3 stars because I don't have a ton of experience here. Just my view from my 2 days. Very friendly staff. Lots of big dogs coming and going. They don't allow a tour of their facility. Service enrollment, shot verifications and required auto payments are on completed online. Just proving my limited experience/information only. No shade. I was denied service for my 20 lbs dog 4-hrs into a 6-hr evaluation due to his behavioral issues when in new environments. He takes a couple of days to learn a new routine and warm up to multiple people at one time as he's done in previous facilities in other states. They are a fast paced facility & constantly move dogs between 3 different areas (indoor & outdoor and then into individual rooms for breaks during the day). Seemed like a great place from the surface. Closed door environment to pet owners was just a tad bit concerning especially when their aren't any play area cameras for customers to view. read more

My mini golden doodle can't wait to Get to Paws and Rec. She loves all Of her friends, both canine and human. There is a wonderful group of young people that care for and play with her pack. She is in the blue pack, similar size dogs. She won the adventurer of the mo nth this month. The hours are great. This was the first time we ever used a boarding facility for our pups. We were very nervous being that we moved here from LI NY a few months ago and our pups have never really been around any other pups. They explained how everything works and eased our fears of our pups being around other dogs, they even provided a report card on their orientation. From the first orientation to the overnight stay, very professional and caring staff. Our pups had a good time. My only complaint I need more pics of my pups on facebook, lol. I cannot say enough about Paws and Rec so Tampa! My little girl has pancreatitis but needed her feet trimmed so as not to slide on the wood floors during her illness. Courtney sat on the floor with her and was so gentle, the Vet Tech talked to me about her condition. Everyone was so caring and loving, courtney, the best groomer ever, made her a bow with her name and wanted to hear about her progress even when she lost the time for a full grooming. They all really care about the dogs and people, which was evident as I watch several people drop off their pets! Best place ever read more

Almost 2-month update: The groomer called and profusely apologized - I understand it was an earnest mistake. But it doesn't undo the fact that my pup's hair continues to grow patchy. If this was simply a matter of a bad trim, I'd be understanding. But clipping/shaving down a pomeranian puts them at serious health risks including trouble with temperature regulation, risk of sunburn, dermatitis, etc. I tried to communicate as clearly as possible to not use a shaver (with e-mail, phone call, and attaching pictures detailing this) and it, unfortunately, didn't work out. I feel like I did wrong by my puppy now. I would advise all owners of long-haired breeds to please carefully consider who grooms your dog - one shave will result in months to years of problems. Again, no troubles at all with the actual daycare which has always been top notch. read more

DO NOT GET YOUR DOG GROOMED HERE! I brought my golden doodle here to get groomed and I am absolutely mortified! He has razor burn all over. A giant chunk of hair taken out from behind his ear also. This is the second time we've been here. The first time we learned we need to be more detailed about what we want. So his dad told them only a little trim and a bath. THEY SHAVED HIS ENTIRE BODY. He was finally grown back from the last grooming and he looked so handsome. Just needed a small trim and a bath. Now he looks sad. You can see the difference between the photos. South Tampa Puppy Palace is the best place. Mr. Smiles loves going there to play and to stay. Grooming is good too. The staff are all very friendly and caring. There's an all around good energy with the people and you can tell they love animals. I don't worry about anything when he's there. The rates are very fair and the facility is clean. The fact that the front desk attendant was dismissive and unfriendly should have clued me in, but I was hopeful she was just having a bad day when I dropped off Mr Sir. When I picked him up however the same woman was working and had the same surly attitude. I had asked for a bath before he left, however when he came out he was practically dripping in water. For the next hour or two my poor guy was absolutely crazy. I realize he was happy to see me but I have boarded at other facilities before and never has he had this kind of reaction when I have picked him up. He seemed almost starved for attention despite me asking for additional daily play times. Not going to go back ever again! Read the reviews...they are spot on. Claudia was amazing for grooming. I have a goldendoodle who is very timid and ClaudIa took a moment for him to get comfortable with her then started to ask me exactly what I wanted and didn't want. As those with goldendoodles know, a lot of groomers will just shave them so they don't have to deal with their curls.. my pup was grown out and this is the best I have ever seen him look after grooming! She listened to exactly what I wanted and even asked if she did okay and if there was anything she could do better. My pup left with a customized bow and a wagging tail! 10/10 recommend read more

We brought our 2 wiener dogs here for 7 days and was a really great experience. We got them the suite so they could stay together and it was more quite than the other areas. It had a TV (you could even request to change the channel), a monitor so we could view them anytime, and you could bring your own things like beds, toys, etc. (There's even an in-ground pool). I called one day and requested an additional blanket, and they brought one to them right away! Normally, I have a lot of anxiety boarding my dogs but this was well worth it. The staff is knowledgeable and there's a vet always on staff. This is my forever spot for them! Thank you! read more

