My wife went for a couple issues. Slow tire leak, right front tire. Balance issue, suspect right front tire. TPMS sensors both drivers side tires. They fixed all that. Replaced the tire. Sensors working. Balance issue gone. But all the ABS/ traction controls lights and the stabletrak warning are now on. Immediately went back in and told them. They said they couldn't have caused that. They suggested that the lights would go out, just drive it a little way. Drove it a ways, returned, because the lights are still on. Well, you'll have to make an appointment. I note that they didn't notice the lights at all. Not when they started the work. Not when they finished the work. The lights come on immediately with the key. Still in the parking lot. Probably a wiring issue, likely the speed sensor. Just happened to go bad immediately after they fixed the requested items. Maybe the slow tire leak and bad balance were masking the issue, so the car couldn't see it. Maybe the unreadable TPMS sensors weren't allowing the ABS system to see there was a problem. But maybe the most unlikeable thing in the whole event is that they just didn't say "let's make you an appointment right now to see what happened so we can make sure you're safe." What they said is "you'll have to make an appointment." Some other time. On your time. After you call on the phone and wait a half hour while we do other important stuff. When you aren't standing right here where we can just look at our appointment book together and get you the very next convenient appointment. Their attitude was dismissive to a woman who probably didn't know mechanical stuff, they KNOW they didn't do it, and the problem will hopefully just go away. And it probably will. read more

I have been bringing my vehicles here for years and have always received exceptional service! I bought tires online and had them installed with Patterson and they told me about the warranty, I didn't know about. They fixed both my axles for about $250 less than the dealer. And most recently, they fit me in their busy schedule and I got 2 new tires, no appointment, for less than $200 when the dealer wanted almost $300 for 1. I have learned my lesson and will not be going back to Awfulberg (Auffenberg Nissan). Brian, you and your team are awesome! I will be sending anyone I know with car trouble your way! I used to think highly of this shop and recommended them to people. We took our Nissan Altima in because it had a hard time starting in the cold and you had to press the gas to get it to turn over. We never had any lights come on or codes show up. They kept the car for 3 days. They wasted time running dye through the power steering, we didn't have any steering issues other than having to add some power steering fluid a month ago but the level has stayed good. He said they couldn't find an issue but then finally got it to throw a misfire code. We paid $515 for them to change the spark plugs and boots. They also did a fuel induction service and oil change. We got the car back and it still had the same issue. The engine light came on, I took the car to autozone and O'Rielly, now there were two misfire codes. I did some research to try to fix the issue myself. Upon inspecting things on the vehicle I noticed that they didn't put dielectric grease on the spark plug boots. I took out the mass airflow sensor and cleaned it. I told him this and he told me that couldn't be the issue because they did a fuel induction service, which is a silly statement that means nothing. Anyways that had seemed to resolve the issue but there was an engine light still on so we brought the car back for two reasons, one was because I wanted them to put the dielectric grease on the spark plug boots, two, I wanted them to let me know what codes were showing. I specifically told Brian that I wanted them to call BEFORE doing anything! I told him that I wanted to wait and see if cleaning the mass airflow sensor fixed the issue before dumping in more work and more money in things that didn't fix our issue. We hadn't heard a word all day and called 15 minutes before they closed, which is typical for them as well. Their lack of communication is horrible. They said they went ahead and changed the mass airflow sensor because that was the code that it was throwing. When I arrived to the shop I discussed the issue of them replacing the part without consulting with us first. Brian said "well there must have been some miscommunication." No there wasn't. You did something I specifically told you not to do so you could make money. You told me the other day you would credit back the spark plug job if there was something else causing the issue. That was your way of not having to credit me back on a job I could've done myself in two minutes. When I told him that Kevin proceeded to laugh. I don't know what's so funny?? I have already taken that sensor out and cleaned it. It's the same process to replace it. Just because I'm a girl doesn't mean that I'm ignorant or incompetent about cars. He proceeded to argue that the spark plugs did need done because of the misfire codes. Misfire