LOVE LOVE LOVE. First off they are so welcoming and amazing with the pups that come through the doors! My girl was so excited when we came in she just walked on back and didn't care about me lol. We got Tonks evaluated for day care and they are very alert and attentive to all the pups in the daycare. They have cameras where you can peak in and see what your fur baby is doing and that honestly eased my nerves a lot! I was able to see that she was having fun! When I picked her up she was exhausted and I've never seen her worn out like that. But it was very good for her to get out of the house and enjoy time with other dogs! We are also in the training class at Pawtropolis and we absolutely love it! We make sure to be attentive in class and work on the tasks at home as well. Her behaviors have tremendously improved! I called today to request to drop him off an hour or two earlier and they informed me they had canceled my reservation. My puppy is now 1 1/2 years old and no longer has separation anxiety due to the attention and care she received by the Pawtropolis staff. My sweet 1 year old golden retriever came to stay for a luxury sleepover with daycare added on each day. I dropped him off with calming chews since it was his first time and told them to call me for permission to use if he seemed anxious. This morning, a girl called me and said "He is okay, nothing is wrong he is all good" and that he was scratching at the door before playgroup for daycare and asked if they could administer calming chews. I said yes and thanked her for called me. Upon picking him up, I learned that he had blood on his door and needed his paw cleaned and I was not notified. The employee thought they had called and spoken to the owner. I am the owner and no one told me. I found out unpacking his bag upon arriving home that he did not eat a meal from leftover bags. I called and THEN they told me he did not eat breakfast this morning when they asked to administer medication. He is not supposed to have the calming medication on an empty stomach so I would've said no. I also asked the food to be wet and it being dumped in the bag shows it was never made wet. I was excited for my dog's stay and am so disappointed and honestly feel I've only been told the half truth of my pup's stay. I went out of town placed my trust in a recommended business to be so let down is so sad, unfortunately look elsewhere for an overnight stay :( read more

I just recently brought my dog for her Playgroup Evaluation and even before bringing her in person, I can safely say I was thoroughly impressed with Pawtropolis! As someone who has worked for years in daycare/boarding facilities and seen her fair share of the good, the bad, and the ugly, this place really sets the bar so high! I admire their attention to detail, transparency, positive attitudes, and clean environment. You can tell just how much thought and effort has been put into this business by the fact that they answer most owner's questions before even being asked through their easy to use and informative website and registration process. Although it's more expensive than most boarding facilities at the local vet, there are quite a few perks here for picky pet owners or those with special needs (owners or pets...). If you like, they'll board your dogs in a special private bedroom complete with a TV that plays flicks just for pets (like Lady & The Tramp) and a delightful child's bed complete with themed linens! However, we take our boys there for the play groups. Your dogs will be specially placed in an appropriate play group by size and personality. Each group is monitored by an employee at all times, to make sure that everyone plays nicely. Pets spend time both indoors and out, either way. This is a particularly great way to help your pets stay socialized, an important aspect for health and behavioral care. Lots of other perks are offered, from massages to deluxe meals and special walks. You can even watch your pup on webcam while you're away! Yes, they also have Kitty City for your cat while you're away. Your kitty will enjoy a private crate as well as time within a room full of scratchables and a very large window for napping. They often have one or two adoptables there, too. You'll know them by the bandannas around their necks. We pay the extra money for Pawtropolis because our boys come back in the best shape here. We have a few other places we use if Pawtropolis is booked, but they always come back a little neurotic no matter how good the care is at other places. Our dominant older corgi gets to work out his nerves by staying active all day. Our playful 3 legged pitbull gets to satisfy his need to wrestle from dawn to dusk. On top of that, we have very specific care instructions as the pit has a very specific feeding ritual to deal with his past abuse and his tummy acid. No problem, one of their staff sits with them to ensure that they eat together without our corgi eating the pit's food. Perfect! I do suggest that if they're boarding you go ahead and have them bathed before you pick 'em up. Wrestling and playing all day for the week will make a pup stinky, you know. We love our happy, tired and fresh smelling dogs and always agree that it is worth the money! Discounts available for longer stays and for multiple pets. Reservations are highly suggested for overnight stays. Know that drop-off takes about 30 minutes if you're newer or have special needs and stuff (his/her own bed, toys, food etc. or just use the provided stuff) for your pet. They document everything, and that takes a while! Finally - prior to your first day-time or over-night stay your dog will have to come in for personality testing. They make sure your baby gets along well, and figure out what play groups to put them in for the future. My dogs stayed at Pawtropolis West from July 22- July 31. They did private boarding in the apartments. This is the first time I've ever put my dogs in boarding. To start off, I didn't know private boarding doesn't allow you to watch your pets through a camera while away. Kind of a let down. I was also hoping to get some type of daily review of how my dogs were doing since I was away but instead they do small note cards and you get them the day you pick them up. Unfortunately, my dogs did develop kennel cough while being there which was very upsetting. I informed the facility of this, they told me they'd call in 3days to check on them but they didn't. Lastly, the rooms they were in were as big as the picture. I had two German Shepard dogs, one 70lb and one 100lb. read more

