I came here because of the salt room and being able to add a massage. My boyfriend and I started in the salt room together. We did it alone which was great. I enjoyed it more than he did. I was able to relax with the calming music that was played and enjoy breathing deeply. There isn't anything special about the chairs you sit in. They are zero gravity, but limited padding. Definitely bring a sweatshirt and/or blanket. As your body relaxes, you may get colder, but the room was not cold. My massage was with Joe. His massage was very different as i believe he bases his technique on energy and reflexology. There was a lot of breathing and trigger point work. He looks at the whole body to correct any problem areas.Don't go to him if you are expecting a typical smoothing massage. With that being said, I was having severe neck and shoulder pain and felt amazing after. I would go back to him in a heartbeat. During my massage, my boyfriend did an oxygenated water therapy session. He wasn't impressed, but he has trouble relaxing. He did say the water got warmer as the session went on and he could see people receiving a benefit. Look for the introductory prices! Service was great through our sessions. I heard about this place from a coworker and went to check out the Salt Cave. It was amazing!!! Very relaxing, very peaceful. I felt great for the entire evening after the session. It is $30 for a 45 minute session. They do not give you a warning that the session is almost over so depending on how relaxed you are, it could startle you when they announce the session is over. I am definitely going back! They offer many other services as well (massage, reflexology, acupuncture, detox, . I am looking forward to checking those out! ***Update 01/18/20: I have gotten several massages here with Ginger and they are amazing. I have also done the oxyygenated tub and that is very relaxing. You soak in a whirlpool that's filled with oxygenated water for 30 mins. I felt so light and and relaxed! The atmosphere and mood throughout the entire place is so zen and calming. I booked a same-day integrated message with Joe after a coworker suggested this place for my back pain. They have evening hours which is nice for a night shifter. I wasn't fully aware of what an integrated massage was (it's reflexology/body work/pressure points and not a masssge at all) but was pleasantly surprised at how well it got rid of my pain. Joe is super knowledgeable about the body and how an issue in one area can cause issues in other areas. He provided me with suggestions of supplements to take and how to prevent future issues with my back. I will definitely be back! read more

Honestly a poor experience. First, we arrived early, and instead of taking the time to offer us water, discuss their services, or describe their products, they treated us like it was inconvenient that we were early and made us wait until not a moment before our appointment before taking us back (this may have been because someone else was going to join us in the cave but this wasn't expressed). Second, it felt more like we were going to an exhibition at an amusement park than into a spa. You're walked back to the salt cave with little instruction, and take off your shoes in a narrow hallway with no chairs. They require white socks or barefoot but do not express the rocks will likely hurt your feet without socks and none are offered to you. Third, inside the cave are essentially lawn chairs and thin blankets, you will be cold... so dress for the occasion and the chairs are not particularly comfortable and very hard to recline. Fourth, while the cave looks cool, and has great lighting for meditation and a decent soundtrack the voice describing the cave again has the vibe of entering a simulation ride at an amusement park. I wish i could say any portion of this experience was positive but I honestly cannot. If you have an urge to try out a salt cave for a decent price, I suppose you could do so here, but come right on time, wear socks and warm clothes, and bring your own positive attitude. read more

My husband brought me here for Mother's Day. He rented the whole salt cave for just us. I was expecting more of a sauna but it is not. You wear all your clothes and should probably wear socks as it's just room temperature inside. It was very nice. You can even taste the salt in the air. I've used salt saunas to aid in treating my bronchitis. I'm not sure about salt caves. But it was relaxing. We also used the infrared sauna. It wasn't very hot. It said 133-130 degrees F but we hardly broke a sweat. It was just like sitting in a warm room. I wasn't so impressed with this. I know infrared doesn't get as hot as a regular sauna but if you're looking for a sauna to sweat, this isn't it. I'm sure it's good for some. It's just a personal preference. I had a massage also. Full body. It was very nice. I read reviews about poking hard in the shoulders in a painful way. She did do this. It was a little painful. I have zero pain in my back after though. So I imagine it was helpful in some way. No pain no gain. Nothing unbearable also. Everything about the massage besides that one uncomfortable part was amazing. Hands, feet, hot towels. She did such a good job I was sad she didn't massage my temples lol. The essential oils they used were very nice. Lots of lavender and peppermint. Took a Chakra Balancing class in the Salt cave. The class was $25 which is reasonably priced for 2 hours. Very informative with small activities within the information about each level. The salt cave is really beautiful! Gravity chairs set up in our session, dim lights and "lamps" within the walls. Salt pebbles on the floor so wear socks. So relaxing! I can't speak for the rest of the happenings at PLZ, there are lots of happenings. Meditation, massage, yoga, foot soaks...lots. Their FB page has a good bit of events listed. In the storefront there's a nice selection of merchandise and it's reasonably priced. I'll be back to check out some of the other classes and workshops and to meditate in that salt cane of zen! read more

