110% would not recommend. I sent my vehicle here for service and they jerked me around for several months saying they lost head mechanics and wouldn't be able to get to my vehicle, all while trying to refer me out to other shops. When I got the vehicle months later with no work being doing in their words "ready for pickup" the vehicle was dead in their parking lot. Which would mean they never even bothered to bring it inside to inspect it or least make sure it was good to be picked up. I had a FULL tank of gas 25 gallons+ when it was dropped off and it was on EMPTY when picked up. So they also stole fuel from me or let it happen. Ontop of that prior exhaust manifold work that they had done was leaking after leaving my truck with them. I been to this shop for service 3 times. They did subpar manifold work that needed to be replaced within a month of being done and again within a year. Not only is it pricey, they'll tie your vehicle up for a long period of time, break your vehicle and show no common care or courtesy. read more

I'm relatively new to the area and still looking for reputable places for car repairs that I can't handle myself. My beloved VW Jetta started presenting signs of an exhaust leak last night. I had a pretty good idea of where the leak was... but I knew that there could be other small exhaust leaks, and that the best thing to do in this situation was to seek the advice of a professional. The dealership I go to for service was booked solid until late next week, and I was in a bind. I called Paul's Custom Exhaust last night, and made arrangements to tow the car over and get it diagnosed this morning. As I suspected, nothing major was wrong. The car just needed a new exhaust sleeve and the repair was less than $100.00, right around where I expected. Although secretly, I wished there was more wrong with the exhaust system (so I could justify a nice new cat-back exhaust system to the Mrs. for safety reasons, of course), I'm glad that Paul's was honest and didn't try and take advantage of the situation. When I went to pick up my car, the place was packed! I'm especially thankful and appreciative that Paul's was able to accommodate the repair to my car right before the weekend. My ride home was pleasant, and the exhaust sounded quiet, just like it always had before the exhaust leak. And while I didn't get to put a Cat-Back on my Jetta today, I will definitely plan on taking my Squarebody C-10 for a nice custom exhaust once it's road ready. Had a exhaust leak caused by a broken flex pipe on my 2017 Chevy Sonic. Dealership wanted $600 to fix the leak. Brought the car to Paul's to get a free estimate. They were super friendly and quick. Once my car was in the shop within 10 mins they figured out the problem and gave me a price if $185 to fix it. I had previously already figured out the issue and new what needed to be replaced. They didn't try to up sell me or anything just simple fix. Would highly recommend them. GREAT SERVICE!!! read more

Had exhaust work done on my Acura a few years ago. Paul told me I had to use stainless steel due to Acura coming factory that way. I agreed and he charged me $300 to cut at the Y pipe and weld in Borla mufflers and tips that were both stained and added allegeldy stainlesa pipes. Well now both mufflers broke at the welds and the pipes he had some employee working there weld up. Called him and he insisted that they never agreed to stainless. He never provided paperwork wither but certainly took my money. He has refused to repair. As a dealership service person of 20 plus years he has reminded me of just how crooked and sleazy third party shops can be. What's even worse i had the same exact job done on my brother's Acura at his shop and the same thing happened to him. If you want quality work done this is the wrong place to go! I would definitely recommend Paul's. I had a pretty simple repair need myself, needing a new tail pipe and exhaust tip, but Paul came right out to take a look and estimate a price on the spot. I was worried about possibly needing more attention so I asked Paul to to see if anything else would be recommended while the work was being done. He had the opportunity to upcharge, but didn't take advantage. He was honest, telling me all else looked good and stuck exactly to the estimate given for the tailpipe. I have a pretty heavily customized 2005 Mustang, and needed to find a shop that did higher quality work than my regular go-to exhaust shop in Waltham, MA (which used to be decent, but has slipped significantly in their quality in the last year or two). An online search lead me to Paul's Custom Exhaust in Taunton as a likely place that could do the sort of quality work I really felt I needed. I called them on a Thurs and made arrangements to bring the car in on Tues to have the muffler tips swapped out with ones that I was providing. Paul met me when I arrived, and got the car into the shop quickly and up onto a lift. Paul reviewed what I wanted done, and noticed that the midpipes between the engine and the mufflers were hanging lower than is desireable (one of the items of dissatisfaction left by my prior shop). He offered to correct that as well, not in a pushy "upsell" sort of way, but in a very honest, "what really should be done to make it right" manner. Since I knew the problem noted to be an issue, I ok'd him to do the whole deal. The work was mostly done by Paul, with the capable assistance of a young woman on his staff who is quite apparently a very capable mechanic and welder in her own right. They worked very efficiently resectioning and correcting the routing of the pipes and removed the old tips and installed the new ones with great care and precision. The stated fee upon completion of the work was so reasonable, that I actually requested he add another $50, as a thank you, for the care he put into getting the system exactly the way I wanted it. Paul's is now most definitely my "Go-To" shop for this kind of work. He's about an hour's drive from my home area but it's worth every mile for the fair business practices, very professional operation and high quality work. read more

