Cristian did a great work on fixing / replacing my leaking sprinkler valve with new manifold.

We were in the process of replacing and old fence with a neighbor however, when the property line was surveyed, the fence was built on their property. The old fence was coming down and a new fence in it's place BUT we had a concrete patio that was up against the old fence. We needed cut along the fence and removed that portion of the concrete to allow the building of the new fence. Cristian Mateos stepped up to the task of removing a portion of a concrete patio. He contacted us quickly then came to look at the task at hand, stated he could get it accomplished, gave us a reasonable bid and removed the portion of patio the very next day. Cristian was easy to deal with the very straightforward and direct to deal with. I can not thank him enough for taking this on for us and making it a fast and painless project on a tight deadline. Recommend his work

Cristian's team did a great job to help us clean up retaining wall, remove roots, plant hedge, and install irrigation! The team is very professional and efficient, highly recommend!

I have worked with Mateos off and on since 2003. So it was a "no brainer" who to use when I decided to fix up my old backyard that was literally just pavers and a crumbly retaining wall. His team worked within my budget and I couldn't be happier. Small yard, so work was done within a week. This is a team of very hard workers whose craftsmanship is beautiful. I am writing this as I sit out in my pergola on a cool morning enjoying my coffee. Please ignore back fence. Working with my kind neighbor to get it replaced.

I hired Cristian from Mateo's Landscaping on the 5 star reviews. At the beginning Cristian and his team communicated effectively. They did a pretty good job on gardening. He said he'd help with yard etc. Over time communication degraded to poor. He often would not show up as promised. I had to ask multiple times for the same request. Cristian and his team did not show my trees, bushes and plants the care they needed. I asked him to do a fence job and now the nails are coming loose in some areas. Not good craftsmanship. The fence door fell apart. He did come back to fix that. They often left the gate open and my dog had gotten out. The last straw was when his team cut trees in my yard and left a pile of debris blocking my route to exit. I tried to move around it and now I have small scratches on my car due to it. I called and texted and he took hours to get back to me. Blamed it on another job he was working at. He blamed his crew and said they left it there without his Knowledge. Then when I shared with him I was deducting money due to big inconvenience he said he was not going to move it. He brought in his family etc. Too much of a headache. His team finally removed it 2 days later. He demanded full payment yet his team only trimmed half of the trees. Cristian and his team are not reliable at times. They are unprofessional. Very poor communication. The money spent not worth the work they did. Charged me a lot over the years. They are a mow and blow service from my time having them as a gardener. I often felt like I should find another gardener. Be careful in hiring them. Be careful.

Highly recommend Mateo and his crew. They're efficient, thorough, very timely with responding!

Mateos Landscaping, here's a rundown of our experience with this company. Me and my wife bought a home with a nice big backyard. Unfortunately the backyard was full of lava rocks, roses, randomly placed plants, and an absurd amount of rocks piled into a huge mound. We also have young children and pets but with the random amount of things in our backyard, the kids and animals could never utilize the backyard since it wasn't kid and animal friendly. So in comes Mateos Landscaping with Cristian and his crew to our rescue. After a quick measurement of our backyard, swapping ideas back and forth, they quickly gathered their crew and got to work. When they said they can get everything done in 2 weeks they weren't bullshitting us. These guys are quick, in 2 weeks they were able to demo and remove everything from the backyard, lay down new pavers, concrete steps, artificial grass, run new irrigation lines and electrical lines, build a custom playhouse for the kids, and setup a pergola for us. We were truly impressed with how quick and efficient they got it all done! Cristian kept us informed through out the whole process and made sure to let us know what was being done and any issues they ran into. We did however request that they did not plant any trees, shrubs, bushes, or flowers, which is why the pictures I posted of their work looks so bare bones. I particularly love gardening so I will be personally planting all the trees, plants, and flowers we want in our backyard. Overall, Mateos Landscaping did a great job on our backyard and when the time comes we will most likely have them come back and work on our front yard too. The only piece of advice I would suggest to any homeowner whos having a total yard makeover is to "trust the process". There were many times where me and my wife would inspect their work at the end of the day and question "Why did they do that?" "That doesn't look right" "That's not what we envisioned" Only to have them come back and change exactly what we were concerned with, without us saying anything. So "trust the process" these guys know what they're doing.

Front yard leveled with artificial turf installed. They also installed a great rock wall to create a tiered affect.

I spoke with a friend about our experiences at Johnson's, and we both agreed, it feels like walking into an old western saloon where everyone knows "you ain't from around these parts!" I was looking to buy a magnolia, but wanted to know what the differences were, which is better for our environment, so I approached an employee who tried to avoid eye contact with me until he could do it no longer. He started stammering when I asked if he knew anything about the trees I had considered contenders. He fumbled with his walky-talky to try to find someone else to help me, but spotted (who I found out later was the manager) watering plants in the vicinity. He asked her if she could help and she replied rudely with "WHAT?" as she clearly saw me (the customer) asking a question. He stammered nervously and she followed up with "What do you want?" I jumped in and asked my questions about which is best and she said, "They're all pretty much the same." I asked if any were better for our climate/environment and she said with an attitude, "We don't sell anything that doesn't grow around here." She then curtly turned away and went on with watering the plants. I did not feel copacetic with her "customer service," so I bought my tree and decided not to go back. I would rather go to an establishment with less selection, but better service. Also, the prices are on the higher side for some things, but reasonable for others, it just depends on what it is. Either way, Home Depot works for me from now on, and if they don't have what I want, I'll research somewhere other than Johnson's. It's a shame, too, because the place is like walking through a botanical garden, only the vibe given by the staff is that "it ain't big enough for the both of us!"

Beautiful quality, incredibly healthy, already nearly taller than the established shrubs, and very reasonably priced at $129. They helped load it, answered questions, and made the whole process easy. All I have left to do is widen the hole I already dug. You can see a dip in the existing row from an earlier Photinia replacement several years ago from Costco. Love Costco but sometimes you don't want to wait. Thanks Chris!
