Don't worry, Be HAPPY

The dentist's office is usually a place that makes me nervous, but Paul Jang Dentistry is different. Every time I visit here I feel genuinely happy Today, I had a dental cleaning--it was so thorough and refreshing Thank you, Paul Jang Dentistry!

Jang did not double check his assistant's work and this is what resulted. I will never let these people touch my mouth again.

**Google Reviews did not allow me to post my review, which leads me to believe this business can flag negative reviews there. Very shady.** 4 yrs of botched work, yet I didn't leave a bad review even after I had to go into Jang's office 5 times because he and his assistants made poor temporary crowns that kept breaking or popping out, even though I ate carefully (1.5 hr total commute each time). I didn't leave a bad review after Jang said he was skilled in root canals and did mine instead of referring me to a specialist, only for it to fail, leading to a painful infection and extraction/implant. He refused to take responsibility and got angry and defensive when I suggested he performed a failed root canal. I was so upset by his response and lack of remorse, but I held my tongue. But after what he and his office did to my tooth most recently, I feel it's important to share my experience. I went in for an opinion on an aching molar, which he said had decay under a large filling and that he recommended a crown. I decided to do the procedure with him even though my gut told me to run--his services are more affordable than most dentists (for reasons I now understand). He removed the decay and told me I might be on the verge of needing a root canal, so he'd put a temporary crown on, and I needed to assess the pain for a few days. He disappeared, and his dental assistant made and put on the temporary crown. She told me I was good to go, but I asked if an X-ray was needed. She said it wasn't. Jang didn't come back to double-check her work or see if I was all good. I had a bad feeling, but I wrongly trusted them and left. I experienced more pain than I ever had as the anesthesia wore off, so I immediately emailed Jang. He said if this was the case, I definitely needed a root canal. However, when I looked at the temporary crown, it looked all wrong--the top of the crown at the gingiva (gum) was noticeably high, and I could see it was cutting into the gum. I missed 3 days of the first classes of my semester because the pain was unbearable--I had severe migraines and couldn't eat or talk. I had to take 800mg of ibuprofen and use medical MJ for 4 nights just to sleep, but I still woke up every hour because of the pain. I finally saw a specialist 4 days later. The dentist couldn't find a reason for a root canal but saw that the temporary crown was poorly fitted and too high around the edges, cutting deeply into my gums. Jang's assistant had also used a stronger cement for the temporary crown that caked around the edges and burrowed into my gums, which was visible in the X-rays. I've attached photos of the significant damage caused to my gum by Jang's temporary crown--there are large holes around the tooth, the gum is torn open, separated from the tooth, and raw. I was shocked that a temporary crown could cause this level of damage--this was the first time I had ever seen or heard of this. If Jang had taken two minutes to check his work and take an X-ray, he would've seen that the crown and cement were problematic. The crown bite was also far too high, causing severe trauma in the inert tooth below and intensifying the pain. Furthermore, Jang finished the decay removal without a build-up and just put a crown on top, even though he informed me there was a nerve dangerously close to the surface. The specialist was surprised to see that a build-up wasn't done, as this is typically necessary when the nerve is nearly exposed. How can a temporary crown cause THIS much damage? I had the most agonizing experience here, and the pictures prove it. I was afraid to speak up about the challenging experiences I faced because my entire family goes to his office, but after this, they're not going anymore. I am relieved to finally share my experience honestly and caution others based on what I've been through. UPDATE--4 days after removal of the temporary crown: I am still in so much agony because of the awful ditch Jang's temporary crown dug around my tooth. I have been woken up every night because of the horrible, aching pain. I am unable to eat solid foods. My quality of life has significantly been ruined EVERY single time Jang has worked on my teeth. I cannot recommend avoiding him enough. Like, come on. There are dentists in Ventura County who don't have reviews saying "he's inexperienced," or "his root canals failed," or "his temporary crown wrecked my gums and tooth." The fact is that Jang hasn't been a dentist long enough to avoid mistakes. Is sacrificing your health, well-being, time, and quality of life worth the few hundred dollars you might save from using his services? Please don't do yourself a disservice by believing all the good reviews because there IS a chance his short career will translate into negligent botchery. Please go to a more experienced dentist. I regret ever coming across this man. For 4 yrs he has wasted my time and caused me so much PTSD. Please learn from my mistake and don't go to him.

Dr. Batlle and his entire office staff have been nothing short of amazing. As someone who has never enjoyed going to the dentist, I truly appreciate Dr. Batlle's compassion, patience, and professionalism. He takes the time to explain everything, checks in throughout the appointment to make sure I'm comfortable, and is incredibly diligent and detail-oriented in his work. I never feel rushed, and it's clear that he genuinely cares about his patients and protecting their long-term dental health. What impressed me most is that he successfully fixed a problem created by my previous dentist. His knowledge and attention to detail gave me confidence that I was finally in the right hands. I'm so grateful for the outstanding care I've received from both Dr. Batlle and his staff. If you're looking for a dentist you can trust, someone who is skilled, honest, compassionate, and truly invested in your oral health, I can't recommend them highly enough!! Thank you!

I don't know if the guy working the front office heard me or didn't hear me when I said not to discuss any treatment plan with her because she will immediately say that she's not gonna do it. I made the appointment for today, brought my mother-in-law in and the guy upfront wouldn't allow me to go into the back to even meet the dentist which I found strange but OK. And then he called me in the back to discuss the treatment plan right in front of my mother-in-law. And then he started telling us about how he's got power of attorney over his mother so he understands. He doesn't understand. I asked him not to discuss the treatment with her and he went ahead and did it anyway then he told me he didn't like where this was headed so he sent me the x-rays that they did today and I'll find another dentist when you're dealing with older people that have dementia you can't assume that you can discuss things with them. He asked me for the power of attorney. I sent it to him immediately, he should've discussed everything with me out of air shot of my mother-in-law. He's in the business of making people feel good unfortunately he did the exact opposite. He sent my mother-in-law back about six months. It took me an hour to calm her down enough to where I could get her out of the car and back into her assisted living and she's still freaking out. What a really crappy way to handle your business. OK, I'm ready for your reply to tell me how you did everything perfect.
