I cannot recommend this company. They high-balled my roofing project with a large estimate, telling me it would take a team of 3 a full day to complete. It only required 1 person about 4 hours to finish the entire project but they would not bill by time and materials to reflect the lower cost. It was very difficult to get anyone on the phone who knew anything about my project in order to get it scheduled, and it was impossible to get anyone on the phone to discuss the billing complaints I had. I'm writing this review more for those who have had work done by Paul Yaman Construction than for anyone considering using them as they don't appear to be in business anymore (to the great benefit of anyone who may have been taken in by their many "awards"). I had them reroof my house and garage, install insulated vinyl siding, and wrap all the trim on the house with painted aluminum about ten years ago. We are now in the process of replacing a section of roof that rotted out due to improper flashing where the wall of the house meets the roof of the garage. Apparently, they left a section of the OSB completely unprotected by anything other than a overhang. Over the years, snow melt has trickled into this area and rotted out the area. In addition, they botched up the area next to the eaves, resulting in fascia behind the trim rotting out as well. Elsewhere on the roof, we discovered a broken shingle they mended with roof caulking which is now deteriorating resulting in a leak in that area, inproper flashing around each of the roof penetrations, failure to properly install step flashing around a porch roof, etc. If you had any work done by them, I strongly recommend you carefully check that work to prevent further damage from occurring to your house as well. read more

My parents had a kitchen and bathroom remodel on their house back in 2002.They are trusting people and have little experience in the trades , with my father being disabled at the time. Unfortunately I was out of the area at the time. As the years go by one can find on going evidence of amateurish work and lack of craftsmanship. Glaring examples include trim work off by a eighth of an inch, to exposed screws in their stock cabinets, to the laughable use of a mirrored medicine cabinet in the bathroom that is meant to be a built in and is instead mounted on the face of the wall. Every time I am at their house I see something more that I have to fix. Last year I noticed a water problem in the bathroom that I traced to a lack of caulk between the pieces of a two piece tub and shower surround. I caulked it and then had to repair water damaged sheetrock and then prime and paint it. Today I noticed a gap between the counter top and the backsplash where there should be caulk. In addition, the material (some kind of sheet faux stone veneer) that is on both the countertop and wall is loose on the wall. Once again there is water damage as it is right behind the sink. Wow. I should have been keeping track of my hours, because the repair work keeps coming.... But how would I get paid? Probably with monopoly money as this outfit apparently works with tools that say PLAYSKOOL....Seriously the work I see here would be skilled homeowner at best. I have been in construction work for almost thirty years and have been in the Laborer's Union for 15 and can honestly say the work I see here would be largely unacceptable on any job. No-one should be doing work as a supposed professional that has to be went over as I have had to do. I'm posting this because what I'm seeing over and over is mistakes in the most basic and obvious fashion which leads me to wonder what is wrong that is more major and possibly hidden. read more

Warning to home owners. For years we have used Paul Yaman's Construction Company, Cortland and Ithaca, NY. They have replaced our roof, rebuilt the deck around our house, and our last project was to replace the cellar door and replace the concrete leading down the steps to the cellar of our home from outside. The cost of this last project was $3700. They did part of the job in November, 2012 saying they would finish the painting in the spring of 2013. Everything seemed on track. However, in May of this year, when I went to open the outside cellar door, it wouldn't stay open. In order to remove the items I needed, I had to have someone come and hold the door open. I was upset at this time since Mr. Yaman had employed a number of teams to do this job and no one checked to see if the door would stay open? So they came and fixed it. The wrong thickness of wood was the problem. So the final part of this project was to repaint the piece of wood that replaced the incorrect piece. I called and left messages with Mr. Yaman. I got a call back from one of his team leaders. He gave excuses and was defensive. Finally I wrote a letter and never got a response. I called and got his cell phone number from his secretary, still no response from Mr. Yaman. The painter on the project called and gave a time when he could come and finish the job. This occurred the end of July, 2013. Still no apology or word from Mr. Yaman. I asked his secretary if he was sick or on vacation for those might be valid reasons for not getting back to me. There have been recent advertisements on television letting the community know that Mr. Yaman is expanding his business. I will no longer use Yaman Construction Company. I thought that I was a valued customer but it appears I was wrong. I should not have had to follow through with this project. Mr. Yaman should have been on top of that and made sure that the project was completed. I have always paid for the work done in a timely manner, even before he sent a bill. I would suggest that you not do business with a company that will not call you back or apologize for their error. read more
