My family & I stayed here for two nights at the end of may ... very busy weekend .. definitely loved the free wine in the evenings & the staff was very friendly and helpful. They no longer have breakfast but they give u $20 credit to use at certain restaurants for every night you stay there . The room was clean . Only thing we did not like is that the back gate (which was next to our room in the very back of the hotel to the left hand side ) several workers just pulled it hard from the outside and were able to come in from the street in the back which made it feel a bit unsafe while my kids sat in the sitting area outside our room. They also offer beach towels & luggage storage while your boat arrives . Tip: If you're a light sleeper maybe ask for a room on the second floor , we were in the bottom and the second day the guests that checked in were loud & kids running around all day since 6 am ! read more

Very nice small hotel. Sheets and pillows were so soft. The rooms are small but the location makes up for it. The hotel is located right on the front boardwalk with plenty of seating to enjoy the view and everything is in walking distance. The location is perfect. But the hotel also has a cheese hour and small refreshments which is really nice. They will also hold your bags after check out until you are ready to leave. This is really a good example of the small touches that add to the overall experience. The landscaping is really nice too. read more

The Pavilion Hotel was a quaint 5 minute walk from the Catalina Express, allowing you to see all the views Catalina Island has to offer. They offered service to take your luggage to the hotel but we decided to carry them as it was pretty close! We arrived before our check-in time, and the staff was very kind and accommodating letting us leave our luggage with them before we checked in. They gave us a sheet of the amenities they offered, including a complimentary tour of the casino and free bike rentals. The tour was at 2 pm so we did that while they got the room ready. The room was cozy and the bed was very comfortable and had a little patio outside. The room came with two robes which we loved! There was a free continental breakfast offered, and many other reviews raved about the omelettes, however they did not offer them on the morning we went. One of the highlights of the hotel was the wine and cheese hour they offered daily from 4:30-5:30 pm, with three different types of cheese and four different variety of wines, a very nice touch! Checkout was at 11 am and they allowed us to store our luggage since we were taking the 7:30 pm ferry. They also invited us to come back again that evening for their wine hour which we thought was a very sweet gesture! TIP: Rent a golf car and drive around the island! We stayed at this cute little hotel in the heart of Avalon for a few days, it's a great choice if you want the best location for your visit. It's very close to the ferry, also right across the street from the beach, many shops, restaurants and bars all around. The hotel itself is very beautiful with a lovely courtyard, the room we stayed had a little patio that was very relaxing and quiet so we hung out there a lot during our stay. The room itself was OK, a little small and cramped in my opinion, but they had decent amenities and nightly turn down services with free artisan waters and chocolates. Hotel offers free breakfast and daily wine and cheese hour, we didn't eat any breakfast cause it was too early for us, but the wine and cheese tasting was fantastic that we enjoyed it so much. The hotel staffs were extremely pleasant and helpful all the time, we had no complaints whatsoever. The Pavillion Hotel was the perfect spot for our stay! After hopping off the ferry (Catalina Express), we walked to the hotel which was right along Avalon Harbor on the bustling Crescent Avenue. The location was great to get around and the city shuttle bus has a drop-off and pick-up location right next to the hotel. The hotel is known for its open garden and lounge area and firepit. The guest center offers complimentary hot breakfast in the mornings and a one-hour social of cheeses, wines and hot cider (for those who can't drink) beginning at 4:30PM. It sounded like the hotel was on the more expensive side for the island, but we felt it was worth every penny. We also enjoyed the board games (Scrabble, Monopoly, Clue) and salt water taffy candy you can find in the guest center. We reserved the Standard Room with two full-size beds. It was a bit of a squeeze for four adults and an infant, but all we needed (including a coffee/tea maker, flat screen TV and outside patio area). read more

Won a trip to Catalina and they booked the Pavilion Hotel for me! I was put in their Deluxe King room which was nice because it came with it's own cute semi-private patio. The room itself was very standard considering it costs $350/night, could definitely use some remodeling to make it more modern. I liked that you get a $20/night food and beverage credit to use at specific restaurants and there is a daily wine and cheese hour between 4-7PM. I ended up using my credits at Descanso Beach Club. Overall the hotel was nice, but kind of felt like they took a motel and added a bunch of tropical plants to make it fancier. It is a convenient spot to stay on the island though and the customer service was excellent! read more

