Holy Hell At first this sounded like a great place with a solid mission statement and amazing prices for vet care even if it was 30-40 minutes away (from NW burbs) in Naperville, IL... so it was a little concerning that their reviews on Yelp and Google were inconsistent AND majorly NOT positive. Backstory: been looking for a neuter for a newly rescued cat directly from the streets, not thru an organization, and this requires a lot of vet and setup work (vaccination neuter etc). These guys sold me on the services and affordable fees so well I was set to go get my new cat all done here and bring my other too as well UNTIL the cheap pettiness reveal happened... and I experienced an epiphany on who they actually are...and why these poor reviews exist. Services seem okay, but they didn't do the exam in front of me so I cant really attest to that. The checkup summary recap and findings seemed adequate. I have a regular vet. I came here because of the neuter and I was contemplating moving vet services over for the whole set because I had some positive initial calls and chats. It's a long drive 30m more than the 10m it normally takes me and this is and was not appreciated... feline complaint meows became l yowling wrestling and tearing at the carrier behavior at the end of this trip. So imagine the level of annoyance one has after arriving by 8am, waiting 30m to get a simple checkup and blood draw waiting another 30m to get your pet's back... then being denied the advertised discount on this checkup (paltry $25) because: 1. I didn't have it printed out on paper 2. they don't have access to a printer 3. It cant be printed at the UPS store now bc it needed to be presented at checkin... because the invoice isn't be rerun (really JFC) talk about the most ridiculous interaction with a low budget vibe of BS from the not-so-gifted... omg seriously? So not to be a Karen but hell... I wanted to talk to the clinic Manager. The staff run by this unpleasant JACKIE NAMELESS ("no I don't have a business card") didnt care about the marketing chat and promises or all the hassle getting up at 6am for this deal to make a red tape exception... AND final straw ... because I complained about this promo coupon situation she said they would not let me get my neuter here. They whole reason I even did any of this... yeah I walked out without anything but utter contempt for this trash admin operation that wasted 3 hours of my time and gave me a stressed out boy who tore open the carrier by the time I got home. GFTO and away. This is a good indicator and illustration of WHY this place had to move and change their DBA name for a reason... what a joke of a place and this level of services shows how you get what you pay for... and the prior negative reviews are legit. Affordable, compassionate care with a positive experience I've taken both of my dogs to Paws With the Cause Vet Care several times over the years for vaccination clinics, and I'm always grateful to have an affordable option for routine care. Recently, I decided to bring my youngest corgi here to be spayed. I'll admit--I was nervous going in after reading some of the less favorable reviews--but I'm happy to say my experience was entirely positive from start to finish. Check-in was smooth and efficient. I arrived early, carried her in as soon as the doors opened, and we were checked in quickly. I was told I'd receive a call or text later in the day when she was ready for pickup. Pickup itself was a little hectic and took longer than I had hoped, but once I had my girl back, everything else went wonderfully. She recovered beautifully from the procedure, and they sent her home with medication to help manage pain and keep her calm during those first few recovery days. We got our cat neutered and chipped here after checking a few other options, which were either very costly or hard to get ahold of. Spay Illinois was efficient, effective and our furry friend looked totally calm yet alert after his procedure. I was able to get an appointment within 2 weeks. They were quick to reach out after i left a message and their instructions were very detailed which I appreciated. I opted for all the extras, including the IV/fluids, take home pain meds, gabapentin etc. Our cat surprisingly didn't even need the gabapentin (though he got the nsaid for pain) but i was glad to have it in case. They seem to run a tight ship. Cat (or dog) is dropped off in AM and immediately taken back to a room where they start their intake; I wasn't able to go back with him or speak directly with the vet but I was ok with it as I felt at ease with the place. I was able to pay digitally ahead of time. The next contact was in the early afternoon to tell me I could pick him up early if we wanted (which of course, I did). They do a group discharge where all of us got instructions at the same time, then the vet techs brought out each pet one by one. Our cat recovered quickly and was surprisingly compliant with the cone (though i ended up using my own soft one I had purchased on amazon). I was able to have him get his frcp booster that was also due while he was under anesthesia, which was a convenience that was much appreciated. Overall i liked this experience. It wasn't as personal as if i took him to our usual vet, but I felt for this purpose of the neuter surgery, they were well equipped to take care of my precious cat and I was happy with the outcome. read more

