One of the girls answering the phone was a little different in her etiquette when scheduling our visit (as I assume she has to hold boundaries all day long to hold appointments for visitors), but thankfully everyone seemed nice enough upon arrival. My cat, was a nervous little guy as usual, but enjoyed the cat tree while we were waiting for Dr Brar and his staff. They all seemed excited to get to know us and were great my cat. We were able to do a quick xray at the end of our 72 hour monitoring at home which was a relief. We will certainly come back w my other cat in time for her annual:)

We were always greeted with a warm smile at the front desk, and the technicians were consistently prompt in bringing us to an exam room and gathering all necessary information. It was clear that they truly cared about Pinky. Over the years, Pinky underwent orthopedic surgery performed by Dr. Eric Hoots, from which she recovered very well. She has also been treated by Dr. Emily Hoots, Dr. Driscoll, Dr. Huskie, and Dr. Pietrowicz. Each doctor took the time needed to ensure that Pinky stayed on the right path to wellness. I would gladly give Animal Care Clinic ten stars if I could. I have visited three other local veterinary practices, and none have shown the level of care, attention, and compassion that ACC consistently provides. We recently had a terrible experience with the Kitty Klinic in Lacey…read more When my 11 year old cat was coughing about 7 weeks ago, I took him in to be checked and due to negligence and/or incompetence and/or errors, he was seriously misdiagnosed with asthma and was given prednisolone which most likely worsened his underlying condition. When I called them after 3 weeks because his cough wasn't improving, they said it could just take some time and recommended that I increase the prednisolone. We took him to another vet and by then he was already in critical condition with full blown congestive heart failure. We had to choose within a week between subjecting him to ongoing ER visits and daily multiple medications or euthanasia. We knew he would not do well in the ER, so we made the agonizing decision to euthanize him. If I had known then what I have since learned, I would have realized that the diagnosis was incorrect. How can a vet see a significant weight loss and an enlarged heart on an x-ray and make the diagnosis of Asthma?? A cough, weight loss and an enlarged heart are all common symptoms of CHF. They did not suggest an echocardiogram or any other tests or follow up care. We will never know what the outcome would have been if the correct diagnosis had been made initially, but it really couldn't have been worse. Because I couldn't be in the room with him, they couldn't ask me questions about his behavior, eating habits, or anything else that could have assisted with a diagnosis. Cats hide pain very well. How could they possibly get all the information they needed from the cat? In retrospect it seems unconscionable to me that they will not allow any communication with the owner while they are examining our pets. The only communication you can have with the vet is when she calls you. I have to assume that they are hiding something and do not want us to see what is going on behind their closed door. If you need care for your cats, take them somewhere else.

Our 1st visit was about 2 years ago, I made new patient apts for our 2 pups to get the whole sha bang, we just moved to be area and they were very close to our home. The front desk staff was horrible. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Rude. Didn't acknowledge my presence when walking in at any of our apts. I had to literally walk up and say hello.. no greeting. No good morning. Just take a seat. Ok. Our first appointment the boys got there wellness checks, 2nd shots, they 1st visit stuff. No problem. We were told we should return in a few months to have them neutered, I advised we felt waiting till they were a year would be more appropriate for their development. Vets dismissed my feelings on that, said it was the standard time frame. Ok. The tech came back into give me the estimate for care, again she was SO nice. But she told me I had to pay the past due balance on the account. I said what balance? I paid the $40 deposit they required for scheduling a new patient visit. X2 since I have 2 pets. She said no it looks like it's from a previous visit. I was obviously confused because it was my first visit. I explained that to her and she went to go speak to the front desk about it. I get it, mistakes happen, but when I went to pay my actual balance witch was right about $560(estimate) the same front desk lady who I'm sorry just seems to really hate her job was all annoyed that I questioned the bill. I made sure to check that the "past due balance" was removed. Then she was rude that I didn't have my actual care credit card and just the info on my phone. She literally ripped the phone out of my hand. I thought maybe she's just having a bad day. And left it at that. A few month go by and I needed to take one of the boys in for a tummy ache, same front desk lady put me on hold for 10 plus minutes, hung up and I had to call back, no Oh I'm sorry or anything. I just needed to make a standard apt, I said anytime on Thursday or Friday. I wasn't being picky or rude. She says YA I KNOW. Ok The last apt we had was the worst, I had to bring in my boys at the same time, stressful for me. One of them almost choked himself a few minutes before our apt so I was really upset. He was fine got his head stuck in the gate of the kennel. Anyway I came in solo and checked in. Said I have both boys out in the car is there anyway I can have a tech help me bring them in. They were fine but there was a full house of big dogs in the waiting area, no place to sit or stand. And I didn't want to try and wrangle my anxious boy with my I love everything dog at the same time. I arrived early we had time. The front desk lady was so nasty. Same lady each time. "Well I'll have to ask" ok that's fine. I literally said if they can't it's not a problem would just be helpful. The very nice tech ended up coming to help me and there's wasn't any issue. Front desk can make or break a practice and after multiple times of just being met with rudeness and just the bare minimum we won't be coming back. Compassion goes a long way and I try to remember that, but you reach' a point when you say OK this person just is unpleasant.

All these Doctors treat your animal as if it was their own that is what we were looking for in an Animal hospital. The staff and Vet Tech are always so friendly and when you walk in the door, they greet your dog before you.

Finally, on my departure today, they hand me a tube of medicine that is $30 for a simple lesion. It's really irritating to know that I could've spent so much less on this every month had someone simply had the courtesy to inform me that I could get it for cheaper online. But no. I've been With Steamboat 27 years. it was a great clinic when Dr. Murphy owned it but since it's been sold, it's steadily gone downhill. I've had several problems with them but at the most recent problems. I got a new puppy and had all recent spay and vaccination records from the rescue organization. I called Steamboat to bring her in to establish a new pet And get flea meds. Although they couldn't get me in for 2-1/2 months they wouldn't sell me or give me a rx for flea meds. But what finally made me leave the clinic was when my 6 year-old dog became seriously I'll. They couldn't get me in for 3 weeks. So I took him to urgent care. Urgent care wanted me to follow up in 10-14 days with my regular vet. But Steamboat still couldn't get me in. We went back to urgent care and again they advised me he needed to be seen by my regular vet soon to have bloodwork and xrays. Steamboat could only get me in several weeks later for a drop-in visit. Staff was rude and failed to call me back. I'd drive to Seattle to get him seen asap but fortunately I found 3 other local vets who could get him in immediately. Steamboat is not a clinic I would ever take another pet too and wouldn't recommend them to anyone who cares about their pets.

The lead Vet assistant walked us through the entire process. Everyone including the Vet were compassionate. They allowed us to spend as much time with her as we needed to say our goodbyes.