After hearing mixed reviews about the boarding, I decided to give it a try anyways bc I've heard great things about the daycare here. My two dogs did a private apartment for 2 nights, and we also added on hikes for both of them. They were separated for meals and one was only fed 2 of the 6 servings that I packed. I filled out their feeding instructions online, had it written on the bags and went over it with the check in staff (not complicated - 1 cup 3x a day)... I noticed the bag was still full when I went to pick them up and I asked if maybe he was fed someone else's food and they assured me that was not the case.... Sharing Updated Review: Following my original Yelp/ Google review posting, I was contacted by management at the Eastside Pawtropolis location. They refunded my boarding costs for the duration of my dog's stay, which I was appreciative of, as I had to additionally pay for my dog's grooming bill and vet bill following his stay. They asked for the paperwork I received upon pick-up, which indicated that a final health check was not completed. I was told that management informed the staff member of this missing information, and there was disciplinary action taken. Original Review: I want to make this a fair review, especially as my dog has loved Pawtropolis in the past- going there typically once per week or more. He loves the daycare groups! My most recent experience, however, was not good. I was recently out of town and boarded my dog (daycare sleepover) at Pawtropolis and was not happy when I picked him up. Upon pickup, after ~5 days of boarding (including daycare, meals, a bath, etc), my dog was really cut up (bite marks, big scratches, and a very bad cut on the side of his face/ neck). He also had a lot of matted fur, and missing patches of fur. Those who know my dog, know him to be a gentle giant, so I was upset when I saw what another dog had presumably done. Don't get me wrong, I completely understand that dogs will play- scratches will occur, and accidents can happen. And typically, Pawtropolis is great about letting you know if something has happened (they will write a notecard saying something like "small cut on paw, but playing ok!"). This time, however, and after numerous injuries no one told me anything. I noticed these issues when I got home, immediately. I was surprised no one said anything, especially considering he had a bath, and they were definitely noticeable. I called, and no one answered. I called back twice the next day and no one answered. After a trip to the groomer to remove the matted fur and a trip to the vet for steroids, antibiotics, probiotics, and to be shaved so his injuries could heal, I am sure my dog will be ok (about ~$200 dollars of expenses later, plus the ~$220 spent on boarding at a facility that is noted to be the best care in Athens). I'm not sure what happened, but I've tried calling with no answer, and no one has replied to my review/ e-mail. read more

I'm not sure why there aren't more reviews here. I know Yelp isn't huge outside major cities, but come on guys, we gotta give credit where it's due! Pawtropolis is fantastic. I find it to be pretty expensive, but it is the best quality 'doggie daycare' establishment I have ever seen (Anywhere!). They are actually expanding to a massive facility that I'm sure will be incredible (Even though we will be in Boston and won't get to experience it). They have it all here for both dogs and cats. Fantastic facilities and they do not keep your pet locked up in a cage while you're gone on vacation for a week. It is an open facility and all the dogs that are allowed in are temperament tested. They are also all vaccinated and meet other requirements, but honestly, if you're paying this much money a day to keep your dog happy, you certainly have him/her up to date on all their vaccinations. If you can't find a pet sitter for when you go on vacation, I'd absolutely recommend this place! They do daycare as well. read more

