I always stop by here whenever I'm in Wake Forest! Really love the vibes - the space feels cozy and inviting, with really comfortable chairs. Definitely a spot that you can stay for a while and work/study or just hang out. I usually get the basque cheesecake which is on the creamier side but always good. I also get the Italian hot chocolate, which is rich and creamy without being too sweet (the whipped cream on top is a nice bonus). Staff are super nice as well. I tried Paul & Jack Bakery for the first time two weeks ago and I've already been four time! Everything is sooooo good! So far my family has tried their Cookie Butter Matcha, Strawberry Matcha, Appple Danish, Strawberry Vanilla Crossaint, Cherry Pie, Carrot cake, Caramel Pecan Cinnamon Roll, and Plain Cinnamon Roll. Everyone had great things to say about their selection! I also love the atmosphere! They have plenty seating and are kid friendly with a toy section. The staff members are very kind. I'll give them two stars for presentation for sure. We ordered jelly donut stuffed with Raspberry and pistachio. Donut tasted like bread and pistachio does not go with the filling at all. Seeds should have been removed as well. Cinnamon bun again was just bread and cream cheese glaze barely had that wonderful cream cheese taste. It was more vanilla plain tasting. My husband and daughter have seen this on IG so we had to check it out. Everything looked so delicious that it was hard to decide what we wanted. We picked a couple of pastries to take home and then decided to share a Napoleon while we were there. The Napoleon was so light and flaky, we loved it! When we got back to her house, we tried a bite of the crème brûlée which had a nice caramelized sugar crunch topping. The cheesecake was airy and just melted in our mouths. This is such a gem in Wake Forest! Everything here looks beautiful and tastes even better. I finally had a chance to try the Brown Butter Cookie Matcha latte hot. It was sinfully good very rich and creamy. Sweet but not too sweet. It was so good I almost caused an accident trying to back out and savor the moment. I also had a buttery croissant. The service was great and fast. I am obsessed with Paul and Jack Bakery!! Ever since my client brought me a giant cinnamon roll, I've been a huge fan. Unfortunately, I do have to cut back on my visitations for obvious reasons (ha) but there's not a day that goes by that I don't think of those delicious mango desserts (okay okay, once they're back in season, I have to make my way back). Paul and Jack Bakery is a small cafe and it's always busy, so don't assume that there will be a table available. Every time I've gone in, it's always packed. Don't let the crowd dismay you, there's a reason why the line is to the door. The staff are all hardworking and kind. Even during busy hours, you don't feel rushed. They will take their time to help you with any questions. Everything is perfectly baked and there hasn't been a dessert or pastry that I didn't like. The cookies, cheesecakes, croissants...you name it, I've tried some flavor/version of it. Paul and Jack has seasonal flavors so naturally, summer is my favorite because mango is life. We found this place because of the adorable little baby they have in their advertisement on Instagram And it was so worth it! The pastries are so rich in flavor and unique. You can tell they were made with love. We enjoy grabbing our pastry with a cup of coffee (which I just love their drip), find a spot in the corner and crack open a book or sitting outside in the sun. The staff is also very kind. Little on the pricey side but well worth it. Asking for what their favorite things are on the menu helped as some thing were unknown to us being that they are their cultural pastries. 10/10 highly recommended read more

Had been seeing posts of Facebook about this place and had to try it. Got the chocolate ganache bomboloni and the baklava cheesecake. Both were exceptional! The bombolini was full of ganache just oozing out with every bite. The texture had a slight crispness when you bite into it with a wonderfully chewiness. Don't think I've ever had a donut or bomboloni with such an incredible texture to it. The cheesecake was more tart than sweet which was really nice and had a delicious baklava crust. Alright! Overall an average but solid experience here at this quaint bakery! Right from the start it is an inviting little spot that for its size is bustling with customers looking for a sweet treat. You're quickly greeting with the smell of sugar and coffee in the air. Now for the pastries, everything in the case just looks delectable!!! The service was also great and you are greeted by lovely staff that take attention in bringing out your order quickly. The baklava was the bigger winner from our selection. It was deliciously moist with the perfect honey and crunch. The chocolate croissant was fluffy and layered and a very solid choice to keep on getting. Now for the cookies/ brookies. First, the Italian cookie is exactly what you would expect, it's crumbly and sweet and pairs well with coffee, maybe wouldn't be my first choice to order again but a considerable option. Now the brookies to me were unfortunately a bit of a flop. They were much more dry and dense than what they looked like and the mini brookie especially was fully dried out needing coffee to enjoy, I would personally not order these again but if you enjoy a dry brownie maybe this is for you. Lastly the coffee, unfortunately despite the excellent machine they have to make coffee, the cappuccino I order was overall too milky and with the slightest hint of coffee poking through in the background. They do have a great selection of add in flavors, but I think first step is to ensure a proper and full extraction of espresso. I'd like to come back to enjoy more treats but the coffee and certain pastries above would not join my next visit. read more

