I took my kids here for haircuts and was really pleased with the price and the result! Kids haircut range between $14-18, based on the level of the student doing the haircut. This is a very reasonable price considering they wash, cut, and style the hair. The only thing I didn't like was that parents can't sit anywhere near your children while they are getting a haircut, they make you wait in the waiting room. I understand why they do it because their haircutting floor is very crowded. I'm just glad my kids don't get upset that they were back there without me. read more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE Service. I got a simple blowout for $31. They told me it would take an hour. I had prom that day. I took them an hour and an extra 50 minutes on top of that. The stage 3 student, Julia, kept repeating how my hair is too thick. Yet, at any other place I have never faced an issue. Even when i'd get much cheaper blowouts at this local salon before I moved here from NYC. On top of this, Julia was extremely rude. I told her it's been more than an hour and she said it'll only take an hour. She looks at me point blank saying, "There's nothing I can do. This is a school." They had to bring in another lady to do the other half of my hair. When I went home, my blowout had been completely undone. I wish to get a refund to be honest. Please, mothers, other girls, do not go here. Just pay the big bucks and go to another place. Julia also kept inappropriately sharing about her personal life with me whilst washing my hair. Recently got notified by email of this change to pricing. It's my inner-standing that this is a school and preforming services on people is part of the education requirement. Adding a service fee to the service price is a price increase. The service fee for the particular service should be inclusive. I recommend people think and don't buy into this school's bs. Regular customers received an email on the morning of 8/10/26 informing us of a service based increase to pricing beginning that day. The "service fee" is a flat 17% increase. If you have a service that costs $51 your "service fee" will be and additional $8.67, and this does not include a tip for the student. I went to get lash extensions knowing that they typically last 2-3 weeks. I know this is a school so I wasn't expecting perfection. I was planning on getting them done for spring break so I didn't have to worry about doing mascara. Only four after having the service and following all of the directions for after care all of my lashes have fallen off. I went back to explain the situation and see what they would do to help. I was met with an incredibly rude instructor who began raising her voice at me for simply asking a question. I understand if I want a perfect service I would've gone to a high end salon, however I only needed them to last about 10 days and they did not hold up at all. Just know if something goes wrong they will not fix it. They will argue with you at why you should accept it and it's a very uncomfortable situation for a client. The student was kind and I know they are students learning, but the instructor needed to learn grace and how to deal kindly with customers. Attending PCI was quite a nightmare. It was all focused on making money for the company. There were several times that I went home crying from the treatment there. Very catty also. As far as the services themselves, you can expect to wait quite awhile. They typically have pretty good deals running on their products though. There's a very small list of things I would return for. I would like to say that things didn't start this way. They were great when. I first started school there. Then things began to become stricter and stricter to the point where I was uncomfortable even attending school. read more

I went there and was greeted by a wonderful student named Peace Brown. I have curly hair like the old Taylor swift and a teacher named cerryl or sheryl came over for a consultation and said to me "when is the last time you brushed your hair? You have so many knots" it was the rudest most unprofessional thing someone in a hair salon has said to me. I have curly hair. Regardless if I brushed it that morning or 3 days ago there are going to be knots. She acted like she had never handled curly hair before. The student handled me very well and my hair turned out great. She even said she did her research on a shadow root the night before and was overly prepared. I will definitely be going back to peace! Very disappointed in my experience. I had booked a facial for 9:15am and was promised that it would be finished by 10:30am, at the latest. However, I waited for 15 minutes to be seated, than another 20 minutes until my facial began, resulting in my service not being finished until 10:55am and making me late for work. The person who did my facial was amazing, but the environment was not. I was attempting to listen to the quiet music and take in the peaceful ambiance, but could only hear two other stylists gossiping for my entire facial. They were talking about very inappropriate topics and loudly for all to hear. I was disappointed as I could not relax and enjoy my service. My daughter went to PCI in Plymouth, MN to get an up-do for prom on May 4. We certainly did not expect a salon experience, but we expected to get an up-do. We have been to beauty schools before for services in other states, and the work has been very good. This was NOT the case at PCI. She had photos on her phone of what she wanted, and I can tell you that it was not all that elaborate. Well at about an hour in, all she had done was basic curls with a curling iron. The instructor came over, but that did not seem to be going anywhere. We decided at about 1 hour 15 minutes to end things so we could go home and her sister and I could fix her hair as we were running out of time. This "up-do" cost me $33. I could not believe it. Literally her 12 year old sister could have done a better job in less time. I hate to be negative and nasty, but that is the truth. We were both frustrated and left, because we needed to fix her hair before prom. On the way home, I called the salon to complain. No remedy for the situation, other than I should have complained at the salon before we left. I guess the silver lining in this is my daughter only got a style not a cut or color!!! read more

