So two weeks ago I had to take my car into the dealership the transmission was shuddering and windshield washer pump was out. It took Payne Chevrolet 5 days to figure it out and also say that the battery was under voltage. They also said it was covered under the extended warranty I paid for this is a 2022 Chevrolet Malibu. Yesterday I was told they won't cover the battery because its over 30000 miles. They also said that GM said to re-flash the transmission management module and drive it 1000 miles if it happens again bring it back. Today I get a call from the sales department asking if I wanted to trade it in. I was dude I just bought it 3 months ago. So I told him what I wanted. Left my vehicle for a full 7 days with a problem. Not only did I tell them a code that was on with the check engine light but what was occurring. After 7 days I was called and told they could not recreate the problem and I can come get my vehicle. At the time i picked it up I was informed they don't work on vehicles 15 years or older. My vehicle was 15yrs and 3 months old. So this is my opinion they had my vehicle and never looked at it. With no intention of working on it. So I pick it up. As I am leaving the service department the problem occurred in the parking lot. Yup they could not recreate the problem but I can. As the only owner of this vehicle Chevrolet has been the only place that has worked on it. For all the maintenance. Therefore I had full trust that I could count on the service. Boy was I wrong and played as a not important or valued customer. No I would not recommend this business for sales or service. We have been Payne Chevrolet Service customers for 5 plus years but not any more. Last service on Thursday 2/22/24, I was in for oil/filter change and tire rotation. Waited for my vehicle which was completed in a timely manner. While I was waiting, the service advisor came to me with a very dirty cabin filter and asked if I wanted it changed. I said yes and thanked her. A short time latter, the same advisor came to speak to another customer waiting and asked him the same question, showing him the same (my opinion) dirty cabin air filter. Of course, he said yes also. I'm of the belief, we were both shown the same filter which was on her desk when I checked in. I believe I was scammed into paying for a cabin filter that I did not need nor get. I will not spend any more money for service at this dealership. read more

I bought a 2021 Chevy Blazer with them in April of 2021 and have been taking it for the recommended maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, etc. and at a few months ago I took the Blazer for an oil change and technician stated that it needed a wheel alignment and that wanted to charge me for it. I spoke with whoever was in charge that day if they could explain to me why I had to pay for it if salesman at time of purchase told me that I had "bumper to bumper coverage" and if anything was wrong with vehicle just to bring it in and they would cover it. BUYERS BEWARE in the verbiage salesman's' use. Their explanation was that that is normal wear and tear but they agree not to charge me at that time. I even asked if there was any other reported issues with the Chevy Blazers and they said no. This brings me to todays Google Review and a rating of 1 (honestly I am being generous with a 1 star). I go and take the Blazer for another oil change and they do the inspection they normally do and Rep Edelmiro (I believe is his name) told me that the tire thread was wearing out more on one side than the other so I asked him if it was caused by the vehicle not being aligned and he said that that could cause it. So I asked to see if I could speak to Supervisor/Manager so they could explain to me why my vehicle was doing that. They wanted to quickly charge me and for me to go but asked to speak with Manager. They placed me in the manager's office and explained to him the issue that it was like the 2nd or 3rd time and I thought it was unfair and I should get an explanation on why my vehicle was doing that and he said that it was due to driving conditions of the road or driver's habits (all excuses) and I told him that I drive the same roads in my other vehicles and they are not experiencing the same issues. After technician had told me that there were issues with alignment (according to rep.) now Service Mgr. (I don't remember his name) tells me that he personally checked the vehicle and their is nothing wrong but the normal wear and tear of the tire but 20 minutes before the technician was recommending me getting new tires at only 35,000 miles? So I questioned Service Mgr again to explain and yes I did raise my voice because it is upsetting that we the clients pay and pay the recommended services/parts and they (Dealership) don't take responsibility and not Honoring the so called "bumper to bumper warranty" that they speak of on time of sale. Service Mgr said I am not going to go over this again you have to pay and I had to leave their premises. I NEVER refused to pay and I said that I just wanted an explanation and he said that he was not going to repeat himself. I told him that any reasonable client would question this and he stated that he was going to call to have me escorted off the premises so he called the Weslaco Police Department. The General Sales Manager showed up (Lady but don't remember her name) stepped into the office and introduced herself and said that she was there because I was screaming. I told her I was not screaming but did raised my voice because it was frustrating to have to go through this. She explained the whole thing about wheel alignment and road conditions, etc. and like I told her that it makes no sense because I drive my other vehicles in the same road and those vehicles are not having the issues of the alignment. 