and suggest it to others. read more

I feel sorry for the owners who have seen two mega stores close down. When it first opened I was surprised to see so many cracks in the floor design. It's located by a ton of stuff so if you're early for a show or a date or w a group you can shop in the mall first or visit any of the nearby restaurants or stores in various strip malls. It was clean and the sound and stuff was fine. The seat arm rests and foot space could be roomier. I bought my tickets online and it's wasn't cheap or uber pricey, movies are so expensive these days it's only worth it if you want to see something. This theater needs to get their escalator fixed. You have to take an escalator to get up to the theater from the box office and it's been broken for at least the last two months. I looks bad that they don't fix this. Also, if you are going to see a 3D movie make sure they give you the glasses, I've gone to see two 3D movies here and always have to hunt down the glasses for myself. I kept trying to buy movie tickets in January, and they were always sold out by mid-day Friday for the Saturday night movies that I wanted to see. And now I understand why. When converting the theaters from the old "normal" setup to the new comfy chairs, reserved seating, they lost 2/3 of the seats. So while each theater now holds WAY less people, the resulting experience is a major improvement! Reserved seating, super comfy seats, great sightlines, You just have to remember to buy your tickets in advance. But then, when you do, you can show up right at the start of the movie, knowing that you'll have great seats that are actually together. So that's awesome. One issue though: we were in the last row and my only complaint is the plexiglass by my feet went up just a little too high and cut into my view of the screen (this is mostly because I am short, but I imagine kids would have the same issue). The solution was to not lean back in my seat, but where's the fun in that?? You wouldn't have this issue on the ground level, but I don't like to sit that close, and it was the same in all of the upper rows that had stadium-like seating. In the scheme of things, it's a minor frustration (you can still see, just with a line across the screen), but keeps the review from being higher. read more

This is a great movie theater! The place is clean, big, bright, and the employees are helpful and nice. I love coming here on a Sunday morning for movies because the AM show times are slightly discounted. Totally worth it especially for the nice reclining seats they offer! What even better is the assigned seating. No more having to arrive half hour early than the show time to secure a seat! Did i mention they serve beer / alcohol too!? I've only gotten the nachos and popcorn before and its okay and also a bottle of minute maid apple juice for almost 5 bucks... It is great that it's connected to the mall.
