I have expressed genuine concerns over the fact prior to adopting my girl, she had to have one of her legs amputated due to patellar luxation and have asked Dr. Stone to check it each and every time to make certain all is well. (most recent visit was in Sept. Suddenly, this past week our girl began limping severely, and I had to wait two days to get an available appt to see another Dr as Dr Stone only works Fri and Sat. This other Dr. - a male, wasn't too helpful but referred us to a local ortho surgeon after telling me my girl had stage 2 luxation - which as you will read later makes me question his level of expertise. The vet he referred us to has a very low rating (3.6) and wanted over $285 JUST FOR A CONSULT! This is after paying the fee to get the "professional consult" of the Dr we saw. I did some research and everyone said that "Blue" vet hospital is terrible and to avoid them. So I did. Now I am questioning the practices of this Clinic. Don't they care who they refer their patients to? And he diagnosed my girl with Stage 2 but the very next day I went to the best orthopedic surgeon in the state and he did the surgery that day - telling me she was a severe stage 3 and clearly had been at that level for some time as the stages don't progress that rapidly. Now, I am questioning whether I even want to continue pet care here. My gut is telling me no.

They always follow up after a visit--just like they did for Shadow--to see how Blue is doing or if he had any reactions to his meds. It's rare to find a vet that combines this level of professional service with such a personal, caring touch. Highly recommend!

Upon arrival, we were required to pay a $700 deposit before our cat was even evaluated. After payment, he was taken to the back, but instead of immediate treatment, we were instructed to call an animal poison control hotline ourselves which also required an additional fee. We were not informed that the clinic would also charge an even higher fee to consult with poison control. We spent about an hour on hold with poison control while our cat waited in distress. After completing lot of paperwork, He was treated with antibiotics and anti nausea medication, we were sent home with just antibiotics, despite the fact that he was still experiencing severe labored breathing. The breathing issues continued throughout the night. The next day, Dr. Goodyear called and said she regretted not administerina a steroid to help his night. The next day, Dr. Goodyear called and said she regretted not administering a steroid to help his breathing. We returned immediately to pick it up. Tragically it was too late, after giving the first dose at home, our cat vomited, began convulsing, and passed away. We later took him to another veterinary clinic for a necropsy and were told that the prolonged respiratory distress likely led to cardiac arrest. We are very heartbroken. We brought our cat in for urgent care and trusted that he would receive immediate, appropriate treatment. Instead, we feel critical time was lost, and key decisions were delayed. And unfortunately our beloved cats life was cut short.

When we discovered that our nine-year-old spaniel was bleeding from her mouth, we monitored her for an hour or so to see if it subsided. After all, it was a Sunday and our regular vet wasn't open. When the bleeding continued, with it occasionally being pretty significant, I jumped on my vet's website to see what emergency clinics they recommend. Emergency Pet Care of Texas was one of two listed, and since I'd had an extremely negative experience with the one that is actually closer to me, I made the nearly 40-minute drive up to Magnolia to have her checked out. Sign in was smooth and not overly detailed (not asking a lot of what I deem as unnecessary questions). Wait time was minimal. Tech tended to her relatively quickly, and by this time much of the bleeding had subsided greatly. Still wanted her to see a vet, which she did shortly. Vet was thorough and didn't recommend any additional testing or examination because by the time she saw the vet, all bleeding had stopped. If it had not, it would have indicated something more severe: rat poison or sago palm ingestion, for example. But since that did not appear to be the case, we were instructed to watch her, keep her quiet with minimal exercise and see our regular vet the next day when they were open if the bleeding began again. I appreciate that EPCT was not overly aggressive in trying to treat what turned out to be a minor nick on her gum line that apparently caused the bleeding (mouth bleeds can be pretty traumatic initially, I was told, but they do subside within an hour or two if it's nothing serious). Other emergency vet clinics usually jump on "needed testing" which results in sometimes exorbitant charges that prove nothing at all (I'm speaking from experience). The techs and the vet calmed my fears, assessed my dog for potential dire conditions and sent us on our way. Easy to locate, ample parking, nice waiting area, friendly attendants, techs and vet experience. Charges were extremely fair. Wait time for us was short, but understand they do triage incoming cases so wait times can be extended due to severity of emergency. Definitely recommended, since they only treat emergency cases (rather than continuing, routine care of pets), so they are clearly prepped for that. While it was a drive to get here from where we live, it was worth it knowing I wouldn't need to cash in my 401(k) for my dog to be seen on a Sunday.

