Quality wasn't a huge factor, just something that had a cd drive, usb inputs, and wifi access. After talking to the employee for about 10 mins I decided on a refurbished laptop; $160 marked down $20. They had installed Windows 10. I get to my shop, and find that the laptop has a crack in the case, the wifi abilities are very short-range, and the battery is close to the end of its useful service life (the laptop itself was recommending a replacement soon). I can't complain too much because I only spent $160, but the bottom line is to not expect too much out of the "refurbished" laptops. Know why you need one in the first place. I may return for further business in the future. Again, friendly staff.

Not only did they not re-install the back plate of my PC case (leaving a giant hole in the back for dust to get in), but I later found out that the network adapter they gave me doesn't support Bluetooth, where as my old motherboard did, which I wasn't warned about... The price was UP THERE but probably fair, given that they replaced the whole motherboard, and while it took a long time, that was mostly due to them having to wait for the new motherboard to arrive. Still, the only reason I'm even willing to give two stars is the fact that it FUNCTIONS after they returned it. EDIT: Since yelp is annoying and doesn't let you(?) delete reviews. The bluetooth issue SEEMS to be an issue of my Windows install being borked, not at all Compu Computers' fault as far as I can tell. However, the entire situation was still incredibly annoying, so I can't bring my rating MUCH higher.

I went to Best Buy initially (I don't know why, maybe I was feeling particularly stupid and…read morethick-headed at the time) and was told that to repair a broken LCD on a 400 dollar laptop would cost...300 dollars. Also, they would have to mail it in to the repair center. I asked why it was so expensive, and the guy said "well, LCDs are really expensive, so the part alone is 200 dollars". I was thinking, ok, who the fuck falls for this crap from a pasty dickwad like this guy? Who would ever think an LCD screen was more than 80 bucks on amazon or ebay? This is why Best Buy is going out of business. The employees that work there are shit. The products are generally shit (unless you firmly deny geek squad protection, warranty protection, repair plans, 5 year soul sucking plans, etc), and honestly they operate on the assumption that Americans are stupid. Yo, Best Buy, we have wikipedia and google, man. Stop being so 1999. Anyway, I called up Charm City Networks, and they said "yeah the part is like 60-80 bucks, but you can buy it online and bring it in and we just charge for labor". They charged 100 bucks for labor(fair enough) and so I went in to see if it was just the LCD that had a problem. They checked the computer, fixed it within a day, and I picked it up the next day after lunch. It was as easy and painless as possible, and affordable as hell. The guys that work there are very nice and helpful, and generally will go out of their way to make sure you have a great customer experience. Everything in that last paragraph is the exact opposite of Best Buy...which is why I recommend these guys for any computer/laptop hardware repair work.

From start to finish, they were professional, punctual, and clearly took pride in their work. What really set them apart from the other four companies I got quotes from was their attention to detail -- they not only ran all the cabling cleanly, but also repaired and painted the drywall afterward, leaving everything spotless. My home posed some challenges since there's no traditional attic access, but they found a smart solution by cutting a discreet access point and installing a clean, removable panel that looks like part of the original design. They even went above and beyond by installing a drop-down TV mount in my living room since my fireplace mantel sits too high for comfortable viewing. The entire experience exceeded expectations, and I wouldn't hesitate to hire Trebor Tech again or recommend them to anyone looking for quality network or low-voltage work.