I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at Pawtropolis. They go above and beyond what is expected because they truly love your pet as much as you do. I recently moved away from Athens. On my dog's last day of daycare before the move, Pawtropolis surprised our pup with a complimentary bath, toys, and even a hand made goodbye letter FILLED with hand written notes by the entire staff. Pawtropolis is the best boarding option to use in Athens. We have received great treatment from both Pawtropolis locations, but the Eastside location is the one I want to rave on in this review. My wife was pregnant with our first child and was due in early December. As we all know, babies don't really care that much about due dates so I called Pawtropolis to arrange for an apartment lodging for our two dogs Bane and Layla to stay at Pawtropolis while my wife and I were at the hospital having our baby. Pawtropolis reserved an apartment for them for 2 full weeks from a week before until a week after the due date so that we didn't have to worry about them having an available apartment whenever we went into labor. Well, we did obviously eventually go into labor and it was on a Sunday night right before Pawtropolis closed. I called P-Trop and said that I wouldn't be able to get the dogs to them that night, but I would bring them over at 7:00 a.m. the next morning when they opened. The next morning I did just that and in fact got there a little early around 6:45. I figured I would have to wait until 7:00 when they opened, but instead the woman working the desk came to the door and asked me if I was Adam. She said that they had been expecting me and I was able to get the dogs in early before they technically opened for the day. Two days later we were finally released from the hospital in the afternoon. We decided to just stop by P-Trop on the way home to pick up the dogs. When I got there I went into pick up the dogs and pay. I had requested that the dogs each have a playtime session each of the two days they were there so I expected to pay for the boarding plus those extra playtime sessions. Instead, I was told by the person at the desk that they were only going to charge just for the lodging itself and that the playtimes were on the house. Additionally, they gave both dogs a bath for free because they said they wanted the dogs to be clean when they met their new little brother. And to top it all off, they put a blue stuffed teddy bear that said "It's a Boy" in the dog's bag with their belongings. Like I said, Pawtropolis is the best boarding location. I have actually used other boarding locations before and always regretted how they were nowhere near as good as Pawtropolis. And after this latest trip there and the way they treated us they have definitely secured a return customer for life. read more

Pawtropolis is a sanity saver! We adopted a beautiful young dog just over a year ago. She is smart and energetic. A fantastic combination, but challenging. We used to take to her to dog parks to get her dog-oriented exercise. (She loves to wrestle.) But, we had too many incidents with overly-aggressive dogs attacking her. Rather than risk turning her into a dog who fears other dogs, we decided to adopt a second dog who could keep her company. While we searched for the right companion we turned to Pawtropolis as her source of entertainment. We were pleasantly surprised - which is saying something because we had high expectations going in. They put each dog through a Temperament Test before allowing them to attend Doggie Daycare. A well-trained staff member spends hours getting to know each dog's personality and slowly introducing them into an appropriate play group. Appropriate is defined by size, temperament and play style. They require training and proof of changed behavior for any dog who fails the Temperament Test. The proof is in the pudding, as they say. Our dog attended Doggie Daycare at Pawtropolis at least once a week for over a month. She was always worn out and contented when we picked her up. And more importantly, she was always EXTREMELY happy to go back. A sure sign that she had a great experience there. If you miss your dog during the day you can use their webcams to watch them play and interact with the other dogs. I thought I would use this feature frequently during her daycare days. But, I found that I was so sure she was doing well and having fun that I only checked in on her once. Pawtropolis is also affiliated with Helping Paws Rescue. They not only helped us keep our dog entertained while we searched for a second dog, they helped us find the right dog - even when it was obvious that none of the dogs they had up for adoption were the right ones for us. Our next interaction with the folks from Pawtropolis will be attending Basic Obedience with both of our dogs. I am confident that our experience will be positive! read more

We've used the Home Alone service for our cats, and we were very happy with the service. Our sitter checked in every day, took a few minutes to sit with our cats after the feeding/litter box cleaning was done, and generally did a great job. It's nice being able to leave town knowing that our cats will be just as healthy and happy when we return as they were when we left them. And the rates are quite reasonable, too. read more