This is the first time I've been to PCI Academy, I got an excellent hair cut by Rebecca. When I booked my appointment online I was assigned to another stylist, but she was running behind, because I checked first available when booking, Rebecca was able to get me in right away. I showed her a photo of what I wanted and a couple photos of what I DIDN'T want. She asked a few questions about my hair routine and life style then got her instructor before proceeding to the next step. He looked at my inspiration photo and they talked about how she was going to go about achieving the style. I found this process very interesting, I had never been to a cosmetology school before. After a shampooing and conditioning, which took WAY longer than it should, I was starting to feel a little dizzy from laying back so long, we went back to her chair. Her instructor showed her how to section my hair and he showed her how to proceed. He did one side, then she did the other, section by section. He did a final check of her work then she added some styling products, she talked briefly about the products she was using then did some finger twists before diffusing my hair. I don't style my hair this way, or use the type of products that were used, And she didnt have a clue how to properly diffuse curly hair So I couldn't wait to get home and style it "my way" But I must say this is one of the best hair cuts I've had. Overall my experience at PCI was a vey positive one. I will definitely go back! Rebecca if you see this review, I would recommend watching a few YouTube tutorials on styling curly hair. Lovely place to get a haircut. I've gotten my hair cut at PCI academy twice now and I've enjoyed my experience each time. My trainee, Mary, was very kind and did everything I asked for. Shes amazing at hair and ACTUALLY cuts what you ask her to cut, no more. The prices are great and with $10 you even get your hair washed. Great place to cheat on your hair stylist, lol! I went to visit with my sister in considering attending the school for their nail tech program. All of our questions were answered and we both truly loved it. When we decided to also get shellac manicure they unexpectedly put it on the house because we had stopped in and considered attending. Very unprofessional place!!! My credit card was charged twice for services, and 4 weeks later I still have not been refunded my money!! I've talked to two different managers a total of 5 times, they took my information and said that would get back to me...still nothing! So, I went to the school and demanded to a manger, she was smelt like cigarettes and was no help! All she did was give me the number to the credit card who charged my card twice and told me to call them directly now. She stayed that they are no longer with the company anymore due to that mishap. Went here to get eyelash extensions because it was cheep and it was my first time with extensions. HUGE mistake. Once I was greeted by the girl, she brought me into the eyelash room and had me lay on the bed which is at more of an upside down slant than those dentist chairs.. all the blood ran right to my head. My appointment started at 3, I left PCI at 10 PM AFTER THE SCHOOL WAS CLOSED. During my appointment, at least four other girls came and went after also getting their first full last set with other aestheticians. During my 7 hours in hell, I listened to all the stylists complain about how bad PCI is and how they substitute face masks with water when a customer asks for one that they ran out of! Towards the end of my appointment, my stylist seemed to get really frustrated and took multiple breaks and huffing and puffing like it was my fault it was taking so long! Not one teacher offered to finish it off! After every other stylist left for the night, my eyelashes were finally done. The girl tried to hurry me out of there and I had to INSIST she let me sit on the bed for a moment and allow the blood to flow back into my body after being upside down for so long. I tipped a hefty $15 for the girls time and as I was running out the door the teacher chased after me and insisted she inspect my lashes so the student would get credit. I didn't get a glimpse of my new lashes until I got into the car and to no surprise, the lashes didn't nearly go to the end of my eye! Oh yeah, and I fainted the minute I got home because I had to go 7 hours without food, water, or a bathroom break. I now go to Amazing Lash Studio for nearly the same price and they can get more lashes in within 30 minutes than PCI could in 7 hours. DO NOT put yourself through this torture and DO NOT go here, I hear there are many other horror stories too. Ps. I was initially assured the appointment would take 3 hours or much less. I tried to leave during the appointment and the girl questioned me as to why I would want to leave early and what I needed to do that was more important!? I did not receive any kind of apology for the