This is for the frosty and miniature golf course... 1st the Frosty, we have gone there over the years and it's varied...but this summer we've been there for 4 breakfasts & 2 dinners. Breakfast: huge breakfast burritos that can be easily split. I've also had their sausage egg breakfast sandwich. I think they are pricey but it's always good & can't beat the location across the lake. Dinner & beer garden #nuffsaid ... Seriously same as breakfast, healthy portions & $$. The 3 teenage boys 13, 14 & 15 played miniature golf...$3 for 9 holes, $5 for 18. Challenging but they had a blast! read more

We stopped at the Paul Bunyan resort to grab some food. They have a restaurant (Frosty Restaurant) right in front of the resort with a nice view of Lake Almanor. The menu has a bit of everything. I ordered the turkey burger with fries. The turkey burger was way bigger then I was expecting. The flavors of that burger were incredible and it was definitely worth the price. read more

Owner Linda cashman worst host ever. No toilet paper, dishwasher leaked, no hot water first night, fire alarms in drawer not functional, disgusting bathroom towels, bird poop ALL over deck, tables, chairs, owner completely unresponsive. Bbq didn't work. Cabin faces overflowing dumpster in constant use by restaurant and visitors. Dumping station for neighbors that come couple times a day. Do not rent here. Try knotty pine, big cove, Carson cabins, vagabond. Literally anywhere. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Needs new owner asap. read more

After trying to find a room for four and with no luck. I called a friend Who called a friend and found this great little hang out. We stayed in the barn. to my surprise was in perfect condition. It is exactly was the manager said. a remodeled barn. it only has one Bathroom downstairs. however, it was extremely clean and the decor Was so fun and cute. the Frosty is right on property and the 9 hole Mini golf was a huge hit with our grand babies. The staff of the motel and the frosty could not of been nicer. I will go back here again and again. read more

We rented a 4 bedroom A-frame home from Paul Bunyan resort. It was a terrific place with gorgeous wrap-around decks. There was a playground in the backyard as well. So many beds in this place, we loved it. Included a huge grill and an updated kitchen. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the place and the views of the woods and of Lake Almanor. read more

After eating at Paul Bunyons for several years I was shocked to find the prices have gone WAY up and QUALITY has gone WAY down! Fish tacos which were one of our favorites were so awful we threw them out. The hamburger had no taste and the meat did not taste like meat. My question is what happened? Looks like they are using very cheap food products but raising prices to fill their pockets. One positive, the sundaes are still good. Sorry to have this experience, we used to enjoy picking up a bite now and again. No more! I'd like to know what happened!? read more

Best cinnamon rolls, breakfast burritos and shakes, too! Not a bad item on the menu. Definitely recommend the banana-butterscotch shake. Cinnamon rolls are a must, cinnamon roll French toast is fabulous, too! A must try when visiting the lake! read more

Only been to the Frosty and mini-golf here. Mini-golf has seen better days. Not well-maintained, but it's what you'd expect for a few bucks and being out of a major population center. Fun enough to goof around on. Frosty has decent ice cream. Not outstanding, but satisfying enough. read more

This if for Frosty and the Miniature Golf Course. AMAZING! Lots of fun! 5 dollars for 18 holes, its a small course and a little kitschy but so much fun and we would definitely be back. The Frosty was also great! It was pretty busy when we were there, so it took us a little long to get our food but it wasn't to bad. Once we got the food, everything was really great! I had the Garden Salad (which you never expect to much from) but this was really tasty and just what I needed! Other people in the party got chicken strips, taco salad, chicken tacos, rootbeer floats, and lots of ice cream cones and everyone enjoyed what they ate. Overall very excellent experience! I'd recommend to everyone as a must do while in Almanor! read more

Love the golf course! Had a really good time here with the whole family playing miniature golf then headed over for lunch on the patio overlooking the breath taking view of Lake Almanor. The hamburgers were really good and we topped it off with a frosty. read more