3 cops show up and are at the door and I told them I was not intimidated by them because I was not doing anything wrong just wanted explanations on why my vehicle was doing what it was doing. All and all the worse client service experience of my life. I offered to pay for the oil change and tire rotation but General Sales Mgr refused to accept my payment. Where do I begin? The overall impression I received from the place is that these people are here to serve. From the timely callbacks to the quick responses, both were more than satisfying. The place smelled like all dealerships should....like money. If and when I decide to purchase a new vehicle, I would like Payne Auto Group to be the ones to make me bend over, bite my pillow and revel in the joy of getting f#%£ oh so gently as I sign a new buyers contract. Terrible service purchased 2019 Denali. The differential is messed up leaking. 3 weeks of trying to get it serviced, minimum of 13 we'll call you backs from our sales guy Joseph and service. 3 weeks of being patient and courteous. Now Monday the 17th call them again Janie in appts for service apologies and says it was my mistake I forgot to set the appt they sent the parts back. We'll have them tomorrow Tuesday, I'll call you Tuesday to schedule a Wednesday morning service on your truck. She went as far as to transfer me to my sales guy Joseph who gave me a bunch of what was clearly nonsense because he hasn't really been trying to help for 3 weeks. Literally just lying trying to de-escalate. Frustrating because you can hear the lack of actual care in the nonsense. Not even really knowing whats going on. Still trying to be cool and accept what he says because ultimately i just want to get it fixed and be done. I say okay we'll wait for Janie's call on Tuesday to schedule Wed appt. He even tried to get me to take the truck Wednesday morning. I said but we need to confirm as Janie said that the part is actually here, she said she would call me either way. (I can't take another day off to go and just be told we're going to call you if the part is not there.) Well here we on on Thursday now 4 weeks later and Janie didn't call me all week with my appt. I call her and she right away becomes defensive and tells me well obviously if I haven't called you its because it's not here. I tell her you assured me it would be here Tuesday and that if it was or wasn't you'd call me to let me know what was going on. Now she's being defensive and not helpful at all. Saying your sales guy was supposed to call you not me. Which is not what we spoke about at all. I ask to speak to her manager and she transfers me to the salesman Joseph. Who proceeds to try to fast talk me. I tell him that's enough excuses and that the customer service is really shi**y and I don't want to hear any more bul**hit. He goes deep into the i don't care how we failed you and i don't want to deal with this tone of voice and tells to watch my language. No empathy for what is now 4 weeks of trying to get help. No care what so ever. Very condescending. Not like when trying to make the sale. Btw when we were purchasing the truck he used foul language just cutting up trying to make the sale. No big deal. But now he is offended that we are frustrated with the lack of customer care. I'm concerned the vehicle we're in is not safe with it leaking fluid. They will not allow us to talk to the GM. I'm shocked they just transfer the call amongst each other when requesting a manager. You can feel the blatent disrespect. Joseph has this tacky way of fast talk like an old used car lot. No tact what so ever. Certainly not what I would expect from this kind of dealership. Very low-class service. Do not buy from this place because they want your money they want the sale but if you have any issues you are just a nuisance. I've been dealing with an issue on a new car since day 1 of purchase. I don't live nearby so the most practical way of communication is through a phone. Just getting through with someone and not an automated voicemail system is a challenge. Even if I leave a voicemail with a callback number, no one reaches back to me. My father is 72 and is a vulnerable adult. He has been diagnosed as a manic depressive by the Veterans Administration. He makes rash decisions on big purchases and this business has taken