Then I got suspended over something unbelievably minor. I threw leaves at my friends while we were walking outside, and later I gulped while my principal was talking, which they took as disrespect. That was enough to suspend me. After that, I found out my history teacher was telling other people about my suspension. I sent a respectful email asking one simple thing: "Please do not tell others about my suspension." The day I was supposed to come back, instead of letting me return, they called my family into a meeting and told us I was being expelled. During that meeting, they lied to my parents about what my email said. Then they made me leave the room and proceeded to yell at my mom while she begged them for one more chance. What makes this even harder to understand is that this was a Christian school. Christianity teaches forgiveness, grace, mercy, and second chances. Jesus forgave people who had made far greater mistakes than I ever did. Yet when I finally changed, none of that seemed to matter. They judged me by who I used to be instead of who I had become. That experience changed the way I looked at Christianity--not because of Christ, but because of the people who claimed to represent Him. If you're going to call yourself a Christian school, then live like Christ. Don't preach forgiveness while refusing to practice it. Don't talk about grace while holding someone's past against them. What happened to me wasn't Christ-like, and I'll never forget it.

The teachers and staff cared deeply about their students and constantly went above and beyond to support, encourage, and challenge us. I'm incredibly grateful for the environment they created. I always felt pushed to do my best while also feeling known and valued as an individual. The faculty invested so much of themselves into their students, and it showed in everything from the classroom experience to the relationships they built with us personally. As an adult now, I realize and admire how much the school emphasized character, faith, leadership, and integrity alongside academics. The lessons I learned extended far beyond my time there. No school is perfect, but I can honestly say my experience was overwhelmingly positive, and I will always be thankful for the teachers, mentors, and friends who made those years so meaningful. She had to pull snarling brats off of another all the time. She started to feel uncomfortable even though she'd been at the school for a long time. She likes where she is now much better. I did not like East Cobb. The gym teachers were all supreme dicks. One of them got hit in the face with a golf club once. He was a sassy dude and he one time gave me 3 detentions because I was running in the gym. If I let my kid go here it would only be because I'd want him/her to see how jacked people can be. They are tried and true when it comes to building a strong academic and behavioral foundation for students. They keep a solid routine which is great for consistency. The students also participate in field trips and activities that help them expand their knowledge and gain confidence in who they are. I appreciate their Covid-19 protocols in place like mandatory mask wearing and daily temperature checks. They only had to close once for a Covid issue all last school year. If I ever have questions or concerns, I can always reach out and get assistance. The tuition is also very reasonable and class sizes are small. I highly recommend Achievers Academy!

Four kids in gives us some perspective, and starting with academic rigor, to community service opportunities, with extra-curricular options galore, KMHS is an incredible experience. The Magnet program is a shining star for STEM prep, consistently producing students who succeed and excel at top universities. The Magnet crew is stellar all-around, and our kids made long-term quality friendships lasting beyond high school. We've had our runs but never been an athletic powerhouse, partly due to being the smallest 7A school by far in the state (moving to 6A in '20). Despite that Mustangs have frequented state tourneys/meets, and enjoyed great developmental coaches. From personal experience, the swim coach is the best in the state. Beyond the classroom the service opportunities include Mane Link, an outstanding servant leadership organization. The Special Needs Dance and Shop With A Mustang are two examples of how amazing this group is. Good teachers, supportive parent network, happy students are what you'll find at the Mountain.

There was a lot of emphasis on "be your best self," which sounds good on paper, but in my experience there was less emphasis on discipline, toughness, accountability, and the kind of academic rigor that actually helps once you leave a protected school environment. It helped get me into Alabama, but I was not especially well prepared once I got there, and that became obvious pretty quickly. Now I work in residential real estate, and while I do fine, it is not exactly the kind of challenging or deeply fulfilling professional path I once thought a school like Galloway was preparing me for. It is a very relationship-driven job with long hours, and if I am being honest, a lot of where I landed had more to do with family connections than with any real edge the school gave me. That is the part I think prospective families should think about. Galloway was good at making students feel comfortable and affirmed. I am less convinced it was good at pushing them hard enough to thrive on their own later.

They are still true to their mission in a time when many schools have tried to be too much, or worse, given up trying. Students are happy, supported, and empowered to advocate for their own education. The rhythm of the day is purposefully designed to help students learn and grow academically as well as socially. Teachers create conditions for each student to think deeply and participate actively according to their strengths. The day is punctuated by regular breaks allowing students to enjoy social community, lunch, and relaxation in between tutorials and class time. Students are very involved: they run weekly clubs and plan and host town meetings. There is time for sports and extracurriculars. Students can explore their interests casually as well as competitively in a welcoming atmosphere. I wish I'd known about it sooner.
