The first time I reached out to Scott regarding our whole house insulation, drywall, and painting project, he took the time to speak with me about my home's unique characteristics. He patiently and expertly explained why certain products would work better for me than others, and was willing to work with me when I requested to install Rockwool insulation (I noticed not many people know how to install this insulation...). After a neighbor's fairly major pipe break caused some non-trivial water damage in our unit, we needed to get some drywall and baseboard replaced and painted. From the response to the initial contact, to receiving an estimate, the scheduling of the work in a timely manner, and to finally getting the job itself, done the service was truly excellent and very professional and the overall cost was very reasonable - and note that I'm comparing this to several other companies I contacted about the same job. President Scott Shrader lacks integrity. We have completed 7 major remodels over the past 30 years. While the quality of the work is satisfactory, the veracity of his invoices is lacking. In two instances, the description of the work performed did not match the actual work completed at our home. In the first instance he admitted such and corrected the invoice and reduced the invoice amount accordingly. In the second instance he simply acknowledged that the description of the work was "not RIGHT for you" and told us to pay the total regardless, which we did. I hope Scott and his team are the first to fail in the coming recession. Also, General Contractors who work with Scott regularly deserve special attention. read more

I contacted a few different company's to get a quote to replace some ceiling tiles at my salon that had some water damage. Scott was prompt with his response. He personally came out, inspected the ceilings and took a sample of the tiles to see if he can get a match. He gave me a reasonable quote so I accepted the offer. Within a few days he was able to come out and replaced the tiles. I was impressed with how detailed Scott was and took extra time to help me tape up some vents and didn't charge me additional fees. Solid work. Good people. Not 5 star experience, though. Let me explain... The project was supposed to start on Tuesday morning between 8am and 9am - popcorn removal and drywall repair in the garage. We prepared the area as best we could before the workers arrived. On Tuesday morning (at about 7:20am), Scott called to let me know that they couldn't make it out that day but would be there Wednesday morning. Not too big of a deal, but probably something I could've been told the day before, seeing as we had made arrangements with our work to be there for the workers between 8am and 9am. Wednesday, guys show up on time and do great work. They let us know that they'd be back on Thursday to finish texturing. Sounds good. Thursday, no one shows up. No one calls. I called Scott and left a message asking what had happened. He called back just after 7pm and let me know that he had planned to call me that night to let me know that he wasn't able make it out that day. Not sure how I wouldn't have known that already by that time, but...ok. Friday, guys finish and do a great job. Get a call from Scott letting me know that they are done and that we can pay with check or credit. I let him know we'll be paying with credit, at which point he tells me that using a credit card is an additional $50 charge. Again, probably something I could've been told before the time to pay. Overall, very nice job on the actual project, a few disappointments along the way (given the high expectations from yelp). Would probably still recommend, so long as people know about the extra $50 charge and potential delays. read more

