Both Rome and Ozzy are of course scared of doctor's visits but once they arrive it always turns into a pleasant experience and they feel like it's a spa visit and not a doctor's visit. Camryn, Amber, Michelle, Chris and all other staff members including the doctors are absolute Pet lovers they know how to approach their pet clients to make them feel at ease not stressed... . They each have few of their own pets home and they simply know how to treat my cats so they are at upmost comfort while at the doctor's. My cats quickly relax every time we get there and tons of kisses and cuddles help them adjust quickly and forget about an exam or any other activity ( like ear cleaning of nail trim). I absolutely LOVE Venice animal Clinic and I highly recommend this Vet to everyone who truly loves their pets

Fact is my initial request for a prescription for Fluoxetine was ignored. I believed his throwing up was anxiety related and guess what I believe I was correct. He's been on melatonin and has stopped the excessive grooming and more importantly stopped throwing up. Dr Myburgh disagreed with me and insisted it was something he ingested. Keeping in mind he did not review my cats chart to see that it had been over two weeks between visits where my cat did not throw up at all and would have known he was already on a prescription diet which Dr Myburgh suggested as an option on my second visit . He said cats don't throw up when stressed..really?? I do appreciate the refund but quite frankly under the circumstances a full refund should have been given.

Cisco & I have been regular customers for several years, they know & greet him by name . We tend to stick with one favorite brand which is only carried by a few other stores in the area. I tend to always support local 'small' businesses but these ladies know their products & carry only the healthiest & best products for your furbabies! It's comforting to not have to read every label for it's 'made in' origination, knowing their products are top quality, for ex: rawhide free, no food or treats made in china, never expired & safe hardwood products. Parking is always available, the store always neat & well organized & the staff knowledgeable & welcoming. If you haven't stopped in at Pet Pantry yet, you're missing out. They not only ordered a specific product for me (Stella & Chewy frozen nuggets vs patties) but also called me last week to let me know our favorite product was running a great sale this week. After he passed away just a few hours later, we looked at the paperwork and saw it documented that he was bleeding internally. The heartbreak of losing him is something we'll never get over, and I'll always wonder if he could have been saved with different care. No family should have to experience this. During the first visit, she came off cold but recommended a follow-up for my dog's anal glands. At that follow-up, my dog was clearly in distress during the procedure, I even offered to hold him to help, but wasn't allowed, and the assistant holding him got scratched by my screaming squealing very uncomfortable dog. Then I was hit with a surprise $28 "difficult dog" fee that was NEVER mentioned before--even though his behavior was the same at the first visit. When I later asked for help getting my dog seen sooner for a surgery she said should be done ASAP, I was met with sarcasm--she literally compared my question to asking Publix to recommend another store ... like where is the compassion?? It only got worse. When I called to cancel my dog's upcoming surgery, she responded "we figured that." When I asked what that meant, she refused. I told her she is rude and she told me "that's usually what people say can't handle the truth." I said "maam what truth couldn't I handle??" She gave no answer ‍. Final straw--when I said I'd leave a review, she made sure to mention she had photos of her employee's scratched arm, which felt more like intimidation than professionalism. Dr Dawn Spakowsi is rude, dismissive, and lacks basic care her own staff if you ask me. I originally brought my dog in, who has an extensive and well-documented history of allergies, simply to continue his long-standing allergy medication. Despite his records clearly showing he has been on the same medication for years, I was required to schedule and pay for a full exam. I accepted this. However, when his medication ran out and I requested a routine monthly refill, the clinic refused and required another full visit and exam fee just to refill the same medication. This was extremely frustrating and not something I've experienced with other veterinary practices. Shortly after, I brought my dog back for a scratch on his eye. The treatment provided did not resolve the issue. At a follow-up visit, I was told he would most likely need to be rushed to a veterinary ophthalmologist and potentially require anesthesia. I was charged approximately $600 for bloodwork and anti-nausea medication to "prepare" him for this referral. When we actually saw the veterinary ophthalmologist (a completely separate clinic), none of that bloodwork or medication was needed, and the eye issue was managed with a different treatment plan that was effective. This made the prior visit feel unnecessary, poorly coordinated, and avoidable. Because the eye issue was not properly addressed early on, my dog dealt with this problem for over a month, causing unnecessary stress, time, and financial burden. While I understand vets are trying to help, the lack of coordination and repeated full-charge visits added up quickly and felt excessive. Given the repeated issues, unnecessary costs, and overall experience, we will not be returning to this practice.

I brought my senior dog in for her annual check-up. I was concerned about her bleeding gums and licking one of her paws; otherwise, my dog is healthy for her age. The vet said she had an anti-bacterial rinse for her mouth and spray for her paws; however, she seemed to be more interested in pushing extensive testing around $300. She stepped out of the exam room and said her nurse would be back to follow-up. When the nurse returned, she knew nothing about an oral rinse or paw spray. She went to check with the vet, but she was now busy with something else, keeping her from returning to the exam room. I paid $75+ for the visit and left. On my way out the staff told me they were out of the oral spray, but didn't know what the vet recommended for paw spray. What a disorganized office, the staff just stood there looking clueless, no one could step up and help me. I left without a diagnosis or being able to help my dog with her bleeding gums and itchy paw. Unfortunately, I will need to return for a heartworm test or I won't be able to refill my dog's medication.

They are always so polite and work as hard as they can to help every animal that comes in. Service is based on severity of an animals condition, same as a human hospital. Some people get so mad because they have to wait, sometimes for hours. But take a minute to think about it. If you have a pet that was hit by a car and needed immediate medical attention, would YOU want to wait until it was your turn! While watching them help another animal that maybe had a broken leg. I GET IT, as an avid pet owner who loves her dogs, no one wants them to be in pain! I have gone there with a life emergency and was seen right away with surgery required. Other times I have had to wait for hours. I am good with it either way! Folks complain about the cost, yep, it's expensive but again, how much does it cost to go to the emergency room for humans? Plus, most of the people that work here also work at regular vet locations. Do I recommend them? You bet I do!!
