So basically, we were moving into a house in Santa Cruz County that needed some hard-core tree and bush removal so we could do a termite tenting before we moved in. We are on a tight timeline and wasn't even really sure what the best approach would be. Guadalupe was one of the three landscaper estimates we got and, though the estimate prices were comparable, we decided to go with him because we really liked him and his ideas. We also liked the fact that he mentioned he can arrange / help with much more than landscaping when we need extra help. That's was great to hear in a time where it's not easy to find reliable skilled crews. So... fast forward, he gave us an estimate and timeframe and stuck to it. He took notes on what we needed to help the house, how I wanted the trees trimmed, and offered suggestions (like when he thought I'd be unhappy with my results of severe trimming). Then the crew removed and/or trimmed trees, bushes, and even an old shed for us. We were able to meet the timeline of our termite tenting and end-of-month move in. Got an honest quote right up front from these guys and scheduled them for a grind. Super friendly, professional and punctual. Cut the remaining trunk down and ground down and was able to go 1'-1.5' deep in the soil so I can plant a more size-appropriate tree here. Our drip line was too close to the grind and got clipped but before I even saw it, they had capped it off after they blew the saw dust off the driveway. Call these folks first. You'll get some whacky quotes otherwise. Like one was for $350.

We went with 'Professional Play' for its perfect height and density designed to handle pets and frequent heavy traffic. He replaced 13 sprinklers which were operating at less than perfect efficiency and 20+ nozzles from top of sprinklers which were clogged, etc. Most importantly, Uriel located 3 major pipe leaks due to 8" roots growing through them. After several days, Adrian and an assistant came to mow the lawns. It was a rainy day! They stopped after mowing just the front. He said he would be back early the next week to finish the job; that is, to mow the back yard. I paid for the front yard. Lots of clumps of wet grass left all over the front, but it was short enough / good enough that I could maintain it myself from there. A few weeks later, my back a little better, and a little work on my own had the front yard looking fine. Here are the text message exchanges between AE and me with a month of trying to get him to finish the job. Exact text. I included only one of the pictures below. * May 1, 2023 AE: Ill be there tomorrow morning. Me: Very good.