I'm giving 2 stars because when I arrived they did pick me and my luggage up. I let them know I'm handicapped ahead of time. They had told me due to the Covid-19 breakfast would be brought to me instead of there usual wonderful buffet. Instead when I arrived and asked about breakfast they told me I get a voucher to a beach club that's a 20 minute walk or $10 cab fare I really don't like dragging oxygen around and the breakfast starts at 11 am. I have stayed here many times but they are not the same. It's not worth coming here - maybe next year. I asked the desk today and the man told me I would have to take a $13 cab to the ferry. I guess they don't take your bags for you when you leave anymore I'm so disappointed in the service. Although housekeeping was helpful. And I'm pretty sure you can't treat disabled people like this I used to always recommend this hotel - not anymore And I'll be looking at other places to stay. This ones over priced for what they offer. This is my post 2 years ago when Covid 19 started taking over. My new review gets 3 stars. The over night man is great Manny that's why I'll give 3 stars. The cheese plates are horrible. Don't bother. And they did give me a nice room but it doesn't have a pad of paper or pen. Maybe I couldn't figure how to get the water warm. But I love Catalina. I loved my stay here! Great location as well. This was a short 5-10 minute walk from the pier which was very convenient. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful the entire time. They recommended places around the island and gave us maps with directions to every tour or restaurant we wanted to go to. The room was very clean and cozy. Our stay came with a lot but here were my favorites: 2 free tours; the bottom glass tour(recommend it if you have kids) and the city tour (very informative about the island's history). We had access to free bikes for up to 2 hours at a time(can use them multiple times a day). Every evening, the hotel had wine and cheese which was delicious and so much fun to go to. But... my absolutely favorite thing there was the omelette bar in the mornings! Definitely suggest you check it out if you stay there. Did not meet expectations. The night before we were to arrive I got a text saying a bellman would greet us at the dock to help with our bags. No one showed up. I'm a senior and would have appreciated the help. We got to the hotel, the person who checked us in said she will notify housekeeping and our room would be ready shortly, 5 HOURS later our room was ready. If she said your room will be ready in a few hours we would have planned our day differently. The tv didn't work. I called the front desk and a young man came down to fix it, however, as soon as you turned it off it went back to no connection. Location: A+ for being centrally located to everything!! It was so convenient especially if we had forgotten an item in the room. Rooms: C+ overall. I was disappointed by the quality of our room. Our shower was huge so that was nice but it was also an ADA room. The room showed the wear and tear of its years of use. There was an odd stain on the carpet and room smelled slightly of urine. I could tell they tried to clean the place really well but it's hard to mask those kinds of odors. Aside from that, the place was spotless and I could tell cleaning staff worked really hard to make sure the place was especially clean during this pandemic. The beds were great! Staff: B- overall. Front staff were friendly and helpful for the most part. We requested some items that took multiple follow up conversations to receive so that was a slight I convenience. Outdoor areas: A+ for outdoor areas. The lounging areas near the front entrance and fire place came especially in handy for eating our takeout orders. The lounge chairs were also a nice addition to sprawl out on and take a nap/read a book. Overall: B- or C+ truthfully told, I was disappointed and feel the property didn't live up to its four stars. I've had better service and accommodations at a three star hotel. If I don't factor in location, I'm not sure I would be back at the property. read more