advantage of him in the past that he's deeply regretted. I spoke to the manager and told him that he should not buy this vehicle because of his disability. They cared more about selling the car to him. I tried calling back and asked to speak with my father, but they refused and then hung up on me after speaking with my attorney. I told them there was a law about taking advantage of vulnerable adults and that he has a disability and they not only refused to let me speak with my dad, but they sold him a car. They violated the finance code Sec. 281.001 and exploited a vulnerable adult, as well as HB 3921, chapter 280 of the Texas Finance Code and the new Article 581, Section 45. The manager on the bill of sale was Victor Mendieta and the salesperson was Oscar Benavides. read more

This dealer would get A++ grades from me, but they consistently fail to greet customers upon arrival at their service area. A "Hi, welcome to Payne Chevrolet. We'll be right with you." would go a long way. On my latest visit, a male and a female advisor clearly saw me after I walked in. Neither were too busy to greet me. Went in to the dealership to try to purchase a vehicle only to confront salesman that was pushy and the finance person would not disclose details about about the vehicle cost. Integrity with major flaws and felt as if i was about to get financially assaulted. This concerns the purchase of a 2011 Chevy Colorado on May 30, 2012. The purchase price was $22,000.68 according to my check book. I was not provided any receipt reflecting a breakdown of the price. Payne Motor Co. was advertising a promotion where if a party brought in a receipt they would be given a $25.00 Wal-Mart gift card. I printed the receipt the Payne web site and presented it to Mr. George Gonzales during the purchase negotiation. He replied they would give me a different card so I could spend it at Padre Island. He may have produced the card but he did not give it to me. I relied greatly on information provided about the vehicle on the Payne web site which provided under vehicle comments the vehicle could not be distinguished from new. Nestor Rodriguez contacted me by phone and answered a number of questions including one about remote power door locks. He confirmed the vehicle was so equipped. I specifically asked Mr. Gonzalez about this issue and his answer was fuzzy at best. ( He indicated to me they must be around.) Later, after the purchase papers were signed but before delivery he said "No remote operators, only one key, to bad. It's a used car. I pointed to the information provided on the web site (could not tell it from new and the confirmation by Mr. Rodriguez.) . Mr. Gonzalez then produced one remote operator and one key. When I persisted he was able to find two bringing that portion to the "as new" as advertised. After delivery I discovered all of the tire changing tools including the jack were missing. I advised the dealer of this on 6/2/12 but they did not respond. Later, a young lady called from Payne and asked about the sales process. I told her of the shortcomings and she seemed genuinely surprised. She said she had taken notes and would give them to the proper people. Yesterday, a lady called and said the license plates were ready and indicated I could pick them up at the Payne Service Department. I did so. The plates were there, along with the registration, and a gift card from Valero. I will presume this is the 1000 miles of gas promised. There was no $25.00 gift card, no copies of the sales papers, nothing indicating any of the promised free oil changes, and no receipt. Clearly, the young lady delivering the license packet knew nothing of the other issues so I just took the package and came home only discovering the Valero Card when installing the plates. Payne Motors Weslaco, The Half Ass Dealer. I purchased a 2015 Jeep Cherokee Sport for $19,900.00 at Covert Motors in Austin (512) 583 3411 - last October. It was much less than I could find in the RGV. I also got a $500,00 military discount when I asked about it and provided my Active Duty Military I.D. Cost of the car was $19,400.00 plus TTL. Payne Motors - $22,599.00 (yea big sale event) Burns Motors $21,995.00 Same same car, same package, Do your homework and shop on line. Take a comparable competitive price with you and show it to a RGV dealer. They will back out like a crawdad. You can save good money if you buy out of the Valley because the dealers here will not compete. Payne Motors was the worst to deal with. They lie to get you to come to their car lot. Once in the lobby they tell you the car you called about was sold but they have another to show you at more cost. Their 'bate and switch' car stayed on their web site for several weeks after this event. They do this in the lobby because the cowards cant do it outside because they need have several witnesses in case you punch one of the jack asses in the mouth for deceiving you. I'm going to be as transparent as possible when writing this review. It has taken me almost two years to write what I am about to write, so