At 71, I still have all my wisdom teeth and my dentist wants to know know who did those fabulous crowns? They have been there 35-40 years. His practice had been open for only 2 years when he first saw my four year old who went face first off a skateboard. (Trying to imitate the older boys). The Rest is history. I remember his kindness, and that of his staff, when I needed it most. His craftsmanship is still with me today, maybe a few minor repairs, but no bridges, extractions or major changes. Fortunately, the office provides quality care that covers a wide range of dentistry, from the basics to extensive restorations. His referrals were also top-notch. Davis has friendly, relaxed chairside manner, and employs a staff of terrific hygienists to keep you well-maintained. They will strongly encourage your day-to-day proactive maintenance as the first line of defense, and not to rely on your periodic office visits to solve all your problems. Second to none! I met Dr. Davis over a year ago after a tooth tragedy and being horrified by dentists for a lifetime. I had to get a significant amount of work done and I can't recommend these folks enough! This dentist and team are very caring and all about good mouth health and the right treatment for the patient and give beautiful expert results. And they do it all with good humor and beautiful smiles! They focus on the patient and comfort, including warm water used during cleanings which I love with my sensitive teeth! I've been a patient with Dr. Davis' office going on 18 years now, and I cannot say enough nice things about this practice. The entire staff is wonderful, always friendly, accommodating, asks about my family every time I'm in, and just a pleasure to work with. Such a rare thing to find these days in a medical practice. Dr. Davis himself is fantastic! A dentist who takes a conservative approach, always thoughtful about the patient, their goals, pricing, etc. I have always felt like he has my absolute best interest in mind when making recommendations for a course of treatment if necessary. He too asks about my family, takes time to really know me, and I think that's fantastic. Their personal touch, mixed with the highest of professional standards makes me so happy to be a patient here. Dr. Davis himself is fantastic. Very sympathetic, very professional, & very thorough. His staff & hygienist...they definitely leave something to be desired. After having a wonderful experience with a checkup and temporary filling with Dr Davis, I was transferred to the hygienist. Not sure if I caught her on a bad day, but it was not the same level of service I had just received from Dr. Davis. She was condescending and short with me. I get it, I need to floss more, but I don't need you to look down your nose at me and give me a lecture. I needed additional work for a permanent filling, and replace some old mercury fillings. Dr. Davis had his team write me up an estimate and check my insurance for coverage. They came back with very high co-pay numbers. I told them it made no sense since I have great dental coverage, their response was "that's all we can do, you can check with your insurance if you want more coverage". I Later found out my copay would be less than 1/3 of what they were charging me if I went to a network dentist. Why wouldn't the admin staff tell me to check with a network dentist instead of checking with my insurance provider? Finally, I apparently had an overdue amount that was not covered by my insurance when I got the initial work done (big surprise). In their collection efforts, they sent a collection letter addressed to MY BROTHER! Why on earth would you send MY bill to my brother? We don't live together, I am an adult, I pay my own bills. I wonder if that is a HIPAA violation? When I called to get clarity, all I got was "it was an oversight on our part, we must have switched the letter and envelopes because you guys have the same last name." That would make sense if I had received a bill for my brother at my address. I am still waiting to see if that bill arrives. read more

Before I came to this dental office, I was always the model dentist's patient. As far back as I can remember, dentists would always tell my parents how great I was because I would just sit still and let them do their work. I was never anxious or scared, and never really understood why anyone would be. Sadly, this office changed that for me. The dentist himself, Dr Davis, was fine, although he did upsell quite a bit. As a young professional, I can barely afford dental work, much less perks like whitening, or a $400 night guard! The issue was communication. The dental hygenist who worked with me initially, Robin, was a bit of a problem. She seems to have a very strong personality, and when I sat down for my first visit, I told her that the usual numbing agents don't always work on me very well, and I would like to discuss this with the dentist when he comes in. She very dismissively said that the doctor would not let me be in pain. When the doctor came in, he seemed eager to get the work finished, and I felt like I couldn't say anything. So part of the blame is certainly on me, if I'm not comfortable with something I should bring it up regardless. I was so scared that I was going to be in pain that I ended up crying through most of the dental work, while the doctor and hygenist continued. I wanted to stop them and take a minute to collect myself, but I knew if I did I would end up a crying freaked out mess, and at the time I just wanted to get it overwith! If you choose to go to Dr. Davis, my suggestion would be to request to not work with Robin. That is what I did after that inital experience, and everyone else is perfectly nice, although they will all try to sell you on optional procedures and products. My personal recommendation is that if you are in clairemont, see Dr. Taddey or Dr. Cantwell, on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. They are fantastic, and after years of heavy anxiety when I go to the dentist, they have been instrumental in restoring my faith. read more

I have wanted veneers for a very long time. A friend of mine is in the dentistry field & I asked him for recommendations. It's such a commitment that, of course, I wanted to go to someone that was trusted. He gave me his top 3 and I met w/ them, but as soon as I met w/ Dr. Davis - I knew he was the dentist for me. It starts at the front desk. The women there are friendly and make you feel welcomed from the moment you walk in the door. The hygienists & the dental assistant are also great. I can't say enough about how NICE everyone is in this office. I get anxious at the dentist, like many people do, and the staff here was so kind & considerate and made me truly feel calm. On my form, I had mentioned compressed nerves in my neck & after reading that, Dr. Davis promised me a comfortable neck pillow for the procedures. I didn't even mention it - he brought it up. It's this attention to detail that makes this office an exceptional one. And it goes beyond that. While customer service is a big one for me, it's not enough of course when dealing w/ something life-changing like new teeth. And whoa. I cried tears of joy upon seeing my new smile for the first time. After years of being self conscience & hiding my teeth when I smiled, I'm a new person. I am confident. I smile bigger and more frequently. This is all because of Dr. Davis & his office. This will now be my dental office for all things teeth for life. I couldn't be happier w/ the level of service I got here all-around. Now if you had the same concern I did about The cost of veneers: It's pricey. Believe me, this will take me a long time to pay off. I get it. But you get what you pay for! It is worth every dime. No-one said a life-changing procedure would be inexpensive. And it shouldn't be!!! I feel confident in my new smile, but not just in how it looks. Also in that I believe it will last me forever. And that, for me, is priceless. read more

I absolutely adore this office and have been coming here since the mid-1990s (except when I moved out of state for a while and frankly got sub-par dental care during that time). Dr D is out of network on my current plan but I don't care. It's worth it to pay extra to get excellent care from highly professional staff. Jill and Rebecca at the front desk are top notch-always friendly and polite plus very good at what they do. Not a pleasant experience on first visit. It seemed odd to be told about teeth grinding and like the previous reviewer, I was told that I should purchase a night guard. If that was not strange enough (have never been told this by any other dentist) as I was sitting there getting my teeth cleaned, I heard the same spiel being told to another patient about how they must grind their teeth and should purchase a night guard. I have been going to Dr. Davis for over 10 years and have always had a great experience. I have never had to wait for my appointment and everyone is extremely professional and friendly. The office is spotless and has the latest technology. After several months of encouraging me to try Invisalign to straighten my teeth I finally decided to do it. I could not be happier!
