Amazing! Still as good as ever - this is our 3rd year passing through and eating at Patty Cakes - it's just that good! There is a local restaurant. We were told as we ordered that they only serve breakfast on Sundays. They took our beverage order quickly and brought the coffee and water equally as quickly. We ordered the Hungry Mans Breakfast (3 eggs, bacon sausage, hash browns and toast) and House Made Hash & Eggs (2 eggs, corned beef has and toast) (same as the past 2 years) - you just don't mess with perfection. We ordered eggs overeasy. They brought us a treat of a small cup of homemade strawberry jam for our thick cut fresh sourdough toast - this was a new addition this year (the jam) and we enjoyed it. Nothing is particularly greasy but everything is cooked to perfection. This is one of those places that just makes the quintessential breakfast (or breakfast for lunch). You will leave feel satisfied and happy. July 2023 Amazing find! Last year we stopped to get brunch as we were starving and there aren't many choices along this stretch of road. We would come here on a regular basis if we could. There are a lot of locals but they are equally as nice to out of towners. So this year on our drive, we remembered their food and made a point to stop for a late breakfast. In particular, we recalled their delicious corn beef hash and ordered it again! Patty cakes has very good hashbrowns! They also have a wide variety of donuts. I typically just get them to-go. Dining in there just never seems to go very smooth. You can tell they are short staffed and it shows on the speed of service. The ambiance is what you would expect from a small town restaurant. It is cute, not overly crowded, and is generally busy. Would give 4 stars but service is just too hit or miss. read more

I've wanted to try this nice little place last year when I was up here for the Mesick mushroom festival. This year I was sure to stop by for breakfast. Very friendly staff greeted me with the menu and coffee to follow. Good menu for breakfast lunch and dinner is sure to satisfy even picky eaters. The portions are big, the prices are very reasonable. The food was good. The restaurant apparently burned down in 2014 but obviously it's been rebuilt and is open for business. The baked goods are all home baked and they offer cinnamon rolls, all types of fresh breads and muffins. I was told the chef, who I assume is the owner makes all the soups from scratch as well. Stop by this little gem if you're up this way and enjoy a meal. You won't be disappointed. read more

We stopped by this road side gem because we were drawn to the name 'Patty Cakes'. Since we were in cherry country I ordered cherry pie for breakfast. It was just what I hoped for. Tart cherries. Real crust. My husband ordered corn beef hash and eggs and pronounced it 'really good.' This is his go-to order on the road and he doesn't always gush about his choice. Patty Cakes is a quaint neighborhood restaurant serving up the community of Buckley. I give them 4 stars for their pizza, it's a good pie, nice chewy crust and an assortment of toppings to choose from. For the price I think the toppings could be heavier. My rating of three stars comes into play with some poor sanitation acts I've witnessed while standing at the pickup window waiting for my pizza. From the window you have a clear view of what looks like a small dessert, beverage prep area and anyone who is working in that spot. I've witnessed employees not wearing gloves when handing ready to eat food, touching pens, money and credit cards then building ice cream desserts going out to customers without washing hands before touching the food, and carrying dirty water cups by the rim and then filling up fresh water cups without washing you hands. I'll still order their pizza because it's delicious and I figure the high oven temperatures must kill off the scary stuff. The staff is very nice and the offer great customer service whenever I'm there. Improve your sanitation and I'll definitely add star. read more

Walking into Patty Cakes was like walking into a family members kitchen, super friendly and happy to serve you ( even could see the smile under the mask :) we had the sausage and biscuits ( very good) eggs , toast and did I mention all their breads are homemade. After spending time in TC this place beats any restaurant hands down. So thank you Patty Cakes for the home town feel, we will skip TC but be back to visit you again soon ! read more

Was totally blown away!! The bacon was crisp. Coffee strong and hot. Hash browns smothered (fresh mushrooms....whaaaaat?!?) And....The waffle....holy mother of loveliness!! Bought too many pastries to take home. I have no shame. We will be back!! Keep up the great work!! read more

My bf and I have stopped here twice so far during our Traverse City vacation. Cute little place with great food and cheap prices. It is located 5 minutes away from the TC KOA cabin we are staying at, which is convenient for us. I love the breakfast bagel! The staff is also very friendly.