I heard about this place through some friends and heard that the experience was amazing, so I took my best friend there for her birthday and the salt cave experience was amazing. The customer service on the other hand was not!!! When we arrived the woman behind the desk (Dina Givner) was not inviting at all. She was very stand offish and not friendly.. You would think that going to a spa for the first time, the customer service would make us feel welcomed and invited, not the experience at all..Very, Very dissapointed.. I love the salt cave which would make me come back but would not come back if I received the same treatment as a paying customer. read more

I went here for the salt cave and while it was relaxing, there were no real benefits to it. The place is nice and peaceful but it is pricey. I could get the same effects laying in my bed next to my own salt lamp without playing $25. Just came from sitting in their salt cave. I feel fantastic. Clear lungs, clear sinus and a clear head. It's a wonderful relaxing experience. Wear normal every day clothes. It get a bit cool in the cave. 45 minutes went by very quickly because of the serene atmosphere. Only thing I could say against it was it ends abruptly. A voice comes on and says youre done. My friend and I came here for their salt cave. We expected to be in a room with others but were pleasantly surprised to be the only ones. It was really relaxing but a little on the cool side. They have recliner lounge chairs and a thin blanket but I would suggest dressing in layers. The sound through the speakers is super relaxing but ends abruptly with a voice overhead stating the session is over. A couple minutes later, the receptionist comes in to check on everything and clean. It would be nice to have a 5 minute warning or change of music so you can ease back into the hub bub of daily life. I was recommended to this place by a friend. After, a long & demanding year I needed some R&R. The atmosphere was extremely calming. I experienced the Himalayan salt cave and a massage. The salt cave was a nice escape from distractions of the outside world. I would suggest having a group go for distressing and mediation. I would recommend this to a company that wants to treat their employees after a stressful project. However, the negative was two chatty women in the salt cave; who should have grabbed coffee if they needed to catch up. I would recommend this place put pricing somewhere so that you can get a clear idea how much things cost. I was telling people about Peace, Love, and Zen however I couldn't give people a clear idea about the pricing. Nevertheless, I had a hour and half massage by Tracy. It was phenomenal. I came across this place from a Facebook ad, and decided to book an appointment for my husband and me for massages and a salt cave session. (The latter being a whole new thing for us.) From the moment we walked in the door, the name of the place fit. The vibe was so soothing and the whole place smelled like the most calming essential oils. They explained the services we were about to receive and invited us to get hydrated. Then we each went to our private rooms with our massage therapists to get started. I went with a guy named Joe. My husband went with a woman named Jay. Joe asked some questions and went to work. I told him to stay away from my right big toe because of an old injury that still causes pain. He asked if he could work on the rest of the foot to help relieve that pain. I explained that a huge chair fell on my toe and broke it 8 years ago and that I doubted massage could help. He asked if he could give it a try. I said yes, even though I was skeptical. He did what's called targeted or pressure point massage. He also held healing crystals around my foot and breathed on it. Sounds hokey, I know. But I kid you not, when the entire massage was over (he did a lot more than my foot) my toe did not hurt anymore, and I had full mobility of it, which I didn't have before. I thought I had arthritis in it all this time. I don't know what kind of voodoo crystal massage magic he did, but it worked! The salt cave, was also pretty darn cool. They have an entire climate controlled room made of Himalayan sea salt that you sit in for 45 minutes. It's supposed to be good for respiratory health. I don't know if that's true, but it was very relaxing. Very cool place with very skilled massage therapists. My back was also a mess when I got there, and was so much better after, and I only had a 30 minute session. The massage hurt like hell, but I was blown away by the results. I've been a regular customer as have a few friends. I've had acupuncture and massage for very specific painful conditions. I have to defend Joe the massage therapist a few people have complained about. Joe is trained in very targeted trigger point/myofascial release. He's not the person who is gonna give a nice soft massage. Joe can feel the areas that have muscle tightness and fascia restriction and he gets to work. It hurts if you have a trigger points and he presses in a pinpointed way until he feels the release. Joe is very in tune to the body, it's almost as if he communicates with it. It's a work out but worth it. I have fibromyalgia and myofascial syndrome so I expect pain but I'm willing to endure it because I trust Joe is going to release the muscles in restriction and I'll get relief the next day. Joe is the only massage person I'll see there (no offense to anyone else) because I know what I need. I know quite a few people who feel the same way. In fact I'd say Joe has a following. He's very knowledgeable. If you don't have certain areas needing attention then maybe Joe isn't for you. But if you have medical conditions needing some serious work then there isn't anyone better than Joe in my opinion. I've seen plenty of massage therapists over the years that I've had my health issues so I speak from experience. read more

