I have been to this salon 2-3 times with my dog, and I have found them to be reliable and good at handling the dogs, plus they are the most affordable salon in Old Town Scottsdale. Decided to take my dog to a different groomer for the first time in his life. Did not go well. His front chest is patchy & bald as well as some other areas. When calling the salon, I was told that she used the same length clippers throughout his body & that my dog just has uneven hair growth. While I believe what she said, I believe that even with his uneven hair growth that this situation could have been avoided. He has never received such a bad haircut before. Hair grows back but i'm pretty sad. Also upon reviewing his nail trim, I think they could've done a better job with that as well. read more

Brought my sheepadoodle pup here for his first haircut on a recommendation from my vet and now he looks adorable and ready for summer! We have been taking our Persian cats here for years and have no plans to try anywhere else! Not all groomers will deal with cats but Tracy is no stranger. She thoughtfully schedules them at times when she doesn't have many big dogs coming in. I've tried grooming my cats at home and it's an absolute nightmare . Took my kitty here for the first time since I've moved to Scottsdale, and the service was fine. Average price, average grooming services, but she still sat in a cage all day waiting for her appointment. Won't be back. I read all the reviews and was slightly apprehensive to bring her here due to the dogs being allowed out, but when I explained my situation upon making my appointment, that I wanted the latest time in the day so as to stress her out as little as possible, as she was 24-years old, a certain day was recommended that was the least busy. I wish I understood why groomers feel it's OK to have cats sit there all day long while they groom the dogs, but it seems to be a common practice for many places. If you know you're not getting around to the cats until after lunch time because you groom the dogs first, don't have us drop the cat off until later. (You wouldn't make someone come in for a 3 PM doctors appointment at 9 AM, right?) The few places I've found that do my appointment right away and call when they're done are in the East Valley, far from me, was just hoping for somewhere closer. TIME FOR AN UPDATE! Tigi has been going to Paws Salon for 12+ years and I trust the owner Tracy 100000% with the grooming and doggie daycare of my precious dog child. Tigi never leaves my side, she goes with me EVERYWHERE (no joke)... and if she is not with me, I only trust my parents or Tracy. Tigi is a 7lb Yorkshire Terrior who has INCREDIBLE social skills because of her lifetime spent at Paws. Dogs of all sizes can roam free if they want (boooo cages!) and Tracy engages with each and every one of them on an individual basis. The valleys very own dog whisperer?? I think so. We all know dogs are social pack animals - and let it be known that the Notorious T.I.G. is a BOSS at Paws. All 7lbs of her may act haughtily towards some of her taller, more mouthy friends - but don't be fooled - she'll drive them crazy with kisses when nobody is looking. You'll find Tigi here every Tuesday and Thursday for a bath and trim... and the occasional random day when mommy has an important meeting or just needs a break. Paws Salon is conveniently located across from the Valley Ho - I will often bring her here for just doggy daycare alone when I'm across the street for a stay-cation or want to do some doggy-free shopping at Scottsdale Fashion Square. As an added side note... as Tigi ages, Tracy always makes sure to inform me of any suspicious bumps she finds or changes in behavior. Sometimes, I wonder if she knows Tigi better than me?!! There have even been times I've texted her after hours to discuss her health or ask advice. Took my cat in for a bath and brush with Terry and she was so nice and did a great job on my Persian. Terry also got his tough tear stains out and made him look gorgeous. When I picked him up his coat was very soft and he smelled clean. I will be returning and would recommend paws salon. I took my cat here a couple weeks ago. It was her first time getting groomed! She's a long-haired cat so it was probably long past due. In my search, it was difficult finding a groomer that had experience with cats. Even more difficult was finding anyone who had a good experience with their cat groomer! I eventually settled on Paws Salon at Jerusha B.'s recommendation. I told Tracy I wanted to avoid shaving her, if possible. I got a long-haired cat for a reason! I also asked for a sanitary trim and for her nails to be trimmed. When I came back to pick her up, she was feeling soft and lovely and smelled wonderful! No cause for complaints there. It did seem like she had forgotten to do the sanitary trim? Either that or my vet (who used to do it for me) cut the hair in that area much closer that Tracy does. Either way, it's not a huge deal. I have only one real complaint but it's the thing that might prevent me from going back to Paws Salon. Either the sound echos or I'm just not used to so many dogs in one place. It is LOUD and, from what I could tell, mostly cage free. I'm sure this is a huge positive for dog owners but it made me a little nervous. My cat has never been around dogs before. It was a bit of a rude awakening, I'm sure! Although it is possible I was more nervous about it than my cat was. I asked Tracy how she did and was told there was only a little bit of growling, which I expected considering it was her first time. For some people, this might not be a problem. It might even be a good thing! But if you have a cat or a nervous dog, I just wanted to give you a heads up. read more

