We have a small dog run in our front patio area that we really wanted to refresh after the rainy season. The woodchips we had we becoming more and more of an eyesore and the tree stumps started rotting due to all the rain and smelled horrible. Erik was able to come out on relatively short notice and we asked about pet proof turf and he was able to bring a couple samples for us to view. Even though some of the samples he brought were super lush, he suggested a shorter turf so it's easier to clean. His quote was super reasonable as well. We pretty much knew we wanted to hire him right after he left so we gave him a call and he was able to come out 2 days later to install the turf. His team arrived early and spent the entire day getting rid of the stumps, leveling out the dirt, adding composite, and installing the turf. He also added some rocks at the border near the fence so the entire area looks super cute. I left on a work trip and came back a week later so I didn't see it the day it was done but coming back to it made me so happy. It looks incredibly good. I can't help but admire it every time I'm out there and my dogs are super in love with it too. Erik was a good communicator from the beginning to the completion of the project. His company did many things right but I felt some issues were significant enough to warrant a three star rating. One of the things that sets a good company apart from a great company is how well they take care of their customers after the job is done and paid for; its called integrity. I had an issue with gaps between the pavers so I asked for more sand so I could fill them in myself. I texted Erik twice with no results. I ended up taking care of it myself. The corner of the steps had fallen off previously on its own; his employee said it was due to old glue. They reglued it and the corners failed again. I noticed that the overhang on the corners was way too long, less than one inch of the corners had any contact with the base. I'm not going to step on the corners or have any guests use these steps because I could be liable for any injuries. I feel they could have done a better job on the steps both in functionality and aesthetics. I suppose I'll have to call another company to do it right. I'm not happy. read more

I normally maintain my front yard myself, but this year required a major overhaul, and I was in over my head. The yard needed the lawn replaced; sprinklers and drip systems evaluated & repaired; shrubs planted; ground lighting system replaced; mulch applied to the empty areas; roots from my neighbor's tree removed; and tree maintenance for a tall palm. I took in-person estimates from three local landscaping companies, all of which had 5-star ratings on Yelp!. While sizing up the work for their estimates, Garden Bros (Erik) stood way out from the crowd with the amount of advice, attention to detail, personability, and practical guidance given. It made the decision easy. As a bonus, the Garden Bros estimate also came in the lowest; the most comprehensive; and most in alignment with my requests. They got to work quickly; they were accommodating to my schedule; and flexible about how I pay them. I thought for sure, the smooth-talking guy who showed up for the estimate would disappear when the real work started, and I would be stuck with a bunch of guys trying to cut corners and weren't on the same page with what I wanted. I was impressed to find Erik showed up every day working alongside everyone else; providing guidance to the team; making aesthetics decisions; and consulting with me throughout the job. The sod Erik used to replace the lawn wasn't cheap stock from the local hardware outlets either. He traveled to his supplier in Morgan Hill, where the lawn was cut fresh the same morning he installed it in my front yard. Erik went around double-checking the details for full functionality of every sprinkler, drip system, and ground light installed. The results came out great, and when the final bill came, it was right on target, even though the work and dump fees were more than he expected when wrote the estimate. Over the years I have been looking around for someone who did good work. and I have to say this time I have found the best garden/landscaping/construction company ever. Erik has done many projects for us: first he redid our lawn in the backyard (it looks amazing), and then he planted 4 fruit trees, cleaned up (junk and old plant removal) the entire perimeter of our backyard and placed a new irrigation system with privacy trees and ferns. This landscape company was referred to me by my long time hairstylist and I was amazingly shocked at the speed Erik and his team transformed my boring outdated backyard into a clean minimalist state while upgrading my puppy pee pad outdoors. We were happy about their work so we called him again to trim and top off 4 other trees this past Saturday. Again, they did an excellent and thorough job to our full satisfaction. Eric and his helper came out today to cut down the nuisance palm that was growing in our yard. It was about 30 ft and had many dead branches on it. Also had him trim the birch branches that were overhanging on our roof. Didn't want any big branches damaging the roof if they break in these storms.