The reason this review is 1 star is due to this: during my stay at the hotel there was a family who stayed above us and it sounded like an endless stampede. It was not peaceful and a full night of sleep was not possible. 6am until 730am and then from 5pm until about 9. I called the front desk and they said they would speak to the family. After about another half hour and not being able to sleep I went to the front desk to voice my concerns in person. The workers and management team appeared inconvenienced did not offer a solution or a way to remedy the situation. If you stay here make sure you stay on the second floor or don't come at all. Honestly, out of the gate, I want to give this place 6 stars. Get off the ferry, make a right, walk a few yards and you've arrived! Danny greeted us, answered our multiple questions with a smile, and we were set. The room was/is awesome, comfy bed; then also had a wonderful porch, seating, and it all opens to a beautiful garden that also has divine lounge chairs and peaceful views of the harbor. Included in your incredible stay are an all you can eat - made to order omelette bar (plus everything else you can imagine for breakfast) and an amazing unlimited wine tasting/cheese event in the evening... offered every single day of the year! The hotel itself is literally located dead center to the beautiful Catalina harbor, so the view never disappoints. The beach is literally steps away. The staff has been amazing too. There is a turn down service as well. Additionally, did several tours and the front desk was a wealth of information. Overall, a five star experience and not nearly at the cost you'd expect. I can't say enough good things about this hotel! I made my reservation for one night on Expedia. It was about $316 with taxes and hotel fees. It was worth every penny. The location is great. It was about a 5 minute walk from the harbor where the ferry dropped us off. It was also less than a 5 minute walk from the pier where the ocean tours take off. The Descanso Beach Club is about 10 to 15 minutes away. There is also another beach across the street and restaurants and souvenir shops walking distance. They were able to hold our bags before we checked in and after we checked out. They also have a shower which you can use after check out. It came in handy after the beach. They have lots of towels and nice shady areas to chill. The wine hour was great they had bottomless wine and cheese. Nice view of the ocean while you relax. The breakfast was great! They had a omelette bar. All kinds of pastries and bagels with a toaster, fruit, yogurt, cereal, eggs, bacon, sausage, juice, coffee, cappuccino. The staff was very helpful and accommodating! Pavilion deserves 5 stars! Let me tell you why- We decided to visit Catalina Islands for our first wedding anniversary celebration. Our ferry was scheduled to reach early morning so we decided to check in the hotel even though our room would be ready by afternoon. The staff at Pavilion was so gracious and courteous to us. We loved how welcoming they were. Their hospitality made our stay 10x better. Having checked in our luggage, they even provided us details of all the complementary tours offered by the hotel with our stay. We did the bus tour of the Island (really interesting way to know the island) and the cyclone boat tour to Seal Point (this was super-fun). Back at the hotel, the rooms well equipped, very neat and clean. We enjoyed the complimentary wine and cheese tasting in the evening by the fireplace with the ocean view. So blissful! Breakfast in the morning is not your average breakfast- from build your own omelette(fancy), to muffins, pastry, cut fruits, sausages, yogurt(not the sugary one), fresh juices, barista brewed coffee, etc. Simply loved it. Though Pavilion is pricey, I say its so worth the experience! Will definitely come back and stay here anytime I revisit Catalina Island. read more

Great place, very convenient for everything. Pretty much in the center of town. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The bed was super comfortable but the down pillows sucked (no support). Would have been nice to have pillow options. The room was very clean and the A/C worked perfectly. The fire pit is the gathering place it seems. We met quite a few very nice people out there during the evenings, all with interesting stories. The grounds are well-kept and lush. Our room was 302 and it came with a $40/nt credit which we blew through spending the day at their sister property Descanso Beach Club. We rented chaise lounges and spent 2/3 of a day just lounging and drinking and eating, all in perfect weather. Would I recommend it to family and friends? Yes. read more

Last year for our 20th anniversary we stayed at this amazing hotel for four days and three pretty incredible nights! We initally had booked Hotel Atwater, which is beautiful too, but were disappointed with the size of the room, plus we wanted something that was a little more special. After walking around the town right after arrival we came upon the Pavilion Hotel. Remembering that this one as one of our choices we stopped in and asked if we could take a look around. WOW! Just loved how lush it was, the wine and cheese happy hour, the many seating areas, nice sized room etc. At the front desk I expressed my wish that we could haved stayed at the Pavilion instead and we were floored when Julie(a) said that they were sister hotels to Hotel Atwater and that, yes, we COULD switch! Yes, it cost us more, but it was worth it to us. I want to stress that the staff at this hotel was just SUPER accommodating and friendly and not only did they make the switch for us, but also surprised us with a bottle of champagne and chocolates in our room. Couldn't believe it. :)))) I was on cloud 9 the whole time we were there. Enjoyed the island, of course, but knowing that we could easily at any time, pop back in the room and freshen up or drop something off, was so nice. Plus the room was clean, the beds were comfortable, housekeeping was amazing (I already mentioned the desk staff were amazing!) and really there is nothing I would have changed about our stay. The front desk receptionist, Cassi, was so friendly, yet professional, and very accommodating and helpful. The grounds are just beautiful, and well maintained. So peaceful and tranquil. Loved the loungers placed all around for some great relaxing. The Happy Hour was so nice every night. Your choice of wines and a lovely little cheese plate. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting around the fire pit chatting with other guests in the evening. Each morning, we went to The Brewery for breakfast, brought it back to the hotel, and sat out at the front tables by the railing, enjoying the beautiful scenery. The rooms were very nice.