there's a lot to say but I'll get down to it. Payne Weslaco Motors sucks, simply put. Their customer service is mediocre. The wait time is ridiculous. Everything about that place is.... selfish. I had bought a Fiat 500x last February from Payne. First thing, they sent me off with no gas whatsoever in the vehicle. At almost any dealership you go to, they will give you a full tank of gas complementary. Second, I had a part in my car that needed to be replaced and they replaced it with the wrong part. This part took months to come in just for it to be wrong. So I had to get that one replaced and it took almost a year to get the right part. Because of the wait, I was granted free oil changes for a year. Today I went to redeem one of those oil changes and they knew nothing of it. They told me that there was nothing they could do about it and were going to actually let me pay for it. No one even tried talking to someone else to see if they could help me, they simply said "there's nothing we can do." Complete lack of proper customer service from this place, and I've been dealing with it for a year. And I know I'm not the only one. Not to mention that whenever I call, I get transferred from line to line to line just to end up with a voicemail. Pathetic. I would highly recommend that if you want to buy a car, go somewhere else. Kicking myself for switching to Payne. They applied me and my husband for 7 loans or more each without our permission! I would never have agreed to it at all. We went to try and apply for a mortgage and the hard credit inquires hurt us so bad this will delay our home buying. I called once I started getting the loan approval and denial letters in the mail because one after another they kept coming! I left messages and talked to the secretary.Every time I asked to talk to a person in charge I got put on hold and then to a machine. No one called me back so I contacted the bbb and go figure they didn't even respond to that! I am so upset and hurt and I feel scammed they obviously just care about getting their money ..I should have never traded in my car from Clark Chevy. They applied me for one loan I had no problems with them. Payne did this all behind my back and has been so unprofessional with me. I will tell everyone to avoid this company! Please go elsewhere! I went over, about a month ago to see the Ram R/T's they had in Stock. I test drove one but unfortunately the color options they had I did not like. I was advised by one of the managers that a Red on was in order and it should be here in about 3 days. I mentioned to the sales man that Burns Motors had a similar vehicle on their lot for about 32K, he advised don't worry about we'll price match. Two weeks pass and the truck finally arrived, test drove it, like it and advised the salesman let's move forward to financing. Okay so the trucks MSRP was give or take 39K I advised the gentleman from financing about the price I'd previously mentioned to the salesman. He instantaneously becomes defensive advising that they where already offering me a good discount. I then explained the fact that the only discount I saw was a manufacture incentive I've already new about. I advised the finance man I was not willing to pay 37K for something I could get for 32K. He then dropped the vehicle down to 36K and advised that's the lowest he had ever sold a R/T for. I asked if the dealer could provide me with a better discount once again he advised that was the lowest he could go. With prior knowledge from Truecar.com, I knew they could go lower but I did not want to push it. I advised the financeman that I would be checking prices else where in which he smirked and stated that I was going to get ripped off and charged an extremely high interest rate else where. I then went over to burns motors in McAllen and luckily they had a red R/T that had just arrived with the interior still wrapped in plastic. Absolutely terrible service. I hate these guys and will never shop here again. About two months in and already 3 bad experiences. First, when I bought my car, according to the salesman and sales manager, I got approved for a loan. I get a call about a week later telling me that I actually didn't get approved and was forced to go all the way back to Weslaco because the people here dropped the ball. How convenient for me (sarcasm). Second, the salesman (goes by nickname Joey if you're unfortunate enough to run into him) upon purchasing the car promised me two free gas refills. One on purchase day and the other whenever I returned to their facility. I decided to take his offer, asked him, he played dumb and said he never said such thing. He even had the nerve to ask me why I would think he would say that. Of course that made me very angry. Oh and I had two other witnesses there who will corroborate his promise, so I am definitely not mistaken. And he also sold me a car that had horrible wheel alignment, rips on the seats, and very noticeable scratches on the paint. Didn't mention any of them. The wheel alignment helps me move on to the third incident. Third, I took my car in to get an oil change and was surprised when they said all four of my wheels were in dire need of alignment. A trip where I wasn't supposed to pay nothing ended up costing me $75 because the wheel alignment was in bad shape and their salesman didn't mention this upon purchasing the car. Fine, I payed the money and did it with no complaints. I just took the hit. I was told it would take about 1 hour and 45 minutes. 