First off, this place is a rescue center, rather small with not a lot of animals, mostly birds - and mostly owls, which admittedly are not very animated. It's by the beach, so quite a detour off the I-95. Just putting these facts out so people know that and won't spoil this lovely place with a 1 star review because they don't set the right expectation. The stars here are the owls, for sure. The volunteers will take the smaller ones out so you can see them up close. So cute I want to take one back with me on my next semester in Hogswart! There are plenty of volunteers around, and chatting w them will greatly enhance your experience as you learn more about their work and the animals. They also have a roseate spoonbill. I thought it was a flamingo as that's the only pink bird I knew, haha. Thank god they weren't hunt to extinction, so I get to see the beautiful bird here.

Nice spot for a quick visit. Kids loved the gift shop. Friendly staff. Fun to see birds up close.

I came to see Luna, but unfortunately, we missed the time when Luna was out for photo opportunities. If you ever wanted to see an osprey up close, then you should visit this bird sanctuary. There is also a park nearby with a beach view. We encountered a few royal tern birds.

I went to the Peace River Wildlife Center for the first time yesterday and LOVED it. There were several kinds of owls, including an all-white one that is the only one known in the word, adorable blue birds, frolicking pelicans, and more. The volunteers were very helpful, providing lots of interesting information about the birds. I grew up here and I learned a lot about the birds that I'd never known. I highly recommend it.

This is a wonderful rehabilitation center for injured birds. They are a non-profit organization dedicated to the care, preservation and protection of local native wildlife. Most of the animals that are brought in are released back into the wild. They also have a number of animals that are too seriously injured to release so they are permanent residents. They receive no government funding so it is run on donations. They also have a great gift shop filled with reasonable priced gifts. Open 7 days a week from 8 to 5. A real must see in Punta Gorda

    Welcome sign to center.

Docents, recovering wild life and birds that return after rehabilitation even though they've been set free. The buzz is that this place is going to have to relocate for buzz I won't propagate. Please visit and enjoy it while you can. Don't forget to leave a donation at the front door. Thank you. KQ

Nesting heron in the parking lot!

Small but lovely wildlife rehabilitation zoo at the entrance to Ponce de Leon park. Great for non-toddler children & families. Very friendly volunteers are super informative about all the animals there. Admission is free but donations are requested. One of the crows living there actually says "hi"!

Every time I tried to explain I put my little dog in the station just to trim her nails, she kept cutting me off and saying "I watched you on video sweetheart " in a very disrespectful and condescending tone. By the way my little dog was filthy- anyone could see she hadn't been washed! The female cashier refused to even look at her & just kept accusing me of lying. My dog is white, you could clearly see that she was dirty and hadn't been washed. She then told me to leave. This level of customer disservice is appalling She just kept repeating "I watched you. You put her in the bath area sweetheart " This cashier should not be interacting with clients. All I wanted to do was wash my dog

The staff never spoke of any 'as s' policy and did not give me any discounts for it being a display . The store was nicely stocked the supervisor was in the back, two younger staff members helped me. A few days passed my hubby was checking out the stroller, he decided to push it in the garage because it had more open space. The left back wheel came off , hubby showed me them put it back on and asked that I return it. He didn't trust that it was put together correctly. I went to the Pet Supermarket the next day. Kinda fought my way through the front door with the stroller and box. The supervisor again was in the back. Someone was hiding to my right, I could hear them but couldn't see them. They looked busy but really weren't. Got in line for my return the supervisor took me because she had the authority to do reforms. She told me they weren't doing returns because of Covid, that the manufacturer was to pay for this return call them. Fighting with the door again still no one helped with the door. I put everything in my vehicle and called Petmate the manufacturer. They said that THE STORE was responsible and the manufacturer didn't kick in until 60 days after the purchase date. I drove back to the store. The supervisor called corp. and listened on speaker while I spoke with the manufacturer. Pet supermarket did the refund. However it was so juvenile, unprofessional, frustrating, demoralizing. Once on the phone with Petmate, they notified me that covid did not stop returns. Also there was special money put away for refunds. And that the manufacturer doesn't pay until 60 days after purchase. I made a u-turn with Petmate on the line. Once back in store I told them what was stated. The supervisor called corp. She listened to my phone on speaker while on the phone with the manufacturer. At one point she reached over and hung up my phone. I got the refund however the staff behaved so unprofessional, it was frustrating and demoralizing and juvenile. I pray whoever goes there and buys something that you don't have to return it. Lord be with you if you do.

The vet techs were so kind and comforting during stressful moments, and the veterinarians were knowledgeable, attentive, and truly amazing at what they do. Because of this team, my dog is happy, healthy, and still by my side today. I will always be grateful for the care, dedication, and heart they put into their work every day. After they had attended to my pug they wanted payment to which I went to write a check and then informed me they don't take checks. I was told I could pay with a CC but I don't use credit cards now that I'm retired nor was it made clear to me that checks weren't allowed. I had used that vet since moving to Port Charlotte in 2018 but the business was sold and under new ownership. My money wasn't good enough for them and now they won't get anymore of my business and I own 6 dogs and a cat. Terrible experience and I would advise anyone who has standards not to use them. I took my dog to another vet and had no problems paying by check and they were cheaper. Money grubbing losers!

We are SO fortunate to have found Richard from Catify My Home. It's not that often you hit the jackpot from a Google search, but we did with this one! Our cats Canvas and Ophelia love their uncle Richie! There isn't enough time to write how vastly different, and better, Richard is from your typical app cat sitter. Any previous cat sitter would stop in, scoop the litter box, refill the food, add water, hang out for 10 minutes and then leave. With Richard our cats get so much play hunting time and lots of affection. His drop ins are 90 minutes and this includes ensuring the dry food is full, cleaning the litter box, refilling the water bowls (which he also cleans), and vacuuming around the cat area. It doesn't just end there, he also brings our trash to the curb if he's cat sitting on a trash day, brings in our mail or any packages, vacuums the areas where he's playing with the cats, and I'm sure there's more I'm missing! We used to come back from time away and dread getting home because of the cat duties...cleaning up the scattered litter/food on the floor, washing water bowls, emptying the litter genie, etc. with Richard, all of that is done for us! We simply come back home to the happiest cats. He will send A TON of photos and videos to show updates. He truly loves cats and understands their behavior. He was even able to get our younger cat (who is skittish and typically hides from strangers) to start coming out and playing with him. Also...he is extremely reliable and doesn't treat cat sitting like a side hobby. Previous sitters wouldn't always send updates and a lot of time we would have to check in with them to see if they were still stopping by to check in. With Richard we know our cats will be well cared for. Every time we are away we tell each other how lucky we are to have found him. Catify My Home is simply the best!!

He's incredibly reliable, keeps us updated with photos and messages, and even takes the time to tidy up around the feeding area. If you're looking for someone trustworthy and caring to look after your fur babies, Richard at Catify My Home is the best choice. We wouldn't trust anyone else with our cats!