Have brought several cats in for feral cat package. This last time a raccoon broke our big trap and I didn't have time to get a bigger trap and the kitten was 3.5 lbs so brought her in littler trap and they wouldn't take her for feral-"first because they said it was too small for her to recover in" and so I said I could get go to Walmart and buy a new trap in 20 minutes and be back. They told me no but that I could pay more for her to be spayed as house cat. I was willing to do that even and then they are like well she can't be in the trap so you are gonna have to take her home. I live almost 3 hours away and chose to come here because I had such a great Experience the first time. I begged them to let me leave her as I drove all this way to have the girls fixed. Finally a girl from the back gave me a box and said I could take cat off property and put her in but not on property--so I did this. I appreciate the work they do and I understood the directions but when trying to trap her the trap became damaged by a raccoon and so it just was a fluke I didn't have bigger cage as wire was poking up out of it. But either way got the job done-but the lady who checked me out was rude and told me to be quiet which I had been standing to the side waiting to check out so I asked her if I could and she told me to hush. I was never rude to the staff if I had to take them home I would of and I did not appreciate her being extremely rude, I just had traveled this far and I was trying to keep them from continuing to reproduce and add to the problems of cats reproducing but I won't bring my cats back as I was so disappointed in several staff as they were rolling their eyes at the desk when I told them I would go buy another trap or remedy this situation immediately rather than make me drive home with nothing accomplished. I was just trying to help the overpopulation issues and this was unnecessary. Do NOT take your pet here. I really wanted to like this place, and I thought I would. Heads up... You will probably see a nasty, unprofessional reply from them on this review written in a highly defensive manner attempting to turn the tables and push blame on their customers like they did my Google review. They don't like when you talk about them in a negative way. I've had to block certain individuals per my lawyer/friend advice since they try to provoke you through accusations, assumptions, insults, and verbal threats. I'm worried about the retaliation on Yelp, but I need to make sure people know what to expect there. Here's the deal: The price online does not reflect the price at the clinic. You have to pay extra to get your dog sedated, if you want a cone and if you want your dog to have an IV and fluids during surgery. Everything is extra and is normally included with any other vet. My puppy has been moaning all night and I feel so bad for her being in pain like this because of them. They don't honor the link card or military or 65+ discounts that they promote like crazy. They gave me an incredibly difficult time with this and I had to go above their staff and message the CEO. I had a determination letter, the app they require to see, my ID and card. I've been awaiting a surgery for myself and not working so I can't afford all those extras this month with the holidays and all. After a conversation with a so called manager, in which I was, and always am, calm and respectful, I was told that I was yelling at them. Trust me when I say I was trying to be as discreet as possible when discussing my government assistance with them in a very packed waiting area. Last thing I wanted was for everyone to know my business. And now everyone knows my business. After I picked my puppy up and listened to the guy yell and give a vague overview to all the people in the lobby about the after care, I had a ton of questions but you are pushed out so quickly no one will answer them. So I was sitting inside my vehicle about 15' from the door with my dog inside and she was very loopy from surgery. I didn't want to leave her in the car and didn't want to carry her back to ask a question. So when the worker opened the front door to the building to hold it open for someone, I said excuse me I have a question. She gave me a dirty look and I inquired about the medications. I wasn't yelling but I had to project my voice so she could hear me and it wasn't even that loud. I just started antibiotics for a throat infection and can barely talk, let alone yell. They post on social media bragging about how many spays and neuters are done each day then lie to your face saying it's not true and that they do it for the for the animals not the money. I had questioned what they did with the millions they make each year. Their CEO takes an $80k salary annually btw. They were so upset with my questioning they tried to tell me that I had to pick up my dog and they wouldn't do her spay since I questioned the cost of it. I told them she needed to be spayed and I had a deposit down already that I knew I would not get back. Plus my landlord requires it and she was getting overdue for the surgery. I'm also awaiting another surgery for myself and I won't be able to care for a puppy post op if I'm recovering myself. In the end, they ended up giving me a partial discount for the government assist thing and I still ended up paying more than what is quoted online. It's not worth the fight with them, they are like children. I don't understand how these people are in business. They don't care about individuals they care about a quota. They have to get 60 plus in for spay or neuter daily. They only care about the money. I hate to leave a bad review but people have to know what's going on there. I even had to block people on social media from verbal abuse and fear of retaliation. I am