I got a creme brulee pastry of some sort and my daughter got a cinnamon roll. Both were heavenly. I cut into mine and it got cream everywhere! Very messy. But heavenly. I heard many people ordering the crème brûlée cheesecake too. I wish I had taken a photo of their dessert case because it was full of dozens of extravagant pastries. I asked for recommendations on coffee and the person taking orders gave an honest review of many of the items they offered. Wow!! So delicious!! I originally had a hard time finding them within the plaza, but they have since put up a sign. I follow them on social and knew I had to give the basque cheesecake a try. I had only ever seen it on baking shows! It did not disappoint. Super tender and tasty, highly recommend giving it a try if you like cheesecake. I also love pavlova and theirs was spot on. Really everything we ordered was delicious!! I only wish they offered a smaller sized gelato for my son who wanted some but could only really eat a few bites. Stumbled upon this family owned, European-style bakery located in Wake Forest after getting off work early one day and am so glad that I stopped by. I got a couple of things to-go but they did have seating inside with tables/chairs (most were available around the early afternoon time that I went). Service was super friendly, and they were happy to provide me with recommendations on what to get as everything looked amazing. Their Basque cheesecake is to die for - so smooth, rich and the perfect amount of sweetness. I am always a little worried when trying new bakeries that some of the baked goods may be disastrously sugary but Paul & Jack's exceeded the mark in all things flavor and presentation. I am not the biggest ricotta cheesecake fan but gave their Blueberry Ricotta Pie a try, which was good and tasted fresh (but I am still partial to their Basque cheesecake). Love this place! Their honey lavender latte is THE BEST I've ever had. They also do an incredible khachapuri (Georgian cheese bread). The servers are all super friendly and efficient. My only minus is the tendency for customers to come in and rudely camp out for extended periods in a very small establishment. Today was the first day of trying Paul & Jack Bakery. I was looking for a last minute dessert and I stopped in to see what they had. Everything looked wonderful but I chose a whole mango cheesecake and let me tell you that was the best cheesecake that I ever had and that is what every guest said. This place was adorable - nice seating in a well lit room and there were a reasonable number of people dining in on a Saturday afternoon. The cases of desserts looked amazing, and my companion and I picked out four - an almond brooki, peach ricotta pie, an eclair, and a lemon blueberry croissant - and took them to go. The croissant was great, though a touch overfilled to the point it was incredibly messy. The lemon could have been a bit zestier, but the blueberry was lovely. The pastry was crisp - well made and tasty - though I am not convinced it was wholly worth the $6 we paid for it. A little too much filling and lacked that citrus punch I wanted from the lemon cream. I love a good eclair and this was a good eclair. The choux pastry was well made and the chocolate on top was really delicious. The creme patisserie inside left just a little to be desired. I don't even like vanilla that much, but it needed more vanilla and was a touch grainy. It didn't top my previous favorite local eclair. My companion wasn't happy with the ricotta peach pie as I think he was expecting a sweet cheesecake and this was not an American cheesecake. I thought it was quite good as it was not super sweet and you were hit with the taste of a good ricotta with the peach flavor sneaking in at the end. I would get it again, and it was a huge piece that would last me 2-3 days. The very best item we got was the almond brooki. We both love almond and that cookie was marvelous! If you could turn an almond croissant into a cookie, you'd get the almond brooki. It was crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and was intensely flavored with almond and almond extract. So, so delicious! If we go again, I'll get a few of these because they are pretty near perfect. Overall, I'd say the quality was high and all the things we ordered were tasty, but I feel everything was just a tad overpriced. Apart from the brooki, I wouldn't say anything we for was the very best example of what these pastries could be. I like everything we got quite well, but was left with a desire for a bit more intense flavors that would have made them great. read more
