I was looking for a black owned Beauty Supply and found PD&K Beauty Supply on Yelp. Definitely happy that I found them and went to the store to shop. The storefront seems small from the outside and I was pleasantly surprised when I went inside. The clerk at the front counter greeted me when I entered- which is always pleasant, and the store was fully stocked with a variety of name brands (hair and hair care products) that I love and trust. It seems as if lately when you go to the super mega hair stores they overwhelmingly have tons of cheap brand choices that make your hair itch and scalp break out. Originally purchased 4/25 exchanged 4/26 today is 4/27. Drove from Canton to purchase Eyelash Glue as well as a few other things. All of your glue is old sir remove from shelf please!!! This should be removed when they're old not until they're sold. I'm suppose to put this on my eye lids GTFOOH!!! I supported this business since the old location, will no longer. Old, defective products, disgusting attitude towards customers customers who are not happy with being sold old items. UPDATE: Revised Review this is the new glue that you squeezed and came up as mush not glue, when I asked for a smaller one because obviously I still was not satisfied I was asked why would I want a smaller when I paid for a bigger. The items here are a bit overpriced for the quality. I purchased a standing hair dryer close to $100 and unfortunately it doesn't get hot as advertised on the box and it's cheaply made. I voiced my concerns to the owner and his response was "Well it's outside of my purview and there's nothing I can do about it. I sell this brand to other stylists and no one has complained" No solutions, no alternatives, just a dismissive attitude. Finding a Black beauty supply store has been a thorn in my side since moving to Alpharetta from Los Angeles. Finally decided to look in the neighboring cities and found this GEM in Roswell. From the moment you walk in your greeted and made to feel welcomed. It's a family owned business and every single person was attentive and helpful. There's also two stylists in the back of the store which was a pleasant surprise because that's the other hard part of living in North ATLANTA - a shortage of decent braiding salons that care about edges. The cherry on top was that it's Black-owned which was also a really nice surprise considering I've only been accustomed to Asian owned stores that didn't always seem to want my business even though they were in the business of servicing primarily Black people. ‍ Great experience and I cannot wait to continue to support! read more

Worst beauty supply i've ever experienced in life. They sold me a defective ring light for 31.99, after owning it not even a full 24 hours, and when i came back not for a refund, but for a exchange, the owner, "pressley" insinuates i broke it, puts super glue on my item and breaks it even more where the light won't switch modes. I come back again to tell him the issue and he persists of "i cant take this what am i gonna do with this" very shady, non empathetic, and money hungry people. Then told me i could buy a "display" one which they don't sell u the boxed one , and says i have to pay 25$ literally 6 dollars less for a "brand new" one. Which it isnt brand new it is sitting out all day. If i could give this place 0 stars i would. I will never shop here again and wouldn't advise anyone else too. read more

I, too, live in Alpharetta and unfortunately, it's not a city that has the beauty products that I need. So, I took a drive down 400 to Holcomb Bridge to PD &K and boy was I so happy that I did! When I compared their prices to Amazon, I realized that I was in the right place. The staff greeted me upon entering the store and they had everything that I asked for. Been a patron of this black owned hair store for 7-8 yrs now. Family business,they keep the place stocked and prices reasonable. Good perk is if your looking for an item or if your items is not stocked due to selling out the owners (work in the store and their adult kids as well) will order it and/or let you know when its onsite. Supporting local black own businesses in Roswell is very important to me. This is the only black owned hair store in the area. Having that one on one relationship with a business these days is priceless. This family welcomes every patron and always offer assistance as needed. They also sell black hair care products you may not find at other establishments. They have a hair stylist and braider on-site as well. That actually provide beauty services in the back hair salon area, which is convenient as you have hair products right on-site. I recommend the stylist as I've used her services quite a few times for sew ins, quick weaves and crochet styles.. read more

I returned today and the space is much bigger, they had a wide assortment of products and the staff was very pleasant and helpful! The customer service is awful. I asked one of their reps a question about their products, and he answered in a rude and condescending manner (as if I was supposed to know the answer). NEEDS A BIT OF DE-CLUTTERING AND ORGANIZING! I specifically visited this location because I was looking to consult a bit regarding what I needed. As we entered the building, I was immediately asked if I needed assistance. The employee approached me and assisted me throughout my visit. The personal service here was really appreciated. Unfortunately, the location of this store is not the best, it is located in a dying center at the corner of Holcomb Bridge and Highway 9. You will need to go to the south side of the building, facing Highway 9 to actually find the shop. The store is very small and cluttered and could also benefit from a good cleaning. The lighting was very poor and when you are looking at items and trying to determine accurate color, appropriate lighting is needed. The leggings hanging from the ceiling were not a good look and just need to be removed. Although I appreciated the service today, I can't imagine returning to this store because I really appreciate clean, open and well organized spaces. I also prefer to not shop desolated shopping areas and businesses that have full bars on their windows and doors. ***12/8/2016 I recently purchased a dome bun just to be able to put my hair up on occasion. When I went to put the bun on tonight, I noticed that it was cheaply made and that the form was not adequately covered. I was able to camouflage it with a scarf since I did not have other options. Remember that I mentioned how dark the store is so just be very careful and examine all items carefully. The rating was adjusted to reflect this latest discovery. Not recommended. read more

So happy there is a Black Owned Beauty Supply Store in the Alpharetta/Roswell area. I have shopped there on occasion in the past but now, this will be my spot to buy my beauty supplies. We have to support each other. The male owner was very helpful in helping me locate what I was looking for. He's trying to find the other product I need which is great. Thank you. I even purchased 2 sets of leggings which I didn't think I could find my size but he found 2 for me! Perfect! I will shop here and refer all of my friends of color. read more

So I wanted to avoid having to write a negative review, but I just feel like people need to know. So I have gone to this PD&K about 10 times now. I'm trying to support the local BB's. Why must they insist upon not having stuff every single time I go in there? I buy the same crochet hair when I go in. I will buy 20 bags of it when they have it because it's hit or miss that they'll have what I am looking for. I also wised up and started calling before I schlep all the way over there to see if they have my stuff. At one point the male owner decided to go pick up the hair I wanted and had me come back later on that day. That was fine. However, today was the final straw. I called and said "I'm the lady that buys 20+ bags of hair at a time. Do you have the hair I usually buy?" He proceeded to tell me he did not have it but told me all the other colors he did have. How long have you been working with black women? We don't have time to substitute products. We like what we like and we want what we want especially when I comes to our hair. So I will not be going back. I cannot continue to support a business who cannot seem to keep stuff in stock. read more

Everytime I go to this place, the person who is "manning" the store is always on the cell phone and not paying attention to customers. To be the only black hair care store in Alpharetta, you would think that they would pay closer attention to their customers....and say things like "do you need help finding something", how can I help, or just a simple hello would be sufficient...shame...guess I will continue giving my money to Sally's across the street. read more