honestly worried about my own safety with how they have been reacting. You can probably expect to see a class action in the mail if you've had your pets here in the past, considering how many issues arise from their establishment. Not only are their prices not communicated well - the advertised price is not what you will pay. They have no explanation of the additional options available and when you ask questions, they get upset. I was told I'd receive a call when my dog was out of surgery so that I knew how he did and that he was done. Never received a call, when I called them they said "oh we sent your invoice" - was that supposed to mean my dog did okay?? The invoice was sent at 9:45am and pick up time was 3pm. On top of it, they charged my card for more than the invoice price. I had a way better experience when it was Spay Illinois. read more

I took one of my daughter's cats there when it was known as Spay Illinois in Lisle in some shopping center. I would NEVER recommend anyone go to that location and I see that Paws for a Cause Vet Care has now bought out (?) the old Spay Illinois business and moved to Naperville. If any of the people from the old place work there, I would NOT advise anyone to patron this business. I took my cat in for a rabies shot and also to be neutered. Drop off was early in the morning and we were all ushered into this room with no clear lines and a few folks at "podium" desks at the front. Talk about unprofessional. On the website, they mentioned the price was X. When you walked up to the desk, they had some weird "package" pricing in Bronze, Silver and Gold, none of which were the same as what was listed on the website. Here's the thing. I had to quickly choose the cheapest package because I didn't have the money to pay for the other packages (literally 3-4 times plus the amount on the website). One of ladies slammed a stand in front of me, pointed with her pen to the packages and stared off into space until I hurriedly had to decide which one. I seriously thought about leaving and forego the $50 deposit I paid but my daughter wanted it done as we had already pushed it off enough. I left my daughter's cat there in hopes he'd be okay. We were all told that pick up would be at a certain time that evening. That evening, I go and pick up my daughter's cat and three staff are all talking in that front room completely ignoring me. Three of them were chatting it up with some customer. Finally, a young lady comes out from the backroom through the doors and asks me for my cat's name and brings him out. That's when they decide to tell me that the price is even higher than the package I paid for (it's now $180) because they saw he had a hernia and "went on ahead and took care of it for you." WHAT? No one called me to get my permission to do additional surgery on my cat? How can you perform extra surgery on anyone's pet without first getting permission to make sure it's okay, talk about pros and cons and costs? So, I see other folks receiving medication for their cats in a zip lock bag and I inquired. They told me my cat didn't get medication because it I got the cheaper package. My mouth dropped wide open as the three workers and customer they were talking to (a man) all looked at me and smirked. They didn't bother telling me that the cheap package did not include ANY medication, IV fluids, etc. Are you serious? I asked how much and of course, the medication was extremely expensive and THEN the lady who came out tells me that if you don't get all of the rest of these medications, to please at least get this one to help him feel and heal better for the next couple of days. WHAT IN THE ACTUAL.... WORLD??? Obviously, we didn't bother to bring our other cat in (a girl) to get her spayed because of this horrendous experience. I didn't bother to report this last year because I was so worried for a while after my daughter's cat had surgery that he would have complications and I'd have to take him back to this same place and I didn't want my HONEST, albeit negative review to make them angry and have them take it out on my cat. I received an email from them within the last 30 days, reminding me about rabies shots and saw they are now under new management and are still "low-cost" but are now in Naperville. However, I would NEVER, EVER suggest anyone take their pets to them, even if they are under new management, IF they still employ the people from Spay Illinois. Our kitten that we fostered and after utilizing this organization adopted a day later developed after a week an Upper respiratory infection. He is solely an indoor cat so i find it hard to believe that he would have developed this virus at our house. Our vet told us he probably got it from this place. On a referral I booked three of our nearly 6 mos. old kittens to be spayed. I was impressed but the degree of instructions to follow and observed the suggestion we , "hold off" on spaying the mama cat since she was still nursing and her 2 remaining kitties could tear her stitches. We also could and did get a package procedure, i.e. nail trim, green line I.D. so they can't be spayed again, I.V. and other services which we could opt into. Very affordable and even after renting a car to travel there saved substantially plus they had a shorter "wait time" since the onslaught of pregnancies in cats clogged up many local clinics here in the city. read more