Tracy groomed my daughters goldendoodle. The puppy was matted so she had to cut her very short to remove matted hair in a number of areas which we understood and were fine with. We asked for poodle/clean paws and she cut the dogs paws so short that they are raw in several areas and between her toes. The puppy is super uncomfortable and will not stop chewing on her feet. We have to go to the vet to make sure she doesn't get an infection. Not happy and will not return. read more

Without going into great detail, I acquired a cat. A very large hairy white cat who sheds incessantly. Feeling he was about to achieve critical mass on the follicular level, and since summer was approaching, I thought I'd have him trimmed. I've tried Petsmart grooming before and found the difficulty to secure an appointment and lack of communication in general a little daunting. It's one of the reasons I don't care for chains. There is too often a disconnect where customer service is concerned. Plus supporting local small businesses is just the right thing to do, so I decided to try elsewhere. I took a chance and took him to PAWS. The difference in service and end result was dramatic. I have a new cat! And he's gorgeous. Tracy is an artist... She got it right because she has great attention to detail and she listens! In the past I've asked chain groomers specifically to trim him a certain way yet it's nowhere near what was requested when I pick him up. And of course nobody is ever responsible. Not so with Tracy, I felt confident from the start and frankly I've never been happier. Nor has my cat for that matter. She not only did exactly what was requested, but with added flair. My dog Mia has been to Paws Salon 3 times now but each experience has been quick and easy and although she's terrified when we arrive, she is perfectly content and happy when I pick her up. Mia doesn't need major grooming since she is a Chihuahua mix so we just do a bath, ear cleaning and toe clipping but Tracy does a great great job! It's a small shop and kinda hidden off 5th avenue but you definitely won't regret leaving your little ones there for a few hours! Brought my cat here for a sanitary shave, he came back with a bleeding paw and his whiskers were cut, which after calling and consulting with my vet are not supposed to happen especially after going in for a simple sanitary shave. I was also informed I was severely overcharged. My cat was traumatized and did not want get out of his carrier when he got home, and hide under the couch for a couple hours which is completely abnormal behavior for him. I dropped my bichon off this morning for a groom and temperament evaluation. Picked him up a little bit ago and after getting home I see that three of his nails were trimmed so short that he had clearly been bleeding. Ouch. Poor little guy! That is NOT what I expect from a professional groomer - that's what I expect when I do it myself - that's why I take him to the pros! They claim to have done an evaluation of his temperament but clearly had not - the dog they described was not how my dog acts around other dogs - unless, I guess, they did it after they hurt him while trimming his nails. I don't believe this is a place for smaller dogs. I have a pretty skittish dog and he is under 10 lbs. When we walked in, there were at least 5 big dogs barking right at the door that we could hear from across the street. It was even too loud for me, let alone a tiny pup. Although the haircut was okay (I ended up evening out some spots on him when I got him home), I think I'm going to look for another place that specializes in smaller dogs who don't have doggy daycare. I recently moved within just a few miles of Paws Salon, so I thought I would try them out based on the reviews here and convenience. What can I say, they have set the bar at a whole new level for me as they did a great job with my Cairn Terrier. The location is also very welcoming. My dog, usually scared to go to the Petsmart groomer, was in good spirits when I dropped her off and picked her up. Another bonus is the turnaround time.... I had her back in just over a couple hours, it was great! Lastly, I would like to say I appreciate how they price accordingly to the size of the breed. I found Tracy through the company, Real Animal Way, that I buy my dog food from. I adopted a dog, Cinnamon, from a rescue group and found