codes can caused for several reasons. He even admitted that to me on the phone several days prior when I told him the car was still having issues. He said they just started with the cheapest solution. He told me it had no lights or codes when it left. There was no light but there were codes. So I'm not sure if they just reset the light and didn't fix it. He tried to make me sound like a liar when I told him it had codes. When I picked up the car I also asked him if they greased the spark plug boots he told me that they didn't need to because they were already done the first time and he confirmed that with a guy who has worked for his shop for a long time. I asked if he would take them out to show me and he refused. I guess I'll take them all out and do it myself. I have pictures of how dry they are. You're welcome for diagnosis the real problem and doing your job for you. For someone who has "been in business over 40 years" you don't seem to really know a whole lot about diagnostics or you just don't seem to care, that way you can get more money for doing things that don't need done. The arrogant and condescending attitude is ridiculous as well. Now, I question all the other work that they have done after putting $1800 in a jeep last summer that still clanks and rattles. Live in Edwardsville but on the recommendation of a buddy gave Patterson a call. Price that was quoted was good so I drove my Wrangler out there. Close proximity to the bike trail meant I could ride my bicycle home. This was the second set of wheels and tires for my Wrangler and they fixed a hole in my now second set without charging me for it, a nice touch. Tires have been great with no issues, people working were courteous and my Jeep was ready to roll when they said it would be. read more

I have used this business, and I do NOT recommend!! I got my car back from a tire change with a damaged hatch handle!!! The owner stated it was broken when they accessed my car but forgot to tell me until I brought the issue to their attention. Honestly shocked at all of the good reviews.. This is the first bad review I've ever wrote about a company and that says enough as it is. I dropped my car off this past Wednesday night for an appointment on Thursday to get a sensor fixed. I purchased the sensor else where because I have a family member that can get me the parts at a discounted rate.. the day went on Thursday and I noticed I never heard from Patterson tire so I decided to call one hour before close to check in. The man who answered the phone stated he didn't know I already purchased the part and my car wouldn't be done until Friday.. I thought this was weird because the part I purchased was sitting in the front seat which means they never even touched my car the day of my appointment but failed to communicate that with me. Come Friday and I missed a call from Patterson tire and I call back 1 hour later (I'm a busy mom) and the mechanic stated " the part I purchased is the wrong one and since I called back to late he wouldn't be able to service my car til SATURDAY as if I didn't have an appointment Thursday the day HE should have noticed it didn't fit if he actually worked on my car, which he didn't. If you're wondering why I'm just now posting this review it's because although I now have my car I just noticed that one of the employees took it upon themselves to rub my oil change reminder sticker for another local business off?!? Unless you want a company to work on your car with poor communication, bad customer service skills AND childish behavior ...don't waste your time!!! read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. What a waste of time! Every time I think they will be better about my appointment, they never are. Not reliable at all. Plan on taking an entire day just to get an oil change and your tires rotated because they can't seem to manage their time better. Why give someone an appointment at 9 in the morning, to not even bring the car into the shop until almost 2 in the afternoon? I get trying to please your customers, but just straight up lying to them that you can get them in just screams unprofessional and just straight up disrespectful. I had 4 tires mounted and balanced and put on my truck. I gave them tpms sensors to install. First they didn't call me when the truck was done. Once I got the truck back the wheels weren't properly balanced and the tpms sensors hadn't been programmed. When I called and asked why not, the owner Brian said the computer wouldn't hook up. That would've been important information to have prior to my light coming on. Now I have to take it to a second, and hopefully more competent tire shop to rebalance and program the tpms sensors. And the owner is an ass..Go somewhere else. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Scheduled an alignment a week in advance because I have a 3-hour trip this weekend and the car has a little vibration at about 70mph. Told them on the phone that I needed it by this weekend and they ensured me that they could get me in today at 2:30. Took off work early to bring the car to them today and when I got there they said they were too busy to do it and they didn't know what to tell me. Great customer service. How about you don't schedule people for appointments unless you can keep them? What a joke of a shop. When I mentioned this to a friend, they let me know this same shop worked on their car for the same issue 4 times, charging them every single time, and didn't fix it...they ended up bringing it somewhere else and the other shop told them that Patterson stripped out some bolts and that was why the issue was still there. Never again...wouldn't take a dump in this shop's parking lot if I was about to crap my pants. read more