My 7 year old Havanese dog(19 pounds), Oliver, was desperately in need of dental care. After a search for low cost services and reading pretty good reviews for Spay Illinois, I brought my dog in for the evaluation and required blood work which total $128. I was quoted dental cleaning with expected extractions was between level 2 & 3 which would cost between $500 - $800. I was not able to book that day due to lack of funding for that amount. I was told I could schedule when I was ready. Well, 3 months later, I was ready to schedule but was told that I would first need to return for another evaluation and blood work as it had been longer than the required 2 months (which I was never told of a timeline). Thus, we repeated the evaluation for another $128 so we can get the dental work completed. After the evaluation, we were told Oliver's dental cleaning and extractions would now be a level 3 & 4 that would cost $1100 - $1200! Double the original evaluation because according to them... his dental condition had worsen and they have since implemented a price increase. They were not able to tell me what exactly had changed in 3 months that would warrant double the original evaluation quote. I was not present during the visit thus I requested the vet call me to explain the difference in his dental condition in light of the very short turnaround. He refused noting it was his final finding having a receptionist call to tell me that. Due to her obvious limited medical knowledge and frustration of trying to explain the doctor's final response, I requested someone call me that had more insight of Oliver's situation so that I could understand. So they had the office manager, with even more limited medical knowledge call me to say the price was the price and I can take it or leave it; she didn't care either way. Additionally, she was very offended that I had the nerve to question the level and price change that occurred and they did not need to explain anything to me. She also promptly told me that their office would not be a good fit for Oliver so I could take my business elsewhere instead of explaining the difference in evaluations. I agreed with her... if this if how they handle questions and inquiries, I could expect even worse if service is actually completed there. I believe BAD service starts at the top of the tree and trickles all the way down to the animal. I am so glad they were rude, uncaring and unprofessional as it allowed me to close that door and open another one to a host of blessings! FOR ALL WHO IS SEEKING EXCELLENCE CARE FOR AN AFFORDABLE COST - YOU HAVE OPTIONS. My dog completed his dental cleaning with 11 (yes, 11) extractions at FOX VALLEY ANIMAL WELFARE LEAGUE in North Aurora for $404.00 that included labs, anesthesia, 14 days of antibiotic and pain medication performed by a licensed vet doctor. OH WAIT, the price also included 2 vaccines (distemper and bordetella). EXCELLENT care was provided for my dog and for me as a nervous dog parent. FYI - they provide a full line of wellness interventions including all vaccines ($20), spay/neuter, and a host of other things. Check out their website. They have a 4.8/5.0 ratings. Very nice and clean facilities. of note, I luck up and got a cancellation spot; typical wait for dental cleanings, I am told, can be a few weeks or months out. I have had really positive experiences here. I breed sphynx cats and follow an ethical breeder protocol that requires all of our kittens to be spayed / neutered before they go to their forever homes. Unfortunately, almost all vets in this area will not adopt Early Spay and Neuter protocols despite much research showing that this is safe and less risky than waiting for sexual maturity for spay/ neuter in cats. (Dogs are a different story) I was recommended to come here because of their early spay and neuter program. I found myself using spay Illinois because they align themselves ethically with early spay and neuter and give me the ability to provide safe early spay and neuter on my kittens before they leave the cattery. However, recently they have changed their policy to not allow any purebred cats to be neutered in their facilities. They claim its because of adverse reactions to anesthesia. However, the risk of adverse side effects from anesthesia are significantly lower in young kittens than older cats. I have never had a kitten leave that had a hard time recovering. Usually by the end of the day they are back at their playful ways. The risks of allowing a cat to stay intact are significantly higher than the risks of anesthesia. Pyometra, overbreeding, backyard breeding, unwanted pregnancy, escaping, etc.. are much more risky In my opinion than minimal risk associated with anesthesia. My cats have been health tested and heart scanned well before they were bred. I will have to drive almost 3 hours away to find a vet that will do ESN. I still support their program because I do think it's an important one. But they should consider how this decision really hurts a lot of pet owners. Especially ones who are trying to preserve and improve breeds in an ethical healthy manner. I never came here because it was cheaper. I came because they were one of the only resources available for early spay and neuter. read more