5+ hours later and no notifications. I had to be the one calling because they refused to let me know what was happening. They refused to return any calls and they refused to let me speak with the manager. I needed a ride and since they provide that service to their clients, I used it. At the end of the day when it was time for me to get picked up, of course I had to call them, they tell me that they have no drivers. Left all alone with no ride and car since of course they were servicing it. This of course is a major inconvenience. I had to look like a beggar to get a ride home. Ask them if they cared. Incidents 2 and 3 were also heated. Both people who I spoke to gave me attitude so I certainly gave it back. Didn't say anything offensive though, although I feel like I should have. Overall my experience so far has been unacceptable and absolutely ridiculous. I shouldn't have to be getting lied to, left with no car or ride, and be given attitude. All my attempts to reach a manager have failed. Called, sent email, text, nothing. No wonder they have such terrible employees, the managers themselves are worthless. I advise you to shop somewhere else if at all possible. If I could return my car I definitely would. These guys are just such a pain to deal with and I cringe every time I see their facility. read more

I arrived at 6:50 in the service department I called before I came and was told to come in I mentioned that my battery was drained and that I was 5 to 10 minutes away so I came when I arrived I was refused service because the technicians supposedly leave at 5:30 I arrived at 6:50 all I wanted was for them to check if my battery was good or bad and if bad of course exchange for a new one I didn't want them to check anything else the guy behind the desk said ( I didn't get his name, there was man and a lady there closing ) The Guy said that there was nothing that he could do they cannot check my battery and for me not to turn off my car because there's no way for them to jumpstart the vehicle he said the technicians leave at 5:30 and even if I would've arrived earlier it would be impossible for them to have check my battery and tell me what's wrong with my car before 7 o'clock (NOT only do they have to check the battery but also the STARTER-ALTERNATOR & 1 more thing, can't remember) Which is the time that they are out the door I also mentioned that I'm on my way to Houston which is where we relocated it's and I told him I will not risk driving my car like this if I was to drive all the way over there which is what he asked me to do I WOULD PROBABLY STAY STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE given that I have five children I am not going to do that he also mentioned that if by any chance I turn off the car along the road and if I do stay stranded all I have to do is call roadside assistance and they'll come and give me a jump start that doesn't sound very professional it's late at night I'm so sure in the middle of nowhere I'm going to stay park waiting for roadside assistance you need to have a meeting with your employees I dislike coming to Payne in Weslaco TX most of their employees are rude and not helpful and every time that I come for service I'm here 2 1/2+ hours it's A horrible experience every single time!!! the Only reason I came here today is because my husband purchased the battery and is warranted here if not I'd go elsewhere I have had many many bad experiences with Payne Chevrolet Weslaco tx location I do not intend on ever coming back here I will take my business elsewhere for the record never have I came this late for service my first reaction was get it taken care of asap so my kids can make it to school tomorrow morning!!!! read more

I took my vehicle to Payne because I was getting some error messages. One of the technicians asked me how many miles my vehicle had so I told him around 6,500 which was very close to the actual miles. He then told me ok, we will look into it. We will call you. He did call me after 2 hours or so. He told me a wire sensor had been damaged and said it would cost me $150 for the part and $492 for part and service. I wasn't ready for that expense so I told him that I couldn't yet. Then he wanted to charge me $125 for just having his guys just look at my vehicle. I was shocked and asked him why he didn't disclose to me there would be a charge for just looking at it. He said sometimes people make mistakes but I was responsible for paying the check. After talking for awhile, he rudely said not to pay and was huffing and puffing. How can they just want to charge me $125 without my approval?? I'm in disbelief. read more
