I contacted Griselda at Friendly Companion to see if she could provide the type of specialized care my father would need once he was released from the hospital. She was completely familiar with what his needs would be having had years of experience working with clients in need of high level care such as his. I was so impressed with her knowledge of situations such as his and felt immediately reassured that he was going to be well taken care of. She attended training sessions at the hospital along with her staff to insure that everyone on her team would know the proper procedures for caring for him with his particular medical condition. Once my father came home, Griselda's team of top notch caregivers provided excellent service to both my father and 90 year old mother until my father's condition worsened and we had to make a change in his care. Driver was 30 minutes late because she "got lost. Her gps acted up." This is not acceptable…read more Anticipating surgery is stressful; having one's paid driver being half an hour late is more stressful. I didn't hire Senior Helpers, paying in advance for a four hour minimum, to just take me to the post office or to Walgreen's to pick up a prescription where there is no specific appointment. No. I hired Senior Helpers to take me to my surgery appointment. Being on time is crucial. My appointment was at 9am so we agreed that the driver would be at my apartment at 8am to ensure I was on time. When I made the reservation, I stressed that gps does not recognize my address so one must enter the address of the apartment management office to get to the complex. Who knows if that was conveyed to the driver - if not, that's corporate incompetence - if yes, then the driver is incompetent. At 8:10 A.M., I called to check on my driver who is now ten minutes late. They didn't know where she was but said they'd check and call me back. I had to call back again and ultimately at 8:20 A.M. this: she got lost but should be there soon. I told them that my four hour minimum should start at 8:30 A.M. when the driver arrives, not at 8:00 A.M. when she should have arrived, and they agreed. I walked out of my apartment and waited at the gate, and it's a good thing I did! The driver had parked by the gate and was out of her car looking for my apartment several buildings away. All the buildings/individual apartments are marked with the addresses and unit numbers. How was my address missed? We got in her car and first thing she did was run the stop sign pulling onto the public street. Oh, my. I'm now in a hurry, but ... well. We made it to my appointment and were driving back to my apartment by 10:20 A.M. I had been told that the driver could help me with some light housekeeping or meal prep during the four hours that she was assigned to me. I had planned to have her help me vacuum my floors, but I bid her farewell upon arriving home at about 10:30 A.M. because I needed to end the whole experience. So, I paid for four hours but only used two. I got my ride to and from my surgery, but paid extra for a lot of unnecessary stress. This review is not personal. I'm sure all involved are very nice people; however, they failed due to their lack of professionalism. Is there no directive or training that ensures that drivers know where they're supposed to go? Are the drivers just given an address and then forgotten? Is it not prudent for a driver to map the route at least a day before via the internet maps app to ensure a timely arrival? My surgery was successful in spite of the disastrous experience w/ Senior Helpers. I'll not depend on them ever again.

Hint: if you do shop with her at the farmers market or shop and ask for discount she'll give it to you if its a slow day so that's always nice. Just wish I could trust her products more and that they even worked like they were supposed to. Deordorant and lip balms, ok no problem, but health related products such as skin cremes and pain relievers and especially edible elderberry syrup she offers, stay away plz. I basically got assigned the "welfare" version of Hospice. While looking for a respite service, I searched the Internet and made many phone calls and finally came upon Bristol Hospice. Every single person that works for this company is amazing. They never make me feel like I'm calling them too much, they're very patient and caring and treat my mother like the queen that she is. I always tell people to ask a friend for a reference, but you don't need one if you live in the area... This place is in my experience the best out there. Everyone gives me a hug and help helps me to help my mom better and also educate me on the process of the end of life similar to the beginning of life just in a different direction. God bless everyone who works for this company, they have been a true blessing to my mother, myself, and my family!!!