They do a good job clipping his nails as well. Wish they had a reward program for how much I bring my pup I could use a free day every now and then. The Helping Paws Rescue at Pawtropolis changed my life. They rescued my dog Aspen, and their workers fostered here in their home, teaching her wonderful tricks such as how to sit, lay down, and beg. She also learned to wait when told, so I feed her, leash her, and open car doors without fear that she will bolt or rush. But even moreso, they saw to her vet care as a pup, they nurtured her, and when she went to doggy day care, they truly showed that they love every dog there. They post plenty of pictures, and Aspen always looked happy. She was always clean, confident, and in a vibrant mood when I picked her up. Plus, their facilities are fantastic!!! There is a race car bed, an outside play ground, and even a pool at their newest location!!! For a couple of months after I adopted Aspen I did have some struggles, but the owner herself spoke with me personally whenever I had doubts or questions. They don't just adopt their puppies out and forget them. They form lifelong relationships with those who adopt, and I couldn't ask for more in a rescue and doggy day care. Pawtropolis is awesome! After bringing my 8 week old puppy home I knew I wanted to find a puppy class, doggy day care, and groomer to take him too. Pawtropolis is all three of those things! The puppy class we took him too was fantastic, the trainers were so helpful, informative, and obviously knowledgable. The doggie day care couldn't be any better! The facilities are clean and well kept and the staff are so friendly and helpful. I always know he is in good hands when I drop him off and can even check up on him using the webcams they have set up! The eastside location groomer has also been fantastic for grooming (he is a labradoodle). They're nice and helpful with my dog but they speak more about dogs as a whole than my individual dog, which made it hard to understand why they told me my dog was doing well. One day when I picked her up from day camp the staff said she got attacked and I haven't been back since and have since had to medicate my dog for anxiety that she did not display before this. They are worth it for the day camp though but acted like my dog getting attacked was a "fight" even though they said she didn't fight back. You can see in the owners response below that she doesn't even mention that her staff is in charge of observing and caring for these dogs or the attack on my dog. She starts talking about my dog's behavior (which she even states is mainly all good things) and is revealing my dogs personal documentation here on Yelp publicly. She's describing behaviors of my dog when she was a puppy and only attests to the energy level and not her temperament. Also I've never met her and she has not even spoken to me about my dog, and she claims to have knowledge that her staff did things and explained things to me that they simply did not do, so it comes across as if she is just making things up. I am firmly changing this review to 1 star for the self-preservation attitude shown in her message below instead of making things right or being sympathetic. read more