They have an amazing mission so I feel bad leaving this review, however, communication is poor and leads to heartbreak and others need to be warned so that it does not happen to them. My parents brought their outdoor cat they have been taking care of for years to be spayed. This shelter discovered that she was actually chipped, therefore per their policy, they had to inform the shelter to which the chip belonged, which is understandable of course. It's their policy, however, they then said they would be able to give the cat to my parents if the shelter allowed it, but then gave the cat to the shelter the following day without warning (after telling my parents she could be picked up on this day). They claimed the accepting shelter called my parents (they did not) to arrange an adoption. When we asked for the contact information the representatives at Spay Illinois would not provide it as it is their policy to provide third party contact information. I called and told them the accepting shelter did not call my parents and to inquire given this situation could they at least give their number and address. Spay Illinois did provide the name of the shelter, however, the shelter's website was not a valid website and the phone number we were able to find did not work. We also could not find an address. Needless to say, we are all quite distressed by this situation, and wish someone could help my parents get their cat back as her fur siblings at home are waiting for her at home and miss her, as so my parents, or course. Overall, it is a terrible situation. I wish this didn't happen to my parents, as they are heartbroken as they feel like their fur baby was taken away from them for just trying to do the right thing (spaying the cat and checkup), therefore I posted this review so that others don't have to go through this situation. read more

I took my female cat here to get spayed for $65. The cost includes post-surgery medication. You have to call to make an appointment and the drop off time is between 7a-8a and the pickup time is about 400p-430p. My cat was still asleep, so I had to go later around 530p for the pickup. They also offer vaccines, which is $18 for 1 year. It is required that your pet is current on the vaccine before having the procedure. Vaccine can be given on the same day as the surgery. I made an appointment with their surgery clinic, not the pet well clinic, so this review is for the surgery unit. My 7.5 puppy was neutered here, and the experience with the clinic was overall very positive. It was easy to schedule an appointment and communication and expectations were clear. They patiently and kindly answered all of my nervous questions both before, and post surgery. My puppy has been healing well and the only thing that I would ask differently would have been to skip the green tattoo (not sure if that's an option). I'm sure it itches him as it heals so would have asked if it were necessary and would have opted to not have it. Their prices are very reasonable compared to many Chicago vets. The whole process was excellent. I called to inquire and got information scheduled an appointment for my kitten to be spayed. I got the necessary documentation from my current vet, who wasn't performing spay surgeries because of covid. Check in process was simple and efficient in the morning. I received a call around 11:30 letting me know that my kitten was good, surgery went well and that I could pick her up later the afternoon. I texted when I arrived to the building and they told me what time to be at the door to pick her up and they were ready with my kitten and had discharged papers and information for me ready to go. Right when we entered the staff was very welcoming. The facility was clean and the environment was very positive and welcoming. After greeting us, a vet technician came up to us and took all of our information, leashed her up and took her to the back while I filled out paperwork. Drop-off was at 7am and pick up was at 3pm for dogs. At pick-up, payment was taken care of and the staff very thoroughly went over take home instructions. Then the pets were taken out in a very fast manner. I highly recommend this clinic. It is not only affordable but they offer quality care. I personally have worked and shadowed in many veterinary hospitals and the service offered at this clinic is stellar. The staff are very knowledgeable, hardworking and clearly love what they do. My dog was spayed and she has no bruises from the iv/ catheter (the iv/catheter is something you can choose to pay extra for), she has a small expected amount of bruising on her belly, minimal blood and amazing stitch work. During my initial consultation, I was informed that this clinic does not perform dental procedures on brachiocephalic dogs (pugs, Shih Tzus, Pekingeses, etc) because their anesthesia protocol/equipment/team does not meet the required (state-mandated) standards. This, to me is scary and honestly, a huge red flag. If I am going to be paying at least $300 for a dental procedure (this is the absolute minimum cost - basic cleaning only) then it better be with an surgical/anesthesiology team that is appropriately qualified in all aspects. It's better to be safe than sorry - I would rather spend an extra $100 elsewhere if it ensures anesthetic safety and proper surgical care for my baby. read more

Really nice staff, however I did not like the pick up process. there was a couple of us there first. tell me why we were the last to be given our dogs. I was analyzing and where they go wrong is when we pay the payment goes to the bottom of the basket. Which means the last person there was the first person to leave with their dog. Unacceptable. Should go in order of arrival. Thank god I don't have to return but atleast I am giving you all a heads up about their pick up process. Again nice staff! read more

I called and got an appointment in three days! The day of appointment was a super easy process and the staff was super helpful and told me to pick her up around 3:30. I got a text around 12:30 to pick up my cat. It was super affordable and costed me 150$ for the total spay with vaccinations. read more
