Being a bit of a self engrandized home bartender I'm a bit critical when out of my home lab, but their Smoked Old Fashioned wasn't bad. ("Wasn't bad" really means very good.") While I don't love the prices and hate paying a cover charge, when you throw in live music, a great vibe, and a view, I can't really complain. The owner made an announcement that whoever tipped the band $10 would get a free drink, and since most drinks were over $15 I thought that was cool on many levels. A woman standing behind us who had arrived after we did was approached by the bartender and had her order taken first. I'm not going to speculate about the reason, but sitting there and watching it happen certainly didn't make us feel welcome. At that point I decided not to order anything because I already had doubts about staying. My wife ordered a glass of white wine that was supposed to be a 6 oz pour. When it arrived, we both questioned the amount. I even noticed other glasses of wine at a nearby table that appeared to have considerably larger pours. I've included a photo so people can judge for themselves. We weren't looking for special treatment because it was our anniversary. We simply expected the same basic level of acknowledgement and service as everyone else. It's unfortunate because we came in genuinely excited to try a local place and celebrate together. The atmosphere has potential, but our first impression of the service made us feel like we'd be better off spending our anniversary somewhere else.

When my friends and I arrived there, we were impressed at the professional look of the set up. The Dam Bar featured full lighting, smoke machines, and a great DJ and PA set up. The actual stage set up was the best feature of the venue, in my opinion. 4 people could play full band karaoke each with their own high definition screens as well as audio monitors at your feet. Their Rock Band library was the biggest single selection I have personally ever seen! This is an impressive collection of almost every available track for the game, including track packs, Rock Band store songs, and the Green Day: Rock Band export pack. There is definatly something for everyone at Rock Band Atlanta. Fans of the game would respect the work they put into their set up and organization, and the casual attendee can't help but be swept into the excitement of the atmosphere. It has great outdoor seating on the covered patio, perfect for both being outside but also not subject to all of the elements. The indoors is cozy with a small bar and long table seating. The beers are in German style, a more unique offering among other local breweries. Pints are about $5 DEFINITELY unique nowadays! As a distillery they produce all the standards with a creative cocktail menu. With a full bar, Sugar Hill Distillery offers a lot more than most. The menu is more American than German, but still not a lot for vegetarians. Service is super friendly. Overall great spot for a beer on a nice day!

Upon showing up, we parked our cars in the lot and went in. They had live music in two different areas, and in the main space a giant buffet that spanned the outside of the space. Carving station, oysters and shrimp cocktail, cheese and fruits, desserts galore, and special touches like a cotton candy machine for the kids and a fresh fried beignets station. There was a bar set up outside the meal areas so we could get cocktails and wine by the glass we ended up ordering a couple bottles at the table. There was a lot of people enjoying themselves. The drive to the lodge was beautiful, it was a colder day but the sun was out and everyone got to have some great food and still enjoy themselves and the day. I bring my dog here pretty much daily and enjoy the walks, the views, the lake, the vibe, and occasionally the sun sets. The views are majestic and the land is well kept and truly a gem of Georgia. Doesn't seem like it really gets crowded during the week and the lake is truly something to behold. Doesn't get much better than this. Five solid Stars for Lake Lanier and two thumbs up. Thank you.