out afterwards that she was full of Ticks. I called quite a few groomers to get pricing to have her clipped and dipped and the prices I kept getting quoted were just outrageous. I knew this wasn't going to be cheap but I wasn't prepared to take out a loan either. I gave Tracy a call and she agreed to check out our new dog. I gave her the information on Cinnamon and she quoted me a "realistic" price plus, she could do it the next day. A few of the places I called didn't have opening for 3-4 days and there was no way this tick infested dog was hanging at our house for "days" while we waited for her appointment. I dropped Cinnamon off and picked her up later in the day. Tracy did a great job and made sure she gave our dog the correct cut and didn't just shave the dog like a few of the other groomers were quoting me on. I have tried various places to get my labradoodle, Chelsea, groomed, but had never found anywhere that did it just right. Well, i am glad i have found Paws Salon - they have done a fantastic job with my baby girl and really listened to what i wanted. She did not come out looking like a poodle, which so often happens with labradoodles (apologies to poodle owners, but I want my dog to look like a labradoodle not a poodle). I can not say enough wonderful things about Paws and about Tracy, the owner. I have been taking my two boxer boys, Oliver and Cooper, here forever and they LOVE it. Literally when they see where we are they dash inside and I have to drag them out at the end of the day. Tracy knows how to handle all of these different animals and there has never been a problem, even with my high energy dogs. We take them to day care regularly and this is where we board them if we go out of town. They always come home happy and exhausted. I love the report cards I get to let me know how they are doing, and Tracy is great about making sure they get meals and medications (if needed). Yesterday, my dog Scooby was smelling so "rank" it was making my husband crazy! So, I took her in to Tracy at Paws and she shampooed her with oatmeal shampoo. Scooby came home with a pink bow and smelling like strawberries and cream! She is huggable again.. Another thing about Paws Salon, when I park out front, Scooby jumps out of the car and runs right in the salon with no leash! Then when it's time to go back into the washroom area, Scooby runs ahead and goes out the back door to play with the other dogs til it's bath time. There's no dragging & coaxing like at the other places. When I leave her, she's not cowering in a cage somewhere she's running around meeting new friends. So I don't feel guilty at all. Absolutely love this place! My very active American Eskimo/sheltie mix puppy go to doggy daycare several days a week and comes home absolutely exhausted from playing with all his buddies! This is also where he stays when we go out of town on the weekends... They dont kennel the dogs so they are free to find there own little sleeping spots on doggy beds and staff is there overnight to keep an eye on everyone. He absolutely adores the people who work there. The staff is very friendly and helpful. LOVE this place! read more

We are relatively new to Paws Salon. One of our dogs has been there for doggy daycare. She has "issues" in terms of being afraid of people due to lack of socialization. They were very kind to her. I have taken my fur babies, Winston (8 years old) and Annabelle (7 years old) to Paws Salon all of their lives. Even when I moved to Desert Ridge and North Scottsdale, I would make the drive down to Old Town Scottsdale. I wouldn't take them anywhere else! Tracy and her staff always do a great job and my kiddos are always happy and sassy with bows in their hair when I pick them up. I am very particular about how I like them groomed and they always accommodate me and the pups always come home IN JUST A FEW HOURS(!!!!) looking great. Unfortunately we just moved to the Palm Springs area but Tracy offered to talk to the groomer I find here and explain exactly how she grooms them so it's the same routine and they are stressed as little as possible. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Paws Salon. I used to take my dog to Canine Preferred but the ladies at the front dest were flakey, so I thought I'd try a new place and I am SO glad I did. The owner Tracy clearly has a passion for animals. Walking in you are greeted by a cat, dog, and Macaw that call the front of the shop home. You are able to see them grooming the dogs (a big plus for me, you never know what some places do behind closed doors). She is very professional and seems like a no bullshit kind of lady (in a good way). She's to the point, tries to listen to exactly what you want and offers options and suggestions to help. They keep track of the previous cut that was given (it's annoying some places you to have to tell them every time). I would highly recommend this pet salon. They also offer daycare, and overnight boarding. I can't want to try the daycare to socialize my pup some more! Can't go wrong at this salon.. read more