I really did not want to write a negative review of this facility, but due to recent events, I think other pet owners should be aware. In September 2022, this facility called me to let me know that my dog's leg had been broken in their care. He was rushed to an animal hospital, and they stated they would pay for the bills associated with it, great. They were trying to have me be "reimbursed" for the fees, but because of the situation, I felt it was their obligation to ensure that my dog's expenses were directly paid for. I was never personally contacted by the owner, and actually had to reach out to him a month post incident to determine what went wrong to have such an injury happen to my dog. I asked for video footage of the incident; of course there wasn't any available to view. Monica, who was the staff member communicating with me and taking my puppy to his appointments was fantastic; I feel bad, as if I feel like she was put in a position to be a scapegoat. I was offered 5 days of daycare free of charge as a result of this phone call for both of my dogs- meanwhile, while they were paying for my dog's treatment, I was still paying $400+ in fees for my dogs to go to day care. No discounts or waiving of fees due to this incident. I had to negotiate to ensure my dog would be getting treatment and to be brought to the vet by the facility, as my work hours are 8-6, and due to being a healthcare provider, I cannot leave during those hours, which means my dog wouldn't be able to get the treatment he needs. I am severely disappointed in how the situation was handled, and that there appeared to be a lack of protocol in terms of a dog being injured on their property. I am happy to say that my puppy is fully healed, but due to the negligence and poor handling of this situation by management, I will not be bringing my dogs back to this facility. read more

They didn't know which dog was mine. I took my dog Neo to Puppy Palace for doggie daycare. When I came to pick him up the attendant used the intercom to announce, "Neo for pickup!" Another person came out and said, "Who's Neo?" "The Yorkie," the first attendant said. The second person goes in the back and comes out a moment later. "Which Yorkie? Cause there are two back there?" Stunned silence as we all just look at her. She comes back out with my dog. Of course, he's happy to see me but is panting when we get in the car. It's not hot out. The car isn't hot so he really shouldn't be panting. When we get home, he drinks all of the water in his bowl. It leads me to believe he didn't have access to water while he was there. The 'which Yorkie?' thing leads me to believe they're not tagging the dogs and keeping up with them. When I asked what kind of day he had the attendants just looked at each other. Silence. Then the first attendant said, "We had no bad reports. No bad reports." Well, here's a bad report. I won't be bringing my dog back there. They just don't seem to care about the dogs. I do not recommend puppy palace as a place to board your dog. I left my dog, Bentley, in their care for a little over a week while I was out of town. This is what his skin looks like upon bringing him home. He is also covered in the largest fleas I have ever seen. I can almost guarantee that they did not give him the medicine I sent him with to be given to him every day. Now he needs a vet visit which will probably cost a few hundred dollars more for me when I already spend over $500 for terrible care at this establishment. This place is the worst place ever. I took my dog here because they have a pool and he loves the water. However, our experience was not that great. I called to check on my dog at lunchtime and they told me he was fine but when I got there to pick him up it was a different story. I was told that my dog growled at a toy and add a dog which is very off-balance for my dog. My dog is highly socialized, he goes to dog Park's dog beaches and another doggy daycare and never ever had an issue like this in his life. I tried to get to the bottom of it by contacting George Conda the owner and no one called me back for weeks. All I wanted to know is what they did with my dog while he was there while I was gone for nine hours I know he didn't eat his food as he was nervous. When I told my other daycare of this they could not believe it. I finally received a call back only for the lady to tell me to quit harassing her and that this was as close to George conda that I would get. The only explanation I got is that we don't take mixed breeds. That's funny because most dogs are mixed breeds and what are they saying because my dogs not a pitbull and I definitely saw Pitbulls in the pictures my dog is a lab. On top of it all he's a service dog as well totally not cool. I would never ever bring my dog to this place ever if I were you. read more

Major and Lieutenant TaterTot have stayed here several times while mom and dad have other stuff going on. They went on a cruise and only got us a t-shirt. Just one and we have to share it! Anyway we always have a great time here. Splish splashing in the pool and making new friends. Major is a large yellow Labrador. He's also dads service dog. I'm a seven pound three Legged Chihuahua/Maltese mix. We share a room for overnighters. I get the bed, he gets the floor. I maybe small, but I'm always in charge! The staff here are great people. They keep everything clean and comfortable for us and our friends! Not the least expensive place in town, but worth the price. If you want to be devastated to find out on your birthday, that you will not be able to give your best furry friend a birthday hug after your shift at work because South Tampa Puppy Palace suddenly changed business hours on you without notice. Nothing was emailed, no notices were sent, NOTHING was said at drop off, AND NO PHONE CALLS TO LET ME KNOW that they were closing soon. A sign on the front door?? There was a client leaving as I came In, so the door was held for me -didn't see the sign... I raced here through torrential down pouring rain, on dale Mabry, to make sure I got here by 7pm to pick up my baby girl. The staff lacks any system of communication amongst them when clients call. The manager sends her newest staff to handle client questions when she knows she is in the wrong. Honestly didn't think this horrible of customer service was even possible. Then the MANAGER has the audacity to yell that "it's my fault" at me as I walk out the door. read more

