Great place to get your dog groomed and board when you go on vacation!!! When we first got our dog 9 years ago, we brought him here to get groomed as it was local. They always did a great job with him. We moved to Orange County a few years later and had been through a few groomers since because of the distance. He had a bad experience with one of the groomers and got to the point where he would not let anyone groom him fully and properly. Fast forward a few more years and we needed somewhere to board him for a reasonable price and Paws and Mittens was the best option. We have had him boarded several times and the staff did an amazing job with him each time. Most recently, we had him boarded for almost 2 weeks while we were on vacation and he came back to us with a better temperament (while he was always loving to myself, me wife and our Godchildren who visit frequently, he would be moody when encountering other people and dogs). Not only was he well taken care of while boarding, they were able to give him the full and proper grooming he had not been able to get for some time and he looks AMAZING! I can't thank this place enough as well as highly recommend them to anyone in need of grooming and boarding services for their dogs! Paws and Mittens is a little distance from where we live, but we will not make the mistake of taking our dog elsewhere again! read more

If I could put no stars, I would. My dog was boarded there just for a little over 2 days. When my mom went to pick her up, her front elbows were almost raw and she had bruises on her face. She was having trouble walking for a few days. She was taken to the vet to be checked out and they said that my dog, who is 60 pounds) was kept in a small crate the entire time she was there. We also provided them with medication to give her if there were a thunderstorm because she gets horrible anxiety. This boarding place decided to give her the medication because she "couldn't" deal with her barking. Her barking was most likely due to being in a small crate the entire time when she doesn't fit in it! Who does that. No animal should've been treated the way that they treated my dog. She is an absolute sweetheart and this place treated her poorly. read more

We made an appointment to groom our cat. They told us to bring him in at 8am. We went and they weren't even open at 8am and we had driven an hour to get there. We tried calling but obviously no one picked up since they were closed, and we ended up having to leave due to 1) not knowing if we would actually have an appointment even if we waited until opening and 2) having things to do later in the day. It was immensely frustrating that the woman on the phone not only didn't know the hours of the place she worked at but didn't call back to clarify what time the appointment actually was. We called about a week before the actual appointment day so she had plenty of time to correct her mistake. But after reading the reviews here about how they treat cats, I'm sure we dodged a bullet. read more

We brought our dog in for boarding on Friday, 6/4/21 - Sunday 6/6/21. She is given medication only when there's thunder or fireworks. We explained to Salma to give only if there was going to be any thunderstorms. We picked up our dog on Sunday and she was sedated and according to Salma, it was because she couldn't deal with our dog barking. After we got home, our poor baby had bruises on both her elbows on front legs and looked like bite marks on her face. This is not ok. Will never return to this location and will deter anyone from bringing their beloved pets to this place. read more

Title: Terrible Experience at Paws and Mittens Boarding not a real boarding facility. I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience with Paws and Mittens fake Boarding facility that I feel compelled to share. My dog's stay at this facility was nothing short of a nightmare. It was clear that the Salma Gonzalez Carrillo, had shown a complete lack of consideration for his well-being. She was mean and nasty to me on the phone. She even told me I don't like your dog . She needs to be out of business of boarding animals. What was even more distressing was the fact that my dog hadn't been provided with enough water during his stay. Hydration is absolutely crucial, especially in unfamiliar environments. The negligence in ensuring his basic needs were met is truly inexcusable. The entire experience has left me deeply disappointed and concerned for the welfare of the animals entrusted to Paws and Mittens. I entrusted them with the care of my beloved pet, and they failed miserably. It's evident that this women lacks the professionalism and empathy necessary for proper animal care. I strongly advise anyone considering Paws and Mittens Boarding to think twice. The well-being of your furry family member deserves better than what this facility has to offer. I will certainly never be returning, and I hope my review helps other pet owners avoid a similar heartbreaking experience. She is hiding behind the name paws and mittens businesses .where your dog/cat stays is in a residential not a business she a lied to me i trusted them because my dog been grooming, @ Paw and mittens since he was a puppy. He was the best many of the clients go there still because of him however, they don't have the heart for your fur babies like he and his sons had . Great job on bathing my 40lbs pup. My only and biggest issue is they don't really brush your animal without you having to tell them too. I shouldn't have to tell a grooming place to brush my dog! If I didn't stay to see how his 1st visit went she would've handed him right back to me after a mere 30sec brush. I could've done this myself honestly. Wasn't worth the $50. read more

We brought our almost four month old toy poodle for his first little boy grooming. They suggested that we start off with a puppy trim so Brody would get used to the experience and clippers. I loved this about them, as this is less than half the cost of a fully puppy cut. They were more concerned with his experience being positive rather than the extra $$. We walked in and there was a delightful dog walking around. Another pup waiting to be groomed. Our biggest fear for Brody is that he would be crated and this is not their policy. When we picked up Brody an hour later he was his usual bubbly happy self. He loved the girls and the other pup walking around with him. Thank you so much for taking care of our boy. The groomer told me that my dog was not nice. She was flustered and was upset when I cam e in to pick up by puppy. She said that once he was finished he pooped on himself and she had rewash him. Overall, an experienced groomer would be able to communicate challenges better to dog owners, as well as deal with a small puppy for grooming. He is only 7 months old. Its a definite NO for me to return, but give them a try for yourself if you wish. I do love the Barkery store next door though! read more

