I am about to head over there right now to fix my sister's laptop for Christmas. My first experience with them was nothing short of excellent. I had shipped my desktop tower across states without issues, but UPS being a bunch of dickwads, had fucked up my heat sink. I didn't even realize it until my desktop kept shutting off. When I got on the phone with them, they said (literally), that it was most likely my fault that the clips on the sink broke since my packaging must not have been good enough. Now let me tell you, my desktop is my BABY. I KNOW it was wrapped tighter than (insert innuendo here). I had insurance on it to be safe, but it would have taken 2 weeks to a month for them to DECIDE if it was my fault (then ship it back without repairs OR pay them to fix it), or take responsibility (and ship it back to me, so I could repair it, THEN send them the bill for reimbursement). I said fuck it, I'll get it fixed myself. ANYWAY. Went to these guys. They tested it out, confirmed it was the heat sink. Said they could reattach the original sink if they had any clips laying around (but they usually had to order them separate from manufacturing). They cut me a sweet deal since the job literally took 10 minutes. Charged me 30 bucks for the service and a new heat sink. read more

I have no idea why this place has such good reviews. I went here with my laptop after my display died. It took them 2 weeks before I finally called them to check on the status ("Oh you didn't get my message?") No, I didn't. I came in to pick it up after they told me they couldn't repair it. She tried to charge me the $20 diagnostic fee without giving me a diagnosis. I asked what the diagnosis was and she mumbled something about the video card. I couldn't get a straight answer. They are very disorganized and don't really seem to know what they are doing. EDIT - Ended up sending my laptop to the manufacturer and they reported that the video card had a 'sticky substance' on it and needed replacing. Why was that so hard for them to diagnose? I expect they never even looked at the video card... read more

I have a Mac Book Pro from 2008 and there was a graphics card problem, and it was out of warranty a few years ago when I tried to fix it. I got a good deal on an ASUS laptop about a year ago...when I got it I couldn't believe how slow it was. It was practically unusable. No wonder I didn't pay that much for it :) After a quick google search I realized I could speed it up with a pretty affordable ($50) SSD card. I Youtubed some tutorials on how to install it but didn't feel confident doing it myself, or if I had even purchased the right SSD. I took it to the Geek Squad at Best Buy in Norwalk and they tried to charge me $200+ saying I needed this, that, a completely new operating system blah blah...this was wildly different to the simple fix I saw online, so I quickly looked up alternative computer shops and found PC Warehouse had great reviews. I spoke with Justin who was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and eager to help me fix my laptop. I dropped the laptop off on a Saturday and had it back by Monday. It is so fast now, better than new and I only paid $70. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. read more

I agree the couple are nice people. They may be okay for data recovery but that is pretty basic since all you need is the proper software for that. In general, they are horrible at diagnosing and fixing hardware issues. Example1: I brought a laptop to them years ago with a problem where the a/c wasn't working. When I picked it up, she showed me that it powered on before I brought it home so apparently they fixed that issue. Unknowingly, I never thought to try the USB next to it. Months later, when I pulled the laptop out of the bag and tried plugging a device via the USB, I realized that they must have damaged this as it had been working fine before the other issue. Unfortunately, I lost my receipt and had no recourse. Example2: Two weeks ago, I brought my daughter's laptop in because her Ethernet adapter wasn't connecting via hardwire. They took my diagnostic fee of $20 and called the next day to say I should pick it up and that there was no problem. It was working just fine. I asked her to show me there by plugging it into a hardwire but she insisted to me that it was tested. I took it home and found that the unit still didn't connect to Internet via hardwire. There was no way that they tested it and my son tried to help me troubleshoot the laptop. We finally determined, ourselves, that there must be a problem with the motherboard. Sure enough, we were right! This computer repair place should have figured this out since this is what they are in the business to do. BEWARE! read more

Extremely happy. The folks here couldn't have been nicer and I will gladly recommend them for computer repair. The BIOS in my laptop completely shut down my system due to a problem with the fan. They told me how they would go about fixing it, giving me prices for different contingencies. 3 days later it was repaired for exactly the low end of their estimated price. My computer received a blue screen with disk errors and said it was checking drives then turned off. I tried powering it back on but it would just keep on shutting off after about 3 seconds. Now i have not backed up my files in 4 months and needed them all desparatley. I have a complete trust issue with anybody touching my copmuter or even having it in their possesion to work on. So i went to YELP to see who had the most reviews and higherst rating and there are only a few places like PC Warehouse of Stamford who have a high rating. I have seen them for years on High Ridge so i knew that they have to be doing something right to stay in business. I have built many desk top computers in my life and tried to fix this DELL XPS myself but to no avail i could not. I dropped off my computer and was greeted by Margo who works there and she explained it is a $20 Diagnostic Fee if they can not fix it. So i gave it to her and they said they will call me. I checked in after a few days and they said it was over heating and they took it apart and cleaned it and put it back together and it is running but they would like it for another 24 hours to run heavy duty programs to try and over heat it and make it crash. The next day i called them and said that i have been having some other serious issues with going to my banks website and other secutiy sensitive websites and asked them to look into this, they said they would have their head tech Justin work on these issues ASAP. Justin found that i was missing some security certifiactes that prevent me from accessing those websites and said he could reinstall them without doing a complete New Windows 7 Install. Justin fixed my laptop and now it runs very stable for $100, he had for a total of 7 days and went over my laptop with a fine tooth comb and certified that it is a 100% again. I was so worried that i would have to pay for a new hard drive and loose all my files and Justin gave me what i hoped for "A Reputable Go To PC Tech that is very Trust Worthy" that charged me for what work he did and not a dime more. I visited this morning with a small laptop. I am done with it, and wanted to erase sensitive customer information. However, the screen will not turn on. The gentleman there was very polite and helpful. He suggested that instead of paying anything, I just remove the hard drive and then I can recycle the computer with the town. In fact, he took a few minutes to remove the drive for me, because it needed a special screwdriver I doubt I have at home. I cannot attest to their costs or speed at which they provide service, but I was impressed that he was honest and took care of this quick fix. Thank you! read more

I took my wife's iPhone 5 to get broken screen replaced. Initially they didn't have a replacement part and ordered one from somewhere but it turned out to be cheap and defective. Screen could become unresponsive. Then they replaced that defective screen with new one that worked but recently I discovered that half of screws were lost during repair! I couldn't loose them myself since they are internal or some kind of special bit that makes it impossible to unscrew by regular driver. Also home button started rotating and falling out lately after the repair. I'm disappointed. read more

I needed my Gateway desktop fixed after Windows Vista crashed and didn't boot up. I am computer savvy but needed someone with more experience to do the job for me. They told me they would call me to tell me what was wrong and give me a quote. They never called, I had to call them to find out the status. Didn't give give me any updates whatsoever, expect when they called me to tell me how much they wanted to rip off me.They took an entire week to "repair." According to them they had to wipe out the hard drive and re-install Windows factory-fresh. I had to make a second trip back to their store to drop off MY external hard drive so they could back up my files before wiping the disk clean. I dropped the pc off on Monday morning, the lady said (after having to call them for answers) it should be ready by Saturday. Promise broken, never called Saturday to explain why, I had to again call Monday (closed on Sundays) and finally got the pc back. It was a crappy job because it took way too long for such a relatively simple procedure: erasing all my files and re-installing Windows. Now I have to re-install every single program and copy every single file back MYSELF, when all I wanted was to pay someone for the headache. Thanks PC Warehouse, now I have two headaches: money bad spent + computer work. I would not recommend them to aynone, you're better off asking the teen next door to take a look at it and possibly fixing it on-site than wasting your money at this store. read more