I bought a 20 day package for doggie day care. I travel with my dog and I wouldn't feel right leaving him in my hotel room while I work 10 plus hours. They offer doggie day care from 0700 to 1900 :) I got a good deal by getting the 20 day package plus I got military discount which was cool. The first day negro (my dog) went in for day care he revived a "paw gress" report card. Way cute!!!!! Anyway, I'm not sure why but after 5 pm they put the dogs in kennels which I'm not fond of. . I pick my munchkin up and he is exhausted :) just how I like it, cause he's been playing all day long. But why the kennels so early? That's just mean. Another thing, everytime I pulled in the parking lot my dog would start shaking. not sure what he was scared of, but that made me nervous. Next time I'm in Tampa with my doggie I'll try to find another place for doggie day care. My dog is my kid and if I'm not 100% satisfied with his day care, I will find a we place. read more

I only bring my chihuahua here for nail trimming, and I am always satisfied with the work done by the groomers. It's a convenient location for me and the $5 cost is mininal. I am dismayed by other harsh reviews about the boarding service, but I cannot speak to that. It appears they have very many satisfied customers who do not leave reviews. The staff isn't overly friendly but they have always made me feel comfortable leaving my dogs. My family and friends have always used them and I've always recommended. I have put my cocker spaniel in "doggie camp" many times when I've gone away for the weekend. He seems to love it. Always before, because of all the fun he's had with the other dogs, he came home and took very long naps for a day or two. This evening, though, after I picked him up from two nights at South Tampa Puppy Palace, he has been extremely restless, panting, pacing back and forth, begging for attention. More seriously, he drank three large bowls of water within the first two hours he was home. He never drinks that much water at once. Clearly, my dog was neglected at Puppy Palace. I had a good first experience at the Puppy Palace when I took my dog there to be groomed. However, when I decided to kennel my dog with the Puppy Palace about two months later, I was in for the shock of my life I took my puppy to the Puppy Palace for doggie day care and to be groomed when he was just 2.5 months old. It was his first grooming session and I was most concerned that he just get accustomed to the process. I let the groomer know that it was ok to cut his fur a little shorter than normal for his breed. That session turned out great-- my puppy was exhausted when he got home after playing most of the day and then getting his grooming. He didn't come home with a bandana like the website said all the grooming sessions provided, but it wasn't a big deal. Fast forward two months: I called to make reservations at the Puppy Palace for 6 nights and a full groom. I made arrangements while on the phone for him to attend doggie day care every other day (I didn't think he needed to be in with the other dogs every day considering how tired he was from the previous session) and instructed that he be groomed appropriately for his breed. I dropped my puppy off in the morning on a Thursday and made arrangements for a friend to pick him up the following Wednesday because my flight would not arrive early enough to pick him up that evening. During my vacation, I did not receive any calls from the Puppy Palace to suggest that there were any issues. However, when I got home about 3 hours after my friend dropped my puppy off at my house, I was shocked by his condition. First, he smelled terrible. He was supposed to have been groomed, but it was obvious he had not been bathed. Then, I noticed that he had a large chunk of hardened eye goo above one eye and the other was very messy as well. I held a warm, wet cloth on his eye for more than 30 min to soften the crud to try to remove it. His eye was swollen and irratated and it wasn't helped by the fact that I had to fuss with it to get the crud out of his fur. The hardened goo had a straight edge, so it was clear that the groomer had cut the goo, but didn't bother to try to remove it during his grooming session. Also, the "grooming" was little more than a single size clipper cut all over his coat with a close shave on his belly and on the insides of his thighs. It was absolutely not breed appropriate and it wasn't even a good cut for ANY breed. His skin was incredibly flaky (a common reaction to eating new food) and when I weighed him, he had lost nearly a pound (which is a big deal when you only weigh 18 lbs and you're a growing puppy). I called the Puppy Palace to let them know the awful condition I felt the left my puppy in, but the tech who answered the phone only tried to defend and didn't try to make amends at all. He claimed that the groomer had given my dog the same cut as last time. First, I didn't ask for the same cut as last time, and second, it was most certainly NOT the same cut. Then, the tech said that the groomer noted a "severe skin condition" on the grooming form. I pointed out that this is a very common reaction to new food (note to self: always provide your own food when kenneling a pet). The tech seemed lost. I am appalled that they don't seem to know basic pet care facts such as this. This "severe skin condition" resolved within 3 days after I bathed my puppy and fed him decent food. The tech didn't really have any defense for the hardened goo on the eye. I said that I seriously doubted that my dog had even been put in the doggie day care sessions because it was clear that no one even looked at my dog througout the week longer than it took to dump food into the run. The tech said he was going to have a manager call me, but nearly two weeks later, I have not heard from anyone. If I could, I would give this business no stars. Pet owners beware. Your pet will not be cared for at this place of business. read more

Plus the staff is really young and don't care what goes on. No one communicates either.