Left my boys feet dirty and soaking wet. And his nail was bleeding. Dog hair was flying all over the shop. Not very clean. LOVE this place! Again, we support local businesses. My WGSD is a sweetie, but doesn't do well while alone with strangers, until he gets familiar and comfortable. I've attempted to give my business to 2 others local pet groomers. The first (I went on recommendation) kept my dog crated for 1 1/2 hours (I entered after their last client left) until they decided that they were going to groom him, only to get a phone call telling me that I have to get him because he's vicious??? Scared, maybe, but I don't think he was vicious the way she described it. I offered to stay with him during grooming so he can feel safe and comfortable, but she refused any services and told me that I had to remove him from their premises. The other groomer - which I'll yelp her soon as well. Doesn't crate pets, so she was very unorganized about her scheduling due to her avoiding other pets from being around each other. An appointment was scheduled, she left a message and rescheduled my appointment to accommodate another client. When I called and left a message letting her know that I couldn't make the day and time SHE wanted me to show up and gave her 2 contact #'s to reach me to figure out another time...she NEVER returned my phone call. 2 BAD EXPERIENCES! I DID NOT experience anything negative about Paws and Mittens! Staff was AWESOME! Super friendly! They handled my nervous dog VERY well. He eventually calmed down a little. I'm glad that the first visit they let me go to the back with them just to help keep my dog calm. I love that as soon as they're done grooming any pet, right away they start vacuuming and cleaning, keeping their facility clean and presentable, unlike the first groomer I went to. There is comfortable seating as well, while you wait. For the huge dog that I have, I found the prices to be reasonable. I was very much impressed that now, we're returning customers. They've gained our business! HEADS UP: 1) if you call and no one answers, leave a message, the owner will get back to you quick. She usually screens her calls or is busy grooming. 2) Pets are crated here, so if you're uncomfortable with that, let them know. 3) A copy of your pets rabies vaccination is suggested, but not required. Ask just to make sure that this rule wasn't updated and became mandatory. 4) Plastic is accepted here. You can tip on your plastic as well. read more

I brought my 7 month old, rambunctious bulldog puppy,cheryl, here for her first bath and the staff here was friendly and accommodating. I dropped of my girl and walked around the shops on main street while they took care of her. About a half hour later they called me and said she was ready to be picked up. We are "weekend Beacon-ites" and have been with the same groomer down in Brooklyn for several years. That groomer has moved away so we needed a new one. At first, the person I spoke to at Paws & Mittens gave me a stern talking to about the condition my boy was in (and she was right) so I was a little defensive and skeptical. The skepticism disappeared when I picked him up. He was groomed with painstaking perfection; better than I've ever seen him groomed elsewhere. He is a standard poodle so you can imagine, this is no small job, especially since he was a MESS when I dropped him off. Most importantly, he wasn't anxious or sheepish when I picked him up...completely calm and happy. This will be our new groomer going forward. read more

Other than they didn't seem to care what my dog's name was, I was very pleased with the services. She was well cut and beautiful and seemed happy - especially since they don't put the dogs in crates! My little Maltese Max loves Maria and the way he is treated. He seems very happy to see her and while peeking in when no one was looking I saw her talking to him and petting him softly while she was trimming his face. When I picked him up he was so clean, soft and wonderfully trimmed that he looked like a new dog! The price was less then a big box pet store but so much more then expected. I'm very supportive of small and local businesses and I hate to leave a negative review but my experience today was so poor. Before coming here I contacted the shop and asked many questions about their grooming procedures for both cats and dogs as I have both. I informed them that I would like to get my cat shaved and that he would not be happy about it. He is shaved every year right before summer time rolls around. And he gets furious each time but with patience we get through it. I asked them how they would handle it and if they were okay with it. They reassured me that they could handle it. After arriving to the shop I just got this very uneasy feeling. I felt that they were not compassionate and they did not treat my pet as I treat him, like he is part of the family. They kept referring to him as "it" and "cat" rather than his name. I told them once he gets angry let him go into his cage to feel safe and also give him treats (which I provided). I also told them that I thought it would be a good idea to use the cat muzzle before even starting. They never did that though. Instead after leaving him there for about 25 minutes they called me and said that "it" was very unfriendly, very bad, screaming at them and they don't want to get bite by "it". They asked me to come and help them shave the cat. I was soooo shocked. I told them to forget it and I'd pick him up. They said they have already shaved most of him. I was even more shocked. I made it very clear to please take time with him because he will get angry if you don't give him a break. So I said that I would be back to the shop in 20 minutes to help and please give him a break until I'm back. When I got there 15 min later they were already shaving him again. And they were aggressively ripping hair from his face. I literally started crying my eyes out when I got home because I felt so horrible for having my baby go through that. This isn't his first shave. Yes he gets mad but I've never had a groomer treat him this way. And for his first few shaves in his life I was present the entire time. I saw that they took their time. Took three hours if they had to.... I'm sorry but I dont recommend this place. A dog is easy to groom but they treated my animal like an object before they even saw his reaction to the shaving process. Not only that but this place was not clean. The owner (groomer) was not friendly and was harsh with me on the phone. If you love your animal and want your animal treated with love at a time he is stressed do not go here. read more

Wonderful, caring people here! Highly recommend Paws and Mittens Pet Spa. Bill & I discovered that our cat Duffy had a tummy full of very tight mats - although I brush him regularly and cut small mats off of him, he never let us see or touch his tummy before - We were so upset when we felt them, knowing they had to be pulling on his skin and not knowing how long our poor baby has had them and been in pain. I called Paws and Mittens at 4:45pm on Friday afternoon and explained the situation. They told us to bring him in immediately. We arrived and they freed up a grooming table for him as soon as we walked in the door and started shaving those big mats off of Duffy, so gently. Duffy melted into Bill as he felt the relief. I wish I had gotten a photo of him on his back, legs spread melted against Bill as this Angel carefully shaved all of those nasty mats off. We were back home in 15 minutes! Duffy is a very happy kitty :) Bonus - really reasonable price! read more
