There was so many options for fresh fruits, vegetables, produce, nuts and more! They make their own salsa and boiled peanuts They do have pink pineapples in the fridge along with exotic fruits like star fruit, rambutan, pink and yellow dragon fruits. I believe plantains as well. The owner or cashier told me they source locally for all their items and support the community. She even share they sell locally made doggie treats by the young ladies in the photo beneath it. This was such a gem and treat. I spent about $40 and got a variety of items. You'll be blessed to get some fresh items. Enjoy!!! Don't be scared! It's so worth it!

Slicing into a dry, pink tomato devoid of moisture purchased from Kroger makes me sad. Today I traipsed through the Sweet Auburn Curb Market in search of lunch as well as an acceptable tomato. The tomatoes at Curb Produce beckoned me with their luscious crimson skin, bursting with enormity. Now my cornbread, pork and turnip greens will taste right.

The market runs every Saturday from 8 AM to 12 PM and features a variety of local vendors offering fresh fruits, produce, and more. What really stood out to me were the flowers--especially the vibrant Celosia. I picked up two beautiful bouquets, along with some small sculptures and other goodies. Unfortunately, the rain started to pour, cutting my visit short. But I'm already looking forward to returning--especially for the flowers!

This year, it operates from March 31 to November 17. I admit, it is more tiny than huge (perhaps around 15 vendors with roughly 2-3 selling produce), but it's worth visiting! Unlike some markets where you have to scavenge for parking in the nearby neighborhoods, the parking situation is exceptional since there's a giant lot right next to the venue which is First Baptist Church. This church happens to be quite near downtown Decatur in case you want to go there after or before. I believe all vendors accept credit cards but cash seems to be warmly welcomed at most or all businesses. Since there's a lush lawn in front of the church, it's a kid magnet and prime picnic spot; you can grab a snack or dinner and just chill. Some of my favorite sellers include Snapfinger Farm, Galette, and Honey Next Door. Shop local!

They've been turning brown thumbs green since 2009 at their operation in College Park on the MARTA line between the East Point and College Park stations. I'd passed by before without paying attention but I wish I'd known about them before today's MLK Day service project. During our orientation, Mr. Wilson explained that they teach people in the community how to grow their own food. Adults and children can get hands-on experience at MAUF that they can use to cultivate organic gardens of their own. They learn which vegetables to plant in each season and how to nourish the soil. They also get information about cooking and preserving/canning their produce. MAUF is focused on self-sufficiency and farming of high quality produce. Everything they grow is non-GMO and is free of hormones, synthetic pesticides and fertilizer and the majority of what they plant are heirloom seeds. They have a well onsite and they're in the process of going off the grid with solar power. They sell fresh, in-season fruits and vegetables to the public, including to several of the restaurants in the area. Low-income EBT and food stamp recipients can buy $20 worth of produce for $10 through their 2-for-1 discount program. I encourage everyone to support this organization's work to educate people in the Atlanta community and help them eat nutritiously. Today we pulled weeds inside the hoop houses, tended the compost pile and stained tables in furtherance of their mission. I plan to return (when it warms up) to learn how to grow some of my favorite veggies at home! The fried okra was…read moredelicious and I was pleasantly surprised by this charming, small, outdoor farmers market tucked away in the city of Atlanta. There were goats, live music, and a variety of different vendors selling everything from popsicles to potted plants! I was surprised by the diversity of things for sale, considering how small of a market it is. Seemed to be a very positive and friendly atmosphere. It is also within walking distance to a lot of shops, bars, and places to eat and I was able to find free parking close by.

With a small community teaching garden in the back, ample room for demos and many food options, this market has expanded in more ways than one. I enjoy stopping by the market every Thursday to pick up fresh, seasonal vegetables and chat up the local farmers. When you stop by don't forget to catch the chef's demo by Chef Seth at 6 pm. This market is open every Thursday from 4-8pm through November.
