The outdoor market happens every Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the warmer months, May through October. I started around Horticulture Hall and made my way down the streets. I stopped to buy some local honey, to taste a fresh tamale, to smell bouquets of flowers. There are stalls with vegetables and fruits, bakers who are selling freshly baked loaves of bread and pastries, crafty people selling everything from potholders to crocheted Barbie clothes. There really is something for everyone at this farmers market. The farmers market kind of meanders around a couple of blocks of the neighborhood, and while I was perusing the vendors, I would also pop into a couple of shops that were nearby, as well as a church that happened to be allowing visitors to enter and see their beautiful sanctuary. There was a nice sense of community at the Lake Geneva Farmers Market. This city is close-knit yet friendly, and the farmers market felt the same way.

Location remains on the north side of the road. The farm no longer sells its produce through farmers markets or a CSA. The stand is its sole sales outlet. Pick-your-own remains $1.00/lb. Prices for already picked produce are still reasonable but up slightly from before. Everything is still grown with heart and free of chemicals. Stand should open this year around July 1.

It was great and would definitely go again! Pricing is fair. They require a $7 minimum per person. It wasn't a problem for us because we chose (2) 4 quart buckets. As of June 2026, 1 qt was $7, 2 qt $14 and 4 qt was $20. I feel their pricing is fair esp given the price of berries recently. They provide the buckets that you keep. You can either take a trolley, train (extra charge) or walk. The field wasn't too far about 10-15 min. We opted to walk both ways. The strawberry fields were pretty big. I highly recommend coming early in the day because it gets busy and the earlier you come, the bigger the berries. They stagger their plantings so it stretches the season longer. They also have lettuce, radishes, cilantro, raspberries and sugar snap peas this weekend. Everything except sugar snap peas were a separate charge. All of their pricing is on their website and their Facebook page has their availability for the day. Strollers and wagons are welcome, but no dogs. The market is worth checking out. They had meats, pies, gifts, donuts, drinks and some produce. I highly recommend the strawberry lemonade slushy. It was refreshing after a couple of hours in the sun. The strawberry donut was tasty, too. It was moist and tender and not terribly sweet. Will definitely be back next year for more strawberry picking. We may comeback for other pickings later this year.

The market is located in downtown area so there were tons of street parking and shops to hop in and out of while venturing the market. The vendors are all local and are super friendly! We always seem to end to find something. But I also love the variety. The only thing is that there are so many vendors and the booths are rather close together so it's often an ant farm getting through, you move in one direction and commit all the way through. (At least this was the case the two times we went!)

Once the summer kicks in, there is quite a variety to choose from. The produce itself can be really really good or really underwhelming. Sometimes it is hit or miss. The other things of the farmers market, like Lesters Bison and Nana's Rum Cakes and Wildflower Bakery and the wine tastings they have really help to balance out all of those nutritious fruits and vegetables-makes it worth it. It's all about balance, right? ha ha One of my friends turned me onto the Lesters Bison vendor, and I will say if you're trying to cut back on fat and calories and cholesterol, this is the way to go. So now instead of using ground beef, I try and pick up some ground bison. We also tried the bison patties already formed and they were really great. We weren't sure what to expect but I kid you not, very flavorful and juicy. If this was regular ground beef and it was that thin, it would have been dull, tasteless and dry- the difference was very surprising. They also have tons of cuts of steak (ribeye was of course delish), and other choices like elk, etc. Let me just say this for the record: get your ass to Nana's Rum Cakes! You will not regret this. This is rum cake on a whole nother level. The couple that sells them, one of which is Nana, is charming, delightful. And I love supporting local business, but the spectacular taste of these rum cakes is what keeps you going back. I'm an addict for life now. I like the plain-vanilla or the plain-vanilla with nuts, but my husband is a drag and doesn't like the nuts, hehe, so I sacrifice for him. ha ha While the chocolate rum cake was okay, we both agreed it was not as special. But the plain-vanilla and with nuts is not to be missed. The market is especially lovely in the late summer or early fall. Two days ago it was just gorgeous. And there are a lot of vendors to choose from. You can go to their website and see which vendors will be there which week. It's very user friendly. Summer hours are 3-7 on Wednesdays, but they are soon switching for the new fall schedule which is on Saturday (mornings, I believe?), so hit up the website for hours. Why aren't you there yet?? Do you love sunflowers? Blueberries? Chickens? Or farms?…read more Then schedule a trip to Blue Clay Berry Farm. Located near Lake Geneva, it was a fun stop during a weekend trip. Entry is a bargain at $2 per adult. The field of sunflowers was so beautiful. After being greeted by a couple of cute helpers, we were off to explore the rows of giant sunflowers. Each stem was a bargain at $1 each or 6 for $5. Great place to take photos as well. Although we were a bit too late in the season to pick a bushel of blueberries, we were able to pick a handful for a sweet little midafternoon snack. While at the farm, you can also visit the calves and chickens. We also picked up a dozen of the freshest eggs for $3.50 per dozen. So delicious. Thanks to Ella and her helpers for showing us the farm, letting us pet the calves and helping us explore the rows and rows and rows of giant sunflowers. Definitely an unexpected highlight of our lake getaway.