The news was not what I wanted, but as the person who has raised him for 19 years, it was a decision I had to make. My point here is the ladies that were on duty that evening were not just professional, or on point with their assessment, but went above and beyond on the empathy scale. I cannot say enough about the support that I received while I was there and I would 1000% recommend this Clinic to anyone. Everyone that helped me that evening from the front desk to the ladies in the back...I appreciate the kind words and the hugs that I received. I even clarified, "So the first dose lasts 2 months and it's comped?" and was told yes. Twice. By 2 different people. Instead, they said only Revolution could be comped, which is a 1 month topical, not the 2 month medication I was originally told about. At that point, it's not even about the money, it's the principle. I made my decision based on the information your staff gave me, and then it completely changed when I got there. So now: * My cat Tilly was stressed in a crate for over an hour for no reason * My time was wasted * Your front desk staff had to deal with a frustrated client (I know it's not entirely their fault they are doing their best and are very kind) * Your clinic lost a customer entirely All over a single dose of medication that could have easily been honored. Part of my problem is that I have a Great Dane, a little over a year old (and I'm embarrassed to say), that I have not socially acclimated well. I called the clinic ahead of time and asked about their waiting room area because this had been an issue with my last vet's office. I explained my circumstances and they said call us in the parking lot when you arrive and we will let you know when a room is open so you can take him right in. I arrived 15 minutes early and they did just as they had promised. The wait to see the vet tech was a little long but she apologized and said they had an emergency that morning so they were running behind. I can understand and appreciate that. The tech advised me of the packages and what was recommended but not necessary and even waited while I called my boarding facility to see what they required for his future stays. They took Brutus into the back to weigh him and a few minutes after asked me to come back to help get him on the scales. I managed to coax the front half of him on and 2 of the vet techs helped "load" the back end of him on. He was 156.6 lbs so it was no small feat and I appreciated the two ladies' efforts. Dr. Martin was great. Super patient with administering the vaccinations and advising me on my puppy's care. I had asked for my boy's nails to be dremmeled. Here's where they really showed that they care about my business and taking care of my pet. Brutus wiggled, squirmed, turned over a chair and did everything he could to get away from the three of us and having his nails trimmed. After about 10 minutes we finally got him calmed down enough to basically accept his fate. lol If you care about good customer service and making sure your pet is in the right hands I highly recommend this vet clinic. They have won my business after a year's search.

My oldest dog, a Cocker Spaniel, was experiencing a lot of problems. After many costly tests at my previous vet, I could not get a definitive diagnosis of Cushing's Disease. I came to 1488 where Dr. Lindsay Helton reviewed the lab result copies I brought with me, they did a thorough exam, and determined she's just a "crunchy older dog" a lot of arthritis and a thyroid issue. She was prescribed a daily anti-inflammatory, a pain reliever and Levothyroxine and she's all frisky and engaged and like her younger self again! Dr. Green has been treating my 9 year old Cocker Spaniel who has kidney disease. When she was in the process of diagnosing my dog, each step of the way Dr. Green offered me various options/cost of diagnosis. We were able to progress conservatively and continue to manage my dog's health problems without breaking the bank. My third, younger dog, a Dachsund/Beagle mix, has a skin allergy issue. Dr. Amy Bleibury has primarily handled his case and again, we were able to take a conservative approach and have his allergies under control. Lastly, when my Mom's dog passed away, FM 1488 AMC was able to guide us to a caring pet crematory who came to my Mom's home to pick up her dog. All the vets we've interacted with have given us top-notch care and I've ALWAYS been given the options from "If money were no object..." to conservative, cost effective steps for care and diagnosis. Veterinary care is does not come cheap, and unfortunately, animal medical insurance isn't that great. I have no objection to paying fair and reasonable costs for great care of my animals which is what I've found at this clinic. As a final comment, I must say the all the vets are so kind and loving and care for my dogs as as if they were their own. They very patiently explain everything and answer all my questions. The front desk staff is terrific and efficient despite a very thriving practice and the vet techs all really seem to love their jobs and their patients.