My boyfriend surprised me with a salt cave experience for Valentine's Day! Luckily, we were the only two people signed up at 4 pm so we were in total silence and peace throughout the session. This is the only salt cave available in Pittsburgh so if you want to try it out, this is your only option. To be honest, I didn't notice any benefits from it but I do believe that over time and multiple sessions a month could improve other ailments. For the 45 minutes we were in there though, I did notice I felt less stressed and could breathe easier. Will I go back to the caves? Probably not, but I am now interested in their acupuncture services. read more

I booked 2 -90 minutes massages for me and a friend . There was a special that you book a 90 minute massage you get a free salt cave. The place was clean and neat but the massage was terrible . The guy I had did something odd ... I wanted a deep tissue and he says he studies "reflexology". My neck is still sore from all the rolling around . I never got anything massages he pushed on pressure points and stretched me. I wanted deep tissue not that. This was the worst massage I ever had . And he talked almost the entire time . He also did this odd breathing thing and kinda moaned at one point . Not what I wanted and paid $90 to feel worse than I came in. My friend said she got a good massage not this stretching pressure point crap! He pushed behind my ears and jaw .:: very uncomfortable and hurt. My massage was VERY mediocre, she just ran her hands over my arms and legs, I could tell she finished early because she covered me with the blanket then just touched me in certain places. Not a $90 massage. My friend must have had the guy mentioned below, she was poked and breathed on for the entire time, no massage. Salt cave was ok, nice atmosphere. Will not return. While I wasn't happy with my service, they were extremely accommodating which goes a long way in the challenges of a service business. The massage therapist was very skilled at his particular brand or style of treatment but it wasn't what I needed or ordered when I booked my appt. I made it clear I had a sports injury and needed what one would call a "sports massage" or very deep bodywork. Seemingly the gal who booked the appt understood what I needed and selected a therapist accordingly. However, she didn't. While I got an entirely different kind of massage, and had to book at appt elsewhere the next day to quickly address my mounting athletic injury pain. Notwithstanding when I emailed them they were VERY accommodating and generous in recognizing the error and correcting it swiftly. That is an example of excellent customer service and given such I would go back for other treatments and not "write them off" because of one snafu. read more

I was absolutely in love with this place when I went for a massage with Abbey (who has now left and opened her own massage place) I purchased a salt cave package for $200 for 10 sessions. Very pricey. I was not told that these sessions had an expiration date. I also live an hour and half from the peace love and zen location. When I went to use my 3rd session I was told that they were no longer available for me to use and that they had expired. I left my phone number for the manager to call me and she never did. I then called the spa and spoke to the desk girl and asked if I would be able to talk with the owner about losing the money. The packages are expensive!! The spa owner would not call me, she refused to speak with me. I was so appalled that she has a business called peace love and zen and was not willing to even speak to a customer after they sold me a package without telling me there was an expiration date and keeping my money, I had also brought with me 6 new clients to the spa for salt cave sessions and massages and explained I live an hour and half away and had I known the expiration date I would not have purchased the package. The owner was very ungrateful and the opposite of what their image gives off. So Disappointed. read more

I recently went in for a 30 minute reflexology add on to a head neck and shoulder massage. I've had many of each type of massage and this was the worst ever!! It should have been called a "pressing" because all the guy did was press very hard with his fingertips on various areas but I can't even call it pressure point therapy because he pressed mostly on bony and joint areas, not soft tissue. It was quite uncomfortable 90% of the time!!! Even the reflexology did not involve rubbing in difft areas to break up crystals and he did not do my hands at all. I honestly doubt this man's credentials. Then, they tried to overcharge me $10 from what is listed on their website. Really? I got a gift certificate thinking I would go visit the salt cave....until I did some research and realized this salt cave fad is all hype and has no real therapeutic value other than 'clearing your head' maybe. I opted for a massage when I went. The guy hurt me! I was winching on the bed in pain. I think I may have had the same person as another reviewer who complained also. I've had a few massages at other places and this one was nothing like the others I've had. I left feeling like I still needed a massage and my shoulders were sore for a week where the guy rammed his fingers into my shoulder blades. I also thought I opted for a full body massage and didn't get one. Instead he focused the whole time on my problem areas.
