I had seen the negative postings about the staff on Google, but I had never experienced it first-hand until last week. Whomever they have put at their front desk is one of the most rude, pig-headed, unprofessional individuals I've ever had the misfortune of speaking with. I called earlier last week to try to get a check up for a cat I was fostering. We thought she might be in heat, so I had a pretty long conversation with the receptionist about not getting her spayed immediately but still wanting to get her checked out so I could introduce her to my other cats. I was told that they could see us that Thursday at 4:45pm. I told them that I couldn't bring the cat in, but my son would be able to make the appointment. Because I'd only given my name when they first answered the phone, I even said before I hung up, "so we will see you on Thursday at 4:45, right?" That Thursday my son took the cat to Brook Run and was told there was no appointment on the books. When I called to try to get it straightened out, the receptionist told me that we had not made an appointment! If we had, then we'd "be in the system". I explained that our family uses Brook Run but this was a new foster, so she wouldn't be in the system. Her response to that was they "always" put the animals in the system when they make the appointment. Well obviously, they DON'T always put them in the system because someone screwed up. They didn't make any effort to fit us in and acted like we were trying to scam them with a walk in. There was no apology. The only thing they did offer was to make another appointment for next Wednesday. (I wanted to point out that we already had an appointment, but they wouldn't see us!) I was so furious by the front desk's presumptuous nasty attitude that I declined and hung up. Part of me wanted to give them another chance because Dr. Z has been such a great vet, but how do I know that this won't happen again? It was an inconvenience for my son, but he was willing to let it slide. (He took off from work early.) All they had to do was apologize for the mistake. Even if they couldn't fit us in, I would have been ticked off but not so angry that I'd go elsewhere. Instead, they implied that we were being nefarious and somehow tried to skirt the system. Why on earth would anyone subject themselves to that kind of dismissive and disrespectful treatment again? Totally infuriating!!!

I chose this center because it was easier to get to from Williamsburg versus the one in Richmond and Midlothian. 1st complaint in my opinion was I had to insist on meeting the Doctor wish I will refer to as Dr A who was performing the basic examination and ultrasound. I was told by the tech it wasn't their policy for the vet to come into an exam room and talk to an owner upfront. I found this very unprofessional not to introduce yourself and to personally explain the procedure and exam she was going to do & not to rely on just the info provided by the technicians. Ultrasound came back with two large masses meaning cancer and at her age there wasn't anything one could do for her so I decided at that moment to have her euthanized. This is where my 2nd complaint starts. Putting a beloved pet to sleep is one of the most difficult experiences a pet owner can face. I expected a level of compassion and empathy which unfortunately in my opinion again was lacking. It appeared there was little effort made to acknowledge the emotional difficulty family members were going through. I understand veterinarians handle these situations regularly, but for pet owners, this is often a devastating and deeply personal experience. A few kind words, patience and genuine compassion can make a significant difference, something as simple as I'm sorry you have to go through this. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. After I decided on euthanasia they took my dog to the back room to insert a port into her leg to provide the drugs to euthanize her. They took so long in doing this making it even more painful & agonizing for us waiting in the exam room, it must have been a good 20 + minutes to insert this port. I've had many dogs in my lifetime and when they had to be euthanized it only took like 5-10 minutes. The only one who said sorry I was going through this was Ashley the receptionist who was extremely kind.

Never met the Dr. they said she had licked it and it was infected. Impossible with a surgical suite and an Elizabeth collar!!! The mass is still there. A few weeks after that we called multiple days in a row one day it was Dr Purdue which I would not use . We asked Dr Dr brooks she was busy so we walked her in the next day . The online vet I aid to analyze what was going on said it was a bowel obstruction .. Dr brooks did the X-ray they called us later that afternoon and said she had a bowel obstruction and foreign object In her stomach. All they were concerned about was getting a credit card to charge the full surgical estimate. I said I'll pay whatever to save her. Hours and hours later Dr brooks called us back. And said she had removed the stomach contents. I asked her what about the bowel obstruction did you remove it?? She very casually said oh she will pass it !!! I said that is why she was there why wouldn't you d that too ??? Nov reason .. 5 hours later my beautiful child died in my arms. This has destroyed our lives.... If called and told her on voicemail and text which they record everything that she had murdered my baby !!! A few days later I got an email from some corporate claims specialist asking to get me to call him!! He had the nerve to ask what would make me whole !!! Bring my baby back !!! He meant monetarily. He has blown me off for months. We had paid to breed her in the summer very excited... Now every time I go in my bathroom I break out in tears seeing her lying on the floor dead it's her tongue hanging out with her eyes open. I will never forget