I bring my dogs here for daycare and I've had nothing but great experiences. I'm able to watch them during the day on the webcams, which are a great amenity, and after watching the staff interact with the dogs for awhile now I'm impressed. They manage the dogs well, they play with the dogs and give them pets. They even have a pool in the summer. Every time I go they give me an update on how their day went. When my wife and I started bringing our dogs here to have their nails trimmed we loved to place. Unfortunately it's not the case. When we first came here it was $7.00 to get their nails trimmed now it's 10 and on November 1 it's gonna be 15. They also told us that the only time that walk-in trimmings will be done between 1-230. 7 days a week. We work so how are we supposed to make that time slot. We've brought our dog over for daycare over 5 times and she has begun to love it. She goes crazy when ee step out the car! The cameras there are also a godsend. This was our first trip to Pawtropolis. I would recommend them over other kennels in the area. In fact, we drove 35 miles to use them. They are attentive and our dogs were safe and appeared well cared for. They even noticed an abscess in one of our dogs so we were grateful. I would use them again. I would recommend them to friends. Pawtropolis is really one-in-a-million. I moved out of the area over a year ago, and still compare every boarding, training, and daycare facility that we visit to Pawtropolis...and every single one falls short. We have chosen to drive the 10 hours home to visit family (instead of flying) on several occasions so the dogs could stay at Pawtropolis instead of boarding somewhere up here. We really do love them that much! It's obvious that owner Amanda and all of her staff love animals and have the health, safety, and well-being of the animals as their primary interests. They spend hours with your pet on their first day (during the Temperament Test) getting to know them and ensuring that they are comfortable in daycare and that daycare is the best option for them. They always give you honest and thorough updates when you pick them up after a day of playing and will call you if your pet is acting differently than then normally do. Even if your pets stay in the luxury suites, apartments, or kitty city instead of hanging out in daycare, your pets will still receive tons of one-on-one attention. Where else will you find that sort of care? Also, you'd be hard-pressed to find an animal care facility in the area who puts more time and energy into training their staff. Many staff members have completed classes to be certified in pet first aid or as animal care technicians. Several of them have completed basic to advanced training with their own pets (or foster pets) and others work as trainers or assistant trainers. Some even compete in dog sports with their personal pets. Talk about qualified! In addition to having the most-qualified and well-trained animal lovers in the area, Pawtropolis is also one of the most beautiful, clean, and well-maintained places you'll find for your pet. Every single playgroup has an attached outdoor area (some with comfy canine grass!) so dogs can go outside to potty whenever they need to, keeping the indoor areas clean and not disrupting your pet's potty habits. Every dog loves the opportunity to play in the sun, so these outdoor areas are great for them. There are several pools (including a great in-ground pool for swimming!) for them to splash in during warm months. Pawtropolis is the only place I can leave my dogs where I know they will receive the best care possible. Drop-off for boarding may take longer than it does at your vet or another boarding facility, but that's because they're making sure that they have all of the instructions correct for your pet's stay. I never have to worry that they won't get their medicine and supplements or that something will go wrong with their food. They always get it right! One of my dogs can really be a grump, but I know that everyone at Pawtropolis knows and loves him and will manage his stay so that he and all of his friends stay happy. Was VERY PLEASED with the groomer who cleaned and cut our Big 100lb baby. We used the new location and they were great with our big goofus of a dog. The price was awesome !!!! Took him to vet last year to have him cleaned up and shaved for summer and he came back to us with a skin problem so needless to he won't get groomed by them anymore. I believe the groomers name was Leah not 100% sure but anyway she's AWESOME and you did a wonderful job and he's been very happy with his new do. He usually hides from us for a couple of days. I'm so incredibly impressed by this place. I was weary letting my pup go into a playgroup since she's my first dog and she's basically my child. My #1 favorite thing about this place is the live webcams. You can see EVERYTHING they do with your dog the whole time they are there. My dog came in for her playgroup evaluation (this is a four hour evaluation that's mandatory for each new dog in the playgroup/daycare). The staff pays so much attention to each dog that comes in and works with them in their problem areas. When I picked her up today, I got a thorough evaluation from them for my dog. The attention to detail is impeccable and they really make sure each dog behaves appropriately. They even have an indoor and outdoor pool area for dogs who like to swim. The inside pool can also be used for dogs who need physical therapy sessions if they have hip dysplasia. My dog spent all day playing and didn't want to come home! Also, after her evaluation, we got sent home with treats and coupons (which is awesome considering the price for daycare is already pretty low). On my dog's forms, I noted that she has to have grain free food and is susceptible to yeast infections. The treats they sent her home with were all grain free! Again, the attention they give to each dog is so impressive. Another thing that was very impressive is how clean the staff members keep the play areas. At one point, all the dogs in my dogs group were moved out of the area so the staff could clean. And i mean they CLEAN! They mopped and scrubbed the floor with soapy water and even scrubbed the inside of every cage area. They also took out a mop and thoroughly cleaned each time a dog had an accident. I could not have better things to say about this place. The staff is so nice and really gets to know each dog. By the end of the day today, my pup was slap tired and slept so well. I started taking my pup to Pawtropolis in September 2018 when I took a new job in the Athens area. I was very pleased with this puppy daycare from the start. My pup attends daycare twice a week and absolutely loves it! He gets very excited when we drive up to the location and can't wait to get out of the car. The staff is wonderful and always provides feedback when you arrive to pick up your pup. The webcams are a great tool as well so you can check in on your furry friend throughout the day. Pawtropolis is DEFINITELY on the steep end of pet care facilities but I can honestly say that their service matches their prices (hence me doing a yelp review in the first place). I have been taking my dog there since I got him during my final year of undergrad at UGA. At first my parents would drive up to Athens with him from Atlanta (I'm telling you the facility is that good) so we could all interact with him during the puppy basics training course and teach him a few commands. Once I graduated (and he graduated from his training class) I began working in Athens full-time and didn't have to look far to ensure that he was getting the care and attention he needed while I was at work all day. In the 4 years I've had my dog I've used Pawtropolis for grooming, daycare, boarding and training. Pretty much the only services I haven't taken advantage of are the pet taxi service and in-home pet sitting service, and that is mainly because of my personal comfort zone. Anyway, Pawtropolis is amazing and once you become a regular the staff there really gets to know your pet and treats them like family, pretty sure they could identify my dog before they could identify me, haha. True I could easily save a lot of money and put my dog in a cheaper place but I know he'd just be in a cage all day and he's a part of my family so I feel more comfortable knowing I'm leaving him in capable and loving hands thanks to the great people at Pawtropolis. read more