I stayed here for the weekend hoping for a little relaxation by the lake. We got far from it. We went to the frosty to check in, and were told that our "cleaning fee" would be $50 more than we were quoted when we made the reservation. When I told the cashier that wasn't the price I was told, she brought over a woman who looked to be the owner who told me that no one could have possibly told me that price and that they usually charge a $100-$200 cleaning fee not $50. She then proceeded to argue with me about it when the girl who booked my reservation came up and showed her the "pricing sheet" that she had used to book us. The owner told the girl that that was an old pricing sheet and that it wasn't supposed to be used (even though it was on the front desk). After the girl told her this, she looked at the other girl helping us, threw her hands up and very rudely told the girl to just charge us a $50 cleaning fee and then stormed off shaking her head. So it ended up being a $431 bill for 2 nights. The inside of the cabin was nice. Nice leather couches, lots of blankets..the outside was pretty run down though. Paint is peeling, there's a birds nest on the roof with a significant amount of bird droppings on the outside deck, dirty barbeque tools sitting on a filthy barbeque. Something I found weird was that there was a lot of half used hair products in a basket in the bathroom and under the sink. I dont know, just a little strange.. And another huge minus was that the girl who booked us told us we were in walking distance of the lake where we could go swimming which was totally not true. Across the street from this 'resort' is more campgrounds and a marina. THERE IS NO WHERE TO SWIM. Literally not one place around the entire lake. Its the water, with a rock wall, and then directly next to the wall is a house. Very disappointing. Horrible service. Expensive. Mediocre cabin. No place to swim. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Just prior to checking in we called to verify if they were pet friendly. We were told they were but we couldn't stay because we have a "Pitbull" in our family. One that is not only great with our kids, but every person and other dogs in general. I'm glad we called before we went and would have been turned away. Their ignorance with a breed of dogs is not only unfair, but ridiculous. Luckily we were able to find a RV spot at North Shore Campground for our week at Lake Almanor that was not only pet friendly but extremely welcoming. To top it off, we were constantly complimented on how wonderful our dog is from multiple people. If you are a pet lover and have pets in your family, I would not recommend giving any money to a place that is as prejudice as this one. read more

If you are any other race but "white" don't expect to be treated fairly, with kindness or even allowed to stay there. Our friends and we had reserved adjoining campgrounds. We made reservations in advance; but when we showed up, the owner Linda would not let us stay. She told us that she "overbooked" and reserves the right to refuse service to anyone. She was extremely rude. I'm Asian and my husband is black. We didn't fit in to her white campground. Our friends of course were let in and told us that there were a number of empty campsites. They are both white. Don't patronize this business! read more

This was our first time and not our last time staying at the Paul Bunyan Resort! The owners Tim and Linda were super friendly and helpful. We were centrally located. Having family staying in all parts of Almanor, and having a boat docked in a slip right across the street in Big Cove Marina, we had the best place to meet up before and after the day at the Lake! The Paul Bunyan's Frosty has incredible food, coffee and frosties!! The mini golf right off the deck was awesome for all our kiddos having a fun safe place to play! The Barn itself was so much fun, it had character and comfy sheets and beds! Having fresh warm towels delivered to us after a long day at the beach was perfect. Our family was able to have a long awaited get together filled will good times and memories thanks to the Paul Bunyan Resort. read more

This review is for the frosty. Ate there twice last weekend. On one visit, we had burgers which were pretty darn good. Service was quick and we had our food in no time. Sat outside under the nice trees. The next day, I had to run into Chester to do some shopping and stopped by here at 3:00 (Sunday) to order a burrito to go. Good lord. The wait was ridiculous. There was a long line but literally one overwhelmed girl at the cash register taking orders and one more even more overwhelemed lady cooking the food. Two other teen agers behind the counter filling drinks etc. but definitely overwhelmed. This is my first summer season up at the lake and since I have a house nearby I would like to be able to stop here once in a while and order food but it should not take 25 minutes to get a burrito. That said, the burrito was good. They just need to staff up properly. read more

