I trust NO ONE with my dogs. People always say "ya ya, my dogs are my kids" but mine REALLY are. So I take dog walking, and dog sitting VERY seriously. Last year I took a job where I was suddenly unable to work from home or return home at lunch and needed to get a dog walker. After getting some personal referrals from neighbors, I learned about Carla and Paws Up LA. Carla came to my house to meet the dogs, and we went over all the details with regards to safety of the dogs, and keeping the house locked up. I have NEVER felt uncomfortable with Carla taking care of my babies. She really goes above and beyond. She will give them medicine, change their food and water, and even swap out their puppy pads if needed. (And we have an OLD yorkie who can not hold it and doesn't have great aim, so sometimes that's quite a mess) And my dogs LOVE her. I've been there a couple of times when she's come to walk them and they totally freak out. My dogs are not the easiest to walk, but she takes all 3 of them like its no problem. I would highly recommend anyone who is needing a dog walker, but feeling a little uncomfortable with the idea of entrusting the safety of your house and babies with a stranger. Carla has been amazing. We have an indoor cat with his own feeder, who hates being boarded, so Carla has been great for coming over and petting him and helping him not feel too lonely when we're on long trips. His behavior is so much better when we return, and the peace of mind of knowing Carla will be prompt and handle anything that arises is reassuring. She has also handled feeding the fish, bringing in mail, watering plants, turning on lights, and taking photos of the pets. Also, after we moved, we were able to send her our door code last minute when we needed a check-in, and she handled it with no problem. Not surprised that Paws Up has a perfect 5 star rating! All the previous reviews are accurate I've left my dog Hailey with Carla several times and I could not be happier! Hailey is a very fearful rescue dog and doesn't trust easily. I have so much trouble introducing her to people much less finding a pet sitter! But Carla's demeanor is so calm and she is so wonderful with animals that Hailey felt comfortable with her almost immediately!! If you have a "special" dog like my Hailey, I'd highly recommend Paws Up. I received picture texts and emails all throughout her stays there. It was so nice to see Hailey spending her days lounging in the backyard, sunbathing or wading in the kiddie pool, not in a kennel. Our 65 lb dog does full body tail wags and LEAPS for joy when Carla comes to take him for his walk, his body language tells us everything we need to know - she's awesome. She's been walking him for over 6 months once a week, we're both working from home so it's really just been to give him a chance to socialize with other people, we adopted him during the pandemic. After my husband's knee surgery, we were in desperate need of a dog walker for Toby, our sweet but willful Basenji. Carla and Cybele were everything we could ask for and more. They responded quickly and efficiently to our call, came out and met with us, were extremely pleasant, reasonable and easy to deal with. But the best part was the actual walks. Every morning Cybele showed up right on time and took Toby for a brisk, engaging 45 minute walk, bringing him home tired and content. Toby got a really good daily work out, which is exactly what we wanted for him. She's even gotten pictures of our skittish cat who's usually afraid of everything (and she takes fantabulous pictures, I have no idea how since my cats are lightning fast...) We are so happy that we've found Carla/Paws Up L.A. to look after our three cats when we are away. Carla has looked after the cats for us over two different trips, and both times it was a great relief to know that she was taking such good care of them. We have been impressed with Carla's professionalism, conscientiousness, and personal warmth from our very first contact with her. When she comes to care for the cats, she doesn't only take care of the tasks of feeding them, playing with them for a little while, and so forth, but she also pays close attention to how much and how fast they are eating each visit, how they seem to be doing emotionally, how affectionate they are, and so forth. I really appreciate that she, like us, is concerned that the cats are actually happy and comfortable while she looks after them. One of our cats is extremely skittish, but she has been patient enough with him to be one of the very few individuals who have ever earned his trust. Her observations and feedback on how they were eating helped me fine-tune the amount of food to give them on her visits. And she sent daily updates and pics of each cat so that we always knew how they were doing. Our cats were totally relaxed when we got home from both of our trips, and that can only mean that they were very well cared for. Dependable, flexible and good with our cat, Steve, Carla was a wonderful pet sitter for us while we were away. She sent me daily text updates (with photos of Steve), which reassured me all was well at home.
