And they're open pretty much all the time, which is wonderful in a town where the restaurants are closed on various days and it's hard to figure out what is open when you need to order food. It's hard to mess pizza up, there's always exceptions though. I'm glad this isn't the case. As soon as you walk in the aroma of the oven makes your mouth water. I normally get a pepperoni and ham pizza, my favorite combination. The thick pieces of ham give it a nice salty taste that I like. The sauce and cheese just fuse perfectly. The crust is baked to perfection, the only crust my kids eat. The price is the only bad thing, feeding a family of 5 would cost you around $60 for two pizzas plus drinks. Call in your order, it does take a while. Take out is a must, only one table and its full every time. Parking is very tricky, they do have rear parking available. All in all, it's a very good pizza place, do recommend. read more

A pretty good quality pizza. Crust seemed homemade and our pizza had plenty of good toppings. My only picky issue was there was a bit too much sauce as it over powered the other flavors. We also got a side salad and breadsticks. The salad was perfectly simple. The breadsticks were fine but nothing to write home about. They lacked a little butter and cheese on top. I've eaten here quite a few times since I live in the area. The food quality is decent, but there are some things to consider. 1. Sometimes you will get up-charged higher prices than what's listed on the menu. To combat this, make sure you ask about the prices before you're off the phone -- for some reason, I usually only get up-charged if I don't ask about the price beforehand, maybe it makes me seem like I have deep pockets when I don't ask. 2. I've had my pizza messed up a few times. This is annoying, but doesn't necessarily ruin the experience. 2 times they made pizza using thin crust when I just wanted a normal pizza. 3. Attitude... This depends on who is working, and it's a crapshoot. Sometimes you get really good service, but other times not. Most recently I called in for order shortly after they opened and asked how much a medium would cost. The guy on the phone sounded very irritated that I called, and quoted me a price of 17.99. I know this is too much for a medium at a chain pizza place. Unfortunately, I hung up the phone because even if I wanted to pay inflated prices, I wasn't going to trust the quality of the food made by someone who is upset that I ordered food shortly after opening. Why don't they just change when they open if they don't want people ordering too early? I don't get it. If you're craving pizza and want to stay local, then take your chances here, you will most likely be content with what you get. The food shouldn't make you sick. But if competition ever comes to the area, I would put these guys as your second pick. read more

We were craving pizza, so we thought we'd give A' Papano's a go and we were not disappointed. Ordered bread sticks, a thin Hawaiian, and a thin plain cheese with an everything crust. They've got an awesome website so you can pick and choose exactly what you want, which was really convenient. The bread sticks were very good; you can get ranch, garlic, or marinara. The marinara was really tasty and home made but the garlic was a cup from some distributor. It would be really awesome if they had a pesto or something else available. The Hawaiian pizza was awesome, perfectly laid out toppings covering the entire pizza like someone had pride in what they were doing. Same thing with the cheese pizza with everything crust, perfectly cooked, crunchy edges and again a lot of attention to detail. The food all in all was great. What impressed me most was the attention to detail and the staff flying around the kitchen getting orders ready on a busy night while being really friendly. read more

Excellent pizza place! Seems like it is more popular to take pizzas to go rather than eat in but there are two tables in there. When I saw the menu I knew that this was the indication of greatness-they have a while chicken pizza menu! With nearly 6 types of chicken pizza to choose from and it was a tough one. Chose the chicken Tuscany and it didn't disappoint at all. Tasty and delicious crust, loaded with lots of veggies that they were nearly falling off! I got mine to go, along with a small garden salad. The garden salad had a nice surprise of provolone cheese slices in it, yum! The portions were huge--I had enough pizza for two meals! Def great value. Expect service to be normal for carryout, I waited about 20 mins but no big deal as it was nice outside and I could walk around or sit by the water while I waited. Papano's Pizza has good pizza with some different options for the crust. We tried garlic on pepperoni and cheese on the cheese. Also got the Greek salad with was ok but would suggest some extra greens to separate it from being so simple. Overall, a good meal. This place is always a stop for us we we got to visit crystal lake and Frankfort lighthouse. It is small inside and can take a while for the pizza to be ready which is why I didn't give it five stars. However, we always order ahead of time then drive into Frankfort to pick it up and take it to a picnic table near by (there are plenty of these) or take it to the beach and eat it there. One of my favorite things about this place is that they are open all winter. Wait a minute, that's not at all my favorite thing. It's the pizza! Pizza is one of those things that everyone is an "expert" on. They know what is the BEST pizza. Well one thing is sure, I've been getting pizza here for almost 20 years and feeding crowds of guests at the cottage from all over and I can only think of ONE person who didn't like the pizza. She also didn't care for Crystal Lake or Moomer's ice cream either, so we're pretty sure she was just crazy. The sauce is a more on the salty/garlicky side as opposed to sweet. I prefer savory to sweet on pizza. The crust is baked in a pan but isn't greasy so I suspect they don't add oil to their pans like pizza hut. It's a nice, chewy crust. And you can season it too! My personal favorite is garlic and sesame. You'd be crazy to order original crust here unless it's for the kids. To this day I find it remarkable they are able to make their sauce and dough in house. I say this because outside of metropolitan areas, this practice isn't common. This location lacks viable dine in, the atmosphere is starting to look a little old and needs some freshening up, but the pizza is just great. I, and my friends, honestly wish they'd open a location in Chicago. And that's saying something! In fact I'm writing this review from Chicago now and what I'd do to have one of their Buddha pizzas delivered!!!