I called a few weeks ago and they have been so helpful, they walked me through all the steps procedures and options for my ceiling, including potential pitfalls that I can be facing with redoing the ceiling in my bedroom and plaster work that I was considering. I called them to have my popcorn ceiling removed and they provided a really reasonable quote, and they even helped me out by giving me referrals to other contractors, companies that I might need in the process, including electricians, and a potential abatement companies, in case the test came back positive, which luckily for me it didn't. But they really put me at ease during the process, and were always available to answer my questions, and I had many! I'm really glad I called, and they are just super standup people, who are ready to help and also give great advice. I'd definitely call them again for a project. I am so glad we went with Scott at Pacific drywall. We did a complete remodeling of our house (and my mom's house previously), so I can tell when someone does a great job, an okay job and a poor job. Scott did a fantastic job. He installed drywall in our entire 2 story house with the texture we had chosen. He came back right way to do a minor touch up of the texture on the ceiling (it's very common that the texture does not always take perfectly everywhere). His team was fast and CLEAN (not like other contractors I have worked with). Scott was honest, friendly and professional. His prices were very fair. We lucked out by finding Scott and the crew! We were refinancing our house and faced with having to remodel a half bath in only a matter of a few days (and two of them weekend days). The first drywall contractor who accepted the job flaked on us, then we called Pacific Drywall. The only reason they weren't among the first companies we tried was because they didn't have as many reviews under their belt. When we spoke to Scott and he came to bid the job we were pleasantly surprised that he was very experienced and knew exactly what we needed to get the job done. The lower half of our bathroom is underground (cement block), so we wanted to make sure we took precautions to moisture-proof. Scott knew what product we needed to paint on the cement block to moisture proof and because we were in a rush he left after our meeting to pick it up before the stores closed. He then did the moisture-proofing the next day and the insulation, drywall and texture the day after that. He pulled in his team for parts of the job and they were fast, efficient and did a beautiful job. The insulation he used was top notch and beautifully installed. Very highly recommended! We asked Pacific Drywall to patch 3 holes, fix a little plaster, and deal with a moldy closet (from a leak we didn't notice until too late). We were thinking the closet was going to be the biggest job, as the drywall would have to be removed and replaced. This is what a contractor from another company told us. But Scott came out for an estimate and told us the mold in the closet was surface only (he asked if he could scratch it with his key to show us) and that a little bleach would clean it up - and it did! So we contracted Pacific Drywall to fix the 3 holes. He sent a very competent, professional guy named Miguel, who spent time first carefully covering the floors and surrounding areas and then doing an excellent job. Afterwards thoroughly cleaned up, including wiping down the steps from our front door and the pathway, which had a few specks of plaster or drywall bits. We recently had an HVAC system installed and all the ducts/registers moved. We were left with 8 holes in our walls that needed patching. I called Scott on a Thursday, and he had a couple guys here the next day at 8am. His team did a fantastic job patching and matching the existing wall texture. The price was really good as well. Job is done and never thought I would be so excited about a ceiling, but it looks so crisp and clean - and so much better without the popcorn! I hired Pacific Drywall and Painting (Scott- 408-323-8030 - pacificdrywall.com). My job was atypical. I have vaulted ceilings throughout the house and required scaffolding for the job. Plus, I had recessed lighting put in at the same time (so broke job up - 1st scrape ceiling, then electrician puts ceiling holes & connections, then mudding/painting/drywalling holes, then electrician adds lights and finishing touches). Scott had all the necessary equipment, could start the job right away, and was flexible to work with the electrician. He was reasonably priced (not cheapest but a couple of thousand less than my highest quotes). He had a solid bid and stuck to it. Work was done to a high quality and Scott was mostly responsive to my requests and needs. I would recommend. A couple of notes. -The job was messy - doesn't matter who does it, be prepared for a lot of dust. I didn't have to live in it. -There is likely to be drywall repair - so make sure you prepare for some added cost from that. -Depending on the equipment needed, you have to be prepared that some things will get bumped and marked. I had a couple of places on the floors but Scott was very responsive and came back and fixed it. - Since my job was drawn out with the addition of the electrician (didn't work for Scott) in the mix, there was a weird situation where Scott asked for payment early (terms was at the end of the job). However, after chatting it through. Scott understood my hesitation and let me pay at the end as originally agreed. - Scott went on vacation with his family during my job so responsiveness got a bit challenging for a few days - but he eventually, he got back to me. Most of the rest of the time, he was quite responsive. All and all, I am happy with the experience and extremely pleased with the results and recommend Pacific Drywall & Painting. read more

The good. Scott and crew do amazing work. This would be why they are consistently booked months out. My story starts out Calling Scott to come over for an estimate. I had a 540 square foot master bedroom with a newly completed soffit. I needed Scott to skim coat and textured with a medium knock down. An estimate was given that 3 skim coats would be done over the existing sheetrock and finished off with a medium knock down finish. After back and forth a few times to Scott's office manager I was able to obtain the quote. The quote didn't have all the work that we had discussed in person when Scott came on-site to look and bid. No problem I called Scott and received voicemail. I called his office and continually got the run-around from his office manager. Claims the quote was sent. So I asked what email address it was sent to and when. (Crickets) Then I get this email from Scott: I get an email the next day from Scott "Hi Randy, The said you called. Last night we booked another big job. We are booked out 2 to 3 weeks right now."I worked late yesterday and went and got something to eat when I got back to the shop another job was sent over. Good luck with your job thanks Scott. Slightly irritated but I want Scott to do the job because his work is top notch I decide to wait the 2-3 weeks pending the revised quote that was supposivly sent to me (never received). I email to follow-up with booking. Here is the response Scott sent: Randy I did not send it and we are not doing your job. So He lied about sending the revised quote. A+ for work. I know the industry is busy right now, but when call and get the owner to simply ask him if he is interested in looking at a job and he says "No thanks..." and then hangs up on you???!!! I contacted Pacific Drywall based on the positive reviews I read on Yelp. I have been less than satisfied. I called Pacific Drywall and set up an appointment to meet with one of their drywall estimators last month. The estimator was very professional and measured the areas that I was interested in them working on and told me that Scott would contact me with an estimate. I told him that I have two other drywall estimates and wanted to see if they were competitive since they have such positive reviews. I gave him the approximate bids so that they know what I am expecting to pay. Scott called about a week later and started to tell me about how other the contractors probably would not do as good a job as they would, would not be aware of lead and asbestos issues, etc. It seemed that he was bracing me for a higher bid. Scott also told me that their bid would not include any electrical work and would only include drywall work. Nevertheless, I asked him to provide a bid so that I could compare his bid with the others I already have. He agreed. Three weeks later and I still have no bid. It seems that Scott was not interested in doing the work for whatever reason. He did not follow through with what I expected and seemed to want to justify his rate (whatever that would be). I understand that contractors can get sidetracked but I do not feel it is my job to chase them down especially in todays economic times. read more
