My wife and I visited this restaurant in Empire, MI for the first time yesterday. Both the inside and outside of the restaurant building were rather plain, it is located off a main road, was kinda confusing knowing where the actual restaurant part of the building was, were seated quickly, the dining room of the restaurant bar was okay and clean as was our table, air-conditioned, our server was average, the menu had a surprising number of lunch and beverage choices, our food took about 30 minutes to be served hot, was delicious but fairly pricey, and restrooms were clean and did not smell. Service was okay, average.

Looking for dinner & options in area was somewhat limited based on the time & the place. We got them right before closing & they was still super friendly. We ordered a pizza and ate outside at a covered picnic table. It was a perfect evening with one of best pizzas we have had in awhile. Two of us ate the whole thing.

Oh my goodness! Proper fish and chips with salt and real malt vinegar! Great service, hot food and an amazing Salted Caramel porter!! A delicious Friday night fish fry.

Stopped in for a pizza and some drinks. Peach margarita was delicious and beer was cold. Pizza was good but a little on the pricey side.

Fantastic sandwich and pizza option if you're headed to or from Sleeping Bear Dunes!…read more We came across Shipwreck Cafe after stopping for gas next door on the way to Sleeping Bear Dunes. We wanted a kid friendly option and came in for the pizza, but ended up being blown away by the massive sandwich menu! Don't be discouraged by the line - it moves FAST!!!! The young people at the register and in the kitchen are efficient and so nice!!! We arrived about half an hour before the sign says pizzas are ready, and the lovely man at the register said "sure!" when we asked if we could order a pizza. The menu has something for everyone - Including plenty of vegetarian options (I think they even had a vegan option). I loved my Griffon, and the meat eaters in our group enjoyed the SS Noronic (a BLT) and the Fitzgerald. Our kids devoured their cheese pizza! They also carry Great Lakes Co Chips, which are some of the best potato chips we've ever had. Our sandwiches were all so inventive with delicious, fresh ingredients, amazing condiments, and the most freshly baked "pretzel rolls" ever. If this place wasn't a vacation stop for us, we'd be back all the time! Our kiddos favorite part, bedsides the pizza, were the tiny plastic swords that came in our sandwiches holding them together. When they each wanted one more sword, we went back inside and the staff inside was so used to kids asking for more tiny swords that their response to "May we have two more swords?" Was "Sure! What colors?!" Very different from what the response would have been where we're from. :) We even came back later in the day for the frozen custard!!! All in all, it was a great experience with great food, great service, plenty of outdoor picnic tables under umbrellas, and something for everyone to eat.

We got the Il Porco pizza which had Italian sausage and sweet onion on it. We opted to get the Roman crust and it was very flavorful! The downside was it was a long wait to get our food. Like crazy long. We also did not know if we would be served our pizza or if we would have to pick it up inside- it was a bit confusing. We would definitely eat here again as the taste of the pizza and spot along the river was worth the long wait.

It tasted pretty good and the toppings were baked under the cheese. I ordered a water, which was about $3 and in a bottle - not what I expected, but I guess it is very fancy imported water from Italy. They also offered drinks like Olipop and kombucha which might be a little more worth the money. The girl taking our order didn't go out of her way to be friendly but it wasn't a bad experience or anything. I don't believe there was much of a wait before our order, but the pizza was predicted to take 20 minutes to make. The inside is pretty crowded but the picnic tables were cute to sit in. I do think the hours are a little strange, definitely not for early dinner eaters. Overall, it was a cute outdoor dining experience and they did consider gf and vegan pretty well!

Frontage on Eighth Street, but it feels like a neighborhood joint once you are in there. I apologize to Two Sons Pizza, for not writing a five star review, when the pizza was five stars. I mean, we've got The Filling Station for the real thin but still chewy crust. Excellent. Charles and Reid for Detroit style, which is life altering delicious (and I generally hate thick pizza). And Two Sons completed the power triangle with big New York style slices and pies. But what the F happened? They've always had a little bit of that dismissive hipster kind of vibe, where they try to make you feel like you're not important, or possibly not cool enough to enjoy how amazing their pizza is, or was. But now it's like the one or two employees who are there at a time, don't want to be there at all. And that's what the pizza tastes like now The slices used to be massive, like cutting an extra large pizza into six slices. They were priced accordingly, $7-8+, but well worth it. Delicious. Now the pies are old sitting around for hours, and they don't perk up when reheated like they used to. I don't have a problem with proper New York style slices, being reheated, that's part of the tradition. But the attitude I get is, if they aren't slammed busy, they don't care about having fresh food, and you just get what you get. It seems the employees don't care, they are like robots now, and unhappy robots at that. They've got the NY magic and the special sauce, they just aren't using it anymore. Maybe the chef quit, maybe it got sold, I have no idea. The last slice I had, I threw it in the garbage, and went to Toby's dog house, the hot dog trailer outside. But it was closed on a day it was supposed to be open. The guy behind the bar at Silver Spruce brewing has the same dismissive/dumb attitude. I wouldn't be surprised if all three places closed after summer 2026 ** since they are capable of making a good New York style pie, at least in theory now, just order a whole pizza. That way, it will be fresh. The slice game is dead there. **