Keep in mind their quality of service may have improved since I have last had any vehicles at their shop, as it was sometime in 2007 I believe it was since I took vehicle there. I was going there between especially between 2004-2006 quite a bit for repairs, oil changes, diagnosis when needing a vehicle looked at, etc. I always had an appointment even if just for an oil change. I was also a command officer on a volunteer rescue team out of East Alton at the time and had even took both of our ambulances there at one point. To begin there were multiple times for my oil change appointments it would take 3 hours waiting there for them to change my oil waiting for them to get my filter delivered, which you would think when I made the appointment and they took down my information including vehicle they would make sure they would have filter in stock come appointment time . Then there were several times I went for oil changes waited 3-4 hours and was told it was done, paid, get home to realize no new sticker to check my oil and see it still the same as before just to have to call, and be told we're sorry, rescheduled and go back a week later and wait another 2-3 hours for it to get done. Then I had a 1992 Ford Ranger that I took there after a failed emissions test and required different sensors to be replaced, and it then passed, shortly after check engine light came on took it back to find the sensors that replaced were fouled in oil, they said it the truck had oil blow by and would need over haul or replacement engine to stop it, ended up getting a 2nd opinion about a week or two later from another shoo and it was like $100 repair and was fixed. On 1 the ambulances had them look at the brakes for soft brake pedal was told it needed brakes all the way around. Had 2 other shops look at it. All brake components were fine, just needed adjusted and bled, but both found something they missed, rear end was shot and about ready to go out. read more

Dropped the car off before 9 AM for brakes and an oil change and they were courteous enough to drive me home so i wouldnt have to sit there for that long. At 11 am ish i get a call saying what they were going to do so i figured the car would be done by 3 ish. No call. My 9 year old son had to walk nearly half a mile home from the bus stop at 3:45 in 26 degrees breezy cold. At 4:15 i called and was told the car was done and i reminded them i needed a ride to get my car, i was told later this evening. They closed at 5. No call, no ride, nobody answering the phone, no car. My husband works overnight, we had to scramble to borrow a vehicle so he could get to work. Had my brother in law not come through and drove from edwardsville to loan us his truck. it would have cost my husband $200+ for the 8 hours of work he would have missed and a point for missing work. Walk in this morning at 8:15 am and the first thing out of brians mouth (one of the owners) gaping mawed AWW LISA... i said AWW BRIAN. I went as far as calling the police to see if they would contact the owners so i could get the car last night and no luck. He offered to take the price of the oil change off which was around 50 dollars, i said how about 100 and he refused. ALL of the inconvenience this place put us through, I didnt think 100 was too much to ask off the 300 dollar bill. He refused. HE "forgot" about the customer that called him 45 minutes before the place closed and had told him several times prior that it was our only vehicle. pretty much from open to close for a 4 hour job, left us hanging with no vehicle, no way to contact them to GET our vehicle, put my child in danger of getting sicker than he already was, the extra inconvenience of having to borrow someone elses vehicle and make 2 trips to st louis to drop off and pick up my husband from work as well as replace the gas used for the borrowed vehicle. 100 off the price i believe should have been a fair compensation to keep a customer coming back and happy that they cared enough about their customers to make right THEIR mistake would have been the right thing to do for their 40 year old family owned business. Instead it was oops i forgot about you. I got my brakes fixed and and the oil change was free for the trouble that could have cost my husband his job and my son his health. I will never go there again and dont recommend anyone else does either. Now i know why those award stickers on their door for best repair shop or whatever stopped at 2016. read more
