I couldn't be happier with the job Paul and his crew did for us today removing a liquid amber tree that produces those seemingly never ending "spike balls" that get stuck in every crevice of the driveway, jam up the lawnmower and are very painful if you happen to step on one. The tree also blocked the view of our house from the street. I had to get HOA approval first but once I did I called Paul. I didn't know what to expect as I've never had someone take a tree down for me before. I was a bit worried because of the road being close by and dropping it in the wrong way would not be good. There was no need to worry as these guys were true professionals and dropped the tree exactly where they wanted to ran it through their chipper and cleaned up the mess like it was never there. This is the third time we have had Paul, The Tree Climber come out to remove some trees. He and his crew work so well together. They have always been punctual and they get right to the job at hand. For a few years we had used another tree company and we thought they did a pretty good job until there was some damage done to a couple of our concrete walkways when a huge diseased redwood had to come down. I truly do not know if the damage could have been avoided but I did decide to check out some other companies when we needed more work done. Paul, The Tree Climber was one of those companies. I called Paul to get an estimate on removing an Oak Tree near my house.  A different Arborist had previously stopped by my house and told me that the Oak Tree was dead and would need to be removed immediately since it stood over my house and power lines.  Paul made an appointment for the next day at noon, even though I lived about 30 minutes from the area he usually serviced.   The morning of the appointment Paul called me to let me know he was about 30 minutes away and arrived just before noon, which was exactly as he had promised.  Paul inspected the Oak Tree that I was concerned about.  Paul informed me that the Oak Tree did not appear to be dead, and pointed out that the tree was not falling apart or shedding bark like it would if it was dead.  Paul advised me to wait until spring then re-evaluate the removal based on its appearance.  I was pleasantly surprised that Paul had my best interests in mind, even though he could have made money from removal of the Oak Tree.  At my request, Paul inspected four other trees on my property that I was considering removing, and one that needed to be trimmed since it was near my neighbors roof.  Paul gave me an estimate which was very competitive and was actually a little lower than I had anticipated.   The whole time I spoke with Paul he was professional and there was absolutely no pressure or "Scare tactics" as I had experienced with other similar services in the past.  Even though I told Paul he didn't have to prepare a written estimate because I could remember the price, about 10 minutes after Paul left I received an itemized estimate by e-mail. Paul cut down a large 30" fir that was on a hill with a serious lean towards our home. As the tree was leaning over a hand built rock retaining wall it required all the limbs and main trunk to be dropped by rope to not damage our wall. It was magnificent to begin with and we were concerned about what it would look like after it was trimmed. The crew showed up on time, moved all the potted plants and outdoor furniture that was at risk of damage (and put everything back exactly where it came from), worked very quickly & efficiently and shaped the tree beautifully to 20 - 25' above the roof.
