I hired Jim to repair a crack and water damage in our ceiling as well as patch the sheetrock where baseboards had been removed. He was able to match the texturing perfectly. Took a little longer then we wanted for the written estimate, but it was during the holidays. Was able to schedule him and his crew to come on out to remove our popcorn ceilings. Although it took a while to get the project organized due to my schedule, he came and delivered on the exact specifications and finished the walls to match spray texture one side and slip trowel on inside of the doorway and other side of the wall. We bought a new place and were seeking opinions and quotes on the wall texturing. Our preference was smooth, but given various factors, almost every one that came out to see the house suggested that we opt for old world (imperfect). Jim Pena's crew did an outstanding job of removing our popcorn ceilings and replacing them with beautifully textured and bright white glowing ceilings. It adds so much to the look and depth of our rooms. Because we had postponed this project until after we'd lived in our home for 9 years, the crew had to contend with moving most of our furniture out of the house and into the kitchen and garage. But they handled it professionally and without any problems. We also decided to have them paint all the walls with our selected colors and now our home looks fresh and brand new. Pena's team even put in the extra effort to ensure uniformity by painting the wall behind our pull-down Murphy bed and making transitions between certain rooms and closets aesthetically pleasing. They also removed old telephone and cable outlets, dry walling, texturing, and painting the areas to blend in with the surrounding walls. We stayed at our neighbor's house for 11 days while all the work was being done, but Pena's team was able to complete the entire project a day earlier than expected. Highly recommend Jim Pena, his son Jimmy, and the entire team--all great to work with. He was good to his word. Jim kept to the estimate he gave me. He started on time and ended on time--especially important because I have a small condo and couldn't stay in it while the work was being done. Communication was good from start to finish. The work included removal of the popcorn ceiling, kitchen light fixture replaced with inlaid lights and dimmer switches added (Lucas, an electrician who works with Jim installed the lights--also terrific), ceiling and walls painted throughout with exception of the bathroom. Prior to painting, Jim removed a mirror over the fireplace and found a large hole in the wall. I had forgotten it was there until he asked me about it. He patched the area without additional cost. At the end of the project, he had 2 people clean my place. My place has never been cleaner and thanks to Jim and his team, my ceiling and walls look amazing--really exceptional work. read more

I am so pleased with the work that Jim and his company did on our house. They removed the hideous popcorn ceiling and retextured the ceiling to match our walls. It looks great! You always hear about nightmare contractor experiences but working with Pena Drywall was like a dream. Jim is extremely responsive and easy to work with. You can call, email or text him and he will always respond right away. The price was extremely fair (2 were much higher and 1 was quite a bit lower but they seemed way less professional and frankly a little creepy). The real icing on the cake though, is all the extra little things that Jim's crew did at no additional charge. We thought it would do less damage to the walls to use super strong earthquake tape rather than making holes in the walls to hang picture frames - wrong! Pulling the frames down pulled off layers of the walls leaving marks all over the walls in nearly every room. Jim asked if we wanted him to patch the holes so of course we said yes! They basically detailed the walls of our entire house at no extra charge! Then during the job, they found some mold on the drywall from an old leak in the roof. They replaced the drywall in that area at no extra charge. You always hear about contractors that raise the price during the job and you have no option but to pay more but this was not the case. I very highly recommend Pena Drywall. If we ever have any future drywall needs, we will definitely be calling them without any hesitation. read more

From estimate to finish, they were great!! High quality job, fast and clean!! I hired different company last year, but they were so messy even we moved all of furniture out from the room, we had to do entire house dusting and vacuuming after they did one room. So, we decided to find another company and thank god, we found Pena. Jim's estimate was very reasonable. His crew worked great. They covered everything and put paper on the floor, so we did not move our furniture even bland new sofa! They strengthen and fixed big crack instead of just taping to cover the crack. Very detailed work. We have open kitchen & living room, and we needed ceiling texture partially, but the seam between new texture and existing area is almost no noticeable. Great job. Jim stop by sometimes and asked us if everything was okay. The crew were very polite, neat, fast, hard worker and most important, their standard was high!! I called Jim about a small repair in our ceiling. He answered the phone and told me he was pretty booked up for the next two weeks but would see what he could do. Within 2 days he called me back and said he could have one of his guys over the next morning to do the repair. That was great news. The next morning the repair was done and we now have painted the section he fixed and our living room back. About the only thing that was a little iffy was the cost. He gave a range based on some pictures i sent via email and the dimensions of the sheetrock that were damaged and need to be cut out. Guessing that he estimated higher not seeing the actual ceiling. In the end we agreed a lower price based on the amount of time and materials used on the repair. Overall we are very satisfied and would use his company again. Just would be certain to get a firm quote and provide a little more lead time to have the job completed. read more