Yeah about a minute, you just can't get service this good anymore, I had my whole system re-done in a day and at a price I actually could afford! I had a similar issue with an old car and the dealership wanted 4 times what I just paid Paul. After seeing what dealerships offer and the best service from Paul, they are lucky he doesn't franchise! Went in to get my car running again after it kept stalling and thought i might as well also fix my ac. Obviously if he couldnt fix the stalling problem then i wouldnt have any use for an ac, yet he managed to fix the ac but the car continued to stall. Back i go a little frustrated but he managed to make it right and fix the stalling problem. Fast forward a couple days later and my ac no longer works. It is now blowing hot air after spending $700 on a new compressor. Back to pauls i go thinking maybe he forgot to refill the freon. Turns out its another damaged part that needs replacing. Mind you the car is 17 years old. My gripe is that the mechanic pointed out the age of the car in a what do you expect sort of tone. I expect the mechanic not to go ahead with replacing the compressor in the first place knowing with his expertise that the car is too old to bother fixing. Never again. read more

Just overall fantastic. These guys are honest, fair, and do a nice job which is so hard to find in this business. I had them replace my catalytic converter and I got price cheaper than what my personal friend quoted me! Very professional staff too. They're knowledgeable and do a good job. A major national chain priced replacing my whole exhaust system for $1400. It turns out the only problems were a hole in the rear muffler and the need to replace a corroded piece of pipe. Paul's Custom Auto Repair did the whole job, replacing the rear muffler and welding in a new pipe for only $200! The staff was knowledgeable, respectful, and professional in all respects. So I had one of my car's catalytic converters replaced by Paul's and it was fine until a year later when that same catalytic converter broke again. I brought it to him and explained to him that he replaced it a year prior (which he checked and verified). So, he tells me I'm all set and he'd take care of it - no charge. I get my car back and can't help but notice the exhaust is a bit louder than usual. I go to check my cat and there was none. He simply straight-piped it rather than replacing it. Since it's the catalytic converter the computer doesn't monitor, the car had no idea it was gone, so there is no check engine light and it passes inspection fine. I would have been fine with this had he told me, but he assumed I knew nothing about cars and tried to take advantage of that. read more

Finally, an exhaust shop that does only the work that needs to be done and not the work THEY want to do! I had estimates from Meineke and Midas that were outrageous. They both insisted that my entire exhaust system needed replacement in order to repair a crack at a flex connector. I'm a DIY'er so I knew they were trying to screw me out of $900 plus. I went to Paul's and he quoted me $100 to fix the flex joint! My car was in and out in a couple hours, no muss, no fuss, no upselling. The quality of the work and the honesty were refreshing. I'm not one to write reviews however, Paul is one that deserves a great review. We started going to Paul's four years ago when my son's exhaust let go a week before he left for basic training. Not wanting him to be any more stressed than he was I told him I would take care of it while he was gone. I got several prices from Midas, Speedy, my mechanic at the time, and others and they were all between $650 and $700. I even priced out all the parts with the idea of doing it myself. The guy at the parts store told me about Paul's and I went down to talk to him. He took it right in, and when he was done the price to install a new muffler PLUS labor was pretty much what the parts store quoted me for just the parts. As we were looking for a new mechanic to replace the one we were using for several years I asked Paul just what repairs he did do. He simply said "if it is something I can't do I will let you know". Since then we have taken several cars there for tune-ups, oil changes, shocks, electrical problems and suspension issues. He even did a transmission for me. The funny thing is my son's car was the only exhaust system he has done for us. I highly recommend Paul's Custom Exhaust for pretty much any repair needed. Don't let the name fool you. read more