Review of the Paul Bunyan Resort and the owner, Linda Cashman. We would like to give zero stars, but are unable, so we must give one star. Our family arrived at the resort on Thursday, June 14, 2018. No one was able to check us in at the cabin, referred to as "the Barn", or Babe's Bed and Breakfast on Thursday, because the resort is technically closed on Thursdays. So, we had no information or set of rules left for us about the cabin or the resort, and we were unable to ask any questions. As we walked around to check things out, it was clear that the cabin had not been properly cleaned for arriving guests. The deck and patio furniture were caked with bird poop and the barbecue grates were filthy with old, burned food remnants. We spent about an hour trying to burn off and scrub the old food from the barbecue, not to mention that the barbecue utensils were also dirty and just laying on the barbecue. No one from the resort had checked the deck, because there was also a loose board that bowed each time it was stepped on. It was very dangerous and we had to avoid it and make sure no weight was put on the board. The cabin sleeps six, however, all of the bedding and blankets were dusty. There were only three forks for use in the kitchen and no extra trash bags. The counters and table were dirty and we had to wipe everything down before use. The upstairs area gets very warm, but we were unable to open all of the windows because some of the windows were missing screens and we did not want to get eaten by mosquitos. There were only two fans left in the cabin for use, but one was broken. We built a fire in the fire pit, but were told by Linda, the owner, that we had not used the correct wood. Apparently, we were not to use the old railroad ties laying around, even though the maintenance man told us it was okay. The second time we built a fire, Linda scolded us again for using the wrong wood. We had collected dead branches and pine cones from the dilapidated, miniature golf course behind the cabin. Linda got upset that we had walked on the golf course, which was absurd, because what we collected was dead and actually helping to clean up the eye sore of a miniature golf course. Not to mention, we had paid for 5 rounds of golf on the course about 20 minutes before Linda got upset. All of Linda's frustrations about the fires that were built could have been avoided if the resort had available firewood for the guests. Unfortunately, Linda did not just get upset with us about the firewood, she also left a rude note on one of our cars that was parked in the parking lot overnight rather than talking to us. Where did she expect paying guests to park overnight? Two members of our family were staying at the Bed and Breakfast (Babe's) on the property. No breakfast was served unless the guests walked next door to the Frosty. The issue with that is that the Frosty does not open until 11 am. And no one from the resort told the guests about how to get breakfast. The bed at the Bed and Breakfast had a white duvet, which was soiled with something brown and crusty. The bedding had definitely not been washed. On the final morning of our stay, we paid the bill and checked out at the Frosty. Linda, the owner, wanted to grab the credit card as quick as possible and had no interest in asking how the stay was for our family. She was given a run down of out disappointments, but never once apologized or offered any kind of discount- not even for the six breakfasts not received at the Bed and Breakfast! After paying, members of our family were standing outside the cabin waiting and Linda walked up to us. She still offered no apologies, but instead tried to defend herself and the poor visit we had by blaming her employees and telling us that she had been busy with other properties. One member of our family asked her to leave us alone, because we had nothing else to say and she had already received her payment for the stay. Linda continued talking and would not leave until asked 13 times to walk away and leave our party alone. It was absurd! She wanted to argue, blame her employees for not taking care of things, and still offered no apologies. The resort could definitely be a fun and nice place to stay at Lake Almanor, but for our family, things were not cleaned and ready for our arrival. We were also treated very rudely by the owner. The other members of the staff were kind. If you plan on staying at the resort or Bed and Breakfast, be sure to ask questions and tell someone right away if things are not clean or broken. We tried to just go with the flow and not complain, but little did we know, the owner was going to harass us. It's a shame, but the stay was not pleasant for us and the owner was extremely rude. read more

We would not recommend this resort due to the lack of customer service by the owner. We had a sewer line overflow (not the one we were using) overflow. The owner, Linda, said that there was nothing she could do. She said we would have to find other accommodations and didn't offer to help in any way. Nor did she offer to have her employees wash down our motor home of the sewage left on it. Since we traveled over 500 miles to spend a week at this resort in the height of a busy summer season we were at a loss as to what to do. We left the resort and fortunately found a place to set up for the balance of the week. read more

This place is overall horrible. As for it being "across the street from the lake" it really means across the street from another resort. A much more beautiful, and friendly looking resort. The campgrounds look like there isn't enough space, and in general are very ugly. The mini golf course is probably the only decent thing there. It doesn't seem as great, but it is not that bad. As for the food there is very pricey! The food is not as good as for the amount they charge. There is a serving of fries with some meat on top for about $10, for that amount of money, those fries have better been touched by God. The employees there are indeed friendly, but something about them makes it seem like they are dying inside due to the job. When the owner (who always wears a vest and seems to have an odd obsession with them) walks in, her employees get a look on their face like they are scared. As I can tell why from other reviews, that the owner is very rude. She also seems very childish, and a cheapskate, as she seems like a complete scammer. I would not recommend staying the night at their bed and breakfast or any other place they provide, as it is quite expensive for a shabby room that smells like an old women died in it. On the other hand, the resort across the street is Big Cove Resort and it's very nice. I would highly recommend going there for a stay, it was truly one of my best experiences! No money is worth wasting at the Paul Bunyan. read more