outrageous time it took and got no discount. Everyone that worked at PCI brushed off the time it took and pretended like nothing happened! I have been here 3 times now, and every time I have had the same girl do my hair, and always leave impressed. This school is VERY professional. When you make your appointment, got get a text reminder a day or two before your appointment which I love. You walk in and the hair stations are to the left, and nails/waxing to the right, and the check in desk in the middle. When you sit down with one of the students, you talk through what you are wanting, and a little background information. Then they have the teacher come through and consult with the student and you, and then the student gets to work. During the process everything is explained and verified with the teacher. I love going here! I always see Emily Torgerson! Wherever she ends up going will be my go to place but as far as the school itself, seems very professional and organized. The teachers are so nice. I've passed by the new PCI Academy building in Plymouth for the past several months. I've considered trying it out for many times, however the idea of having a student do my hair scares me. In a mailer I received recently I found a coupon thus working up the courage to call and make an appointment. I dialed 763-504-2772 (the number on he coupon). I received a message saying they're sorry but they are busy with clients and to call back again in 5 minutes. So I called back and kept calling back. After doing that for far too long, I decided to see what their hours were online so I go to the website. There's nothing with their hours on it. Only after coming here to submit a review do I find out they are closed on Sundays. I wouldn't do business with a company that is so disorganized that they can't even state that they are closed on Sundays on their message system. If I can offer PCI a bit of advice. Invest in making your website more user friendly. Have a SEPERATE website for students and customers. The site should not intermingle the two. Have an up to date message system. People should be able to hear the hours and immediately be able to determine whether the business is closed or not. Please update your system and maybe, just maybe, I'll work up the courage again to let a student work on my hair. Honestly, the latter isn't very likely. Remember, you only get one chance to make a first impression. read more

I was a customer for 11 years from the New Hope location and now at the Plymouth location. I've had great results and service but I won't be going back again. Mostly in the last couple of years I have had pedicures. They used to be amazing with details, art, good service, quality and satisfaction. I had a less than bad manicure from a nice woman who was unprepared, gave me the wrong price, the instructor is nice but didn't know what was included in a spa manicure, etc. She put not time into the massage, the smoothing callouses, didn't clip my nails and some of the polish was off in two days. I've been to schools before for services and always had a good experience so I decided to try PCI since I drive past it every day on my way home from work. I was very disappointed in the service I received and the unprofessionalism by everyone there. I arrived 5 minutes early for my appointment, the receptionist checked me in and said I was all set. While I was waiting in there uncomfortable waiting area I overrhead students talking about their plans to go out and get drunk that night. The waiting area seemed to be like an area for students to hang out and talk about inappropriate things. I waited 15 minutes before asking when I'd been seen. I was told they forgot to let the student know I was there. I went in for a manicure and pedicure and was hoping to get a certain color but they had a limited number of colors to choose from and nothing was close to what I wanted. The website said they had OPI polish but they only has Essie polish. Both the student and teacher seemed to think it was weird that I wanted to have a pedicure before the manicure, which is common practice at every other place I've been to. The techniques were something I've never seen before. The polish application was good but my cuticles and the few hang nails I had were not taken care of. I knew it would take longer to get a mani/pedi done at a school but I wasn't expecting it to take 2.5 hours. The student was nice and did her best with the tools she was given. I would not recommend anyone to go there because the techniques they use are questionable and you can get cheaper, faster and better services other places. read more

Wow. The students act like kids and some instructors chime in too. When I was there I was getting a massage n o. The other side of the curtain were 3 students oddly speqki.g and laughing as well as 2 instructors. I heard them say how another student was talking shit again n the instructor was talking as if she was a student wanting drama instead of a leader. They were talking about all partying together that night n the instructor was saying she may have to stay over s one of the students again n they laughed out loud. So yeah it really sucked as far as noise factor at a so called spa. The instructors r for the most part 2nd class, which then brings n alot of 2nd class students. There is absolutely alot of drama going on there and people w no filters. Kind of really un professional at the very least. My service was greatly the student tho, it wasn't her fault... but really got to me that a instructor could b so ignorant to another student doing a service, and how she talked about other students to students.