This place is great. I have boarded my dog here half a dozen times in the apartments at the Eastside Athens location with added on 1 on 1 time. It is a little pricey but she comes home happy and is excited to walk in the door when we I bring her there. Also, almost every time I pick her up they tell me something very specific and positive about their interactions with her without even realizing it, this makes me feel confident that they really do pay attention and enjoy the dogs that stay there. I only wish they had more affordable add-on packages and had cameras/photos for dogs in the apartment areas. read more

I cannot give enough praise to this facility. They treat each dog as if it is their own pet. Seriously. We experienced the devastation of a home/house fire and lost everything. They worked with us on every level, even through the slow payments from the insurance company. They are compassionate, understanding and never forget the vision of why they created such a lovely, amazing, special and stimulating atmosphere that concentrates' on the well being and joy of your animals. I was so happy to bring my dogs here after having them in a regular boarding facility with a run and an outside area that quite simply broke my heart to leave them at. They have been through so much and our dogs saved our lives with a 4:30 am fire. The folks at Pawtropolis saved OURS! All of us!!! Thank you doesn't say enough. I am so grateful for you all an our dogs Monty and Tocho just ADORE you. I wish I could rate them higher. I do. :0) When I pick them up it will be bitter sweet but one thing is for sure. My beloved Maddie Mae passed away last December...she used to go to Pawtropolis when it was on Mitchell Bridge Rd....It had been many years since I had been in Pawteopolis...when I walked in to the Eastside facilityto to ask questions since it had be some time....Amanda locked eyes with me...she remembered me and Maddie.....she mad me cry...telling her employees that I was one of "the originals that supported her in the early years...and helped make it possible for her to grow her business to the Eastside....Now my girl Riley enjoys 1-2 days a week there....and recently spent a full week there while we were on vacation...It helped me relax knowing she was having fun and being taken care of....Thanks to the wonderful employees...Allison..Shane...SaraBeth...and awesome Pam....i have to learn everyones names...and especially Amanda...I am so thankful that you opened a facility 20 mins. from my home in Crawford...Looking forward to many years of fun and happy times with Riley at Pawtropolis! read more

Such a fantastic place!! Both the Eastside and Westside Pawtroplis are so clean and friendly and well-supervised that you might think for a moment you were in a children's daycare facility. This is clearly a place that loves animals and you can feel complete confidence in leaving your pet there. Our dog loves to go to doggy daycare there, and it has been a lifesaver in getting her through the excess energy of puppyhood. And OMG --- the pools! Our golden retriever loves being able to swim and play with her dog buddies, especially at the Eastside location! We try to take her once a week or every two weeks, and buying a "package" of daycare makes it affordable. We really like the level of supervision during daycare and the fact that every dog must pass a temperament test in order to be included in the group. There is never a concern about safety. Boarding there has also been a fantastic experience for both our dog and our cat. (Kitty City is unlike any other cat boarding I have seen --- cats can roam free in a large space instead of a tiny kennel). The owner, Amanda, is wonderful and has given freely of her time to advise us on training issues when asked. We haven't done any of the formal obedience training there, but feel it would be great -- they do an amazing job training their foster animals. Pawtropolis seems to me like one of those rare businesses where the employees are so well-treated and well-trained that it infuses everything they do with professionalism and courtesy and seems like a genuinely happy place. Humans and dogs alike are greeted by name when they come in, and every single thing is well-organized and well thought-out. Add to that their commitment to animal rescue, and it is a place I am happy to spend my money. If they franchised what they are doing, it would be insanely succcesful, and we are fortunate to have a local business like this in Athens! read more
