After my puppy destroyed my glasses I needed a new pair asap! We have insurance but they would only let us go to a corporate business, I am new to Dallas, looked for reviews and found this shop. I went to the corporate business and to Payrite Optical, we got such a good deal and service that I decided to forgo the insurance and get my glasses here, The shop does not look very promising from the outside, but don't let that fool you! Inside you will find the coolest selection of frames, from conservative to absolutely wacky to designer. I am over the moon with my new glasses, they fit, they are very pretty, they happen to be an expensive designer brand, but I paid no more than usual. My lenses, which are ''challenging'' and which have always taken something like three weeks, were there in 7 days and I could pick up my glasses at the end of the day. Armand is a great guy to get glasses from. I've been doing business with him for a number of years. He's very honest, carries an amazing range of frames for such a small store, and will work with you on the price if necessary. He's picky in his selection, and he's got everything from mundane but nice frames, to expensive exotic designer frames made of wood, and others that are impractically stylish. I guess that's how he pays for his reasonable prices on other services. He hand crafts the lenses to fit, and he can fit any frame even if it's something you bought somewhere else. He also will advise on whether it's feasible or not, since some frames are not meant for the thickness of lenses you might need for really poor eyesight, like -6 diopters for example. He can also make custom polarized non-prescription glasses. If you find some frames you like but they aren't polarized, take them to him and he'll fit some polarized material into them. read more

This place is amazing. I recently needed glasses asap and used Yelp's suggestion of Payrite Optical as my first stop. The guy in the store was super helpful and nice (I spent about an hour trying on different glasses) and the store carries what must be on the order of 5,000 different frames (some of those being different colors of the same style). There is a wide variety in frame cost too, so you can spend $100 or $700, up to you. As noted by other reviewers, there are deals to be had here. I got my frames and lenses for $249, and the frames themselves were listed as being $298. He had the glasses ready for me in 30 minutes. THIRTY MINUTES! So, I bought a couple of pairs of designer frames online and when I received them, loved them! Only problem was, with the Dallas heat, my face would sweat and bam! My glasses would slip down my nose, not to mention my lashes would brush up against the lenses. Payrite is right behind the building I work at so I decided to give them a call to see if they even added nose pads (many optometrists do not offer the service). The gentleman I spoke with said they did and it would cost $50. Well, it was worth every penny! The service was fast and the gentlemen who work there are pretty knowledgable. I've been buying frames and lenses at Payrite Optical from Arman since about 1999-2000.... I have to wear glasses daily, so they are an investment, I tend to buy good frames and change them often like purses. When my prescription doesn't change, I buy new frames and lenses here. I've brought frames in that are 10+ years old, purchased here, and Arman always brings them forward in the prescription for me. He never pressures me to buy new or more expensive frames. He knows me as his customer. He sells quality product and the lenses are always perfect. I bought a pair of TryChange glasses from him about 14yrs ago, you can change the nose piece & handles on them... it's like switching out watch bands. I love these frames for dress up. Arman has brought them forward for me twice, they don't even make these changeable glasses anymore. One time I needed Arman to order a replacement magnetic sunglasses for some frames I had purchased from him. The frames were discontinued, and my favorites. He couldn't get just the sunglasses piece, but the kit was marked down so well that he bought 6 of the frames and sunglasses. I bought 3 pairs with sunglasses and had him put the lenses in for me. Armon is competitive and affordable in his pricing, even carrying exclusive frames by big designers. We moved to East Texas near Canton back in 2006.... We were in town and decided to stop in to see if they carried a rare frame by Prada. It is a small unassuming shop in a strip mall, but don't let that fool you. They have a large selection. Even though the frames I wanted were not in stock, Matiar was very sure he could help me find it. Two things about this experience. One, they know that there is heavy internet competition for designer frames, and so with that out in the open they are ready to give Internet pricing. At least that was my impression. Having bought the last 3 frames online, I was pleasantly surprised to get such a good deal. Secondly, they take customer service seriously. That is what really did it for me. He hunted down my frames and mailed them to me (since I live out of state). He seems to do a lot of business this way with many out of town, loyal customers. PAYRITE IS THE BEST. My husband and I have been going there for many years and have always been so pleased and impressed with the selection, prices and service. We live in Chicago now but we wait until we have a trip planned to Dallas to buy all our glasses. Even if we didn't already have a trip planned it would be worth it to fly in just to buy glasses there. I was back in Dallas this summer and got 4 pairs of glasses and Arman threw in an extra pair of my husband's favorite frames for not much more than what 2 pairs would have cost us in Chicago. Brought my broken Tiffany frames back to where I got them but was told they were not fixable and since my prescription was more than a year old, I would have to start all over. I went here because of the great reviews they received online and because several people around my neighborhood had raved about them. Armand was not there today, but Matt was and he was terrific, too. These guys are amazing. This is the first time in 30 years that I have walked into an eyeglass shop and not been left to my own devices to wade through a hundred thousand frames to try to find something that works for my eyes, hair, and face. Matt was plucking frames from the displays and handing them to me to try on, one after the other, and each one looked terrific. He then made me a great deal on the cost of the frames, and would have made me a better deal on two. But when I told him I couldn't afford a second pair, he instead offered to replace the scratched lenses on my original pair (the whole reason I needed new glasses) for free. If you agree with supporting local businesses, and especially want to be treated very, very well by people who are competent at what they do to boot, you absolutely should get your glasses done here. Not understanding the reviews at all!!! I went there this morning! ( 11-13-2014) Dude was over 10 minutes late! Told me he would make me a deal. Then when I asked about a pair of glasses,he told me he could make me a deal. The regular price for the frame's are $498.00 ! (Just the frames) I told him never mind he couldn't give them to me at a price I would like. He was like give me a chance. He finally said he could give me a pair of frame's for FREE! Free? Seriously? Something wrong there. He was even yelling at me as I was leaving his store. The guy that was there before me waited along time for info. Even told the guy he needed a better way of keeping his files. Would NOT go to this place ever again. Seems to me he like to see how much he can get out of each person. I went in to get a repair and they were more than helpful, fixed my glasses for me in about 5 minutes while I waited. They notified me that they might break a piece due to a bend in the metal before they attempted to do so, and ended up bending it right back into place. I just appreciated the fact they let me know they could potentially break my glasses before actually doing it. The owner was super friendly and knowledgeable. I ended up getting some great designer glasses and can see perfectly. They were ready in two days and the fit/vision is perfect.
